She is not particularly tall for an elf--only standing at just over five and a half feet--however, does have a considerably slender build. Her skin is exceedingly pale, most often appearing grey but appearing numerous shades depending on current lighting and surrounding influences. Her hair is sheer white, and would fall to just above her waistline if it weren't always tied in a tight bun. Two large locks surround her face, parting at the middle and hanging just above her shoulders. Her pale blue eyes are large and almond-shaped. Like her skin, they appear to glow or shift hues depending on the light or her surroundings. As an aesthetic choice, Koda's left eye is scarred and, under more normal circumstances, would be canonically useless. A karmic folly on Koda's part, as being transported into the world of Elder Tale has forced her to live with this--now physical--fault. She plans to acquire some means of covering the dead eye at the first opportunity. In terms of clothing, Koda began her adventures in Elder Tale clad in dark cloth armor. A thin, black robe and trousers with oversized, but manageable, arms and legs. Koda has equipped herself with a cheap rapier and mage's grimoire, taking interest is a primarily magical role but also wanting a quick physical fallback for those occasional close-combat encounters. At first glance, Koda appears soft and approachable, and this isn't entirely false. However, those who get to know her will soon see her fiery demeanor. Koda carries herself with confidence, despite not always being so, and moves around with purpose and care. In a world recently ravaged by PKers and general harassment, Koda knows that appearing weak and uncertain could lead her to trouble. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Madeline was always the silent, studious type. Not much one for focusing on the social aspects of life, she would much rather have her nose in a book than sitting around and chatting. While she doesn't completely isolate and shut herself off from the world, Madeline is rarely found participating in group affairs. She enjoys group conversations as long as they are intellectual, ensightful, and/or educational. If nothing new and sufficiently useful can be taken from an activity or experience, then that is time and energy wasted. Madeline feels like she must always be working on something, lest she become restless and irritable. Boredom is Madeline's worst enemy, but she rarely finds herself squaring off with this particular adversary very often. Equipped with a book or a journal at every opportunity, Madeline finds it necessary to be constantly engaged in something knowledgeable or beneficial. Despite the cold, logical surface of her personality, Madeline is also rather empathetic and caring. She is simply terrible at showing it. She often finds herself engrossed in the affairs of other if said affairs are troubling, permitted she is close enough and cares enough about the people involved. Madeline tends to deal with these things in her own way, however, rarely openly offering assistance. These traits have bled into Madeline's life as Koda in Elder Tale as well. She maintains her quiet demeanor, while always keeping an ear open for anything she finds of interest or import. She is also cautious to the point of cynicism, always planning her actions as best as possible before acting in just about any situation. To others, Koda appears to be a cold, analytical, and critical person, which is relatively spot on. However, on the inside, she is also caring and protective, lending others whatever assistance she can in her own silent, off-stage way. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Madeline Gracie grew up in a quiet home in Liverpool, England. The only child of a surgeon father and psychologist mother, she grew up in a world where logic and consistency ruled over imagination and variety. Early in her elementary school career, Madeline decided she wanting to work in the field of science. She knew she would need to work hard and learn as much as she could, and decided at an early age that the pursuit of knowledge would rise above most anything else. This left little room for her social life, much to her parents' and teachers' concern. They encouraged her to make friends, but Madeline would never come to make any sort of significant effort to do so. She made a few friends naturally here and there, but they could be counted on one hand at any given time. Encouragement for her to become more social did, however, cause her to become at least aware of the social aspects of life around her, despite never becoming directly involved herself. This caused her to develop a knack for absorbing and storing away bits of knowledge regarding the lives and engagements of those around her. Never one to approach others about their activities or the troubles they might face, Madeline decided that she would offer whatever help she could from the background. Occasionally, this would involve direct action on Madeline's part, although she would never claim responsibility herself. On the off chance that her actions had an undesired effect, Madeline's own sense of responsibility would provoke her to face the consequences with dignity and humility. Letting her pride her the better of her was something that Madeline very rarely did. In her social introversion and constant need to see and learn new things, Madeline fell into video games at a relatively young age. The idea itself was practically forced onto her by her parents, who feared that too much studying might not be healthy for a young mind. They purchased a computer role-playing game for Madeline on her eighth birthday, which she quickly fell in love with. The stat and character development systems intrigued her, and the battle systems based on said stats allowed her to be in constant thought--something she found to be quite exciting. Not surprisingly, Madeline never really got into the stories of the games she played, focusing primarily on how to develop the statistically perfect character, something she knew wasn't possible due to different factors, such as classes and skill tress, but the quest for perfection was ever engaging and never boring. When Elder Tale was released in Europe, Madeline purchased the game immediately. She had never played an online role-playing game, but after studying the concept and seeing that they offered almost the same types of systems but with the added challenge of diversity among characters, she was sold. She decided that a sorcerer, while abstract in its own right due to the use of magic--something that, despite being a strong advocate of the sciences, had caught her attention in the early years of her video game career--would provide the perfect opportunity for deep thought and careful analysis to coincide with her gameplay experience. The Sorcerer jumps in a direction and teleports about 1-5 meters away in the desired position. The only downside is that the teleportation distance is very haphazard and might actually not move you very far. Still, it's a useful means of misdirection especially when you're up against only one enemy. This skill has a casting time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds. [attr="class","skill"]Scout: The Animal Trainer attempts to recruit a monster to their cause in order to create a temporary partner. This is often done by approaching the monster without startling or aggravating it. If performed successfully, a tamed monster will fight by the Trainer's side for a few minutes before control is lost and the monster returns to the environment. Certain situations might make this duration last longer or shorter; acts of kindness toward the tamed monster will make it stick around for longer, while excessive demand will make the Trainer quickly lose favor with the monster. Only one monster can be tamed at a time at the early levels. [attr="class","skill"]Transmutation: Alchemists are naturally aligned with the power of magical equipment, able to use the Adventurer skill [Equipment Mastery: Magical] as a Beginner-level skill without having it take up a skill slot. Their research also gives them an advantage in fighting Artificial Life to deal an additional 10% damage. If [Equipment Mastery: Magical] is already learned through racial or class bonuses, Magitech damage increases by 10%. [attr="class","h3"]Equipment [attr="class","b2"] [attr="class","skill"]Armor: Starter Cloth Armor: A basic set of cloth armor made from cheap fabric. They are not really protective, but they are better than going naked—probably. You probably do want to replace these asap, when you think about it. [attr="class","skill"]Left Hand: Starter Rapier: A thin sword with complete emphasis in thrusting. A starter weapon designed for novice adventurers, made out of cheap iron. It is well-balanced and easy to use but doesn’t hit particularly hard at all. You probably should get this replaced as soon as you can. [attr="class","skill"]Right Hand: Apprentice Grimoire: A one-handed apprentice’s book of spells designed for novice mages, made out of cheap materials. Doesn’t particularly have too many pages, but it is better than nothing. If used by a magic class, you get the ability to shoot a basic magic attack with a range of 2 meters.
