It seemed that the mere addition of a crafting class for every character meant that people were discovering alternative recipes to items that otherwise would not have been designable using the basic item lists found in the menu alone. It seemed that even the People of the Land were getting into the business as well, as evidenced by the number of "Windsor Antiqua" gear that had been buzzing around the marketplace. They were said to be decent gear that was about a step above beginner gear yet cheap enough that one could fully upgrade gear without breaking the bank. Perhaps with this new release of equipment, the Adventurer crafters were beginning to get into their gear, as player shops were starting to line the streets of this unfamiliar London. Touko was wondering what to do herself, as her Alchemist level had improved a little bit beyond the starting levels ever since the golem-crafting research. The number of Alchemy recipes were being reported by the Britain Royal News along with other crafts, and it seemed that the Alchemists mostly focused their work on producing modified versions of old electronics at this early level. She had read a flier which detailed a way to turn crafting materials into basic lamps and flashlights which ran on Mana Fragments. On that same note, Mana Fragments were apparently a lot more useful beyond the conventions of alchemy as well. There were plenty of Mechanics and Scribes hoping to turn the magical crystal into a type of fuel source or at least a catalyst for activating an invention of theirs, so there have been plenty of beginner Alchemists merely selling the crystals by the dozen. She had realized that extraction of a Mana Fragment was possible without the use of any tools. It was simply performed by concentrating one's energy and imagining a flow of mana toward the palms. This usually resulted in small blue crystals materializing in the air for a moment, then falling down from their position. The harder part was collecting these crystals without accidentally using them up - these mana crystals were very fragile and seemed to melt into the skin upon contact for longer than a few seconds. Regardless, her focus at the moment was not only in producing enough fragments to begin a craft, but to craft a magical accessory in particular. A number of people have reported the invention of small accessories that were produced by Alchemists and had magic-boosting effects. These were usually compared to accessories produced by Blacksmiths, which focused on similar functions except with applications to the warrior and weapon specialist classes. But for the moment, the accessory's frame would need a bit of construction. "Gently take apart the Old Diode and carefully insert the two filaments inside." Honestly, if this had been one of the most basic recipes available, she wondered how difficult the endgame Magitech would have been. Touko had been a starting biology major back in college after all. She didn't even know what a diode was. In fact, most of you probably don't even know what a diode was! In that case, feast your eyes on this object. This small cylindrical-looking device was in fact the diode in question, and yet she was supposed to be able to take it apart and then stick two filaments inside. At the very least, a filament was probably a bit more manageable of an object to place inside the item, as they were usually the thin coils inside of a light bulb. Does this look like anything that an item could have been intuitively made? Hopefully the rest of the Alchemists' recipes didn't require much knowledge in advanced engineering. Either way, engineers everywhere were probably going to have to suspend their belief for the rest of this crafting session. Touko tried to open the diode by looking for any indents in the cylinder, but to no avail. She looked for a tool that would have been able to open the diode. There was only a large nail available. Really, if even this wasn't her real body and any damage would gradually heal over time, Touko had some reservations toward placing such an object too close to her fingers. It turned out that taking apart the diode was as simple as twisting the metal lead end of the diode and revealing the split filament inside. If such a description didn't make sense, it was exactly how she had felt a few moments prior. Britain Royal News really needed to start including diagrams for this sort of thing. In any case, she placed the "new" Old Filaments over the exposed portion of the lead, causing the items to seemingly fuse together into a rather intricate coil. Touko raised an eyebrow at this step. Well, there was no need to keep up a pretense of fake science anymore. This had gone beyond the realm of magic by now. Touko read the remaining instructions from the news article. After the diode's filament has been repaired, the next step was to administer the Mana Fragment gently onto its circuitry. Indeed, she followed suit by clutching the clamp and carefully picking up the small mana crystal. Touko applied the object to the surface of the repaired filament, and noted that its shape was beginning to break upon. The crystal quickly changed from a solid into a liquid within a matter of seconds, and that liquid was absorbed by the filament completely. The object let out a brief glow of blue light as if to confirm that it had indeed accepted the offering. Right. She wasn't really surprised at this crafting technique anymore. The second Mana Fragment was added, causing the light to persist for a longer amount of time. By the time she added the third crystal, however, something had happened. It was as though she had implemented enough energy to awaken the ancient powers of the machine piece. She heard its voice. It was beckoning her to awaken its true power and become the true wielder of Magitech. It was the ancient spirit of Magitech. And then she couldn't help but agree. From this moment forward, she would become the Chosen Sorcerer of Magitech. As Touko raised the object to the air, she already felt the unstoppable power inside. It was beckoning her to craft more of its brethren! She felt a great impulse to follow its wishes! Behold, this legendary power! ... Maybe it was just getting late, but she was beginning to space off a little when it comes to this kind of thing. In reality, Touko simply added the third fragment and watched as it released a moderately powerful light. According to the newspaper, this was the moment when she would need to take the completely mana-awakened battery and place it inside of a small accessory. Necklaces or bracelets were usually the best choices as they were easily purchased from the People of the Land. Fortunately, this step was already complete, so there was no need to spend several more posts on a filler journey about designing the appearance of the accessory. Touko reached into her bag and pulled out a medium-sized charm with a hollow indentation. She had chosen the design after seeing the size of the diode. It was simply a moderate crest that one would normally embed a small crystal within, but its size and shape was custom-designed by the shop vendor who she had bought the item for. However, prior to adding the object, she needed to consider the leads that were jutted out from the side. According to the newspaper, after the mana battery was complete, the leads were no longer very necessary. Therefore, in order to complete the accessory, she removed the unnecessary extensions that made up the metal lead. As the object was slid into the indentation, there was a brief flash of mana as though signifying the successful craft. Wonderful. It was absolutely wonderful!
