[attr="class","tempy3"][attr="class","shishicroll"]While they were amazing and revolutionary cosmetic products, Appearance Changing Potions were simply the worst. As convenient as “changing any feature of your body you’d like on a whim” sounds, it had a stupid system of doing so. What kind of genius thought it was a good idea to have your subconscious thoughts affect your look? Now she was stuck in an awkward transition in a woman’s body. The poor fox had only recently gotten used to female pronouns. For a long time, people have already used such pronouns even in her previous form.

“I need another potion…” said Shira; her voice was very much the same although it a tad bit higher. She had her doubts; she mulled over enough thoughts on the multitude of ways this was going to go wrong. The odds weren’t stacking in her favour. Capsule would surely advise against any more potioneering shenanigans of any sort; the fox had only recently been induced to a comatose and woken up. In her defence, it wasn’t her idea to get drunk an hour or two prior her ordering the potion. She will never know how the decision to change one’s hair color turned her into woman.

Sadly, Shira didn’t have any cash on-hand, and burglarizing people was out of the question. Assuming certain game rules still applied, there was no way of nicking an item or two from someone’s inventory without them having it out in the open. Her scheming was interrupted by an unexpected body bumping into him and falling backwards. It was her little troublemaking freeloader, Aura. Admittedly she wasn’t little at all, and could probably smack the Shira about if she was on par with his level. She was lazy enough to not go on too many quests but just diligent enough to have a suspiciously candy-smelling bag of treats. As usual, she smelled like Shira when she bought the Appearance Potion.

“Hello, pret-ty lady~” she cooed at her. If Shira was just at that mood, she would have taken this opportunity to bop her on the head. It was a tempting notion but she held off against it on the account that Aura would be too drunk and/or physically fit to actually feel her bop.

“Those smell like pretty swell treats,” said Shira questioningly. “I wonder how much I’m supposed to pay for this one.”

Aura looked at her like she just asked a very silly question.

“Don’ you know it’s Halloween, Miss Fluffykins?” said Aura as she snuck in a light stroke to one of Shira’s tails. A familiar jolt ran through her body, and her hand reflexively smacked Aura’s hand away and her tail bundled themselves together to reduce the surface area of unwarranted touching. Fortunately, the light touch wasn’t enough to affect her in an embarrassing manner.

“Oh nonononono. No playing. Come on. You head home now before you pass out somewhere questionable.”

“Ok, then, Miss Fluffykins.”

“Shira, if you will.”

“Miss. Fluffykins.”

Shira sighed and sent the giggling drunkard on her way. Now that she thought about it, Trick-or-Treating sounds like a pretty weird but viable plan. At least it was better than begging for materials like a beggar. Questing for materials was an option as well but she wasn’t at all used to fighting in this body. She considered that her summons might not recognize her in her new form. It was a worry that would complicate a whole mess of things, but surely she wouldn’t need any summoning for this shenanigans.

[attr="class","textBox"]It was that obnoxious time again and the familiar scents in the air made the Assassin sigh; it was Halloween. It was the time of horror, a misunderstood holiday with candy and obnoxious children, and the time where cheap tricks could be found all over the place. At this same time a year ago, Saber was caught in one of those cheap tricks call the Purple Mansion. It was an event that lured Saber into a building full of puzzles with the promise of meeting the Mansion’s owner at the end. As expected, however, the owner of the mansion never showed up and left Saber in the dark. It was as if the World never planned on showing the guy in the first place even after promising that he would appear. Though, the lack of a fulfilled promise was becoming a regular thing now so Saber didn’t linger on the thought too much. He simply made up his own tales of war and filled in the gaps himself. It was better than leaving the work to someone who had issues.

This season though, there was no mansion to dive into and no oversized beast to fight. Instead Saber found the fields littered with various different monsters and creatures that dropped strange items all over the place. Their levels varied as did their locations and the number of people present at each zone depending on the levels there. Saber, of course, tended to venture into the higher level zones simply to beat on the monsters that thought themselves strong. Without so much as a sweat, he wiped out an entire zone of high level zombie-things and left the empty space for the next party to stumble into. It was a fun time, but also a boring time. He expected to get some kind of fight out of the things but it seemed that death was too heavy of a burden for some. Saber had tasted blood before and upon doing so, had lost all fear of the light on the other end of the tunnel. Dying enlightened Saber to the world once more and showed him that even if all was lost, the Gods would grace him with only a brief trip to Olympus before sending him back into the fray. It made him grin.

After a short hunt, Saber had returned to Londinium and was searching for a place to get food. That place was a small stall near the gate and it was cheap as well so he didn’t have to worry about going broke (if that was even possible for him). All of the food he bought, whether it was from a shabby stall or a gourmet restaurant, all tasted the same anyways so it didn’t matter. But, he didn’t buy a lot of full meals. Instead Saber picked up a horde of vegetables and fruits that he could eat on the go; oranges, apples, bananas, carrots, grapes, celery, and strawberries. Mixing food, if you weren’t a chef and if you didn’t do it by hand, made the food either turn into a disgusting mess or into a plate that tasted like soggy crackers if you were lucky. In all of his time in the world, Saber found that the only foods he could safely eat without the aid of a Chef were fruits and vegetables. The raw food materials still tasted like themselves and most of the time, Saber didn’t need anything more than that to keep going. He did need meat sometimes but if he truly needed a full meal, he went to the Café he enjoyed so much.

For now though, there was no time for a full meal. Saber had things to hunt. After paying for his food, Saber sent it all into his inventory. The only exception to his large deposit was a single red apple. He kept the apple out and began to toss it up into the air as he walked back towards the gate. As he marched, he caught the sight of a strangely familiar foxtail. He narrowed his eyes on her for only a moment before shifting his eyes away. He felt like he had seen her before, somewhere, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Maybe he had just seen her walking through the streets before, or maybe he was just imagining things. The foxtails all looked the same after a while.

“Now... what should I kill next…”

Convincing people was easy for someone like her, but just in case, she needed someone to make her suggestion seem a little bit more appealing than it sounded. She didn’t like having to resort to trickery even to the littlest degree that her plan involved but it had to be done; her reputation was on the line here. She would never be able to hear the end of it if someone like Aura or Neun picked up on her predicament.

Her eyes scanned the plaza, looking for anyone who was willing to help—or at least certainly has nothing too busy planned in their schedules. Her scanner filtered out the obviously busy trading posts and general merchants and focused on people simply enjoying their free time, relaxing and letting the worries of the day wash away with a refreshing beverage. Oh, poor souls.

The sly fox decided to pick one of them at random. She silently walked into the café and pretended to be considering something on their menu while subtly scooting over to the person. Just then, a waitress blocked her path.

“Excuse me, miss, you’ve been staring at the menu for a while, I’ve noticed. Would you like to order anything, at all?”

Drat, I’ve been caught. She racked her brain for an excuse. Oh how Shira wished she didn’t come out of nowhere like that.

“Oh, of course,” replied the fox, a bead of sweat trickled down her cheek as the waitress’ startling appearance kicked in. Who wouldn’t be startled? You don’t just sneak up on someone trying to sneak up on someone.

“I’m thinking… I’d like a cup of hot chocolate.” She thought of simply ordering something light and easy to finish, but now that she actually was reading menu she figured she should hed to a table immediately before she- “Oh oh! And a slice of blueberry cheesecake.” Later, she would have to punish herself for this; in her defense, nobody told her that there was such a place with a cheesecake that looked as tempting as it did.

She sat at the opposite end of the table, pretending not to notice the other person and conveniently tucking the hair away from her eyes. She had several faux excuses ready just in case. Here’s to hoping the waitress wasn’t the only one whose attention was caught.
