OOC NOTE: this is a practice for me to get better at writing, so don't expect anything too good if you read it. Its also for fun cause i can... this note is not added to word count.
Pawzyrus stared at the man across the tavern’s round table, his face half lit in the candle-light. He had asked Pawzyrus to meet him in the Tavern of Many Dark Corners at sundown, the furthest table to the right. He had a grim expression, his eyes red from tears. He wore a loose beige linen shirt with no sleeves and a rough green leather vest over it. His pants was made of cotton, also beige in color.
Pawzyrus frowned and furrowed his brow, “Is their a reason you brought me here sir…”
After a long silence, he responds “You won’t call me anything. I don’t like you, but I need you. I have little to pay but I must beg that you help this city. From looking at the people nothing seems wrong, sometimes its because we don’t want outsiders to know what is wrong here.” He shuddered.
Pawzyrus frowned again and folded his arms in irritation. He has a terrible attitude for someone who wants help, this better be good, he thought. The man clasped his hands together.
“a few weeks ago, a… “crime spree” begun. In the beginning, dogs were stolen. Later, Children… All female. Whoever did this has stolen 47 girls so far, including… Including my own daughter.” Tears spilled of his face onto the table. “She… she was playing a game with 3 of her friends. All girls, but they were very much older. I heard a agonizing scream, and came outside into the night. The field where they played had blood spilled everywhere, pooling all over the ground and soaking the tall grass. I saw my daughter being taken away by some strange black figure, their long hair drifting to and fro, a song playing gently in the wind that I cannot remember. I couldn’t catch up and I knew it, but I chased anyways. After 8 minutes of running, they were gone. I went back to the girl’s bodies, noticing them in a certain figure. A large, crying eye. Intestines were used to form the eye, dismembered arms made the pupil and iris, blood and broken bones made tears. No, not broken… Shattered.”
The man’s hands clenched and his form wavered into a crying mess. Pawzyrus stared at him wide-eyed, in horror. “My god…” he gagged, but gained his composure. “do you know what it is?” He didn’’t answer for a few minutes, Pawzyrus sighed, ‘I should’ve given him time to calm down and mourn’, he thought.
Finally, he spoke “No. b-but when I heard the scream, I heard more than four voices. I heard… hundreds… bestial and human screams filled those fields and I heard the crunching and shattering of something, which I learned was their bones. I also know it wore no clothes, but that is it.” He looked down, then continued “Please… im asking you adventurer, please… Help us!” a few eyes turned Pawzyrus’s way, and he shrunk uncomfortably.
“im not sure, I am only level… A novice samurai. How do you think I can help?”
He snapped back “I don’t, but you’re the only choice I have! Please, please try…”
Pawzyrus sighed, “I will do it, but do you know where the child thief stays?”
His eyes glinted with hope, “I saw it run towards Warwick Castle. The people of Avon dread to know what lies in that castle” Pawzyrus looked out of the window to the castle on the hill. It looked like something out of a horror movie…
---------------------------
Pawzyrus caught his breath once he made it to the top of the hill, the front of Warwick castle gate. He continued on to the grounds, and knew this was where the kidnapper hid out. The vegetation was dead, the walls and grounds painted with blood. Picking up his tired pace, Pawzyrus went to the keep’s entrance. A note was pinned to the door. He took it off and read it aloud.
Lord Warwick the second,
Your daughter has made progress and is no longer crying in the library. Why you would leave her in the castle is beyond me, but she refuses to sleep. The sorcerer seems nice to her when im around, its nice to see him using basic spells to make light shows and other such entertainments.
Pawzyrus dropped the note on the ground, shaking in fear. “Can I do this? Dare I do this?... I must.” He opened the door and it gave the telltale creak of a horror house. Pawzyrus took a few long crouched steps inside, and was met by a large open space with a spiraling staircase, the base of the stairs at the right side of the room. A single, warped wooden door was cracked open to the far left, which Pawzyrus slowly creeped towards and saw a sign on the door “Slave quarters”… He opened the door wider, and saw decrepit, mangled skeletons layed strewn on the floor and bunk beds. Almost all of them were shattered, broken, or crushed. Suddenly, the room rocked violently and an unearthly scream erupted

The room seized to rumble, and 4 skeletons shambled to life, they seemed to be the only ones who weren’t completely destroyed. Pawzyrus unsheathed his nodachi, using his blade to keep them away as far as possible.
The skeletons opened their maws, giving a silent scream. With a roar, Pawzyrus charged into the fray. “Kabuto-wari!” as the skeletons reached toward him hungrily, he ran to the closest of the four and slammed his nodachi into his skull. The ‘slave skeleton’s’ HP bar hit 0 in an instant, but his blade got stuck in it’s skull. The other skeletons grasped Pawzyrus and began to pull on him from different angles, biting his plate armor and clawing at him. I won’t die now, I can’t fail this mission, I must stop this kidnapper, Pawzyrus thought. He attempted to shove them away, but they held tight. They continued biting, but not harming his HP bar very much, much to his relief. He crouched a little, twisting one foot a little and pushed off of it, ramming a skeleton into the wall, freeing his arm. Pawzyrus twisted around and slammed his fist into another skeleton, and he came loose, giving him enough freedom to shake off the other. “Shunsen!” Pawzyrus swung his blade in a horizontal slash, relieving the two skeletons whom were previously holding his arm of their bodies waist-down, slaying them as well. He turned to the one he smashed into the wall; dead.

He took a breather, and looked around in the room. There was nothing remarkable. Bare walls, wooden slabs for bed and bunks, and some scattered mud and hay scattered on the ground. He caught a sliver of a note on a bed, picked it up, and read it aloud.
They locked us in here, we don’t know why. Maybe we are underlockdown? I heard from the other slaves that the little mistress stepped on a nail! And another said she died! Hmph, well, serves her right the spoiled brat. Well, I guess she isn’t mean, just high maintenance. Nethi, apparently much to her chagrin, wanted to kill her first. I wish I knew why, she only smiled and laugh when I asked.
A few of the slaves have begun screaming, their bodies contorting and violently vomiting. We began strangling them to death when one of them launched at us. Everytime we suffocated them, though, we heard a slamming on the door… as if someone is trying to escape.
More and more of us are being inflicted by this mysterious illness. I fear I am next. I am scared… Why do we deserve this? Were just slaves, why?...
Pawzyrus put the note down, and closed his eyes. He took a slow, deep breath. He never thought he could be rattled just by a quest. Then again, doing these in person is far worse and more intense than on a third person screen. He opened his eyes, turned around, and got out of the room. The door behind him slammed closed by itself as well as the entrance. He ran to the entrance and opened the door. The courtyard was filled with nails the sharp-side up...

The scream wailed, then left as soon as it came. The door slammed, pushing Pawzyrus to the ground. He quickly picked himself up and his nodachi. “I guess I can only go up…” He sighed, and slowly and as silently possible walked up the stairs. The second floor was an exact copy of the first, one door to the far left, and a staircase to the right…
