'Cause Reasons
“ Why do I keep getting in these messes?” A puzzled Leo thought while being surrounded by a pirate crew in a place that seemed to come from an old style fantasy horror. Rests of wrecked ships laid around the shoreline, sharps rocks emerging from the sea’s depths and an eerie mist that surrounded the area, not exactly the most comforting place to be for sure. Oh, and let’s not forget one little detail, this pirate crew was composed entirely by skeleton warriors, if this doesn’t scream horror movie what would? Among these skeleton pirates there was one that stood out for its imposing figure and strangely fancy clothes, a captain skeleton with a whooping level of 35. “ Return what’s mine, you filthy thief!” The captain yelled at the poor adventurer, his voice was as heavy as the mist and supernatural. Leo looked around himself with a not so confident look in eyes, he was surrounded and the mobs around him were all high levelled, he couldn’t even think about how to defeat that captain skeleton alone, that thing was too high levelled for him. The situation was grim and Leo couldn’t curse himself more for taking such a strange job out of a lander. He unsheathed his Windsor aqua longsword and then looked at the small chest he was holding on his other arm, just what the hell was in there to make that old lander so crazy anyway? SOME HOURS BEFORE
“ THERE’S A TREASURE I TELL YA” An old man yelled inside the tavern on the Thames coastline, “ A BIG, BIG TREASURE WORTH MILLIONS I SAY!” He continued, he tried without success to convince an adventurer to help him find this treasure he was talking about. For Leo that old man looked like those old vets that participated in wars and returned with few screws loose in their head. His attire consisted in dirty sea travel clothes and a peculiar black bandanna on his head. “ You’re a loony, leave me alone” The adventurer truncated the conversation and then got out of the tavern, he appeared extremely annoyed. Leo watched the whole scene from his seat and it didn’t fail to give him a little chuckle, he closed his eyes and went for another long sip of his drink. It wasn’t a particular day and Leo didn’t plan on training or do any other stuff, the only reason he visited the shoreline was that he never explored the place before, in the end he just found a small village that specialized in shipping and sea travels. Leo continued sipping his drink slowly, at each sip a figure started taking shape in the glass , when he finished his drink Leo realized that the shape was in fact the distorted image of that same old man reflected on the glass. Leo almost spit out from the surprise, the man was just a few inches far from him and his big toothless smilewasn’t really a good sight of any sort. “ YAAR YOUNG TRAVELER” He said after Leo finally acknowledged his presence, “ You’re an adventurer, aren’t ya? Then listen to this old wench here for I have a big business offer to-“ “ Might as well stop you there already, I heard you with that other guy and I’m not interested” The swashbuckler responded, he should’ve seen it coming that the old man would target him anyway. He got up from his chair he started heading out, but this time the old man didn’t want to let him go, “ Ya sure? It’s a really big deal!” Leo shook his head once again, slightly more annoyed than before, “ But ya must get this chance! I’ve asked adventurers all day and they all refused!” At this point Leo’s brow started to twitch in annoyance, just his usual luck. He continued to refuse the old man’s offer and he even tried to walk away from him, everything he did though wasn’t successful at driving away that crazy man, he practically glued himself to Leo until he would accept his offer. After a few minutes, Leo couldn’t stand it any longer, his wolf features started appearing as his levels of annoyance and anger increased. “ Ya really, really, really su—“ “ ALRIGHT, FINE, I’LL F#&%£$N HELP YOU, JUST BACK OFF WILL YOU? "Leo finally leashed out, if accepting his request was the only way to dispose of this old man then he had no choice, or really, he had the choice of just running away but he had a feeling that old man wouldn’t let him live quietly if he ever returned to the shorelines. “ YAHAAR, I KNEW YOU WERE UP TO THE TASK, meet me at the dock in an hour, I have some preparations t do before we start this travel” “ T-travel?” Leo muttered while his wolf ears fell on their sides, just what was he going to get into? About an hour later, Leo kept his word and waited for the old man to show up. He sat at the pier with his elbows rested on his legs and his hands on his chin in a very annoyed pose. He always wondered why such things always happened to him, people have been telling him ages ago that he was far too nice. Beside this unfortunate encounter, his visit to the shores wasn’t that bad, the village was calm and watching the waves on the pier gave Leo a quite a relaxing feeling. The reflected its rays into the majestic river and a gentle breeze messed Leo’s hair, if only that strange old man didn’t show up at all the Leo could have really enjoyed a relaxing day for once.
“OI BOI, GLAD YOU’RE PUNCTUAL”
Suddenly Leo heard a strong guttural voice that could belong to no one but that crazy old man, he turned his head and saw the old man aboard what looked like the sorriest ship in all of England’s history. Pieces were clearly falling over and it didn’t look stable either, Leo didn’t know what the hell was happening but he knew he didn’t want to board that ship.
“What is that…thing? Would you please tell me what the hell is going on here?”
Leo said with a confused look on his face. Upon listening to Leo and his insult to the ship, the old man snorted and replied:
”Don’t judge me boat by its looks mate, this ship has been in more adventurers than you’ll probably ever be”
Look like Leo managed to hit a particular button,
“Now, come aboard and I’ll tell ya errthing”
He concluded while tossing a walking board over the young adventurer. Leo sighed and went aboard, no matter what that old man told him, that ship wasn’t giving him any good vibes.
Once they were both on the hip, the old man put a hand inside his shirt and swiftly took out what appeared to be a medium sized scroll. Leo looked for the first time the old man with curiosity in his eyes and continued observing as he opened the scroll. Inside, there was a rudimentary drawing depicting a segmented path that lead to a big red X mark, really stereotypical for being a treasure map.
“I found this while cleaning some old barrels that we found after a storm, they were probably from that strange island on the river, or at least it’s where the map is pointing”
He said with a peculiar spark in his eyes, Leo looked at the map and responded,
“So that’s the big deal you were talking of? A treasure on an island? And I guess the reason I’m here is to protect you, right?”
“Exactly, boi! Doesn’t it get your blood pumpin’? An exciting treasure hunt across the sea! I heard on that island there are many strange creatures and a legend says that the dead come back from their sleep to pray on the living”
Leo put two of his fingers to his forehead, this whole thing was just getting too much for him to handle,
“First…this is a river, and second…do you even know what we’re searching or we’re just following that red mark?”
“Of course not, what we’re searching for is Captain James treasure!”
“Captain…James?”
Leo repeated those words, suddenly his curiosity sparked again,
“yup, I recognize the markings on that map. Captain James was a renowned pirate of the old times that attacked every trade ship that dared to sail off, for a brief time he controlled the entire river and its surroundings”
Leo raised an eyebrow, a river pirate? Now that was peculiar if not outright strange.
“They say that he accumulated riches beyond belief and that they’re still inside his ship on that island”
He concluded. Leo was intrigued by that story, every passing day he came to realize more and more that he wasn’t trapped in some sort of game.
“Alright, at least we’re not searching randomly...let’s get his done quickly…”
Leo said wihle crossing his arms on the boat and looking far away into the river, the old man smiled and prepared to sail off, finally starting the treasure hunting.

As the two men sailed away, Leo realized he hadn’t taken a boat trip in a really long time. In real life there weren’t many opportunities to be in one and he was just too busy with his studies. He actually found them very relaxing, especially watching the sea as the boat navigated through.
Leo walked forward and put his arms on the boats handles, he watched the great river in front of the boat and the sun reflecting its rays on the water, at least the scenery was good.
Apparently, the trip was longer than Leo had imagined first, 30 minutes passed but there was no sign of the strange island that man was talking. Leo quickly grew bored and walked back to the old man, who was busy sailing the ship to its location,
“Say, is that island really that dangerous? No one in the village wanted to go there and when I tried to ask for information my questions were always met with negativity”
Leo said while resting his back on the mast and crossing his arms, the old man smiled and replied,
“As I said, there are many mysterious creatures and that legend about the deads, but there’s also more”
Leo raised an eyebrow in curiosity,
“The reason they all fear so much that island is that most of the ships that go there never return back, the reason is that the island’s shore is guarded by a barrier of rocks that make navigation almost impossible, only sailors with the maximum expertise and experience can hope to pass through”
Leo raised his other eyebrow and glomped,
“So…You’re telling me that we’re going to sail on waters that are almost impossible to sail?”
“Yup”
“…With THIS ship?”
“That’s right!”
“aaand…YOU’re guiding it through?
“You bet it”
The old man showed his biggest toothless smile and concentrated again on the navigation. Leo just stood there staring with an horrified look the old man, he was now certain that he was going to horribly die that day.
After a few minutes Leo felt something change in the air, the area around became enveloped in a thick mistand the waters suddenly started to get agitated.
“Looks like we’re near the island, boi”
The old man said cheerfully; Leo just looked around and tried to find the safest place on that little ship and made sure to tighten his grip to that spot like his life depended on it, he half closed his eyes in annoyance and replied to the old man with a really dull tone:
“Yeah…bring it on…”
From his place, Leo could clearly see where the ship was going and that sight was not comforting him in the slightest. He could already see giants rocks protruding from the river, leaving only an incredibly small passage to get through, and with that current navigating the ship there seemed like suicide.
Leo prepared for the worst, but his expectations appeared to be very mistaken. He couldn’t believe his eyes, the boat not only didn’t crash on those rocks, but it dodged them with incredible agility, the fact that it was passing through that narrow corridor made by the rocks was beyond stunning.
“Tell me boi, do you still think this ‘thing’ like you called isn’t a good ship?”
Leo stared at the old man with unprecedented surprise, sure, the fact that the boat was sailing through the place was by itself incredible, but the fact that this old man managed to sail here with a with a boat in these conditions was just incredible.
“Heh…Looks like you hid from me some aces up your sleeve, old man”
Leo said with a small grin. After a few minutes of sailing, the boat finally surpassed the barrier of rocks, a thicker mist enveloped the area and Leo could only watch in awe as gigantic rests of fallen ships rose from the shore, they were innumerable and each looking form a different time than other,
“Welcome to the graveyard of ships, boi”

The place wasn’t really giving Leo a good vibe at all, it seemed like a scene taken out of a horror movie. Huge destroyed ships emerging from the depths of the river, the wind howling a chilling melody over that deathly silence and also that thick mist, all good ingredients for a place where you wouldn’t want to set your feet into not even if paid.
By now the sun had already set and the moon slowly rose from the horizon, making this shore of decayed ships even more terrifying. Leo had never seen something like that and could do nothing but stare at the magnificent place that presented before his eyes. He would have never believed that his eyes one day would see a place like this, in the other world there was certainly no such place for sure. The main reason he was so shocked was that Leo was only a normal man, he couldn’t have known that one day he would travel to a place that seemed ike it was taken straight from an old novel of pirates.
“Quite a chilling sight isn’t it?”
The old man asked him, Leo continued to look forward and responded,
“It’s definitely something, I’ll give you that”
He then turned his body around and faced him,
“So, where do we have to search for captain James treasure?”
He asked the man while stretching his body, he was honestly starting to feel pumped about this treasure hunting mission and couldn’t wait to get some action. Of course, somewhere deep down himself he had always wanted to participate in a pirate treasure hunt, it was like one of his child delusions was finally becoming a reality.
“Let’s see…”
The old man said while taking out his scroll,
“Another bit and….we’re here boi”
The man said and then looked high up in front of him. Leo raised an eyebrow and turned his body around only to found a gigantic ship before his eyes,
“Don’t tell me that is…”
“Yup, that’s captain’s James ship, hard to miss, really”
He was right, the ship stood out among the others by a good margin and something about it gave it a mysterious feeling. The ship was heavily damaged, but apparently it was strong enough to keep itself from sinking into the river, the sails were completely torn apart and the most damaged part of the ship seemed to be main board, it seemed like a tough battle was fought there. Still, even with all this damage, the ship gave a strong sense of strength and dominance.
“This is where you’ll have to do your part boi”
The old man said to the adventurer while his head disappeared into the cabin, he took some tools out of the room and returned to the adventurer with a rope attached to a metal trident,
“Use this to board on the ship and then return with everything you can carry, We’ll be rich, filthy rich I say!”
The old man laughed while giving Leo the rope,
“Yeah…sure”
Leo said with an insecure smile, even if they managed to reach a place so hard to cross it still seemed to be a little too easy, he just hoped there would be no more surprises for him once he was on the ship.

Leo took the rope and looked up at the gigantic ship above him, he had to lasso the hand plank of the hip like a cowboy or something like that, things kept getting stranger by the second. Leo took the extremis of the rope with his hand and started rotating around in big circles, to be honest he never used a lasso before and felt kinda awkward using one now. After the rope gained a good amount of speed and momentum, Leo threw it on the ship and made sure the trident locked onto something on the ship. He tested the rope by pulling his own weight behind and found it stable enough for him to climb on it,
“Alright, I’m going then”
Leo said to the old man before climbing the huge ship. Ste after step, Leo didn’t have the feeling on being on a destroyed ship, the wood seemed incredibly durable, it could probably handle a cannonball without much problems even in that sorry state. Leo reflected on the old man’s words, this captain james was a feared pirate, of course he would have a ship that was at least capable of taking some punishment.
With one last struggle, Leo boarded the ship and stared at what presented before his eyes. When he was on the old man’s boat he couldn’t see much but now Leo realized that a huge battle was fought on that ship for sure. Everything on the ship was completely destroyed, weapons scattered around and, most important, many skeletons were aboard. Leo didn’t have the time to think about what the hell happened on that ship, he only wanted to get whatever treasure was there and go away, this place was giving him only bad vibes.
Now, where would be the treasure room on that ship? Leo thought, the only way to find something was to search every room of that ship he feared, he didn’t have any clues and the map didn’t give any further info.
The most logical option to start was the hold, that was the only part of the ship that could contain the amount of riches this pirate was supposed to have. After locating the door that lead to the interior of the boat, Leo took out a wooden lighter out of his inventory and used it to make some light in the otherwise completely dark interior. The interior wasn’t that different from the main board: weapons, skeletons and booze all scattered on the ground, it was safe to assume that they all died in a gruesome battle. Leo continued to go deeper into the ship but there was no sign of treasure, only more skeletons and booze. In the end, Leo reached the hold but to his surprise he found nothing but supplies, weapons and ( you guessed it) skeletons. At this point Leo began to doubt that there was even a treasure in the first place, maybe that man made some mistakes or….
“or he’s just a senile old man….”
Leo sighed , what did he expect? He chose to help him in the first place just so he wouldn’t bother him anyway. Leo made sure he searched every possible room of the huge ship but unfortunately he found nothing. Disappointed by that sorry treasure hunt, Leo made his way to the exterior but….funny thing…the ship was so big he just got kinda lost there, the fact he had limited visibility with his lighter also wasn’t helping him the slightest.
“perfect timing, this just keeps getting better and bett- huh?”
Leo said before noticing something, he did indeed miss a room and he just knew that room wasn’t like the other ones. The door to this room featured a large skull with two handles and there was something written therewith what appeared to be blood. The letters were stained and difficult to distinguish, Leo took a closer look and smiled wildy after reading what they said:
“Capn. James!”
He said, full of newfound hope. He finally found the captain’s cabin, maybe he could there he could find something. The door required a little force to be opened but Leo didn’t shy away from it, he kicked it open and entered the room to claim his earned booty.
The room was definitely different from the others and in ways more gruesome than leo would have preferred. The walls were full of stuffed heads with various degree of decay, at the center stood a desk and behind that a big throne with a skeleton sitting on it. This skeleton wasn’t like the others, he wore fancy clothes and a pirate hat on top, he was also definitely much bigger than the others. That was the skeleton of Captain James, Leo wondered how terrifying this man was during his prime, judging by his skeleton he was a colossus, probably over 2.1 meters in height . Leo looked fascinated at the skeleton of the former pirate leader and walked closer, after some steps he noticed James was holding something in his arms but Leo couldn’t tell what it was, his mantle obscured his vision. Leo shrugged away James’s mantle and suddenly a big grin appeared on his face, it was a medium sized chest.
“Now we’re talking!”
Leo said happily, he put his hands on the chest and looked at skeleton,
“You don’t mind, do ya? It’s not like you need it or som-“
Leo stopped himself as suddenly James’ skeleton hands moved, gripping Leo’s hand. The holes in his skulls started filling with a spectral blue energy and stared right into Leo’s soul,
“Leave what is mine, thief!”

Leo stared at those bright blue eyes with something he hadn’t felt in a long time: sudden fear. Those eyes weren’t natural, they were brought on this world from the deepest bottoms of hell itself, eyes that stared right into Leo’s soul. The swashbuckler didn’t say anything from the shock and his wolf features appeared by the strong emotion he was feeling, but fortunately his own natural reflexes and his survival instincts kicked in at the right moment. His first reaction was to kick the hellish creature with all the strength he could summon, they do say to not scare a wild beast after all.
Leo’s kick penetrated the skeleton’s robe and finally met with its bones, giving a kick to a skeleton was a strange feeling and one he didn’t want to experience again soon. James was knocked back a few feet behind with its throne and most importantly he lost its grip on the chest he was holding. After he kicked the skeleton, Leo started to shake up from the initial shock and looked at the once feared pirate rise from his former throne. The skeleton quickly rose up and showed to Leo just how titanic he was size, Leo looked like a little child in comparison and he was a tall man in his own right too. A name tag appeared above captain James: <captain skeleton – lvl 35> all written in blue. Leo was just level 26 that day and captain james wasn’t only almost 10 levels above him, but he was a strong type monster too.
Leo wasn’t a coward, but he knew better than fighting a hopeless fight, he wasn’t only at a disadvantage at levels, but the size of the room was too little for him to effectively fight, there was only one way out of there and that was to run away. Moving as quickly as he could, Leo took the chest under his arm and sprinted out of the room, only to be stuttered a bit when the skeleton screamed a mighty roar that sent chills down Leo’s spine. He continued running but at every turn he found out that the roar had the worst kind of effect, the skeletons that Leo kept encountering inside the ships were slowly rising from the ground, captain james was actually activating them.
“Great, this keeps getting better”
Fortunately Leo could find his way out of the ship’s interior, he slammed the door open with a kick but all he could find on the other side was a horde of skeletons awaiting him armed to the teeth. Leo snorted and unsheathed one of his Windsor swords, a futile attempt at defense but he still had to try somehow. A second Later another horde of skeletons appeared through the same door he slammed open and surrounded him, captain James appeared next. He towered over everyone on the ship and stared at Leo with those blue glowing eyes of death,
“Return what is mine, thief”
He kept kept shouting while slowly approaching Leo. There was clear escape route, the only way out would be if he tried to go…
“up…”
He said to himself while looking a the main ship’s tree, which stood slightly behind James and a bit over the horde of skeletons.
“OLD MAN, IF YOU HEAR ME, START SAILING OUT”
He shouted, response followed quickly after,
“WHAT BOI? ARE YOU CRAZY?”
“JUST DO WHAT I TELL YOU, I’LL CATH UP TO YOU”
The old man groaned but he decided to follow the boy’s order, he removed the anchor and prepared to sail out. This was the most Leo could do, at least if his plan failed the old man would be safe from those skeletons, Leo could just revive at the cathedral anyway. He looked at the chest under his arm, he really wanted to know what was inside it, it would be a real shame if his plan failed.
“You want this chest, do ya? Then take it!”
Leo said and then he threw the chest high in the air and over captain James. The skeleton followed the chest with its eyes and that gave leo the chance to strike. He unsheathed his other Windsor sword and sprinted as fast as he could to the skeleton, when he was right on top of captain james he activated Mirage dealer . The skill took effect and once Leo slashed James he teleported behind the skeleton, then he quickly sheathed back his swords and caught the flying chest and with the other hand he stole the captain’s hat, why? He wanted to see if he could manage to do something later.
James turned around angrier than ever, Leo’s attack only took just little percentage of its HP but the swashbuckler didn’t stay around to see it. He put the hat on his head sprinted again at the main tree, then he clapped his hands together to activate <ante up>. His two starting longswords appeared out of his inventory , after Leo arrived at the tree he hung up on one of the cords that went straight up to the sails.
He could now try his big escape, but not before doing something he had always dreamed of doing one day, something that he saw on a movie long ago,
“Gentlmen”
He said with a big grin,
“Today you will remember this day, as the day you almost caught captain Stryke!”
Then he gave the command to cut out the part of the cord that connected to the tree, a moment later he was launched up in the air, maybe a little too up . The hat flew away and Leo stared in horror as he was launched up in the sky, thanks to a strange coincidence though he was launched in the direction of the old man’s ship. Leo actually rejoiced for a moment, before reminding himself that he still had to fall a 20 meter fall,
“This is gonna hurt….”
Leo said with his eyes half closed and his wolf ears falling to the sides of his head, he then waited patiently for the inevitable. The only thing he could remember next was his head hitting on some wood planks like a bullet and his HP quickly falling to the 2 digits mark.

“you okay there boi? Can you hear me?”
Leo heard a voice call him, he probably KOed himself when he took that fall. The swashbuckler groaned and sit up while massaging his head, there wasn’t a single bone in his whole body that didn’t hurt. When he opened his eyes he found himself on the man’s ship and according to his stat screen he had been just a few digits of HP from death. It was interesting how that fall wasn’t only unable to kill him, but also it didn’t even provide him with any major injuries, Leo just felt his whole body aching like crazy. Fortunately this world was still dictated by the rules of a video game, and that meant that no matter how someone hurt himself, some time resting would heal any possible injury in the world.
The old man rejoiced as he finally had a clear evidence that Leo didn’t pass away,
“Thank the gods you’re aright, I thought you were a goner for a while”
“Yeah…yeah…”
He responded, still massaging his head, unfortunately he didn’t have any recovery items so he had to wait till his own HP regeneration healed off his wounds and dulled out the pain he was feeling. He turned his head around and saw the mid sized chest that was the cause of all his pain that day, apparently the chest had made it with him on the old man’s ship, it was still closed shut tough.
“Haven’t you tried opening the chest yet?" Leo asked to the old man,
“Patience, boi, I’ll tell you that the surprise will be even greater when we open it in that damned tavern where everyone will eat their hearts out”
Leo chuckled a bit, it was clear that the old man held a grudge against whoever rejected him and his treasure hunt.
A while passed, the tavern was beginning get a bit more active with the passing hours and suddenly someone opened the door with kick while yelling.
“LOOK HERE, I TOLD YA ALL THERE WAS A TREASURE THERE”
The old man shouted while holding the chest triumphantly in the air, everyone in the tavern was left with their jaws open, who would have suspected that senile old fool would be right?
Leo tried to enter the tavern as quietly as he could, he didn’t want any unwanted attention, though staying with that old man was making his efforts all too difficult. The two men then sit up at a table, Leo crossed his arms on the table and told the old man with a grin,
“Come on now, open it up, let’s see what this stuff is all about”
“You aren’t savouring the experience boi! Savour it!”
The old man replied while opening the chest with perhaps too much care, once the box was opened Leo stared at the inside only to see a small little pendant in the shape of a heart.
“WHAT?”
He burst out while standing up and kicking the chair beside him,
“IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE?”
Leo couldn’t believe it, all his efforts wasted on a worthless pendant of very small value. The tavern burst out in a glorious laugh, apparently there weren’t wrong at all about the old man, who was still watching the pendant with awe.
“You know what is this, boi?”
The old man said with glimmering eyes,
“I’ve heard it somewhere, but I thought it was all fairy talk of old sea wolves. Captain james, even with all his famed treasure had one thing he truly considered his most precious thing. They it was a heart shaped pendant and inside it would contain the picture of a woman who stole his heart and died for an unknown disease not long after.”
He opened the pendant and found what he was looking for, inside the pendant there was the picture of a beautiful woman with long curly hair and eyes as deep as the sea itself.
“They say that James was ready to stop living as a pirate for her but after his death he became even more ruthless and greedy, the only thing that would calm him, staring at the picture of the woman who once loved him despite his life as a pirate.”
Leo calmed out a bit and stared at them old man, he didn’t think the treasure hunt was a failure at all, he looked at that pendant like it was the most precious thing he had ever seen in his life. Leo somehow understood him, if what he said was true then that pendant was indeed captain james’ most precious treasure.
Leo sighed and started heading out, he had enough of this and only wanted some sleep,
“Wait, where are you going boi? We haven’t decided on how to share the treasure”
“It’s only one piece, and I’ll leave it you, you seem far more interested in it then I am, I’ll just be content with this whole experience I guess”
He responded while walking to the door,
“Oh, I see. Thank you for your collaboration then, I would have never done it without you”
Leo raised his arm in acknowledgment and walked out of the of the bar. He sighed as he looked at the star filled sky, he truly hoped he could find something of more value. Leo then spent several minutes reorganizing his inventory, after some time passed he saw the old man go out of the tavern and head out to the port again, what was his intention?
Leo started spying him out of curiosity, apparently the old man was ready to ship out again.
“Hey, isn’t it a bit late for you to sail the river again?”
Leo said to the old man, who was just boarding the ship,
“Oh, it’s you, I was about to return to that island”
“YOU WHAT?”
Leo lashed out in surprise, the old man just laughed and responded,
“Don’t worry, I haen’t gone totally crazy yet, I just want to take back the pendant where we found it. You see, this was the only thing that reminded james of his love and the only thing that would soothe his aching heart. I guess it’s better if this pendant stays where the soul of its owner is resting, as a fellow man sailing sweet waters this is the least I can do.”
Leo looked at the old man in annoyance, then turned around and tried to walk away, only to find that he couldn’t. Deep within he felt bad for taking captain james’ memento of his lost love, the old man was right. He sighed like he had never done in his life and turned around to board the ship,
“Alright…I’ll go with you…just to see that you make it out alive”
He said without sounding too convincing. The old man smiled and then the two man sailed again on the river, accompanied by the moon on another quest.
