[Crafting/Solo] Two blades one user

Oddy wiped the sweat off his face as he carried the last of the materials inside the forge in Bailin´s house. Oddy opened up the interface to look at the recipe that he would make.


“Mmmh, so let´s see enough materials for a mold and two weapons, so that means I´ll be able to make myself two katanas or something similar. Right, let´s do this!” Said Oddy as he grabbed the coal that he bought and went to the forge where he put in the coal and then the magic started.


The bellows went up and down to blow more air in to the forge and as it was heating up Oddy grinned and put on his leather apron, grabbed the tong and with it he grabbed one of the pieces of metal needed for the mold and put in the forge where it was being heated to a suitable heat level where he could hammer it to the finished product, in the time that the metal slowly heated up to the correct degree of heat, he filled the soak tub with the Quencher and then went back to see how far the metal was.


When the metal was at the correct heat level, he grabbed it with the tong and took it with him to the anvil where he started to work on the glowing orange metal. With every hit from the smithing hammer sparks flew from the metal and with each hit the metal took the shape of a mold more and more, as he quenched the work piece and the steam came off it in one long wave and Oddy put it aside for he went to get the second piece of metal and started to heat it up as well, he made sure that the heat was keeping it correct level and thus waited a few minutes for the metal to heat up.


“Mmmh, as soon as the Mold is Ready, I should be able to select if it will be a weapon mold or an armour mold.” Murmured Oddy as he quickly read the description of the recipe and what it would do. “Should allow me to produce weapons faster than before, of course the mold will be consumed after a while but for now it should suffice just enough.” Oddy grabbed the tong from the table and went to carefully pick the glowing work piece out of the fire and carried it back to the anvil where he started to smith it with the hammer, orange sparks flying off the metal work piece with each hit.


As the work piece neared completion, Oddy quenched it in the soak tub before reuniting it with its counterpart and it melded together to form a mold, then a menu popped up and as Oddy stood there with the hammer in his right hand with sweat on his body and dripping from his chin, he selected the option for the mold to be a weapon mold and watched as the Mold clearly changed name to weapon mold and had the description for it as well.


“Now, to get the other materials and build myself a katana or two.” Said Oddy while he picked up the weapon mold with both hands after he put the hammer on the anvil and brought it to the smelter where he made it sure it was set up correctly.

“Mmmh…Now for the metal and I´ll need to replace the normal quencher with the specially purchased version for my weapons, no problemo.” Said Oddy as he went back to empty the soak tub of the obsolete quencher and then put the new quencher in, as he put the new quencher he made a note in his mind to make sure the smelter was heated up enough that the metal would melt.


“Mmmh, now to grab the metal and smelt it down then pour it in the pattern let it cool down and harden open up the cast, put the finishing touches on it, sharpen the weapon, decorate the hilt a bit and voila, I´ll have my own Katana.” Said Oddy as he grabbed the purchased coal for this objective and heated up the smelter, as the smelter heated up he grabbed the metal and put it in the smelter, as the metal slowly changed to its liquid form, Oddy made sure the preparations were correct and the necessary tools were ready to be used. As the molten metal flowed freely in the smelter, Oddy turned open an opening and the molten iron flowed into the cup and then Oddy grabbed the cup with a tong and carried it over carefully to the pattern, then he slowly poured the molten iron that was flowing in the cup in the pouring cup placed on the pattern and watched as the iron flowed through the pouring cup through the sprue, filling every inch of the pattern through the gating system in the pattern itself.

As the iron cooled off thanks to the pattern, the cast was broken open carefully and Oddy made sure that the weapon was not broken in any kind of way, as he took out the cooled off Katana, Oddy looked at it and grinned like a kid in a candy store.


“Great! My first melee weapon in here, now to get the things to make the hilt look nicer and sharpen the blade then I´m done and will need to start the process again to make its twin.” With a smug look on his face Oddy grabbed some red fabric and wrapped it diagonally around the hilt as the red fabric was wrapped around it and tightly secured, Oddy grabbed a whetstone and started to sharpen the blade as he finished sharpening the blade, Oddy went outside with it and watched as the rays of light from the pale winter sun hit the blade and reflected Oddy was satisfied and named it.


“I will call you Iron Katana “Jaeger” and I will keep you forever with me in battle and outside battle together with your sister sword.” Then Oddy carefully polished Jaeger and put it in the corresponding sheath that also had a red fabric and then put it against the wall, before walking away to start the process over again. But before that he went to the river and drank the cool water and plashed his face with it, then after that he got an apple and ate it to restore some of his energy.

After refreshing himself with water and eating some food Oddy was ready to tackle the smelter again as he grabbed a new piece of the specially purchased coal and put it in the smelter to heat it up to the right level where the iron would melt down in a liquid form and he could then turn open the valve so it would flow out right in to the cup from which he would then carry it with a tong back to the pattern and start the casting.


As the iron melted down and became liquid, Oddy turned open the valve and saw the molten iron flowing straight in to the cup, he then proceeded to pick it up and hold it with a tong and carried it over to the pattern where he poured the molten iron in the pouring cup and saw the molten iron flowing in the mold where it would cool down and become the sister sword to the Iron Katana “Jaeger” Oddy wiped some sweat from his face while waiting for the iron to cool down. “Mmmh, when this weapon has been created I´ll have two katanas instead of one sure, I´ll get a penalty for dual wielding but it will be worth it as I´ll have two weapons instead of one to kill the enemy with.”


Oddy chuckled and shook his head while starting to move towards the cast to check if it was time to break it open.

As Oddy approached the mold, he was aware that the metal had cooled off and that all he had to do was break open the cast and take the Katana out of it, as he took the hammer and carefully broke open the cast he saw that his second crafted weapon was as beautiful as his first crafted weapon, he slowly took it out with both hands and inspected it knowing every inch of it would be good enough for his critical eye regarding his own work he then grabbed some blue fabric and began wrapping it around the hilt, he made sure that with every turn of the fabric that it would be the same turning motion every time, so that he could rest easily in knowing that this really was his own Katana.


As Oddy made sure the fabric was tight enough on the hilt, he grabbed another whetstone and started sharpening his second and newly made Katana. “Now that I made you…I´m pondering on what to call you.” Mumbled Oddy as he was still sharpening the katana and its cutting edge was becoming more and more visible when he stopped sharpening the katana, he started to polish it and made sure it would be marvellous to see with each motion for the polishing he came closer and closer to the name of his 2nd katana and was easily amused as it seemed the Katana whispered his name to Oddy.


“I´ll…Call you Iron Katana “Whispering Wind” and together with Iron Katana “Jaeger” You will be my set of iron katanas for now and till eternity.” Then Oddy grabbed the sheath and sheathed Whispering Wind and put it next to Jaeger, as Oddy stood before the two sheathed katanas leaning against the wall he folded his arms over each other and started to grin, for now he finally had his melee weapons and the true carnage could begin on the battlefield with his skills and his allies.
