was wanting to know if
1) A Sorcerer could be a melee combatant
2) If so, how would you go about it?
3) If not, can you use an Overskill to do so?
I was re-reading Mahou Sensei Negima with a classmate and wondered if that sort of combat was possible on here or not
So to explain this, I was thinking about how sorcerers and other magic users tend to be stand-back types which are weak in combat.
Sure, currently you can use masteries to use melee weapons, or maybe a magic user will prefer using an actual weapon.
What I'm getting at is the use of magic to replace weapons. "But they DO use magic in place of weapons, stupid~"
Lemme get to the point ^_^;
The way I'm meaning is similar to adding magic to another trait, like how a swordsman combined with a fire user will become a fire-swordsman.
In this sense, I'm thinking of a combat magician. If you've read/watched Mahou Sensei Negima, you'll understand what I mean.
For those that haven't I'll say shortly, using Log Horizon terms =P
Negi starts off as your typical sorcerer, casting magic from a distance, fighting with spells. But often, he would be stuck in melee combat.
Later on, he learns to fight monk-style and then casts his normal magic in-between or during hits.
But is this possible for sorcerer's here? Can they actually go into a melee fight using magic as their sword and shield? Like, maybe cast a fireball with their punch to 'power up' their hit, so to speak.
Use a spell to increase physical strength in a way, to make one's punch just as heavy or deadly as a monk's.
And if they can fight like this, then is it practical? In an RPing perspective? Ignoring preference and weapon masteries, is this practical?
If they can't, is it possible to power up the adventurer using an Overskill? Seems a bit far to reach lvl 91 JUST so they can fight solo or in a tank position. Or DPS.
The overskill thought that comes to mind, other than some insanely powerful spell that obliterates everything is equipping previous spells like armor and weapons.
That idea comes from Negima, but the nature of it stands strong. Absorb/equip a spell to a slot or limb and gain traits/qualities/stats relevant to that spell.
For example, absorb a fireball into the right arm or equip a fireball into the right hand weapon slot, and gain strength stats + fire dmg. Equip wind to feet or accesory and move faster. That sort of thing.
TL;DR go to top.
