Sayha was amused by his rules, “Well, I have no intentions on dying, and I have no problem with sneak attacks as they’re my specialty as an assassin. It’s nice to meet you, Varis.” “Well, if you’re after the fragment, the Thames Coastline is where we’ll need to go first,” Sayha explained, “I haven’t checked along the Coastline recently so I’m not sure how many other adventurers will be around.” Sayha started walking towards the Coastline, assuming Varis was following.
Sayha didn’t like withholding the truth at all. She spoke her mind usually all the time. She wasn’t lying though. She had accepted the quest, but she hadn’t returned to the Sages yet since the Purple Mirror Mansion. She wanted to find out more information first. After all, if Hiro and she were wrong, there was no reason to spread around useless rumors that could cause unnecessary drama between adventurers and Landers.
“So Varis,” Sayha turned her head to the samurai, “What all do you know about the Sages? I mean, there has to be a reason you visited them today, right?”
Sayha thought it was a fair question, though she did wonder what she would say if he asked her he reverse. That was a concern for later.
Sayha quickly thought back to Hiro. He had told her he would do something similar to checking out the Sages. She had agreed it would be a good idea, but she didn’t think Hiro expected her to check it out as well. But it would be better if more than one pair of eyes was watching them. She would let Hiro know the results after she was done, of course. Until then, she just needed to find out what everyone else knew.

"Well other than the fact that they're supposed to be a Circle of Sages, yet clothed in dark clothing with white dots of robes not letting anyone else see their faces raised a suspicion of sorts. But to be perfectly honest my first intention was to just get a quest and get it done already. Though if you ask me, they certainly were a bit off if not a bit desperate in my opinion." Varis replied not knowing of her intentions behind this, but he knows by now that she isn't a Lander. So he can only hope that whatever he says outside of the Sages' earshot, Sayha wouldn't go ratting him out as he once knew someone who did that during work in the real world before this. Got him almost fired until the things that Varis was complaining about was actually true and his supervisor dubbed him to correct them as best as he could along with providing him some extra hands on things that he wasn't confident in handling.
"As for any other facts about them, I honestly have never heard of them until now. Then again I haven't been around long either, but still I think I would've heard a thing or two about it if one existed since it would be in the knowledge type of thing. Perhaps they were recently formed or something?" He proposed as he didn't want to make it sound that he was going to full on disbelief the quest until he got concrete proof of what these Sages really are, or if he finds out that what they are looking for is actually something potentially dangerous. For now he'll just keep his opinions to himself and make his priority of obtaining the fragments. Also he is indeed following behind Sayha since he guessed that she already took the quest and should know where to go and such. In other words, he's pretty much going along the flow of sorts being led by her. Which he honestly didn't care that she was leading them as long as it was somewhere they needed to go to. On top of that, she's more likely a lot stronger than he could ever hope to accomplish since players around here have either worked very hard on leveling up or just been around for quite a while now.

‘Desperate?’ Sayha thought in the back of her head. That was definitely not what she was expecting. She wasn’t surprised at all to hear that he didn’t know too much about them. No one did, and if she did find someone, she planned on grilling them questions upon questions. For the time being though, the two had arrived on the Thames Coastline. From the looks of it, there were still a few adventurers lingering around, but no one seemed to be actually searching.
“So Varis, you have a Divining Rod, correct?” Sayha turned to the samurai, “You’re going to want to use it. How it works is that the crystal will glow when you get near a piece of the fragment. The closer you are to the fragment the brighter it will glow. With any luck, you should be able to find a fragment quickly. If not, then it may take a while. However since its still about noon, at least you won’t have to worry about searching in the dark.”
Sayha recalled that that was exactly what she ended up doing when she initially did the quest. She didn’t recall how long she was out there, but she guessed it was at least a few hours. On top of that, she ended up having to take a slight swim in the Thames which was rather uncomfortable.
Sayha looked back at the crowd that was around. There weren’t any adventurers that she recognized around, which wasn’t surprising. She wasn’t exactly a social person so the people she did know was very limited. However out of the corner or her eye, she saw some other adventurers eyeing the two of them. She would have to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn’t start any trouble.

"Yes, desperate. For one was how that sage reacted. The sage was smiling at first but when I said that they would have to find somebody else if they didn't tell me where I was supposed to go that smile dropped. Not to mention that sage also hesitated on something, pretty sure its because of uncertainty of the words. Or it could be that the sage had to word its speech carefully to not reveal anything by accident." That was the calculated conclusion that Varis had come to during that conversation with the Sage, he just didn't really say anything until now because he thought it was just his imagination playing a taunting tune that might be true or it could be false too. Some might even call it just Varis being paranoid of sorts, but that's just how his mind works for he likes to assess the situation from every aspect.
Then he would grow quiet as his eyes were trained at the nearby adventurers as he noticed that they were eyeing at them. For a moment his eyes grew cold as he was calculating something in his mind, and analyzing them from their body structure to their weapons and to their armor while also taking notes of how they sit and represent themselves. And by taking these notes he makes a mental guess that they were bit experienced player in Elder's Tale and they certainly have better equipment than he does. But judging from their stances and from the emotions emitting from their eyes they are only gazing at the two to see if they have any luck of getting a fragment so that they can take it for themselves through player killing. After he made this guess, he turned his attention back to Sayha which he finally realized that she was instructing him of how to use the Dowsing Rods and how to find the fragment itself with them. At this point his eyes were no longer cold and instead brimmed with a gentle warmness of his nature. "I see... though I think its a bit odd that we would have to use the Dowsing Rods unless these fragments contained magical energies for some reason that makes it linked to finding through the Dowsing Rods." Not sure if that was some kind of clue, but he did state a questionable point of view. Could these fragments contain some kind of magic? And that maybe that the Circle of Sages who collected the tablet needs the fragments to not only complete the tablet but to restore the tablet's full power? And if so what kind of power would the tablet possess? Varis shook his head in dismissal as he tries not to dwell on it for too many questions were starting to pop up now before he went through his inventory and pulls out his Dowsing Rods into his hands while slightly adding pressure onto the toothpick that's set between his teeth which kind of shows how much interested he was into finding answers for those questions, and if his mental scenario might actually be true as it has been proven to happen a couple times before. Mostly when something serious is about to happen.

Sayha listened to Varis’s continuing of the Sage’s desperation. The samurai said that it sounded like either uncertainty or cagey trying not to reveal too much. Both Sages that Hiro and he had dealt with were not very open, very unlike the Sage she had dealt with. It was odd… but that was thinking for another time. Sayha then saw Varis sizing up the adventurers that had been eyeing them. “Don’t focus on them for the time being,” Sayha started, “If anything happens, I’ll deal with them. I’m much stronger than you are in level and in natural strength. Just keep your cool and ignore them. They should leave you alone.”
Varis then went on to explain how the thought the Divining Rods worked, though he called them Dowsing Rods instead of Divining. It was close enough since they worked the same way. “To be honest, I didn’t even think about that. It’s possible that there’s magic in the tablets which would explain why they react to the Rods. Though it doesn’t explain why the tablet became broken. Usually magical artifacts are stronger than normal ones, at least in every other MMO I have ever played. Then again, I can’t really call this a game, can I.”
Sayha paused and began to walk south, opposite of where most of the adventurers were, “We’ll probably have better luck down this way. It doesn’t seem like there are too many crowds so we should be able to find one fast and get back to the Sages… or at least you will. I’ll still be around when you turn it in so can keep helping you in case something else comes up.” She really wanted to say ‘when’ but decided to keep that to herself.

Varis kind of smirked on that, for he's not used to having somebody else deal with problems that would more likely be his, on how she was basically telling him not to focus on the other adventurers. "Eh, I wouldn't worry too much about them. If anything they would just become more of a nuisance than a threat anyways." Though he neglected to say that was a part of his habit for he does tend to size people up to get a grasp of their strengths and possible weaknesses. Kind of helps him to get to know people without really talking to them. Then he listened to her response of how he thought the Divining Rods worked, and he would nod his head in agreement before he replied. "Well apparently according to the Sage back there, the tablet was broken for being buried for so long. But if that was the case then wouldn't those fragments be in the same spot where they found the tablet? It could be that the people who made or used the tablet before broke it into different pieces to make sure that it doesn't get used to its full power. But that's just my guess at any rate."
After listening that they should head south, he nods in agreement as he begins to make his way to that direction with his Divining Rods in his hand. Which he was actually using the rods as they were heading south just in case they stumble across a fragment. Which it was kind of weird to him for this is like trying to find water underground. "Yeah, that probably would be best. Since it'll result on not being disturbed and also on not being jumped by some group of idiots either." Stating back to her as he was walking with the rods being used, though sadly he hasn't picked up on anything yet with the rods. Though he made sure to be away from those adventurer's ear shot before he said that second part of his speech. Its actually quite clear that he normally doesn't tolerate strangers, especially when they have the intent on something cowardly yet cunning as well.

Varis would nod in agreement as he walked over to Sayha's area while he was watching the crystal starting to glow dim at first. But as he got closer the crystal glowed a bit brighter. However it seems that he passed it for it was starting to grow a bit dim now which caused him to stop in his tracks. Then he would walk backwards as his expression was a bit stoic as he was glancing down at his feet to see where he was going so that he wouldn't accidentally fall backwards into god knows what. It took Varis a few minutes of walking and back tracking his steps until he finally came to where the crystal shined the brightest light which was about half a league away from where Sayha was. Kneeling down, the crystal was shining like a light bulb around here. So after he put his Divining Rods away, he begins to dig with his hands to separate the sand from whatever is beneath it. However naturally there was just more sand as he cleared out a patch one after the other. It took quite a bit where Varis had to take off his coat so that he could work a bit more efficiently. Which resulted of him digging up a trench in the sand that was almost three feet deep when he reached down to scoop up another handful of sand only to make his hand smack against something that wasn't sand. It kind of surprised him as he jerked his hand back while clenching it into a fist like he was going to punch something, but he loosened the fist so that he could brush off the sand where he felt that object. At first it was just an outline of an jagged object, and he thought it was going to be like a broken object or something. However lady luck seems to smile at him for after he brushed the final bits of sand to get a clear look at the object, it looks like a broken piece of rock to him. Taking it out from the sand with his hand, he gently blew the remaining bits of sand away from him and the rock to reveal that it contained bits of writing. Unfortunately he couldn't read any of it, so he would look over his shoulder to find Sayha wherever she may be present before he pops a question at her. "Can you read this? It just looks like a bunch of gibberish to me, but it might be something you could read out of." Then he would look back at the spot where he found the rock and would try to brush his fingers along the sand around the particular area to see if there was anything else buried underneath there. But he didn't find anything so he turns his attention back to Sayha.
