The darkness of the small fishing village loomed with devious delight as it spread through the town casting shadows when met with the flickering light of the campfire that encased the center of the village. Saskia sat on a log beside the fire, trying to keep warm in the bitter frigid winds that snaked through the town. The harsh winter was making itself ever present as a puff of a white cloud exuded from her lips causing her to shiver from within her outer shell of shiny steel platemail. She shifted closer to the fire embracing it’s warmth as she tucked her head lower, nuzzling her chin into her scarf.



The surrounding Landers villagers seemed to be like the hunter gatherers from the days of old as they stood around their fishing nets and circled around the fire adorned in clothing made from the furs of many slayed animals in the forests. They song songs and played beautiful musical instruments and the husbands cheered merrily over flagons of mead while the nurturing wives brought the men, who worked tirelessly to bring home a meal so there family could survive, freshly cooked dinners that they could enjoy over the campfire. Children chased each other through the streets to indulge in childish games of tag and hide and seek.



Saskia could hear the laughter of their cries as they screamed about in the intricate game of cat and mouse. It brought the cotton candy haired warrioress great joy as she watched them play, a light smile creaking from the corners of her lips. Though this world was unfamiliar and she was still getting used to all the many diverse races in the land of elder tale, she couldn’t help but feel at peace among their good company. Unlike the landers from the city, they were much kinder and welcoming to her. It was similiar to the notion of southern hospitality that the Americans had claimed.



Though she was only in the village for a short time, a piece of her wanted to stay a while longer, as she unscrewed the cap of her canteen and took a drink of the resfreshing liquid inside. Her wolf ears twinged at the cry from the south.



“M-M-M-MONSTERS!” An elven fisherman shouted as he ran towards the campfire, pointing wildly at the docks.



“Arangalion...calm down and tell us what you’re talking about. WHat’s the meaning of all this? You sure you just didn’t catch another tutrle again?” A burly fiery bearded dwarf laughed as he slapped his thigh and indulged in his drunken stupor as he sipped from his mug of booze.



“No, you dimwitted Dwarf! I know what I saw..those big green eyes...coming out of the lake...they were Sahaguins. Lots of them! An they were headed this way!”



A werecat in the group spit out his ale as his eyes bulged with alert.



“Sahaguins! You mean those bloody fish warriors...oh hell! They always attack in droves! We’re done for!”



The shock and hysteria began to throw the town in pandemonium as parents began to search for their children frantically.



"The village is in chaos. I've got to stop those sahaguins before they reach the shore..."


Saskia rose to her feet, grabbing her giant long spear. Those around her could see the determination in her eyes. While others ran away from the docks, Saskia walked valiantly towards them.



Who would be bold enough to stand at her side?

his world was certainly a strange one. When Rinee had first logged into Elder Tales she hadn't quite known what to expect. She was familiar with MMOs, she had played several over the past couple of months quite extensively. However, none of them could compare to this one. This world was unlike anything she could have ever expected before. Instead of sitting behind her monitor as she usually did, she now looked at this world through her own two eyes. Her senses awakened, fully in tune with the world around her. It was such a strange sight, to see her reflection in a pane of glass or water. The face that looked back at her had a different facial structure and different hair. Furthermore, the girl starring back at her from the mirror had the power to call upon mystical forces beyond mortal comprehension, usually. But in this world? She could be anything she wanted to be. A sorcerer, alchemist and a sage. Sighing a little bit, she looked up from her perch in a tree to gaze upon the village. It had been a full week now since she had joined the game and she had come to grips with the fact that Elder Tales was no longer a game in the traditional sense. Rather, a new frontier. She ate, slept and lived in this world now whether she liked it or not. Yet still, it was a beautiful world to behold. So far, she hadn't been in any real combat situations, avoiding them for fear of injury. If her body existed in this world, surely her pain did as well? Sighing a little bit, she felt the goosebumps stand up like soldiers on her skin as she observed the goings on of the village. It was a strange thing, to see these people go about their daily lives. On multiple occasions, she had heard these people call themselves "People of the Land" she assumed that if this were an MMO, they would be the NPCs. However, they were different. They had hopes, dreams and histories and acted like real people, so Rinee treated them accordingly.

With another sigh, she watched as the women of the village carried out meals to their male counterparts with a smile. That aura of happiness quickly faded though, at the declaration of monsters. Rinee sat up in surprise at that shout. Breathing in deeply for a moment, she closed her eyes. Rinee had taken three days to become fully familiar with all her new skills and the strange system the world employed. Unlike a game, she would fight as if she were actually there... That mindset had to go. She was actually here, this was her reality now! Opening her eyes again, she intoned quietly under her breath "Sense Element" Smiling to herself a little, she began to feel out the elements of the world in a range of exactly twenty five metres. She counted each and every one of the water elements rising up from the ocean. They out levelled her a little bit, but she wouldn't let that stop her from protecting those people. Putting on her witch-style hat, and grabbing her staff as well, she leapt down from the tree. She cancelled her Sense Element spell as she began quickly run towards the monsters. Grinning somewhat, Rinee skidded to a halt, raising her staff above her head. If they were water elements, and the normal rules of a game still applied, she had the perfect spell. They may be higher level than her, but she had a spell for that too. Raising her staff to the sky, she began to channel her mana into the spell. The group of say four monsters saw her, and began to approach, licking their lips. Rinee span her staff as if it was second nature before pointing it at the group, intoning "Magi Lightning, Grand Fall!" A bolt of lightning came crashing down from the sky, arcing forth to strike the group of monsters, electrifying the sky with cackling lightning. Jumping back a little bit, Rinee intoned the spell Blink to move back away from the monsters for five meters. The group she had struck were down for the count, and exploded in a shower of rainbow bubbles. This was exciting! Rinee then noticed a higher level player advancing on the scene as well. Relived somewhat, Rinee watched her with awe. When she had first seen a level ninety, she had been blown away by the sheer power she could feel emanating from them. Any high level player still caused her to be shocked a little bit though, as shocked as the monsters who she had just slain with a few words.

Hopes. Dreams. Who would abandon these fragile souls who have barely begun to let their aspirations bloom?



The people of the land had broken the curse of the millennium by breaking free of the chains of fate that binded them to the same meager lives they lived as npcs before the catastrophe.



They all held adolescent hearts. Not fully mature. Not completely grown up. It was like a fertile seed in the sand or a budding flower just shy of first bloom.



The gods of the lands would cry tears for the people as the demonic would splinter the angelic and the sinuous howls of the sahaguins would echo through the darkness of the midnight hour.



A broken body lies upon the shore, as the waves wash over it. The man’s clothes get stained with the wetness of the waters.



Too soon, too soon.



She shortly thereafter dissolves into rays of anima. The source of all grand life and existence as the gods cradle his soul and returns it to the life stream.



Behind a hill, a priest prays.



A mother holds her child tightly.



A son clutches his the empty vessel of his mother’s corpse before she slowly slips from his fingers in particles of anima dust and debris.



Tridents storm the bank of the shore as they crash, piercing the veil of the sand.



It has been done. The defenseless lands have been invaded.



The cheerful village that once was captivated by song is now being tortured by sin.



In the village, lies a small band of brothers, dressed in tattered cloth, barely able to withstand a blow from the enemy.



Yet they risk their lives for the rest of the village.



In the rear, an elderly man waves roughly at the women and children to evacuate.



They embark on a journey that would be known as “The Trail of Tears” as they leave behind the houses they once before called home.



A ritual woman with racial markings and tattoos glances back on the village as the shaman whispers a light prayer for the souls of the damned and those few brave spirits that stayed behind so that others may yet stand a chance.



In a tree, lies a blossoming magi. Unaware to the tragedies of this world yet with a burning aspiration in his heart as the picks up staff and courage and utters words to discern the enemy flank.



Mystical prowess and wisdom etched on the tip of her tongue, she finds satisfaction in finding where the sea beasts are storming the seas.



A stalwart valkyrie commands the field. As the golden orbs of her eyes, begins to scorch like the sun. With a wave of her steel gauntlet, she shouts in a cry, full of fervor and resolve.



From the great void of the nether-realms, her champion steed, Icarus, emerges caked in a shiny white coat and brilliant platinum blonde mane.



Wary shivering whines cry out from the shore as teenage boys take up arms consisting of meager pocket knives, shovels, and sickels. More or less tools used for farming or tanning hides.



The sahaguins have the backed into a corner as they clutch their instuments of valor tightly to their chest.



Crack! Crack! Crack!



A string of arrows launch from the heights of inn, as a pair of elven archer girls protect the squad of prepubescent boys below.



The sweat drips down their forehead, as they breath fresh air from their lungs, being bought a few extra seconds of life.



They make their way to the shore, picking up whatever arms and dull blades they can loot from their fallen brothers and make their way to defend their homeland.



A pink haired warrioress thunders towards the shores in a grand stampede as her eyes cut skyward to the heavens above.



She can see the eruption of gray clouds turning as black as the devil’s sin loom over the battlefield. She rushes towards the enemy anyway with plans to charge through them.



The thundering cry of lightning drives a hammer into the ground, electrocuting the sahaguins as receive the full effect of their elemental bane.



Saskia stampedes through the herd, and just as she passes in between them. Their bodies burst like fireworks around her as she cuts her glance to the right.

There they lock eyes for a brief second, but in that brief second Saskia’s gaze poured all the intensity and affirmation she could will to the girl for her efforts.



She sees the small squad of boys fighting onward as they push back a pair of sahaguins, unaware of the other three on their flank.



As Saskia retrieves the heavy great shield from her back and wields the long spear in her right hands, she activates [Fold Step] and in a sharp whirlwind, she snaps forward at great momentum to cut the distance.



Slashing her spear across the horizon, she activates her [Converging Saber] ability, which fanned out a ranged attack ten feet in front of her. Slaying all of the Sahaguin.



Her fearsome icy blue eyes bring chills upon the boys’ spines as they gulp at her presence.



Somewhat thankful. Somewhat terrified.



They nod boldly and continue their advance, not wanting to give up ground.



Meanwhile, a door bursts open and out flies a mother holding her child and crawling away on her back as a devious sahguin stomps towards her.



Quivering eyes set on the scene as Saskia gasps. She knows she used her [Fold step] skill already.



She simply cannot get there in time.



With hot skin and rapid beating heart, she cries out to the silver-violet haired Magi.



“Save her. Please! ” Saskia begs in a mournful shout as she cracks the reins of her horse and tries to reach her.



The phantoms of the fallen begin to plague her mind. 


Thus begins the bloom of doom. 


Too soon, too soon.

inee watched in awe as the higher level woman charged forth on a magnificent steed. In comparison, he own impressive feat of magic was simply nothing. The thought was somewhat depressing, but Rinee could appreciate the magnificence of the steed charging into battle against foes. True, those foes were significantly weaker than the rider but that didn't matter all that much. Thus far in the game, Rinee had only heard about mounts in all their forms. Griffin or horse. To see one up close, and used in battle was extraordinary. After a moment, Rinee stirred from her reverie to observe the battlefield once more. All around her, people were either engaging in combat or being slaughtered like lambs. The fire was everywhere as the water elemental type enemies began to advance upon the village. People fled, or they fought. In comparison to most adventurers though, their skill in combat was dismally lacking. Was this what separated the Adventurers and the People of the Land? Their combat prowess? There had to be something more, surely. Rinee watched as all around, the entropy was spreading. As a level one, Rinee had barely any skills to speak of. Her powerful lightning attack, it turned out, had a relatively long cooldown. The group of four monsters she had hit with it though had gone down with an overkill it seemed. Smiling at this, Rinee watched the horsewoman mow down wave after wave of monster, her steed neighing in response to the bloodshed. Some of the villagers took up defence of their village as Rinee stood there, watching, leaning on her staff somewhat. The cries of the village were audible in her ears... What could she do? Save them, that's what she could do. Taking off on light feet, Rinee ran towards the village. As she ran, she noted how accustomed to this body she had become over the past week or so. Her staff, she held behind her as she ran.


As she reached the village, she began to help as best she could. Leading people to safety, dashing into burning buildings to bring back children and mothers alike. She directed the villagers easily, sending them to different locations that hid them well enough from the approaching monsters. Yet the village was relatively large, and she was one girl. A young girl, dancing in the flames. Rinee was just helping an old woman into a safe shelter when she heard the shouts of the horsewoman behind her call out through the flames. Rinee quickly helped the old woman into the shelter before she went to go and see what all the fuss was about. The shelter she had selected was a stone building that wouldn't be burned so easily. She had asked the archers to take up positions on it's roof, watching both the front and back simultaneously as they did so. Nodding somewhat, she closed the thick wooden door with a clunk before dashing off to see what she was needed for. Even without knowing it perhaps, Rinee had reduced the number of casualties to some degree. Rounding the corner, Rinee instantly saw the issue. A woman and child has escaped from their house, but they were being followed quickly by a monster. Rinee raised her staff, even before the horsewoman spoke. It took a mere two seconds to cast. A cold air seeped out of Rinee for a moment, before she intoned the words: "Frost Spear!" The ice condensed rapidly at the end of her staff, before rocketing towards the monster. The spear piercered the monsters head, saving the woman and child. Dashing over, Rinee helped them up before taking them over to her pseudo shelter. Then, jumping into the air a little, she Blinked again over to one of the nearby rooftops to watch the battle unfold easier.

A dark shadow looms over the shore of the grain village as the reaper takes the knife clutched in his teeth from his mouth as slowly uses it to carve out the souls of the damned.



Bitterness and heartbreak bellow out through the burning homes as the lives that so many spent in those cherished buildings began to corrode away in embers.



So many life experiences and family bonding moments that existed from within those walls where now being filled with the black clouds of smoke.



Some abandoned them to save their own skin.



Others desperately clung unto those sweet memories as they tried to salvage whatever heirlooms or trinkets they could.



Digging their rough calloused has threw drawers frantically to find paintings of fallen loved ones.



A girl balls into tears as she retrieves a locket from her jewelry box. A token of affection from her lover as she exits the burning building.



She sniffles as she looks at the lovey vow he had written her deep inside.



“I’ll always love you, even until my last breath...”



Tender words she quivered her lips at as she stepped over his bleeding body that slowly began to erode at the heels.



She knelt down beside his head and gently brushed her hands through his hair. Planting one last kiss upon his cheek.



She rises up despite the heaviness in her porcelain heart as she stumbles across the dirt, staggering with the chain of the pendant drifting from clenched fingers.



A weak and weary mother tries to sooth her crying baby boy by shaking a makeshift rattle. The terrors of the massacre are traumatizing to not only her, but the others as well that crowd around in the caravan.



An tiny girl peers through the holes in the ripped cloth from the back of the caravan as she sees the burning village slowly get smaller and smaller as her eyes dilate wider and wider.



She knows this is the last time she will ever see it. She looks up at her mom with frail innocent eyes as the four year old girl speaks in a childish tone.



“Mommy, where’s daddy?”

A reasonable question, yet the eerie silence it produces is unthinkable.



The overwhelming grief that looms over the mother holding her crying baby boy can not be measured as ten pairs of eyes hold their gaze over her, silently offering their condolences.



She hold her baby boy over her shoulder and gives him several pats on the back, trying to sooth the upset child to sleep.



“Hannah...Daddy is....” She pauses for a brief moment to find what subtle white lie is best to offer the child. “ He’s going away for a while...”



She looked over at the harbor, squinting her eyes, then gracefully bringing back to the child’s face.



“Where’s he going, mommy?” She asked with wonder, not knowing that her father was one of the first waves sent into battle.



A long prolonged silence fills the void as the mother fails in her duties to protect her child from the harsh truth.



However, a bold smile blossom on the toddler’s face as she smiles and gives her mom a comforting hug.



“It’s okay...Daddy’s strong! He’s going to protect all the villagers. And then daddy and I will get to go fishing again! Just like we used to!”



The mother feels a soft glow in her chest as her heart as her face trembles.



She cradles both children in her arms as tears of loneliness slide down her cheek in streams of sorrow.





The driver cracks the reins as both horses begin to gallop away across the trail to the windsor greatwood.



Meanwhile, that very same Raven haired father is now driving a blade into the heart of the Sahaguins as he cuts open a path for others to flee. He is one of three in the company of the first nine that were sent out in the first wave.



A sweaty white bandana adorns his forehead highlighting his facial features as he withdraws his sword from the sea monster that joined the very same life stream that his fallen comrades did as they died.



He looked up in misery as he couldn’t quite understand it.



Watching as the flow of both friend and foe entered a bitter mixture of corrupted chemistry.



Deep inside it angered him to no extent, scornful tears set ablaze in his bloodshot eyes as he wearily pressed on in the battle.



Dragging his weary body around sluggishly next to a house, he waved at the children down the street to hurry to safety.



Neglecting his own security, a scaly green arm crashed from the window and wrapped around the throat of the father.



In the struggle, the man had dropped his blade, as was now pinned to the broken window as shards of glass clawed their way into his skin.



He waved his hands desperately for help as his soft chocolate eyes caught sight of the silver-violet haired mage.



“He-help me!!! I can’t die here! I have to get back to my wife! I have to get back to my daughter!”



Across the distance on the other side of the village, but within sight of the Sorceress was a little girl all alone far away from the comforts of protection.



She was approximately five years old.



A lonely child who grew up in an orphanage.



She was searching desperately for her teddy bear in the chaos. Despite being led away by villagers and advised to abandon it. She snuck out of the caravan and back into the city streets to find him.



“Christopher? Christopher, where are you...?” She whined as she looked around for him.



She had long golden strands of hair that flowed beautifully down her back as they swung around as he shook her head in search of her friend.



Many people in the village had often complimented her for elegance, as the small child’s innocence was indescribably beautiful.



Even at a young age, she had put many a smile on people’s face as danced about the campfires in a happily goofy manner and sung songs to the people.



She finds her teddy in the middle of the street a she waddles over to it.



However, a Sahaguin crushes the bear under his webbed foot and released a loud growl at the girl as he drives his trident into the head of the teddy bear. Ripping out the cotton from it’s stuffing and snarling at the poor girl.



She shrieks and falls on her butt, frantically, she cries loud tears and turns over to crawl away.



Deadly claws reap through her gorgeous hair, as a Sahaguin snatches her by the hair and pulls her away.



The girl’s tiny fingers grasp at the Sahaguins giant slimy hands as she makes a weak attempt to pry them off.



“O-Ow! Let goooo! H-help me!” she cries out desperately to the sorceress, pleading for her assistance.



On the other side of the spectrum, the husband of a loving wife and beautiful children sees the girl, yet his eyes still quiver at you with glints of hope.



“P-please! I have to raise my boy! I have to raise my little girl!” He pleads, begging the sorceress for her mercy.



The sorceress would notice that in the chaos. The pink haired guardian would be nowhere to be found, for she had rode gallantly onward towards the shore in hopes of staving off the waves of sea monsters.



Thus, leaving the woman with the hard choices on her own.



The Father had only one enemy.



The child had two.



There would not be enough time to save them both.



Master your will.



Shape their destinies.



Which would you choose?

inee was sat upon the rooftop still. Her staff was leaning against her shoulder, with the bottom of it resting on the ground. With a huff, she watched as the battle unfolded before her very eyes. The fires were blazing into the night sky, sending curling embers into the night sky. Rinee thought she had moved most of the Landers into the safety of the shelter. It was fairly well fortified, with several archers on its stone roof and some warriors patrolling its exterior. Yet, there had been many she had not been able to save this day... Many lives, lost, in the blink of an eye. The monsters had surged up like an angry tsunami and ever since that moment their attack had been utterly relentless. Above her, the stars were twinkling. Such an odd and tranquil sight. In the heavens, the stars went on existing yet down here the rivers ran red with the blood of the innocent. Rinee's grip on her staff tightened somewhat as she thought about it all. This world was an unforgiving one, even to the weak and innocent who could not hope to stave off such an attack. It... angered her, that these monsters had picked on these weak people just for the thrill of the hunt. Needless bloodshed... was unforgivable. It was at that moment that a small window popped up. The window on her HUD informed her that she had levelled up. Not just once, but seven times. Blinking a little bit, Rinee checked her status window to confirm that news. Her few encounters with the monsters had caused her to leap up seven levels? That didn't seem entirely possibly. By gaming standards, she'd have been lucky to gain a single level from that... Could it be, that her passion and resolve to protect the weak, had forced the game system to level her up more?


On the same window that had informed her she had levelled up, she was also told she had gained two new skills. Blinking again in surprise, Rinee read them. The two skills were Mana Arrow and Psychic Conductor. One was a weaker attack to her Frost Spear, but had a much shorter cooldown so it could be used every five seconds, like her Blink Ability. The second skill was Psychic Conductor, which she summarised was a basic telekinetic ability. It had double the cooldown of Mana Arrow and Blink but it had a lot more flexibility in its usage, allowing her to move objects around. Rinee smiled at this sudden revelation. With these skills, she could protect people! She would! Rinee stood and span her staff around in an expert motion. Nodding, determination blazing in her eyes, she leapt down from the roof and hit the ground running. With these skills, Rinee would save more people. Save them from burning buildings or slay monsters much quicker. It was then that she arrived at the crossroads of the town. Rinee blinked as she saw a small girl being grabbed by a monster, who then pleaded for her aid. A man, much older, was also trapped against a building by another monster... Two lives had fallen into her hands almost instantly. Rinee stopped for a moment to calculate. In this worlds, she could feel her neurons speed up as the adrenaline took over. Something which would never be achieved in real life. Looking left to right at the two, she analysedthe two... Their futures, their destinies, were in her hands. She had mastered her willpower and had gained the conviction needed to save them both! In another expert motion, Rinee span her staff around in a fluid arc motion, slamming its rear end into the ground where it stuck there vertically. Spinning around gracefully, Rinee raised both of her hands. Concentration swept over her, and a calm bliss fell upon her features. She then lowered her left arm, and pointed her right index finger towards the girl. In her mind, she called out the spells name, letting it resound deep within her bones. "PSYCHIC CONDUCTOR!" In rapid response to her magical prowess, a small pile of rubble flew at the monsters eyes. When they made contact, Rinee relased her grip on them and then pointed her finger at the girl. Using the magic again, she lifted the girl through the air, to place the girl on roof. Then, she span again, and Blinked towards the man until she was right next to him. It was a good job he was so close! Raising her right palm again, she placed her hand mere inches away from the monsters head and called forth her power once more "MANA ARROW!" A jolt of magic shuddered out of her palm as the beam of light flew forward to close the tiny gap between her hand and the monsters face. After that, she dashed backwards to her staff, which she picked up and span through the air again.All of this happened in slow motion for Rinee... But had she been in time?

Thrust into the gates of despair, the town now bathes in the darkness as the only flickers of light in this world are now the crackling flames that continue to burn it down.



The black gust of the cloud of gas that rose in a ghastly smoke as the fumes from the burning village joined together with the anima shards that were flowing back to the lifestream in brilliant chemistry as they began to glitter and sparkle in the thick black pigment.



As horrible as the omen could be and although terrifyingly absolute, the web of glitter spun like stars in the dark plasmic cloud and to the human eye as the blanket of fumes carried the anima shards to the divine stairway to the heavens above.



As the souls begin their mystically enchanting dance to to starry night above. The broken spirited warrior retrieves her spear from the gut of a blood-curdling Sahagin and gazes skyward as the calls of the lost souls beckon her in scornful mourns.



She feels their curses on her skin as she hears the crackles of flames and the cries of the wounded.



She looks to the shore, hearing the cries of a young boy nearby. The boy, this young frail spirit resiliently crawls across the ground for dear life. He digs his nails deep within the sand as he pulls his body across the ground, despite the long trident embedded in his spine.



It is clear from the depth of the impact that the young boy, barely old enough to be considered to have enjoyed the thrills of youth, has had his spine ruptured as he crawls closer towards his expiration date.



Saskia tries to prepare a healing spell, but her eyes quiver as she sees it. The boy stretching out his arm towards her, tears streaming down his face as his vision begins to get blurry and starts to decay.



“Why...you’re suppose to be the grand protector of these people...why couldn’t you...save...us...” He mutters as his hands clench her ankle, staring at her with cursing eyes.



She glances down at him as he feints from death. She cancels her spell animation. She knows that even if she would have heal the poor boy, that the [Bleeding] effect from the spear would have finished him off before she would be able to cast another curative ability.



It is too late to mourn his loss. She lowers herself to he knees and shuts the boys eyes closed with her fingers before she rises up hearing the shouts of a girls scream and a man’s cry coming from the town.



“What? They’re still people inside the village?!” She gritted her teeth as she clenched her fist. As she led a couple refugees out of the village, she went inside to investigate what perils awaited those trapped within the jaws of the courtyard.



As the entered the veil of the devastation left behind by the skirmish. Her feet steps over the scattered bodies that lie on the street as she cups a hand around her mouth, coughing violently after inhaling the smoke.



In her blurry vision, she sees the silhouette of a sorceress illuminate. As the crackling sky begins to coat itself in dark clouds. As the enchanting sorceress resolve burns brightly in here eyes, she channels the great spirits of the arcane arts in a grand scheme of grand magicks. Her feet impact upon the cold soil of the earth as she stabs her staff into the ground and begins and intricate dance that summons forth the gravitational pull of [Psychic Conductor], as she prioritizes the girls existence over the that of the life of the father, he curses as the nails of the Sahagin that clutches him in his arms tears through the e left side of his ribcage, a grim price for the girl’s safety as the girl breaks free from the clutches of the murderous Sahagin as she is levitated up to a rooftop nearby.



The frightened girl, blinks as she rubs tears away from her eye with a gentle, soft, and tender knuckle. Her eyes tremble at the sorceress with sadness, yet appreciation as she shouts in the voice of an innocent child.



“T-thank you, lady! P-Pwease be careful!” She cries out as her young eyes tremble at the sight of the man groaning in pain as his bones are cracking at the side. Like an animal caught in a bear trap, he struggles to get free. He looks up in shock as a bold warrior blinks into her path before he casting a manifestation of mana and hardening it’s form into a mana arrow as it thunders from her palm and collides with the jaw of the Sahagin, forcing it to release it’s grip from the father as he staggers forward, griping onto his bleeding side.



While he is grateful to her for saving his life, deep inside he harbors silent resentment for the pain he has had to endure because of her prioritization of the orphans life above his. A life without family. Who’s death would bring about far less turmoil to anyone than that of his own. The scales of judgement was not weighed fairly in his mind, and he gazed down at his wound in anger.



“I don’t know how I’m going to be able to provide for my family. It’s going to be a long time before I ever fully recover from these injuries...” he sneered as she knelt down to pick up the blade. “You know...if you just...threw me the sword with that spell of yours....and used the mana arrow on the Sahagin...” She coughed up blood as she spat it out down at the floor in between them. “It...would have been a lot faster...and I probably could have saved myself...”



He limped away slightly but as he started to pass her, his eyes quivered at a sight from above.



“Oh no....the girl!”



A loud cry could be heard from the rooftop as the thundering booms from the louds above loomed over the battlefield.



The girl trembled at the three Sahagins that screeched at her as the side fins on their face stretched out, exuding their heinous features.



“Please! Somebody help!!!!” She cried as her voice carried out through the village.



They began to hurl their Tridents at the girl like Javelins, because of the multitude of the javelins, spells like [Psychic Conductor] would prove to be ineffective. They could strip away one at best. Possibly two, if it were an experienced mage well versed in magic.



However, regardless of that matter, the girl would be torn asunder as cold steel pierced virgin skin and her body would begin it’s gentle cascade down to it’s tragic descendance, fluttering down as it strikes the surface along with the firsts droplets of rainfall that shower the city in tears, mourning her loss.



As the girl falls, the pink haired guardian, snarls as dashes forth to cut down the beasts with one fell swoop, as she leaps down from a rooftop on the opposite side of the city and flips into a wildly sinister [Ephemral Guillotine], raising her spine high over her head and doing a single front flip before impacting into the ground at a high velocity as she unleashes a violent cutting wave of energy that expand around her within five meters and blasts the Sahagins into anima bubbles as she avenges the soul of the young girl.



As she walks away from her spear that was now impaled into the ground, she rushes over to the girls side and cradles her weak and weary lifeless body in her arms.



The child has not died, yet, however, much like the boy on the shore, her body is bleeding out, and there would not be enough time to heal her.



Faced with a tough descision, she looks up to notice the look of terror on the Sorceresses face and that of the wounded father.



Her eyes trembled as their gaze traces zigzags across the sand. She is uncertain of what to do.



The girl slowly begins to bleed out, you can tell from her eyes that he is trying to make an effort to cling unto life as a trickle of blood seeps down from the corner of her lips.

As each interval of seconds pass her life bar slowly begins to cascade...



7%....



The girl blinks her eyes slowly.



6%...



The girl’s eyes begin to fill with tears deeper than the body of any ocean.

You would be able to notice the slight tremor of her fingers.

Her head would slowly quiver as she turns her head to cast her gaze at you...

Her voice would be silent, but the look in her eye, would linger onto the man that she watched you save, then flutter back to you.

The final look in her eyes would wear an expression that says ‘Thank You’ as if showing appreciaton for the one life you were able to save as you valiantly crossed that battlefield.

Her cheeks tremble slightly as she as she offers you her last smile. The life essence begins to fade from her eyes and the shower of rain begins to pelt her face.





The Guardian snaps her glance at you, noticing the circle of emotions surging through herself and those surrounded over the group.



Saskia notices the cries of the other broken bodies that slide along the floor in agony, suffering heavily from their wounds.



In a ferocious shout, she yells at the Sorceror.



“Hey! What does this girls life mean to you!?! I can only save one!! Why does she deserve to live over the others? Tell me! There’s so many here that have to suffer! Tell me why! ” She cries out in sadness as the moans of the others wounded nearby begins to plague her mind and flood into her thoughts. 


Thump thump, thump thump....



The frail heartbeat echoes in her lifeless shell as the final cord to the girls thread of life is about to be cut and her eyes slowly cascade to a fatal close...
