In a quiet corner of Savill Flower Grove, there stood a lovely little cottage in the midst of a garden. With walls made of red bricks, roofing made of greenish tiles, and white-wash windows, it was a modest one-floor house. The scenery around it changed as the seasons changed; from a lush green to a fiery red and glittering gold to a pristine white. The garden in around it, tended to by the house’s owners and by various landers and adventurers who were kind enough to help , had a great many varieties of flowering plants, bushes and shrubs. Tall trees lined the boundary of the garden that surrounded the cottage and some small fruit trees stood in a fenced area. There were also rows of root crops, mostly carrots. The owners of the house were none other than Kumori and @dindeen who were both fond of animals and nature in general.
A short while after their wedding and when the guild house of Aeryn had been sufficiently established, the assassin purchased personal housing outside of Londinium. In the area where they frequented and eventually fell their first field boss Maya-chwan, the couple built the cottage as a getaway from the busy life in the city. It was a place that they could return to if adventuring ever was too hectic, but turning a house into a home was not without trouble. Since the land had been corrupted and the Grove itself was just a shadow of its former glory, a lot of work had to be put into tilling the earth so that it would be able to support plant life once again. Much of the damaged, sandy top soil was removed and replaced with a mix of compost and healthier soil from deep in the Greatwoods. The subsoil, which was reddish and mostly seemed unharmed by the corruption, was untouched and remained as the base of the garden. The area on which the old cottage stood did not get any soil make-over, but the house itself which was included with the lot when it was purchased needed some work done to it.
The garden soil was allowed to settle in naturally while the house was being renovated. Around that time, the couple slowed down their adventuring and oversaw the work to be done on the cottage. It took quite a while because some reconstruction was done by landers who had to work slowly but steadily. The metal fittings were forged by the blacksmith Caerbannog so it was done quickly, but scrapping and then putting together the wood, stone and metal parts still took some time. When the cottage was finally almost as good as new, the landers who worked on the house and lived in the nearby settlement were paid handsomely for their diligence. Some farmers were then hired to arrange the garden as the couple watched them and learned the basics of gardening, just enough to be able to keep the plants and trees alive after the farmers were done with their job.
Once the garden work was done and the cottage was renovated, the couple began to arrange their rooms. There was a lot of work and research to be done so that they could furnish it completely, but in the mean time, items that could be purchased from Saint Pancras Station would do just as well. The house only had the basic rooms with one additional room, a library. The couple, even in the real world, was interested in playing video games and reading; since their everyday was already spent “playing” a video game, their other hobby was sated by the amount of books that they acquire from landers and adventures alike. Special rooms for crafting were built and left to be used in the guild house; the samurai Caerbannog had suggested to her husband that they leave all hectic work in the city and just sit back and relax when they were in their own house.
On the outside, the Schwarz-Oshiro Estate was modest saved for the colorful and neatly arranged rows of flowering shrubs in its garden. The occasional appearance of the elite centipede Mukade IX was a rare sight in that part of the land, but the two other occupants of the estate, the rabbits Hyzenthlay and Hrairoo, were pretty standard fare for the Grove. On the inside, the cottage was nothing close to grand; it was homey, reminiscent of the life that Ryuu and Kyuu left behind in the real world. Perhaps, over time, they will acquire trinkets and trophies that would spice up their home; but in the mean time, it was rather simple compared to what one would expect from the leader of a guild and his young wife.
