‘Crappy weapons, poorly made armor, and a ripped shirt, truly the stuff of legends.’ Yurei thought to herself as she stepped out of the inn. Once upon a time her life had been normal, well normalish, well more normal than this at least. Once upon a time she had thought her life a grand adventure, of intrigue, and secrets the mission of a poor orphaned girl looking for her parents and the one place she belonged, well at least she thought that way before she had come to realize the reality of the world of the cold, brutal, and unhesitatingly selfish world. She shook her head, it was best not to think about the real world it just made her miss her bed, and her adoptive father’s chief. She began to walk down the street towards the forest again the wind blowing through her long silvery locks as she strolled through the streets, strange how it seemed so real every aspect was as you would expect from the venders to the beggars it really seemed as if they missed nothing when making this place.
Yurei stepped out of the gate and headed towards the forest pulling her sword out as she walked she had too many monsters sneak up on her for her to think that there’s nothing out there waiting for her to make a mistake. She swung the sword through the tall grass as she walked cutting some of the blades and simply bending others. “I really need a better weapon.” She said as she examined her katana placing her thumb on the blade, it was sharp, well sharpish at least like she said before it was more of a bludgeon than a sword.
When she looked up from her blade she noticed a boar the first one she saw today standing at the edge of the forest, she readied her sword and began to sneak her way towards the pig. Thinking maybe she could surprise the stupid animal and get a easy kill. Unfortunately for her the stupid animal had other plans. When she got up behind it, the animal kicked backwards with its hoofs throwing up mud that hit Yurei in the face, and the pig began to roll around squealing and grunting at such a jolly pitch that it wasn’t hard for Yurei to come to the conclusion that the pig was laughing at her.
Her face bright red and angry she raised the blade and swung in a down U shape, much like a golf swing. The pig was too busy laughing to see it coming as it was struck by the sword it went flying. It flew high into the air before disappearing and turning into coins and items showering down on Yurei. She grumbled as she cleaned off her face and picked up the coins still angry that porky had gotten the better of her. She turned to head deeper into the forest, her sword held loosely at her side prepared for the worst that this place could throw at her.

She let the crappy sword drag behind her the tip leaving a trail so that she’d be able to leave the forest when she wanted to. She continued deeper into the woods looking around for enemies. She poked her head made it to a clearing and noticed a few a group of boars. She pulled up her sword and picked up a rock. She looked around and found a rock and threw it at the closest boar standing at the edge of the herd. The pig grunted, and turned to face her steam shooting out of its nose it was furious as it charged at her. The pig ran at her and Yurei prepared herself after her experiences yesterday she had thought things gotten a good grasp of how the boars attacked and came up with a few ways to deal with them she back turned and ran heading for the nearest tree as the pig gained on her she turned to face it with the tree behind her. As it got ready to plow into her she side stepped letting the animal charge into the tree temporarily stunning it. She kicked the pig as hard as she could and it fell losing its footing, it squealed in outrage but the fight was already over. Yurei raised her sword and drove it down into the pig running it through the pig exploded, in a shower of coins of a small denomination and a few items.
“That’s a whole lot easier” she said bending over to pick up the coins she tossed them into the air before catching them again and shoving them into her pocket. She returned to the clearing to see if she could pick off another one of the dumb animals. The boars weren’t particularly tough, but if they came at her in a group she was a dead girl. She picked up another rock tossing it up and catching it she repeated the motion over and over again as she looked for her next target. She circled the clearing looking for an easy target but it looked like if she agro one she’d get the whole lot of them. She pursed her lips a thought. There was about 10 of them in the clearing surrounding a larger boar that one seemed to be the boss, it had great big tusks and was at least twice the size of the rest of the little piggies. She’d have to avoid him he was too tough for her to kill. The others where much easier prey but she’d have to be able to separate them somehow or pick them off one way or another.
Just as she was about to give up an idea came to her. And she turned to double back on her trail, she grinned as she ran passed the ditch that she had come across earlier maybe it had been a stream at one point but now all that was left was a ditch about 4 feet deep . She grinned as she looked for something to cover the ditch with.

Soon she was hard at work covering the ditch with sticks and leaves she marked it by drawing a line with her own sword right before and after the ditch so she would know where it was before she continued to gather and scatter leaves over the ditch. After she finished she grinned and whipped the sweat away from her for head leaving a streak of dirt in its wake. She grinned happily as she stood back to admire her work. The cover was almost flawless anyone who wasn’t looking for it wouldn’t be able to see it, and a few dumb pigs definitely wouldn’t know what to look for. She dirty and tired she was proud of her trap. She slowly moved back towards the group of pigs. She picked up another rock as she walked back to where they had been.
They were still there grazing; Yurei grinned and threw another rock hitting one of the smaller pigs as a lump came up on his head. She grinned as she the pig squealed than turned chasing after her angrily. As she bolted off back towards her ditch. She hoped over the ditch and waited for them a few seconds later she saw them chasing after her. six of the pigs came chasing after her luckily the big one had not been aggroed. The first 3 fell into the ditch and the other 3 trampled them as they ran over them to get to her. The 3 in the ditch had taken damage when they fell and then even more when their fellows trampled them to get across the ditch. She grinned as she pulled her sword and charged back at them and struck the first of the pigs running her blade through the pig spitting it. It disappeared but the other two now had time to get ready themselves. Alice walked back over to the ditch and hopped over the ditch than as the pigs got ready for another charge, she plunged her sword down to kill one of the one of the porkers left in the hole.
“Come on than.” She said pointing her sword at them than raised the two handed sword above her head readying for another charge. When the two pigs came at her again, Yurei side stepped than brought down her sword on the head of the first of the two flattening it on the ground but it wasn’t enough to kill the stupid animal it grunted in pain before turning and lunging at her. Yurei barely managed to avoid the full attack but took some damage as it smacked into her leg. She winched it hurt but it didn’t do a huge amount of damage she took a deep breath as she swept the sword from left to right striking the pig again managing to make it turn to coins.
That only left one that wasn’t stuck In the ditch. Easy pickings for our heroine, she rushed the last monster charging at it her sword at her side ready to perform a left to right slash to end the last creature as soon as she was close enough. The pig grunted and ran towards her, as it came into attacking range she side stepped to avoid the pigs charged and then she swung using the momentum of the swing to turn 360 degrees as well as cutting through the pig as well. She then walked over to the ditch stabbing down wards at the remaining two remaining pigs finishing them off before stashing her sword and heading back. Towards the last of the pigs it was time to finish this, there was only 4 left but the big one was still alive as well.

Upon returning to the field she stepped out and pulled out her blade. She charged towards the remaining monsters. She didn’t wait for them if she was going to win this fight she would have to take out the little monsters first before taking on the big one and if she struck fast enough she could kill the little ones before the big one noticed. She struck hard and fast taking out the first one with a side swipe, before turning to the one closest to her now and bringing the sword up diagonally to take out the it out in a single strike at this point the other three pigs had realized what was going on and turned to face her. The little ones where the first to attack, she had just enough time to dive to the side avoiding the attacks, before the big one barreled towards her. She rolled to the left coming to her feet again as she avoided its attack only to catch one of the little ones in the back as she came to her feet. “OUCH!” she cried out as she reversed her grip and stabbed backwards killing another one but it had dropped her health bar to half. That only left 2 the big guy and a little one. This time she had enough time to strike the smaller one as it charged, the big one was all that was left of the group of monsters. She readied herself for the fight this one wasn’t like the other one it had some serious tusks for one thing and it was a whole lot bigger than the rest of them. She readied her blade at holding it in two hands in front of her as she waited for the boar to make the first attack, she didn’t have to wait too long it charged at her almost right away so fast in fact that she didn’t even have time to dodge, instead she took the back of the blade in one hand and the handle in the other blocking it’s tusk and sliding to the side. She managed to turn its attack enough that she was able to side step it. She struck it as it ran off but it didn’t do much damage, she was in trouble if she didn’t figure out something soon.
She thought hard, after coming to this world she had treated this place like the real world but it wasn’t really and there was something that she hasn’t tried it she remember that she had skills. Swinging her sword was all well and good against the smaller monsters but until she figured out how to use her skills she’d never be able to fight anything bigger. She swung her sword down trying to figure out how to use the skills but it only managed to aggravate the boar who charged her again. Once more she managed to turn the attack by blocking it, but she was getting tired if she didn’t figure out how to use skills soon she was going to be a goner and that would be well bad? She guessed after all didn’t you just come back to life when that happened, she shook her head side to side no that wasn’t the point the point was that she was not going to die here not if she could help it. She tried to think of something than she remembered something she had overheard in town someone had said that to use a skill all you’d have to do is preform the motion and call out the name of the skill. She quickly accessed her menu and looked through the skills available to her. All she had in that department was kabutoswari, shunsen and seinrushinken. She hadn’t really read what they did but right now wasn’t the time. She quickly read the motion of the first skill she “Kabutowari is a simple technique that involves a quick forward charge followed by a vertical slash aiming to cut down on the target's head.” She did as the skill said charging forward at the pig slashing at it vertically bringing her sword from side to side as she called out “Kabutowari!” she half expected the skill to fail but it didn’t well at least she didn’t think it did there wasn’t a giant difference no flash or anything but the damage she did to the boar was significantly more noticeable. She smiled and quickly read the next skill since she knew she only had a full chain of moves she assumed that meant it had to be used relatively close to one another. “Shunsen is a quick and sudden horizontal slash that cuts the air and forms a cutting wave vacuum which deals additional damage” she nodded as she finished reading quickly bringing her sword up above her head before bringing it down “SHUNSEN!” she cried out as she struck and this time she was sure it had worked she created a vacuum. The boar squeeled in pain as it backed up a few steps and readied itself for a charge.
She looked down quickly reading the last skill. “The user's mana swirls around their weapon as they lift it upward in preparation for an overhead strike. With an animation time of three seconds, the use of this skill is very distinctive and will throw most opponents into caution. However, after the animation is concluded, the weapon is slammed down at the ground, releasing a massive golden energy cutting wave forward, with a maximum range of three meters.” She shrugged and raised her sword. The pig was still getting ready to charge. This was going to be close she thought as she held the sword up waiting 1 second passed and she could see the glow of mana around her sword the boar was almost ready to charge. 2 seconds passed and she knew it was almost time, and the boar had taking off kicking up gravel as it charged her. 2.5 god the pig was getting close 2.7 he was only a few feet away, 3! She brought her sword down just in time she felt the breath of the boar against her face as the light of the skill burst around her the bright golden light engulfed the pig killing it. “oh god..” she said as she slumped to the floor exhausted from her efforts. The pig had turned to coins and items and dropped into a neat little pile next to her. She sighed as she got back to her feet a goofy little smile on her face surpised at her own success as she gathered up her earnings for the day before heading out of the forest and back towards town she figured she had earned a decent bit of rest.
