[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]EMPYREAN [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Wynston Jaeger [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 18 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: raiden, METAL GEAR [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Blood [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] Empyrean's countenance can most easily be described as "unclear." With his gender being vague from a distance, as well as early-greying hair, he's not easy to classify at a glance. Along with that, his reflective, grey eyes are rimmed with black, which make it seem like they're flickering between dark and light depending on the setting. He also stands in between the average and above average height for a man of his blood. His body is 175 centimeters tall, but he's skeptical on whether or not he can grow more, given time. The ambiguity of his visage compliments his personality well, reflecting his basis as someone steeped in greys, both moral and physical. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Empyrean is doubt personified, if we're going to be blunt. Due to memetic trasmission of skepticism passed onto him, he's perpetually stuck in a purgatory of questioning both the will of himself and others. The way he lives, his "ideals," so to speak, is simply to find the truth. Something that he can believe in, without fail. However, due to the relative nature of "truth" as a whole, despite the constant search for such a simple thing since he was young, it never bears fruit, without fail. Despite this, and despite his claims that he's a half-hearted tool that inherently lacks will, he desperately struggles and continues to look for something that he can have faith in, as if convicted by universal law. He has to find the truth. Something that is absolute. No matter what. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Being born in the late days of the century's turn, Wynston was an anomaly of a child. His birthplace was in Northwest Germany, near Oldenburg. Though close to the ocean, he spent most of his time close to home, living the life that any normal young child of his age would. He played the occasional video game, but was never too struck with them, at least during his pre-teen years. Up until his eleventh birthday, he was relatively care-free, doing nothing of note, other than getting high grades in math and science classes. However, as a gift a few days before his special day, he was given a choice. Stay at home and do something really special there, or go on vacation for a week or two. With the options presented to him, he chose the latter on a whim, and they took a cruise around the coast. Due to their relatively middle-class lifestyle, and boats being the easiest way to travel long distances for them, they took a fairly long trip around the coast of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and due to a severely dangerous storm, they stopped in the Basque country--which at the time, was at an extreme high point of civil violence from a nationalist and separatist organization. Be it a horrible stroke of fate, but the storm that grounded them in the country placed them there at a time when racial tensions were high. The economy took a heavy hit at the time, and at the time, the group was just looking for some way to make publicity higher. Despite declaring a ceasefire a month earlier, a riot erupted in the town Wynston's family was taking shelter in. They immediately got caught up in it, trying their hardest to avoid conflict, but eventually meeting one of the extremists themselves, who realized they were outsiders, and took it upon himself to outlet his anger upon them in the form of spitting out some lead. Wynston, not realizing what had happened, ran full force away. It was natural instinct to run away from something scary, right? He did just that. He left behind what he didn't understand, not caring for anything at all, just seeking relief. When he bumped into someone who wore the extremist symbol on their person, he was subsequently questioned by them as to what he was doing, where he was from, why he was here; and to all of this, he could only answer "I don't know for sure." The person then gave him a line to the traumatized child that changed his life. Being completely vulnerable at the time, his entire body shaking and wanting to cry out from pain both mental and physical, all he heard from the person was "if you're gonna doubt yourself, keep on doubting. After all, you'll eventually find something truthful." And with that, he just...clicked. Something in his head drove the gears, but he knew what he needed to do. Returning to his family, he made sure of their status. They were both dead. Of course, being such a young child, he didn't know what to do. He sat there. Hoping for them to wake up, but they didn't, of course. Authorities found them after the riots were being put under control, including him, passed out. He was then taken to the station, wherein standard procedures would take places. Questions were asked, then subsequently answered as truthfully as possibly by someone who couldn't focus on anything but. Returning home to mourning grandparents, he went about life with his parents gone, as per usual. It was difficult acclimating, but coming back from the trip, what he retained was a sincere disgust for rebels and a "clear" goal in life. Later moving to England due to the scholarship he got for his amazingly high grades in math and science, he enrolled and got entranced in the mechanics of MMOs in his spare time. Due to the fact that numbers and such played an immense part in these things, he was entralled by them, taking great pleasure in theorizing what sort of outcomes would happen, and thusly being correct. It was his favorite hobby. Wouldn't you know it, he eventually happened upon Elder Tale, and with much ease, got into the game when it launched in his country. Despite the different world, the different life, the man behind the avatar was still the same. He'd find the truth behind why they were taken in here, if for nothing more than habitual behavior based upon the memes passed down to him. [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"] Empyrean was diagnosed with Waardenburg's at age eleven, as well as being a sufferer of Cluster headaches since that point in time. Luckily, due to the advance in technology, he's had both treated, enough to the point where the headaches are mere migraines now, and the remnants of WS1 are his grey hair and eyes. He's also left-handed, but can easily switch between. He prefers fine movements with his left, and rougher ones with his right. He had a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog as his pet back home in Germany, named Welke. He had it since he was a teenager, but was unable to convince his family and college to take it in, as it wasn't possible to have it live in the dorms. He always got 100% grades in his Math classes from secondary school and beyond, without fail. |

It comes with the disadvantage of expending battle momentum completely, however. Despite that, this skill is one of the most basic and effective defensive techniques of the Warrior classes. Parry has an animation time of 1 second and a cooldown of 5 seconds. This cooldown is doubled to 10 seconds if used by any other class. [attr="class","skill"]Heal: The most fundamental HP recovery magic of the healer classes and the root of all restorative skills. Although it grants a very high amount of HP, it is known for its long casting time and poor mana efficiency compared to other healing skills, barrier skills and reactive activation skills, thus putting this on low priority amongst healing skills. Beginners often look at healers based on how much HP this skill heals, causing some to be called second-rate or third-rate healers. That said, truly useless healers are out of the question, since most are at least competent in using restorative magic. When this skill is used, the caster is surrounded by a hazy warm light, and the chosen target is showered down with particles of light. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds and a cooldown time of 10 seconds. If used by a non-healer class, the cooldown doubles to 20 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Quick Swap: A skill that facilitates the quick switching of equipment from the user's equipment to their inventory. While many characters use quick slots in order to swap out their weapons, this requires a manual action. The use of Quick Swap does this exchange automatically. This switching can only be done with two equipment sets at a time, both of which are registered prior to the start of battle. When Quick Swap is used, the current equipment set will be swapped out to the other set designated by the skill. Due to the nature of this skill, it is best used by characters of the Weapon Specialist classes. This skill has an animation time of 1 second. Its cooldown if used by a Weapon Specialist class is 30 seconds which increases to 60 seconds if used by any other class. [attr="class","skill"]Fall Defense: A toggle skill that is acquired by the character's natural reflexes and physical coordination. By knowing the most effective ways to recover from a fall while sustaining as little damage as possible, these characters take 20% less damage from fall damage occurring from falls at heights of 3 meters or higher. This reduction changes to 30% when the character reaches Level 30, 40% at Level 60, and 50% at Level 90. [attr="class","skill"]Spellwalk: A toggle skill that allows a character to cast a spell without forcing them to remain immobile during the spell's casting duration. It is an excellent skill to take for those who prefer an on-the-go strategy or at least a less vulnerable position. When the character moves while casting a spell, their movement speed is halved. This speed penalty decreases to 40% at Level 30, 25% at Level 60, and 10% at Level 90. [attr="class","skill"]Equipment Mastery - Unarmed Combat: A toggle skill that allows a non-Monk character to deal increased damage with their bare hands, much like a Monk would. It is a little more flexible than the Equipment Mastery skills if somewhat situational - most combat builds for classes other than Monks will generally have no major uses to being able to hit things harder with your fists due to the lack of skill support. Regardless, it could serve as a passable emergency tactic when you may find yourself disarmed. This skill does nothing if taken by a Monk. [attr="class","skill"]Wind Bullet: Toggle skill. A skill that is usually performed with a free hand, making it a useful technique for Monks and characters who wield only a single one-handed weapon. It can also be used with an actual firearm, causing wind bullets to be fired whenever the gun is not loaded with any form of ammunition. Its bare handed version is performed by extending the thumb and index finger while curling the other three fingers, as though a gun gesture is being made. Thanks to the toggle function of this skill acting as a safety, it can be turned off for those times where you don't want to accidentally shoot people because of your careless gestures. By pressing down the thumb or trigger, a concentrated shot of air is expelled forward from the index finger or barrel, causing a minor recoil from the shot. Wind bullets shot from this attack are fairly weak and are used more often to subdue or stall an opponent. This skill has a range of 10 meters, an animation time of 0.5 seconds, and a cooldown time of 1 second. [attr="class","skill"]Disassembly: Toggle skill. Mechanics have a certain affinity with taking apart machines, so monsters that are mechanical in nature had better watch out. Mechanics deal 20% more damage to Machine-type monsters. They can also cancel buffs on Machine-type monsters upon a successful hit. [attr="class","skill"]Quality Control: Mechanics are known for their extensive knowledge of machines, to know when something doesn't look or sound right. As such, this skill can help to extend their natural abilities at repairing machines. By toggling this skill, the mechanic becomes able to see the durability values of all machine parts within their line of sight at a glance - therefore making the job of replacing worn parts a breeze. For those who are a little more curiously destructive in mind, this skill also serves as good researching material for understanding how parts work in tandem with each other. [attr="class","skill"]High Jump: Passive. One of the most basic tricks of the Acrobat's specialty is their ability to jump greater heights than any average person. The Acrobat's maximum jumping height is doubled. While this skill might seem otherwise mundane, it can allow one to reach places that would be difficult for many others. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Starter Leather Armor: A basic set of soft leather armor made from cheap leather. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Starter Nodachi: A variant of the katana with a lengthened blade. A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Londinium Steel Carbine: Lvl. 10. A carbine of the Londinium Steel brand, a reliable brand of beginner equipment crafted by the People of the Land. It resembles an emerald in appearance but the gemstone itself phases through to the touch as though it were an optical illusion. Is the banquet a stage to something bigger? Cannot be reforged or enchanted. When this item is equipped, it applies a crafting bonus of +1 toward a craft's final item level. AP Potion (5 AP): A potion for 5 AP. Use it in the Market Center. Londinium Steel Knife: Lvl. 10. A knife of the Londinium Steel brand, a reliable brand of beginner equipment crafted by the People of the Land. Second Anniversary Cake: Level 30 food display. A multi-layered cake with extra frosting and toppings made to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the Apocalypse in the Unfounded Kingdom. It can be used as furniture in Guild or Personal Housing, granting +1 to all housing stats. It can alternately be eaten in a thread to grant a Food Buff for 5 posts. The Food Buff grants +5% movement speed, increases maximum HP by 10%, and also heals the user by the same amount immediately upon use. Untradeable. Icicle Blade: Lv30 one-handed sword. A blade that was practically carved out of ice and attached to a metal hilt. Arcane symbols lining the side of the blade ensure that the ice will not melt over time. Inflicts ice elemental damage via non-skill attacks. If the wearer's main class level is less than 30, this armor scales down to their level. In addition, when this item is possessed in the inventory, it can be used in a thread as Vanity Clothing. Fenrir Mount Whistle: A crystal glass whistle that enables the owner to summon forth a mount resembling Fenrir, the Howling Blizzard. The Fenrir summoned by this item possesses the stats of a Night Wolf if the owner is trained in taming mounts. |
