With the click of his tongue Roen had found himself being soaked, while the Swashbuckler was out dealing with monsters it had started to rain. An odd feeling overcame him as thoughts of the old world traversed his brain, the wet feeling reminding him of moments in his childhood along with times while he was a teenager and a college student. Ever since arriving within the world of Elder Tale he had yet to see it rain, therefore it would bring back old memories that had been buried within his subconscious. Suddenly a beaming grin covered the Swashbuckler's face, "So this world is just as justifiably real as our old one."
As a peculiar notion began to peregrinate within his cranium, was it possible that the realm he was currently lived in was supposed to be his new home? Of course most opinions would differentiate as it went from person-to-person, but the popular belief was that they would stay in the world of Elder Tale forever. It could be said that some people didn't even want to return, that somehow this place was supposed to be better than the other one. Personally, Roen didn't understand why most people believed for that world to be the lesser of the two. In fact he thought this place had a grandiose amount of danger that completely blew their previous one out of the water! Additionally it seemed to be much more chaotic as there hadn't been any type of civilization or set of laws!
Though there were just times where everyone couldn't possible see eye-to-eye, so that topic was better left to people who really felt like there was a need to argue over it. Roen stood up from the wet ground and began to walk through the shrubbery of the forest finding his way to an open field. Besides the drowsy weather it seemed to be an extremely beautiful scene for one to spectate! Actually he seemed to of enjoyed it much more when the clouds were of the bleaker shade, it just calmed his mind to a point where tranquility could be reached.
All of a sudden he had realized that perhaps he wasn't the only one that wanted to come out and take in the nature. Out of the other side of the field came two young bears, it came as a surprise to him. Figuring most of the animals would rather stay dry than get their fur wet, nevertheless as long as they didn't bother the Swashbuckler he'd purely ignore them. But that didn't seem to be the plan for the bears, they rapidly began to approach Roen and this caused him to be a little on edge. Unsheathing his two swords and bringing them to the ready he waited in stance before it was clear their intent was that of the ill nature. Dashing forth towards the pair he began to have doubts, possibly the only things that could hold him back. Shoving them to the side as the Swashbuckler got within striking range he pushed off the ground and did a flip over the first bear while dragging both of his swords all the way down it's back.
Although the second bear was a big closer than he had expected, it seemed to off seen what Roen did to it's friend and decided to return the favor with a slash to his back. This interrupted the man's fluid motion and caused him to fall and roll on the ground rather than elegantly landing. Although it wasn't time to sit over and cry over a little bit of pain, if he was going to survive in this world it would take much more than that to kick him to the curb. Within moments he had returned to running and slamming the wide side of the blade into the second bear's face while the first blade came to slash again at the first bear's back. From this he used an ability known as 'Fold Step' which allowed him to propel his body in a certain direction. The direction which he did so in was left, however once doing this he twisted both of his blades so that they would leave another slice on the pair. The first had been given a minor injury that was just a simple slice to the back. However, the second bear's eye seemed to off been sliced.
As he made his hasty retreat to gain some distance between his enemies and himself he heard both of the enraged bear's cries. They were both heavily injured, and they were incredibly ticked off. Right as it had seemed he had covered some ground they had done the same, and one of the bears went to bite as his leg- which he avoided. But that had left him completely open for the second bear to come in and slash at his chest. Thankfully his leather armor had taken most of the damage while he let out a low whimper to the injury, but he was not about to just sit there and take such injustice!
The first bear seemed disgruntled, it had taken most of the damage while the second bear had taken only a minor injury along with the injured eye. Using a second ability known as 'Straights' allowed him to deliver an additional blow to the bear, his sword in the left began to glow a glorious golden shine as it lurched forwards to deliver a devastating blow. Whilst the second sword had found it's way to the other bear's neck as if to keep it out of the way while it tried to kill it's friend. The first bear had attempted to try and get away from the attack, but it was not fast enough to do so. The bear had been struck right through it's throat and then into it's chest cavity. Within a moments notice the poor creature had died, and all that was left in it's wake had been gold on the ground followed by the little but if EXP he was given.
The second bear- which was currently being held back by the point of his sword -seemed extremely displeased and tried to duck under the sword and get to Roen. While doing so it cut the back of it's own neck, though it was not fast enough as Roen swung the sword to the left and delivered another finishing blow to the bear. At that moment the bear's fate had been aligned with the fate of it's friend, and it to only left the same.
The Swashbuckler's back had fallen towards the ground as a relaxed groan was let out, "That was intense! Sheesh, never thought killing two bears would be that hard." He stopped for a moment as he considered the words he had truly spoken, "Well... it is Elder Tale after all..." An awkward laugh had left the confines of his lips, there was something bothering the man. Was it truly all okay? Could they just kill as they liked just so they could get to a higher level? If these monsters couldn't respawn, what if every last one you killed, they actually died. Would adventurers like himself still be going out of their way to kill them for just some petty experience and a tiny bit of money?
Surely Roen couldn't of been the only one to feel such a way! It also made him think of people who were higher levels, it made him consider just how much killing they had truly done to reach such a standard! There wasn't much point in thinking about it, not many others would even consider his view point. Opinions were what they were meant to be, the feelings of certain individuals; not common facts. Additionally one could consider the Swashbuckler to be a hypocrite as he had not even minutes ago killed two animals whose prime role were that of beasts to kill so that you could further yourself as a fighter.
There wasn't much that he could do for himself if he just sat around the entire time worrying about if his morals were really in the right place or not. Lying in the mud as water from the sky flew down to his his forehead, and then rolled down to his cheeks finally being soaked up in the ground as he came to terms with his objective. Everyone in the world had a purpose, even the bears who had just happened to of walked in the forest had a purpose. Their purpose was to provide experience to novice players as well as a few pretty pennies so they wouldn't starve.
But what was his purpose? Could someone like him truly have a purpose in a world that was all about killing to get ahead? Perhaps his purpose was to fight; to kill so that others didn't have to. Or maybe he was just trying to consider himself some kind of white knight, well nevertheless he needed a purpose if he wanted to survive in a world such as this. Reaching his hand up towards the sky he bawled his fist up and furrowed his brow. Laying there, looking like an idiot with both swords to the ground beside him the male made his ambition even broader than before. "I don't know what my purpose in this world is just yet, but one day I will find out. And when I do... I shall complete it to the fullest of my ability."
Putting both of his palms towards the ground as he brought his legs up to an arch and then jumped up to stand on his feet. "And, until then I will do whatever the heck I want!" The other just smiled as he bent down so that he could grasp both of his weapons. While doing so he finally sheathed both of them alongside his sides and started to head off into the woods yet again. He didn't know where he was going, or when he was going to return. But really what was the point? As long as he got better he could go wherever the wind would take him. After all, the thing about being an Adventurer was... freedom.
What was left behind in his wake was peace, tranquility, no animal in sight dared to come near him as they had seen the fate of their previous companions. As the skies opened up and light began to shine down and cover the field in light as the dark clouds were flowing in a different direction, which also happened to ironically be going in the same direction the Swashbuckler was. Maybe it was just his lucky day, and the clouds were going in his direction, perhaps so would fate.

I SURE HOPE SO...
