Elliot had lost nearly all semblance of control. He was used to channeling spirits and the will of the divine to use his barriers, but this... this was different. The rod in his hand amplified his powers, but also seemed to take them for its own. He wanted to be mad, but the beautiful music... the rod made such beautiful music that he could never be upset with it. He noticed that his feet began to sink a little as he walked, and after shaking his head to gain a bit of clarity, he realized that the rod had led him all the way from the square to the Thames. It felt so good to be near the Thames! The power flow from the rod increased as the tip began to glow ever-so dimly. The general area had been found, but finding the specific location of the crumbling cuneiform tablet was another story. He felt the control of the rob lessen, almost like it was now up to him to find the tablet. The rod had only needed control to bring him to the place of beginnings. "All of the people at the Thames are probably going to agitate and stir up the creatures that dwell here, so watch my back, all right?" He said, finally taking in the entirety of his surroundings. People were everywhere. The shore of the Thames looked like someone had stomped on top of an ant bed and all of the inhabitants were frantically looking for someone to bite. He caught himself wondering what it would look like from the vantage point of a helicopter. 'Probably the same as it does down here. Now focus, Elliot! He chided himself. Now was not the time to be looking at the patters of crazed people looking for an ancient artifact they could use for personal gain. [attr="class","capsol"] Hiro, covered his eyes a bit, as he walked out into the sun of the Thames Coastline, the words from the Sage still ringing very clearly through his head. Assuming the others were nearby, as he and Elliot were the first two off the transport to the coast, he felt that there wasn't much else that needed doing, specifically for the fact that their mission was already laid out before them. All they needed to do now was start looking. Luckily enough, Elliot still had the Divining Rod that the Sage had given them, after the speech in the central plaza back in London, so whenever Elliot wanted to get moving, they could all do some digging. But, that wasn't the only thing they had to keep in mind. They were also told that monsters had been more frequent in the area, and, as such, Elliot needed to be guarded. In order to make this all go as smoothly as possible, Hiro would keep his level as it was already, at 90. For the sake of keeping everybody safe, he would offer to be the main defense, while the others did the digging and searching. This would be how he wanted things to go, anyways.
Placing his foot on the beach, he removed his arm from his head, and began to look around. Just as he had thought, it was rather filled to the brim with people running around, looking for the pieces. As such, the monsters were sure to be in full force. Although, it didn't look like they were quite there yet, so they had a bit of time before things got hairy. Either way, he needed to make sure the others were as ready as they could be. "Alright, so here's how I'd like things to play out." Hiro began, turning a bit to face everybody present. "I'd like to ask if you guys be the ones searching for the artifact pieces, and I'll be the one playing vanguard. Make no mistake, I just want to make sure everybody's safe because, let's be real, some of the monsters here are actually kinda powerful." He stopped for a moment to look behind him, observing the coastline. "The most we'll likely see are Seagulls, but we can't be too careful. If you guys are cool with this, I feel like we could perform the best here as a result." Turning back, he finished his thought. "That sound alright with all of you? Just wanna make sure everybody stays alive."
He genuinely just wanted to safeguard the others, so that they could fulfill the mission at hand, and also make sure that they stay safe. Putting himself in the line of fire was probably the best way to do it, since the group consisted of mostly Level 9 and under members, save for himself. Sure, this made him look like a jerk, if one looked at it like he wanted to 'steal the spotlight' but his intention was to keep everybody alive. The more people they had alive for this mission, the better. Not to mention, it made getting back to the Sage together a hell of a lot easier, specifically due to the fact that nobody would've been separated from one another. Plus, this could be a good way for everybody to absorb some nice EXP from all his potential mass protection, as they were all in the same party at this point. Protect and serve, that's how Apocrypha does it. With all this in mind, mentally justifying himself, he turned his gaze back to the shoreline. Elliot would eventually start taking the Divining Rod out and looking around for places of interest, the others would follow him and make sure that hey gather the pieces quickly, and Hiro would play bodyguard from monsters, and possibly other players. This event, whatever it was, could turn ugly at a moment's notice, so Hiro would need to be diligent. He waited for the others to respond, before he'd move along with them.

OOC: Sweet new template, Hiro!
And yeah - we might need to skip Kaika? :X It might also be worth seeing if someone can pre-speed craft that item for us so we don't need to break for that.
| Sark dangled his legs, waiting on the porch of the The Gravesend Church. The Gravesend was a popular spot to meet because while the building tall, crumbling, and lichen-covered it was the only building around. At some point, something far in the past had destroyed the buildings for several blocks, completely flattening or blasting them away, with the un-harmed epicentre The Gravesent Church. Sark knew that had this been a game, that mysteries and rumours would have spouted from gamers in forums, and from NPCs in game about what the event might've been, or why the church was spared. Instead, the area was desolate. Sark had investigated it a few times in the past in the hopes of finding a quest, but so far his luck had not come out. So he continued to wait. His party members had seemed so excited to explore and help that he was surprised they had kept him waiting for so long at this easy to reach destination. As the minutes ticked by, Sark eventually remembered that he could find his party members. By focusing on his forehead he opened up the menu, and navigated to the party page. His eyes fixed on the first name, Elliot Grantham , who was already in the zone! Not looking at any others Sark cursed to himself for not realising sooner, and began a mad dash through the streets. The boy leapt dangerously over walls and clattered loudly down rubble, all the while rushing towards the Thames Coastline zone. There would be a barge to take him across, and then he'd be able to help. * Some time later he found his party. The dwarf leant heavily on Hiro, drawing loud, gasping breaths. Sweat dripped from his heavily as he half listened to Hiro explain the plan. "Yeah - yeah - oh - OK. Yeah." he panted. He staggered after Elliot, blind to the surrounds as he caught his breath. * Soon enough, Sark was feeling better. His shoes stank from the mud, and walking was difficult, but there was no sign of his previous exertions. As Elliot walked through the mudflats, Sark trailed behind him, with Hiro taking up the rear so he could respond to any threats. They had spent the last ten minutes moving to a less populated area, with the divining rod leading them ever more East and away from the safety of the barge. The land began to very gently slope upwards until they were walking through shallow ponds or dry, short bushes that crunched loudly underfoot. Sark stopped dead when he saw what was in front of him. "The wand is telling you to go down there, isn't it?" He said, with certainty in his voice. In front of them lay another shallow pond like so many before. However, in the exact centre of this one sat what seemed to be a perfect ring of earth, and within this ring was a bushy sinkhole leading under the earth. |
