Caerbannog woke up to the sound of busy people passing by and to the bright rays of the sun on her face. Once again she’d fallen asleep in the streets, some place which was deserted at night. It couldn’t possibly be good for her health or safety, but the girl was not comfortable with the idea of hanging around in an inn with so many other adventurers. And so, there she was, curled up at the side of some busy street; people looked at her as they passed by, but she looked nothing like a beggar, more like a lost child instead. Indeed, that’s what a lander thought when she saw the girl.
“ You’re lost? “ the kind lander asked.
She seemed to be a middle-aged woman, and Caerbannog would have thought her to be an adventurer if not for her plain clothes which looked like what most other landers wore. Not that an adventurer could not look like a lander, but the samurai deduced that this one was among the People of the Land, and she deduced correctly. In any case-
“ I’ll help you find you Mommy, okay? “ the woman said, and before the adventurer could protest, she was taken by the hand and ushered into the busy crowd.
Kyuu wondered where the woman would take him, but for sure it was nowhere shady because they stayed in the busy street. Perhaps towards something like a police box? Or maybe a well-known shop or pub where people gossiped and knew one another. She wasn’t too worried, but the girl was still quite the sight for her face gave it away that she was incredibly upset. Not because a stranger was pulling her along to some unknown destination, but because the woman thought she was a child. Communicating through words was not the samurai’s forte though. Instead of drawing attention to herself by yelling, Kyuu merely grabbed someone along the way- a girl slightly taller than herself, with waist-length white hair. If the girl turned to look at her, the blackhaired samurai would mouth “HELP!”

(Legend: Actions / "Haneroze's thoughts" )
Sitting on a bench, Haneroze looked at her notepad. She managed to find someone selling some of them the day before, so she bought two of them, one for drawing, and one for a diary. It was getting late thought, so she didn't have time to draw or write anything.
"This is the first time I use an actual feather. Even if this world is just an illusion, that could be an interesting experience!"
She plunged her feather into the ink pot, then softly drew a stroke on her notepad. The result did not please Haneroze. The line was equally thick and completely black. She tried to barely touch the paper with the feather, which made a big black dot appear. She sighed.
"This is bad. This is very bad quality. Zero pressure control, it can only draw thick lines... I can't even hope to sketch anything with thick lines and a canvas of this size."
She tried to draw something simple, an apple. It looked like a non-colored picture out of a children book. She tried adding monochrome shadow, but that didn't turn out well. She tore the first page apart.
"So this is all I can do without being an Artisan or a Scribe? Even for writing a diary, that'd be hungry on space..." She looked out to the streets. "I chose Pharmacist without knowing it would have turned out to become real... I've heard we can change jobs, maybe I should do so? But that'd mean I would have to buy all the potions I want for my fighting style. Is it a good idea...?"
She stared ahead for a small while.
"I should first go see what's the price of potions. They're just potions, so they should be affordable, I think..."
She washed her feather with a tissue she bought, closed the ink pot, then placed everything inside her bag. Then she stood up, walking toward the market.
A minute later, out of nowhere, someone grabbed her. It was not accidental. She turned to see who it was: a young-looking girl with black hair being pulled by a woman. The girl mouthed "HELP!" right after she turned. She watched them getting farther.
"Help? Is she being kidnapped? No, that doesn't seem like it, that woman does not seem to mean any harm. But she isn't liking that situation. What should I do? What can I do? ... For now, maybe I should try to understand this woman's intentions."
She caught up to them, then touched the woman on her shoulder to draw her attention.

The samurai was very confused. She didn’t really look like a lost child now, did she? Taking into account that she was all by herself, curled up beside the road and was half-asleep when the woman found her... well, maybe she did look a little lost.
“ Uhm... “ the girl prepared to speak up.
Just then, the white-haired person whom she grabbed earlier -an action which she really should apologize for as soon as possible; caught up to the pair and drew the lander’s attention. Only then did Caerbannog notice that the lander was much taller if compared to her and the other girl. Kyuu barely reached the woman’s shoulder, and in addition to that, the lander was much larger built and also had a definite motherly aura about her.
“ Oh hello, are you lost too? “ the lander asked the white-haired girl.
Caerbannog waited for the other girl to answer as it would be disrespectful to interrupt them, while noting that her hair was brilliantly white, her eyes were of a pretty color that seemed to sparkle, and she was taller than the samurai too. But now was not the time to admire the other person; Kyuu looked through the crowd for any familiar faces and she would wave frantically to get their attention.

Kumori was in the market looking at some wares that his fellow tailors were selling. While he could make all of this himself, he was here simply to check the competition. While he was looking at a cloak that someone was selling, lesser quality than the ones he was producing for the same price. He shook his head and then continued to walk towards the next stall, but before he could make it, he was hit nudged on the shoulder by an older woman. He turned to look at who it was. “I’m sorry, please forgive…” he looked at the girl who was being led by her hand and then the words “are you lost, too?” made him want to smack his hand to his face. He could only assume that the girl he knew as Kyuu was doing something that made her look lost… like not communicating with anyone. “Ahh, thank you for finding my sisters. She tends to wander off on her own sometimes, and it’s hard to keep track of her,” he said. He apologized to the older lady and gave shook her hand and thanked her as she left the two girls alone.
As the woman went on to do her own chores and errands, Kumori looked at the other girl. “Hi, my name is Kumori and this is Caerbannog… if she doesn’t talk to you, don’t feel bad… she’s usually like that except with people that she knows well… even then getting her to speak 10 words is difficult,” he said. He looked back at Kyuu. “So… want to explain?” he said, trying to figure out why someone thought she was lost. “I really should stay with you more often,” he sighed. “Anyways, have you eaten yet?” he asked the two. He figured that he’d treat them out to lunch since he was here and he had just gotten a big sale of his wares recently. He was feeling generous, and well it was Kyuu. If he didn’t spoil her, no one would. OOC NOTES: 338words

Haneroze was slightly stupefied as the woman asked if she was lost.
"Lost? Too? She's quick on assumptions! Then, that means that she must also have assumed it about this girl."
She looked at the girl with black hair and concentrated a bit to open her Info window. Caerbannog, Wolf Hair, Samurai.
"She's an Adventurer. I wonder why she assumed--"
Then she heard someone join in the conversation. She turned toward an Assassin, who solved the situation easily. She slightly lowered her head for a second.
"Aaah, seems like I wasn't needed after all."
She rose it back before Kumori introduced himself and the girl, learning that Caerbannog didn't spoke much. She looked at the two in succession.
"These two remind me of me and my twin brother... I wish Dimitri was here with me..."
Then, the Assassin asked if they had eaten. Haneroze looked upward, noting that the sun was already almost at its peak.
"It's already dinner time? Feels like not much time has passed. I guess that without any sort of transportation, walking around takes its toll of time by itself."
She looked back toward Kumori, then shook her head left and right to say no.

Much to the black-haired girl’s relief, they ran into Kumori. He was able to solve the problem quickly; something that Caerbannog would not have been able to do as it required... words. But the reason that he gave was less than likable. Nope, Kyuu did not like it at all. He was treating her like a child- again! Before she could plot her revenge, the assassin then introduced both of them to the white-haired girl. Distracted from her plotting, the samurai waved enthusiastically at the other person. She also tried to smile, though that turned out awkwardly. While she did not like to speak to or be around people, the samurai knew that she owed that girl somewhat because of the incident. At the very least, she wanted to make it up to her.
“ So sorry... “ Caerbannog bowed to the white-haired girl, “ For grabbing. “
Kumori then asked the samurai if she wanted to explain, to which Kyuu just replied with a blank stare. The blank stare turned to a frown.
“ Slept on roadside, “ Kyuu bluntly replied.
The samurai then turned to the white-haired girl, this time with a more natural smile on her face. She gestured for their new acquaintance to follow, and Caerbannog headed for a nearby restaurant. The girl easily found an empty table for the shop’s patrons had not rushed in yet. She took a seat and, oddly enough, spoke to the other girl again.
“ Order anything, “ she said, “ Oniichan will PAY. Right, oniichaaaan? “

Ryuu glared at Kyuu as she responded with “slept on roadside.” He shook his head at her and noted that he would find a place for her to stay. At this rate, he was going to be broke because of this girl. If he had a budget sheet, it’d show that most of the expenses were from the girl in front of him. He was about to place his palm in his face, but he decided against it and shook his head instead.
Ryuu looked at the women in front of him. When he offered food, Kyuu gave an enthusiastic reply and even coaxed the other player to going with them, however all she did in response was shake her head. You’ve got to be kidding me… he thought, praying that he was not with another person who didn’t speak much. Well, if she didn’t speak much, Ryuu was determined to make it that this person did. “You sure? I mean it’s my treat, and well, as she just said, anything you want…” he said, but that made him focus on the words that Kyuu had just spoken. She just said Oniichan didn’t she… she did… Oh Lord… Well it wasn’t the first time this occurred. This usually happened, especially in circumstances after Kyuu got in trouble and Ryuu had to go save her, did she ever say that word. It happened a lot, and since she was partly Asian and he was Asian, it wasn’t hard to pass off as her real brother at home. It usually meant that she was getting annoyed at him for treating her like a kid, but Ryuu tended to do that even more so, after she starts calling him oniichan, further annoying her… or at least that’s what he thought anyways. “Alright imouto… what do you want… did you want a kid’s meal?” he asked, smiling as he did so. Revenge was sweet in this case. He then looked towards the other girl and gave her the menu. “Just pick something that looks good to you and I’ll order it for you… If I can get her to talk, I can probably get you to talk eventually, I think… please?” he almost begged, trying to make it so that he wouldn’t have to suffer a year of talking to himself… again.
Well, it was all he could do, and he figured his antics with Kyuu would make anyone giggle. He hadn’t heard a peep from her, and so he would do anything in his power to make her make a sound… anything… like tickling her… that would be his next step. OOC NOTES: 438 words

(This is extremely hard to reply at, because you guys have already entered what I call a multi-layered conversation, and thus the timeline of this thread has already gone wrong! I'm not going to insert any action before the last action of my last post. And Rien, please pay more attention, you've made 2 big mistakes! I'm assuming you didn't do the first mistake, which is to forget the question your character asked, because it also simply doesn't work at all!)
Haneroze saw Caerbannog make sign to follow her. She guessed she was headed toward somewhere to eat. She looked toward Kumori, who was already following her (I'm assuming, because you completely skipped that moment), so she followed them.
As she arrived at the restaurant, she looked around curiously, while walking toward the Samurai.
"Is this an Adventurer restaurant? I don't think they'd be eager to treat someone to a tasteless meal, but I thought it was too early for anyone to manage a restaurant. Maybe the Adventurer behind this owned a restaurant in real life?"
As she took a seat, she listened to the two friends, or maybe brother and sister. She smiled at their conversation, thinking they were probably like that in real life too. She picked the menu, but she didn't have time to start reading that she had to answer to Kumori.
"You'll unfortunately never get me to speak..."
She deposited the menu on the table and faced Kumori. Then she opened her mouth and pointed it, then closed it, formed an X with her two arms and waved her head left and right. She supposed he would understand what that'd mean, as the Samurai from day 1 did understand what it meant.
She picked back the menu and started reading what was available.

Kyuu pouted when Kumori asked if she wanted a kid’s meal. Of course she did! With all those cute toys and... wait, no. The samurai suddenly stood up.
“ Please wait here, “ the girl said, and then she walked towards the shop owner.
It probably would not have been audible from where the assassin and the white-haired girl sat, but the samurai managed to somehow introduce herself to the lander owner. She explained that she was a chef, and that she would like to try to cook for her companions- and that the long-haired guy would pay for the expenses. The lander was skeptical, and also found it difficult to understand the fragmented words that Kyuu used, but in the end, as long as someone was going to pay for what the girl would use, it wasn’t an issue.
Using basic ingredients such as some vegetables that looked like lettuce, tomatoes and olives, the samurai put together a salad with dressing made of vinegar, olive oil, lemons and thyme. Kyuu also quickly whipped up a large omelette with mushrooms and cheese, some questionable nuggets which she made up before and on her own too, and lastly, a simple clear soup made of meat broth and common herbs. Since everything was made up of two or three ingredients only, it did not take long for her to cook their meal. Unfortunately though, she could not find ingredients for some sweet confection, so they would have to deal with having no dessert. A lander helped Caerbannog when she had to carry the dishes over to the table, after which the samurai crossed her arms as she stood beside Kumori.
“ I’m a capable adult, see?! ” she gloated.

“Ohhhh, he replied to the girl who further motioned out her response to his former question He had misunderstood, and so he finally got it. He apologized for his misunderstanding and waited for her to choose her item on the menu, but before they could pick something, and after Kyuu realized his not-so-subtle insult, she stood up and asked to use the kitchen. Ryuu stood up from his seat to make sure she didn’t cause trouble. After a few seconds of confusion and hair-scratching moments of awe, she was allowed to use the kitchen. It wasn’t without a cost though. Ryuu was forced to pay for the ingredients that were used in preparing the dishes that Kyuu made. He handed over the necessary currency for the ingredients and then watched Kyuu worked.
It seemed that this was much different from when they were in school. It seemed like she had practiced making food while she was here. Her subclass was cook, so it was only to be expected, but he nodded in approval and praise when she came back and told him she was an adult in a matter-of-fact way. He smiled. “Yes, you’re becoming a little closer to a tween… I mean… I think I cooked my own meals when I was 12… like my own omlettes and stuff…” he said teasingly, making sure that Kyuu did not get all of the satisfaction of showing Ryuu that she was adult. No, she’d have to earn that place, and it would be an arduous journey for her in terms of traversing the trek of childhood to adulthood, at least in Ryuu’s mind. OOC NOTES: 272 words

Haneroze barely had time to read the first meal that she saw Caerbannog stand up and head away from the table. She stared at her curiously, wondering what she was doing. Haneroze then remembered what Kumori said about the Samurai usually not saying more than 10 words.
"Hmmm... Was that exaggerated, or is that her most talkative day?"
Haneroze smiled as she looked back to her menu. A quick look made her notice two things. The first is that the design of the menu felt both professionnal yet old. It lacked any sort of design research, yet it was not poorly executed. As if this lack of design was standard. The second is that meals seemed somewhat fancy, despite that she heard fancy meals could not be manually cooked before reaching a good Cook level.
"So it is a Lander Restaurant. These meals are all tasteless, then... Better just take something healthy and cheap."
She looked toward where Caerbannog was, but she saw instead the owner arriving at the table, asking Kumori for the expanses of the ingredients used by the Samurai, then leaving after he paid.
"So she is cooking for us? A surprise meal, then?"
As she arrived with the meals, she examined them all. All simple meals, probably possible for a low level Cook. As Caerbannog claimed she was a capable adult, Haneroze took curious notice of the nuggets. Nuggets that ressembled those in children menu (They're the same shape than in your research thread, right?). She looked back at the girl seeming proud to be an adult, and the man making another ironic remark.
Haneroze laughed.
But unlike normally, that laugh was not silent. She let out sounds. Three Ha. She felt the sounds coming out of her mouth. She quickly realized it, quickly placing her right hand close to her mouth and expressing great surprise with her eyes.
"Did... Did I... I... I can speak in this world?"

Preparing a meal for three people was quite the feat for the samurai. She’d never done it before and with the help of the game system, she was able to do it properly. The girl was sure that her father would have praised her if he’d seen it; and so Kumori’s words hit her like a sack of bricks. Ice-cold bricks which were about ten times heavier than regular bricks, if such a thing existed. The assassin was the only ‘family’ that she had in the game, but as always he was being quite the jerk.
“ You like it? “ Caerbannog asked the white-haired girl who suddenly laughed; the samurai herself sat down and rejoined their small circle.
Kyuu missed that revelation about their new acquaintance’s inability to speak, and so she figured that the other girl was just really quiet; the laughter did not surprise her one bit. But for some reason, Haneroze – Kyuu just noticed that adventurer’s name- seemed really awed, puzzled, confused or just plain surprised by the revelation that she could speak. This momentarily took her mind off the fact that Ryuu managed to make her feel like crap- again.
The wolf hair wasn’t one to rain on someone else’s parade. In this case, a parade of decent food and laughter for she understood all too well the horrors of system-generated meals. Though she managed to keep her spirits up, or at least look that way so as not to shower gloom upon their mealtime- everything tasted bad to Kyuu. It wasn’t the usual Elder Tale sort of bad taste, but something closer to real life: I feel like shit so everything tastes bad. Still she willed herself to eat some of the things that she cooked, particularly the omelette. And if Haneroze allowed, the samurai would place some of the funny-shaped nuggets on that other girl’s plate.

A “Ha ha ha” came from someone that was close to him, but not familiar voice. He stared at the source of the laugh, and her expression was similar to his: shock and awe. “You… you spoke?” he asked. He wasn’t expecting an answer, no, not at all, but this much surprise, it was like the first time he heard Kyuu speak. _________________________________________
About a year or two ago, Kyuu and Ryuu met. They were in the same GE class, one that Ryuu didn’t really care about. Ryuu thought that having to spend one and a half hours of his life in a boring class he could pass with his eyes closed with mandatory attendance, Ryuu decided to do something else during his time in class. The activities varied from sleeping, studying, flirting, etc. Basically, all he did was do anything that wasn’t related to the class. He passed with a B+, decent marks for one who didn’t study or pay attention in class, but let’s get back to the story. Ryuu decided, one day, to play a game in class. No one sat directly next to him (to the left and right of him) but Kyuu, unbeknownst to Ryuu, was behind him, watching him because she was interested in what he was playing. A week passed, and Kyuu finally sat right next to him, her laptop out, and the same game loaded. Ryuu, being Ryuu, started a conversation with her. It took a while, but he eventually got her to add him to her friend list (because getting her handle out of her seemed to prove impossible). After six months of gaming at the library, in class, in the cafeteria, Kyuu finally muttered something under her breath. Ryuu leaned in and was bewildered. “Huh?” he wondered. “Ky-“ she whispered. Finally, Ryuu leaned in a bit closer, and without warning she almost yelled: “KYUU!”. Ryuu looked at her somewhat confused and then she went back to her soft voice: “name”. Ryuu nodded in understanding. “I see, Kyuu is your name… well it’s nice to finally meet you,” OOC NOTES: 346 words

Haneroze slowly looked back at Kumori after his question. After a second of hesitation, she nodded.
"My laughs never made any sound before! So, everything about this body is different than in real life!"
She wanted to try to do a sound by herself, but she realized, she had no idea how to. She had never learned how to pronounce, and the only clue she had for that was the feel she felt during her left. She blushed a bit as she decided it was not wise to try here.
Haneroze placed the menu out of the way, picked one of the empty plates, then served herself a bit of salad. She then tried to reach for the nuggets, but they were out of range.

The conversation between Kumori and Haneroze confused the samurai. Did Caerbannog miss something important while she was away? The looks on their faces were telltale signs that something significant happened, but the black-haired girl had no idea as to what it was. Perhaps she could ask Kumori later, or the next day, or the day after the next... or she could just forget about it.
While she was wondering to herself, almost never out loud of course, the black-haired girl noticed that their new acquaintance wanted some of the nuggets. Pleased that someone in their circle appreciated her cooking, Caerbannog pulled the fried meal closer to Haneroze. She then put a dinosaur and the letters Y A Y on the other girl’s plate.
Not wanting Kumori to think that she was neglecting him in favor of the much nicer adventurer, the samurai also put some nuggets on his plate. Caerbannog placed the food items neatly so that they could be read from where the assassin sat. It spelled out M E A N I E.

He looked at Haneroze to do or say something, but he wasn't sure. Maybe he shouldn't force her. Well it didn't matter too much. Ryuu decided to continue his interaction with Kyuu unless the other girl said something.
“Didn’t you ever learn not to play with your food?” he asked before he took the M of the word MEANIE and ate it. When Ryuu was able to taste the food, he smiled and nodded towards Kyuu in satisfaction. He gave a thumbs up and said: “Oishii,” he’d explain. It was rare for him to go into his native tongue. He only did so when he was overly excited or when he meant he was serious. Kyuu would know that, and so it would at least give her some hope that Ryuu was seeing her as more of an adult than a child. Even though he didn’t do it often, he did compliment Kyuu, but he usually showed his friendship by making sure she didn’t do things that would get her in trouble. He also made sure Kyuu kept up with her studies while they were at school, threatening to take away her games. He enjoyed playing games with her, but he knew that there were still responsibilities that needed to be upheld. He was often the voice of reason, which is why Kyuu hated him at times, but also was so attached to him.
“I’m proud of you Caerbannog,. You did good,” he said trying to show that he did actually still know how to be nice. He smiled at her and nodded. He didn’t even pat her head to show that Ryuu was respecting her a bit more. She was getting closer to actually being an adult, and Ryuu was happy for her. OOC NOTES: 294 words

Haneroze slightly bowed as to thank Caerbannog for giving her some nuggets. She pulled her dish back to her, picked some ustensils, and then started eating the salad. She smiled as she tasted it.
"Feels good to have a meal with taste after so many days!"
As she heard Kumori scolding the Samurai for playing with food, she noticed that she spelt 'Yay' with the nuggets. Haneroze did a small audible laugh. She then took a small bite off the dinosaur.
"Is she a beginner at cooking? That's quite good for first tries. Or is manual cooking easier anyway?"
She continued eating, alternating between the salad and the nuggets, while wandering into her thoughts.
"Hmmm... How should I go about practicing pronouncing? Trial or Error? Or should I better have a tutor?"

Haneroze let out another laugh. It was a cute sound, something different from the loud voices of landers and adventurers, different from the shrieks and howls of woodland creatures. In such a light-hearted atmosphere, the samurai gradually felt better than she did just moments ago. She began to actually enjoy her omelette, and just relax around her companions.
Then that was when her stepmom, er Kumori, complimented her, first by speaking in Japanese. Just when she was wondering if he wanted to start a fight too; though their fights were rarely serious, and were merely petty ones whenever he teased or annoyed her. When he spoke in that language, it put the girl at ease... but only by a very, very little bit. Her eyes narrowed down to slits; she was doubtful of the assassin’s words. Sometimes she wondered if he really meant such things, or if he only did that to avoid trouble. Suddenly, another compliment, this time a lengthier one...
“ Eee~ ?! “ Kyuu was so surprised that she just stared at him for a while.
While she was quick to get upset by the smallest things, the samurai could also be easily appeased. To show Kumori that she was no longer annoyed, Kyuu took his free hand put it on her head. Two gentle pats ought to do. Then she put his hand down. Her cheeks turned bright red, a reaction that rarely ever happened; being complimented felt great! At least she could do -something- right, no matter how simple it was.
“ Did I do good? Cooking? “ the samurai asked Haneroze, wanting an audible answer from her though the white-haired girl did seem to be enjoying her meal.

What surprised Ryuu the most was Kyuu’s response. She grabbed his free hand. Ryuu looked at her, bewildered, but he didn’t pull away, rather he let her do as she pleased. She placed his hand on the top of her head and moved his hand up and down to simulate his usual action of patting her when she did something good. “I thought you hated it when I did that,” he said. He shrugged and continued eating the food she made, wondering if the other girl would do something else other than laugh. He did as much as he could, but he did begin loading her plate with food to show that she was not forgotten. “You should eat up before it’s all gone,” he said to her. OOC NOTES: 128 words

"But I'd also need a place to practice. I don't have any private place, and I don't want to practice in public. That'd be far too--"
Haneroze noticed the question Caerbannog asked was directed at her. She highered her head and did a swift nod while smiling. She then saw Kumori adding more food into her plate.
"Ah! Stop! I won't be able to eat that much!"
Haneroze quickly deposited her ustensils and waved her two hands symetrically at the height of her shoulders, as to say that was enough. She then placed her right hand on her belly and immobilized her left hand, wide-opened, still at the same height, as to say she didn't have much of an appetite.
She looked back at her plate, seeing a meal normally too big for her appetite.
