Do you believe in ghosts?
The fifth hall made Saber’s happy, almost there, just about done, ecstatic emotion pull a complete one-eighty and bail on him. Said emotion left in a smoke cloud and vanished after leaving a collection of rubber trails. In essence, Saber was pissed and it wasn’t because he had one more hall and one more puzzle but because of what the puzzle actually was. Just as he passed through the two heavy doors and into the final hall, he could almost guess what he was going to have to deal with this time, and he was quite unhappy with it. Even so, the Assassin walked into the room and prepared his mind for a headache; this was going to suck, and it was going to suck really bad.
The room was a chess arena, to explain it simply. In the direct center of the room there was a massive chessboard and there were four queens on each side; four white, four black. Flanking the board to the left and right sat a set of two risers with chairs; they were like theater chairs that a nobleman would sit in when watching an opera. The chairs were large, had thick cushions, and looked as if they were brand new. Up to the left and rights of the lower risers were raised and separated rooms, most likely for Very Important Persons (VIPs). The organization of the room reminded Saber much of an actual theatre, with the chessboard being the stage. However, with a stage came the actual actors. These actors had two places to stand, one for the white king, one for the black king. There were two raised platforms that overlooked the chessboard and rails which protected the person from falling over the edge and down to the board itself. Where Saber was standing, he could see that both Kings would have a small square to stand on that not only placed them in the direct center, as well as in view of everyone, but also designated them as the king of their actual side. In Saber’s case, his square was black. As expected of a place with magic, in front of that square and attached to the rail was a small plaque. On it was the image of the chessboard, but in glowing colors. It reminded Saber of a touch-screen back in the real world and it was probably how the players moved their pieces in an actual match.
However, this was not a chess match and it was not set up as one in any way. No, this was a massive, oversized puzzle room. The actual pieces on the chessboard sat in front of the risers, and seemed to be looking on with anticipation as Saber stepped up and onto the small black square. The Assassin looked around the room slowly, viewing everything that he possibly could. Though there wasn’t very much to see aside for the massive room and the impatient chess pieces. Saber wiggled his nose at the sight and looked up across the room. From where he was, he had control of the black pieces most likely… but who controlled the white? The thought of having to face off against someone made him grimace, but Saber would not let himself be outdone. Not by a game of strategy, which he flourished in.
Looking down, Saber checked out the plaque which was molded in with the rail. It faded from the chessboard and that image was replaced with one of a hand, as well as instructions for Saber;
Saber didn’t even think twice about reaching out towards the plaque, nor did he hesitate once his hand was placed against the dusty and cold object. Upon registering his hand’s pressure, there was the familiar chime of a clock. At the sound, Blumpy wiggled and let out a giggle. Saber didn’t react and simply stared at the plaque, watching as the small screen thing flashed green. Once the hand mark vanished, Saber removed his hand as to not block the words which began to appear. They faded in in a ghastly manner, and Saber was reminded that the person he was being toyed with loved to be dramatic. Well, at least the words were legible.
“Double…?” Saber whispered as he finished reading and as he did so, he heard footsteps. Looking up, the Assassin watched as a white misty figure took its place in the White King’s square. At the sight, fury and rage immediately filled Saber’s body. If one could see them, his ears would have been shown to be a heated red. The white misty figure was a complete doppelganger of Saber, pumpkin and all, but was mostly see-through. Yet, Saber could tell that it was much more than just a cloud of air; this guy was real, and it was like looking into a mirror.
“I’ll play your game… And when I see your face, I’ll slap that smile right off it…” Saber rumbled to himself and looked down at the plaque as the image changed once more. This time, it was the chessboard that he had previously seen and all eight queens were placed and labeled with their colored crowns; four white across the top, four black across the bottom. Saber pulled his lips tight against each other and looked up towards his White Opposite, narrowing his eyes.
“All or nothing, ey Blumpy?” With that, Saber looked to his far right queen; it was time to conquer this mansion and show the mastermind who he was dealing with.

“You have made it this far, Adventurer. But before you can pass, you must solve this last. If you accept, place your hand onto the square before you and we may begin...”

“You have been provided with Eight angry Queens, Adventurer, and it is time to test your spatial awareness skills. Place the Eight so that they cannot act on their hate. But beware, your double is quite impatient. Good luck.”
