Light flooded the vast halls and rooms of Westminster Abbey, the recently purchased and established guildhall of Noihara. With the large stone walls and wide open rooms, the cathedral truly felt like a castle. It was the perfect home for Noihara. On the ground level floor of the guildhall was a large library where the guild master Dumah had recently been spending a fair amount of his time. He had been sitting at a table, a large pile of several volumes of books before him, slowly shrinking as he quickly read a few pages of each book and then added it to a pile of books he no longer had an interest in due to lack of relevant information. As time went on and Dumah's patience grew thinner and thinner, he began to skim through each volume much quicker. Dumah shut closed the final book he had at his table, sighing and leaning back in his chair, exhausted and slightly upset at his fruitless search. "It was all a waste of time I suppose..." The guild master stood up and stretched, continuing his line of thought. "No, it was not entirely a waste. At least now I know we have no information regarding the dungeon..." Dumah looked out the large window into the garden, noticing the rising sun and the red sky. "Did I spend an entire night trying to research this dungeon...?" Dumah released a soft yawn and sighed, realizing the mess he had made in the library. "I wonder if I could hire a Maid... With my Courtesan subclass, perhaps I could get a discount." Dumah pondered the idea casually as he grabbed an arm full of tomes, returning them to the bookshelves from where he had taken them.
By the time the library had been returned to its neat order, Dumah pondered for a bit. "If we have no information of the dungeon on record, we will simply have to scout out the dungeon ourselves." Dumah began to walk around in an attempt to wake himself up, not wanting to be exhausted from his late work night in the library. He lightly slapped his cheeks on both sides of his face. Coffee. He needed coffee. It was early, only around six-thirty in the morning, and as Dumah could not scout the dungeon on his own, he knew he would need the help of his fellow Noihara guild members.
Dumah found himself in the tavern in Noihara's guildhall, greeted by an old friend washing glasses from behind the desk. "You're up early."
Dumah smiled and sat at the counter on one of the bar stools. "I believe you can only claim to be up early if you had fallen asleep the night before."
The tavern keeper put his hands on his hips, sighing. "Look Dumah, I'm sayin' this as a friend, not an employee: You need to stop pushing yourself so much. You're a guild master after all, and your guild owns the god damn Cathedral!"
"This is quite a peculiar lecture... It sounds more like praise."
"Let me finish... You're the guild master of a fairly prominent guild, if you push yourself too hard all the, you'll just burn out, and then what are your people going to do without their leader?"
Dumah smiled and chuckled softly. "It really feels like nothing has changed at all, does it not?"
Reminiscing a bit over their past, the tavern keeper started walking over to an assortment of foods. "So what'll it be today, Dumah?"
"Coffee, Hayao. Coffee."
The man smirked and sighed, preparing to get a bag of coffee beans for grinding up. "You never change, Dumah. I'm surprised you are still giving me weekly nicknames."
Both men smiled. "The tradition simply stuck with me, old friend."
As Dumah drank his coffee, feeling his second wind kick in, he began to plan out the expedition to scout this dungeon. He would need one person of each role in the Holy Trinity: DPS, a Tank, and a Healer. Being a Swashbuckler utilizing a Spellsword build, Dumah could fill the role of DPS. The party would also need a Scholar to record any info regarding the enemies in the dungeon. Luckily, the only Scholar who came to mind was Noihara's very own Katarina, a Cleric. Conveniently, this would let him kill two birds with one stone as she was not a Scholar, but a Cleric - a healing class - as well. The only role left to fill was the most difficult to decide upon: a Tank. Sark was a Samurai, though Dumah did not wish to drag the dwarf along on the expedition as he had been working poor Sark quite a lot as of late. Dumah looked through his friends list, noticing a Guardian: Byron. While a Guardian would serve as an excellent Tank in the party, he was only level one. Perhaps Dumah could help power level the Guardian, and later invite him into Noihara? If they were going to bring such a low leveled Tank along, they might want to bring another DPS. A ranged DPS with good mobility; only one man came to mind: Kuro, the only Assassin in Noihara. He preferred to fight from a distance, utilizing crossbows instead of daggers, the typical Assassin weapons.
Hours passed, it was around ten in the morning now, and as Katarina and Kuro awoke in their individual bedrooms, they found a note delivered to them, resting by their beds.
At noon, Dumah tried to call the Guardian Byron via Telepathy in order to extend an invitation to this party.

Byron had been up since dawn, as was usual for the Guardian-in-Training since the event that everyone named 'the Catastrophe', as he had nothing better to do than to train his riding skills atop his horse (whom he still had not picked out a name for yet) from the rising of the Sun until its descent into the West behind the hills. Every morning it was the same routine: wash up using the local well, eat a small breakfast of whatever fruit was ripe for picking from the trees, strap on his handy level-one armor, give the horse his ration of oats (or allow him to graze if he was already doing so), pack up their humble campsite (little more than a bedroll unless it was raining), saddle the horse, then climb atop his back and calmly walk through the streets of Londinium among the other trapped souls within. The streets were improving, however. Many of the buildings were still covered with growth and vines, but some of the more major buildings were cleared. Some that were purchased as homes even had a fresh coat of paint added to them and other decorations. The people themselves had also gone through a major boost to morale, it seemed. Most of them did, anyway. They smiled much more. They laughed much more. There was no more crying or slumping dismally in the streets anymore. Everyone had one thing or another to keep them preoccupied during the day now. Dancers showed off their moves as street performers who slowly paced along the sidewalks and captivated others into parting with their gold. Warriors, hunters, and animal trainers could be seen heading out to slay or capture monsters beyond Londinium's walls. Crafters stood on the streets crying out their wares, enticing people through their utility or fancy designs. Even chefs and brewers killed time by cooking up delicious recipes for all to enjoy... for a price, of course. All in all, it was a complete one-eighty from just a short while ago. Byron himself, clad in the shiny-green, yet plain plate-mail of a humble starter, wore an easy-going smile himself and always made it a point to wave at or greet those who passed him by. He found an easy and immersive way to cope was to actively adopt a persona much like the character he created would have. Recently, it was hard to act and not just simply do these mannerisms naturally, as if he really were becoming a chivalrous horseman. Currently he bowed his head to a female gardener who was trimming her Rose bush and unexpectedly received one in return. His narrow, fox-like eyes nearly popped open in surprise, but he retained his composure, accepted the rose, and wordlessly expressed his gratitude to her by smiling a bit deeper as he road past. Yes, there was certainly a giant improvement to the mood of this city now.
The duo made their way across town to their favorite training spot within the city: an old, abandoned Noble's mansion with a ruined old courtyard. The mansion itself was long deserted, possibly longer than the other buildings in the rest of the city had been before the coming of the Adventurers in the Catastrophe. It also seemed to have been targeted by a major attack. Not only were the building covered with moss and weeds, but some of the walls had been broken down and the roof caved in. Everything inside had long since been pillaged or turned to dust as well. However, it was not all bad. This place was a Cavalier's dream practice yard. Every aspect of this place could be exploited in order to train a mounted knight. As he pushed his mount on through the rusted iron gate that lay rotting on the cobblestones underneath, he calmly surveyed the landscape for a potential exercise activity.
"Well, horse, what shall it be today? Want to take a break and let me take a crack at some jousting?" His attention turned to the row of hideous gargoyle statues that lined the stone pathway that lead to the main entrance of the oversize house. "All right. Rule #1: the only way to earn points is to hit them in the torso or the head--go!"
He urged the young mount forward by firmly jabbing at its flanks with the stirrups. The beast lunged into motion. The horse quickened to a canter, from a canter to a trot, from a trot to a run. Byron found the balance training on horseback that he had made a point to get used to before anything else aided him immensely. He still had to grip the reins with his shield arm, but at least he wasn't immediately thrown off the creature (as was the case when he first started riding). He even had enough coordination to draw the spear out from where it was vertically tied to the horse's saddle just behind his right arm without looking (a handy habit to get into). He made sure to tuck the butt of the spear under his arm and conserve his strength until he was within range of the stone statue. The horse and rider charged the immobile target. It came closer, closer, until--bam! The spear-head was thrust out from underneath Byron's grip and struck it on the collarbone--taking a chunk of rock with it as he continued to push past the sculpted boulder. He slowed the horse and turned him about with a precise flick of the reins, then without comment aimed at another gargoyle that stood opposite of the one he just struck.
"We'll get it perfect in due time! Come, Horse!" The young shire gave a haughty snort meant for the statue (he hoped), and once more dashed toward it. And so it went for the next few hours. Their determination and the cries of the horse were enough to bring a small contingent of on-lookers. They were mostly young men and women just starting out like him, but they seemed to find watching a cavalier to be entertaining. Some sat on the wall and cheered them out while others merely watched. He had no reputation yet, but Byron knew that in time it might grow and that soon enough he might see a real crowd coming to watch him. It was... a bothersome notion to say the least. They had come to practice here in solitude. The last thing that they would need would be to become distracted! Maybe a suitable area could be found outside the city soon. He would have to go and see some day.
In any case, the duo went at the gargoyles until nearly noon. That was when they took their first real, long break of the day. He let the horse rest every quarter of an hour or so even during the regiment, but here his companion could actually recover for about an hour to eat and drink. He even allowed some of the youngsters (as he deemed to call them despite being the same level as they), to pet the mount. The horse certainly liked attention and it gave Byron the opportunity to eat as well. He laid back on the recently-mowed patch of grass that the horse grazed just yesterday and took a few bites from a piece of bread left over from yesterday, smiling tiredly but contentedly. That was when a familiar ring tickled the back of his mind. A sort of distant call trying to break through his psyche to gain his attention.
"A call? What do they call it now... Telepathy? But who could it be from...?" His gentle voice asked the question to no one in particular, so he just scrolled through his interface until he found the Telepathic Link tab and read the name of the call-sender with a whisper. "Sir Dumah of Noihara... Guildmaster... now what could he want with me?" He raised his right hand to his temple and mentally accepted the call. "Good day... what may I do for you, kind sir?"

"Ugh, I couldn't have asked for a room without a window, could I?" Kat groaned to herself groggily as she awoke to the sun shining through her window. As it turned out, Kat was not a morning person. Yawning slightly, Kat pushed herself away from her bed, looking out the now-hated window. Quite a few people had already gotten up, it seemed. 'Well, might as well join 'em.' she thought to herself as she went over to pick up her staff-
"A note?" Kat muttered as she spied a piece of paper lying at her bedside. Picking the note up, she spotted the unmistakably refined handwriting that she recognized as Dumah's. Her eyes widened as she read through the note. She was needed for an expedition? Well, it made sense she supposed. She was the only Scholar in the Vanguard Corps. In fact, she was pretty certain that she was the only Scholar in Noihara. Plus, she did hear some of the other guild members talking about raiding a dungeon a couple of days ago, so this scouting mission was pretty necessary.
Opening her menu, she navigated over to the "Messages" tab. Thinking for a while, she started to type. Happy with her message, she hit "Send". Now, how should she prepare?
'Well, there's always the obvious.' Kat thought to herself as she lazily threw on her armour and picked up her staff off of the floor. As an afterthought, Kat grabbed a pencil and a notepad out of her drawer. After all, they would need to record the information they gather. In Kat's eyes, she was ready to go. She really didn't give a damn about her appearance. Now, what else should she do? 'Dumah's probably already scoured the library for any and all information about the dungeon, so there's no point going there.' Kat thought as she closed the door to her room. 'Well, whatever, I may as well check around town, see if anyone knows anything about the dungeon we're meant to be scouting-'
Kat paused as she realised that Dumah never actually told her what dungeon they were meant to be going to.
"...Of bloody course he didn't!" Kat fumed, cursing out her Guildmaster. She sighed. Well, she may as well see the tavern keeper. The Lander had always been pretty close with Dumah, so maybe he told him.
Decided on a course of action, Kat walked down the many stairs of Noihara's new guildhall (she still couldn't believe that Dumah had managed to purchase the entire Cathedral) until she reached the tavern. She looked over at the Lander, who was currently scrubbing some glasses clean. "Even when you moved shop, you could never get rid of me." she mused, before breaking out into a grin. "Hello there."
The Person of the Land barked out a laugh. "Well, at least ya actually have a place to stay now! I was beginning to think that you'd be lodging at my tavern until ya went under!"
Kat chuckled. "I'm an adventurer, remember? I can't die, well, permanently that is. If Dumah didn't buy the Cathedral, I probably would be crashing with you until you died." Kat paused. She had come to ask him about the dungeon, but actually, there was an even better question that she could ask him. "Actually, speaking of Dumah, have you got any ideas where he's at?" The Lander laughed even harder at that. Kat sweatdropped as she realised the reason why.
"Nevermind. Please, forget I said that." she muttered as she moved away from the Lander and towards Dumah, who seemed to have long since finished his drink. She was about to greet him, before she realised that he was currently mid-call. From what she could gather, he was talking to one of the people he invited on his little expedition. Once he had finished his call, Kat spoke up. "Assuming that was someone we're going with?" she said, taking a seat near him. After he responded, Kat got to the main topic at hand. "Dumah, since I think it's probably somewhat important that I know this little piece of information, exactly what dungeon are we going to? Maybe it's just me that's out of the loop, but I think that's a pretty important piece of info."

Kuro was returning late from his usual midnight walk. (It has to be somewhat around 2 AM. I probably should cutting these short, or at least stop waking up after 3 hours of sleep.) When he went past the library he saw Dumah burried behind a "hill" of books, reading one book after another, like his life depended on it. He watched him for a while. (Well, he HAS been talking about a dungen raid he wanted to do. I guess he is gathering some information. Still, I think he should ease up a bit, or he is going to go crazy.) He then shook his head and proceeded towards his room. In his room he checked the state of his crossbow and armor. All things seemed to be in good shape so he went to bed.
After few hours he woke up to the sound of the closing doors. When the assassin looked around, he didn't see anybody. He checked his room if anything was missing, although he probably didn't have anything anyone would want, except his weapon, but that wasn't even that good. "God damn it!" He muttered to himself. (Even though nothing was stolen I still let my guard down!) His sight then fell upon a piece paper that wasn't there when he went to bed. (Oh, it's from Dumah) He was relieved, but still a bit angry at himself.
"Hmm, prepare ourselves.." He wasn't sure how'd he prepare himself. Kuro is usualy the "think-in-spot" kinda person, he didn't plan ahead most of the times so he wasn't sure what should he do. (I think I'm as prepared as I will be, well... I could try to finaly level up my Pharmacist subclass and make some healing items, but I don't think I will have time for that.) He stood there for another few minutes and then went back to bed for at least another hour. (Well, then the only way how I can prepare myself is to rest a bit.) Happy with his conclusion he fell asleep. __
He woke up later then he wanted, but it was still before noon. (Ok, I will go any excersize a littlebit and then I'll go search for Dumah about additional info about the dungeon)
Before going to the barracks he went to the "tavern" to have a quick breakfast. After changing into some regular clothes, he went to the barracks. He was pleasantly surprised when there wasn't anyone in the barracks at the moment. He didn't like to train when people might be watching and so he usualy stuck to improving his aim. But when there was noone around he also trained his physical from and "parkour skills" together with some close-range combat. The reason why he didn't like for anyone to around for that is, that all the technigues he used were made up by him, and in his head they looked silly, but might work in battle. For the parkour there was an obvious reason. He wasn't exactly jumping from wall to wall like a maniac, but there was quite a bit of jumping involved. When he was finished he looked like he just swam in a river, so he washed up a bit and then, in his regular clothes now, he went on to find Dumah.
Turned out he didn't have to go far as Dumah was "at the bar" with Kat. (Well that's no surprise as we will need a healer. I will be surprised if she wouldn't be going.. or he wouldn't... nevermind.) He thought of scarring 'em, but changed his mind. (It would be too repetative right now. I have to stop for a while, and then I'll return stronger, scarrier and sneakier, than they could possibly imagine!) He grinned and joined them as Kat was asking the question that was also bugging Kuro: "Which dungeon?" "Yea, I'd also kinda like to know that." _________________________________________________________ [Word count: 651 Note: Sorry for the wait. Stuff happened. :/ ]

It was a rather long night in the library for Kain. He had been doing some research in the Noihara guild library on some new writings he had found in an attempt to decode them. Even Noctis was stumped on their nature, which was odd considering he was an ancient sage that now dwelled within the back reaches of Kain's mind. After piling up enough books to essentially isolate them visually from the rest of the world, they had at least begun to decipher the strange language inscribed upon the tome.
"What the hell is the deal with this thing anyway? We've managed to decode a bit of it, but its grammar and sentence composition doesn't adhere to any form of language."
"Maybe we are decoding it wrong. Maybe we need to use a different cipher."
"I don't know about you, but I really don't feel like sorting through a thousand more books in search of a new matching cipher, and until you manage to make yourself corporeal, which I not only see coming no time soon, but also am highly against until you learn to mind yourself around women better, we will not be able to split up research duty."
"Maybe its a hieroglyphic language that is also encoded?"
Kain pondered this new idea for a moment. It made sense enough. Even in a pictoral based language, someone may want to keep secrets hidden. Thus they would likely devise some sort of cipher, possibly hidden within the sentences themselves. It was worth as much a try as any of the other plans they had thus far attempted. Thus began a process of trial and error, searching for any one small detail that may trigger the unraveling of the secret code.
Suddenly, it clicked. Some of the masculine terms had been swapped for feminine terms, a few specific gender-based iconographs had been warped or switched. Suddenly it all began making sense, it felt almost like it was writing itself. It was a breakthrough and it was beautiful! he began making actual progress that he almost yelped in joy! But it was the sudden THWACK of a book closing near-by within the library that startled him, causing him to shoot up in his chair and knock into the stack of books surrounding him. With a quick panic, the castle off grimoires built up around him came collapsing down like the walls of Jericho.
Popping up out of the now massive pile, the heretic let out a sigh. It would take a while to clean up this mess and get his notes back from the bottom of it, wherever they were now. Climbing out of it, he began the process of picking up the books, piling them in his arms, and making sizable stacks for him to put back where they belonged. After claiming back his notes and putting the items back into his inventory, he picked up a stack of books and began lugging them around back to where they went within the room. As he was perusing the shelves for the home locations of the tomes, he overheard Dumah complaining about something regarding a dungeon. He didn't catch all of the swashbuckler's words, but he could tell that his new guild leader was in a little bit of a bind, at least with members to go searching with, as well as information regarding the dungeon.
Being in a similar boat himself, Kain's ears perked up slightly, but he continued going about his business until the swashbuckler just so happened to walk off muttering something about coffee and leave his research unattended. Kain wasn't necessarily a nosy person per say, but he did know when his curiosity was peaked, and generally couldn't help his bad habit of needing to learn some things first hand. Sure enough, the notes Dumah had jotted down were fairly spotty, and nothing of substantial value was there, just the usual cryptic chicken scratch of someone trying to work out their thoughts on paper.
Kain definitely considered his interest peaked however, and decided he would shoot the guildmaster a pm in the morning. Best to let him sit on it after all, he didn't want to seem like he was being invasive.
-
Sure enough, in the morning Kain sent his message and got a rather quick and enthusiastic response. The enthusiasm he was definitely prepared for; whether a positive or a negative, he had yet to see Dumah make any kind of move that would make himself seem unaprochable or bothered. The approval though, he was rather happy about and shocked. He definitely didn't think such a thing would happen so quickly, and began to gather together some scribing materials, as well as his heretic gear. He quickly threw a pm in Dumah's direction indicating he was getting ready and would meet up when he could, that the group could go ahead and get started without him. Seeing as how the group had no idea what they were up against, Kain figured it best to pack the essentials, as well as some possible extras just in case.

Riiing, riiing, riiing... Dumah sighed as his call to Byron went unanswered. Out of habit, after hearing the beep signalling that the call had ended, Dumah began to speak. "Hello, Byron. This is Dumah Iino, guild master of Noihara. I was hoping to reach you to invite you to a small dungeon scouting expedition and it really does not matter because this telepathy does not record voice mails why am I still talking...?" Feeling like an idiot, Dumah slapped his palm on his forehead, grabbing the top of his skull, slightly shaking his head with a sigh at his own stupidity. Thankfully, no one had heard him. After hanging up, he noticed a little icon in the corner of his menu, with a chibi image of Katarina. He tapped it, and a message popped up.
"Got your note. Question: who else is coming on this expedition? It's not a problem; I'm merely curious. Either way, you can count me in."
Dumah spoke, allowing the voice to text function of the telepathy system to do the work for him as he spoke out his reply to Katarina's question.
"All right, I'm glad to hear you will be joining us. Thus far, the party consists of you, Kuro, Corvo, and myself. I have been trying to get in touch with Byron, an acquaintance of mine who is a Guardian. He is still level one, but I believe if we had him join us and we helped him gain some levels, it would leave a great first impression on him. Active Guardians with a tank build have been surprisingly rare as of late."
Right as Dumah's message processed and was sent, his own icon appeared, and the Swashbuckler groaned again, feeling rather stupid. He kept intending to change the icon to a better screenshot of himself, or perhaps the Noiharan emblem, but he never found the time and he just kept pushing it off and procrastinating. It is usually the smallest things that get forgotten... With a bit of dread in his voice, he lamented his fading dignity. "Well this day is just off to a grand start..."
"Assuming-?" Geeze! Dumah jumped slightly as he spun around, wondering who had witnessed his epic blunders. It was Katarina, the very person he had just finished sending a reply to. He regained his composure, clearing his throat and standing straight again as he was before the girl had snuck up behind him. She finished her sentence, guessing that Dumah was trying to reach someone joining the party - however, the PING! and the embarrassing icon that appeared answered her question for him. Moving past the first question, her next was a good one - one even Dumah did not know the answer to.
"To be honest, it would seem this dungeon is untouched. I could find no information on it, and nobody seems to have any information about it, not even the local People of The Land. It is known as the Tomb of The Lost Brigade. Judging by the name, I suspect we will encounter undead." Almost out of nowhere, Kuro had joined the group. Dumah had gotten rather used to his sudden appearances and disappearances already, and so he did not jump into an instinctual near-combat stance like he had with Katarina. Kat patiently waited for Dumah to respond, focusing her attention wholly on the Swashbuckler. She soon came to regret that as Kuro suddenly appeared out of no where, asking where the dungeon was. Kat shot out of her chair with a yelp, glaring daggers into Kuro. 'Why is this a thing!? Why has this of all things become a thing!? Why do you love scaring me so!?' she thought angrily, a bit peeved at the fact that she had yet again failed to spot a suspiciously cloaked figure in the middle of a brightly lit room that only had the three of them and a Lander in it. God knows how he manages to do that. Dumah didn't seem to share her rather extreme reaction, simply ignoring the Assassin's intrusion and carrying on answering Kat's question. Apparently, the dungeon was unexplored, a fact that piqued Kat's interest quite a bit. They had been stuck in the game for god knows how long, and no one had found and explored this place? Well, she supposed that someone must've found it, after all Dumah was here talking to her about it, but still. Well, who knows, maybe Dumah managed to just find it randomly when he was out exploring. Kat shook her head. Doubtful. If it was that easy to find, then someone else would've found it by now. Well, whatever, she was sure that Dumah would explain that all in time. He went on to say that the dungeon in question was named the "Tomb of The Lost Brigade", and that it'd most likely contain undead.
Kat nodded. "With a name like that, 'Undead' sounds about right. Well, either undead or spirits. Probably both. I don't recognize that term though, 'The Lost Brigade'?" She was pretty familiar with Elder Tale's lore, so she assumed it must be a plotline made for the expansion, because she couldn't think of any time she'd heard or even seen the phrase "Lost Brigade" before. "I assume that you've already looked through the library for anything and everything related to that name, so I won't push you on that front. But, and I have to ask, where's the actual dungeon located? I assume you know at least that much."

After Kuro's aperance Kat launched off her chair, like he intented to visit the moon, while Dumah simply ignored him. Kat kept lookin' at Kuro for a while, on which he reacted with raising one eyebrow. After she "stared him to death" long enough, she again focused on Dumah again. Kuro muttered quietly to make sure Kat hears him. "It's not my fault, you are such a puss." (That's acctualy quite fitting, when you think 'bout it. Her name does indeed say "Kat".) She either didn't hear it, or simply ignored him. The assassin then also focused on Dumah, grabbing a nearby chair and sitting on it. From what Dumah told them, it would seem that this dungeon is new, or something, because nobody knows almost anything about it. They only knew the name: "The Tomb of the Lost Brigade". Dumah shared his conclusion that there will probably be undead, judging by the name. (Yea. That, I think, is undeniable, like what else could it be for god sake.) Kuro noticed a dropped knife on the ground. He picked it up and started "spinning" it, in between his fingers. (I used to do this all the time with a pen, when I was bored in school.)Katarina also agreed with that and then concluded that there will probably be ghosts along with regular undead creatures. She also mentioned something about not knowing "The Lost Brigade". (It's not like you could or even should know every god damn thing...) She then continued in her train of thoughts by excluding going to the library, as Dumah probably already searched through anything useful. "Yea, I saw you at like 2 AM and you were burried in books. Did you even go to sleep?" Kat continued, ingoring the interruption, with a question of at least the location of the dungeon. Kuro grinned. "Well I hope so, or it'd be pretty useless to create an expeditionary party, if the party didn't know where to go." Whilist saying that, he threw the knife in the air in a spinning motion and then caught it by the blade, afterwards he handed it over to the Lander. "I also wanted to ask, why exactly do you need me? Of course he was a little late, Kain always was. He had learned long ago that his tendency tended to bother others, but thanks to this new worlds helpful little functions such as the messaging system, at least he was always able to let them know. He made his way up to the meeting place, still making sure his bag had all of the materials he would need to chart out the dungeon.
Upon approaching the group, there were two faces he hadn't seen before. One was an assassin who seemed to be pretty laid back. Kain definitely noted the penchant for knives though, and the crossbow strapped to him. It was definitely an interesting choice of armament, especially considering the only other assassin he had met so far had been the purple one, Sayha if he remembered correctly.
The other person joining the guild leader was a small foxtail. Judging by her gear, she also appeared to be a cleric by the looks of her gear. He definitely had to admit that it felt nice finally having an official healer on a journey. His past few had been pockmarked with more of makeshift sawbones and quacks than actual medics, himself included in that list. He gave a small mental sigh of relief, as he would most likely only have to focus on mapping out the area.
He managed to catch the end part of the most recent question as he made his way up, something about undead and a lost brigade. The lost brigade part was new, but the undead part was interesting. Undead generally reacted interestingly when it came to miasma, much like some of the lesser entities within the miasma realm if you hit the right area. Who knows, maybe he could help disguise all of them if it came down to it.
He greeted them all as he processed the information and let the speaker finish. "Sorry for being a little late to the party." He would give a small smile with his stitched up mouth before turning to the two people he hadn't met yet. "I'm Noctis, Noctis Corvo. I'll be accompanying you all in order to map out and record the details of the dungeon for future record."

Kuro frightened Katarina as usual, and in her typical response, she shot a piercing glare at the Assassin and Kuro muttered under his breath, accusing Kat of being a coward. Dumah sighed, it had felt as if he was the father of two siblings who always fought and bickered, finding the most idiotic things to disagree on. "Kuro, don't be rude. She is your guild mate, we should all respect one another. Besides, don't forget: you are going to be relying on her heals tonight." There were some times when Dumah regretted investing his points into the Hearing Aptitude skill. This sibling rivalry of sorts was one such example. After the quarrel was resolved, Kat asked a good question, one regarding the exact location of the dungeon. "The dungeon is located in a clearing near the Thames Coastline. It is about a day's travel from Londinium." As he finished speaking, the bar keeper spoke up, answering Kuro's question. "Your guild master here didn't get a wink of sleep last night, so you'll all wanna make sure he doesn't put his legs on autopilot and accidentally walk off a cliff or somethin'." Dumah gestured a bit. "Do not worry, I will be fine." Playing around with a knife before handing it to Hayao, Kuro seemed curious as to why he was needed. As he caught the knife, the feeling was unanimous: 'Show off...' "As we do not have a dedicated Tank I will be serving as the off Tank. I might not be able to deal enough damage if I am constantly dodging and evading attacks, so you will and Corvo will be serving as additional DPS should we need it." Coincidentally, the patchwork man joined the group right as his name was uttered. Corvo apologized for being late, smiling and introducing himself. Dumah put a hand on the Heretic's shoulder. "Everyone, Corvo will be joining us for extra DPS and to map out the Dungeon. He is a Heretic and a Scribe, meaning he will be in the back of the party formation along with Katarina should anything go wrong. Ideally, we will not need to enter combat, but if so, he will be acting as ranged magical DPS." With that, the whole party was here. Dumah, serving as party leader and off Tank; Katarina, recording information regarding the enemies and serving as healing Support; Kuro, serving as melee DPS with his crossbow whenever ranged DPS is also necessary; Noctis Corvo, serving as the party's Magic DPS while also mapping the rooms and corridors of the dungeon. "All right, everyone is here, let's go."

The party left through the large stone entrance of the Cathedral, out into the city of Londinium. Spirits were high, and the city seemed quite lively, though Dumah was not sure for what. There was always the occasional festival and celebration, and this upcoming festivity was anyone's guess. Adventurers and People of The Land alike were placing decorations around the city. Bards played music, all kinds of people did little street performances, from Sorcerers displaying their precision, to Dancers simply dancing to a Bard's tune. Dumah smiled a bit, seeing the town so active. The party soon reached the gate leading out into the Wilderness, and they ventured out. "It is a nice day out..." Dumah stated, noticing the cooling zephyr and the warm air. They walked along a path of packed dirt, and occasionally the party would pass by another party of Adventurers, or a caravan of People of The Land. Late into the trip, the party passed a Cleric clad in full plate mail, holding his helmet at his side, letting his messy blonde hair show itself. The man had a cool, natural look to his face, and it almost seemed as though he were glaring at Dumah. On second thought, the man looked a bit familiar, but he could not place his finger on it. The man passed, and the group continued on.

After Kat asked if Dumah knew where the dungeon was located, Kuro butted in with a snide remark. It was at this point when Kat started to ponder whether or not she was a bad influence on the Assassin. She didn't really need to ponder long. She already knew that she was a terrible influence on the man. Either way, back to the topic at hand, Dumah informed her that the dungeon was on the Thames Coastline, an area to the east of Londinium and about a day away from their current location. Kat processed the information, nodding to herself. The location of the dungeon answered many of Kat's questions. The coastline was one of the regions in the game that wasn't fully explored yet, with many new islands being found and explored every month. The idea of a brand new dungeon being found out there didn't seem that unlikely, even after all the time they've spent trapped in the game. "Well, that pretty much answers all of my questions." she said, facing the two men. Well, one man and one boy; one look at the blonde-haired Assassin happily chucking a knife into the air without a care in the world could tell you which one was which.
Once he had finished showing off, he turned and asked Dumah why he was invited along for the expedition, considering the fact that Dumah had already formed the holy trinity. Well, that said, they didn't have a dedicated Tank, but Dumah was more than capable of filling in for that role. Kat paused. "Actually, that's a fair question. I'd understand having an extra DPS if we were trying to clear the dungeon, but this is a scouting mission; we're not trying to aggro any monsters. Why is he coming along?" she asked, looking quizzically at her guild master. Dumah began to explain himself, stating that, while he's going to be serving as the party's off-Tank, he may not be able to deal enough damage if he's constantly dodging, so Kuro was there to support the other DPS and fill in the damage gap. "Alright, that makes sense to me." she nodded. She still hadn't met the other DPS yet, actually, thinking about it, she didn't even know his class yet. "So, have you got any idea when we're going to meet our other DPS-"
"Nevermind, I got it..." she muttered under her breath as she saw the "Corvo" in question enter the room. 'Speak of the devil, and he doth appear.' He seemed... well, she wasn't going to hide it, he was somewhat creepy, his stitched up mouth and patchwork skin being somewhat off-putting to Kat. 'And I thought I had it bad with my avatar, compared to him, my tail is nothing.' she thought to herself, looking down at her purple tail, which was for once staying still and not beating every object around it. Smiling softly, the man introduced himself as "Noctis Corvo", going on to say that he'd be coming along to help map out the dungeon. 'So, a fellow Scribe then.' she thought, looking the man over again.
Kat visibly relaxed as she got over the initial shock of the patchwork man's appearance. She grinned at the man. "Katarina Summers. Nice to meet you." she said, throwing in her IRL last name. He gave her a last name; she figured it was only polite to do the same. Granted, she doubted his last name was actually "Corvo", but that's just a technicality. "The show-off over there is Kuro." she continued, jabbing a finger in the Assassin's general direction. She didn't even bother throwing on the shy act; after all, the guy was already coming along with them, there's no real reason to try and get him to like her. Plus, well, one of the major reasons she liked Noihara was because it was one of the places she didn't need to put on the act. She could just be her snarky, sarcastic self and no one would care.
...Kat started to wonder why exactly she was trying to justify not lying to someone about her personality. Dumah put his hand on Corvo's shoulder, explaining his role. He's, as expected, additional DPS, and not as expected, also there to help map out the dungeon. He's both a Heretic and, as Kat theorised, a scribe, meaning he'd be staying near Kat at the back of the formation. "Fine by me." she said, looking at the patchwork man. God knows how, but she'd never actually seen a Heritic in Elder Tale yet, and she was interested to see how it turned out. Plus, they were going into a dungeon filled with undead; Corvo's ability to wield Miasma could help here.
Since the group had formed up, Dumah gave the command to move out. Kat nodded. "Alrighty then; lead the way."
It took them the entire day, but eventually they made it to their location. Kat glanced at a small podium in the middle of the clearing, and sighed as she read it. Pleadingly, she looked over to Dumah. "Please don't tell me we have to solve a riddle to get in here, I hate riddles and riddles hate me, we hate each other mutually." She was smart, yes, but riddles were most definitely not her thing. She begged for the internet, but, alas, GameFAQS did not suddenly pop up in her menu. Oh well, riddle time it is then.
She thought about the inscription for a second. Her first thought was "Death"; it seemed to fit. "It could come when one is young or old - the signs always show". Plus, if the dungeon did contain undead, then it would make sense. She shook her head. No, that wasn't it, that didn't fit in with the first line. Wait, even if they got the answer, how would they know if they got it correct? How would they input the answer? Would they just say it out loud, and it would work, or what? Did they even need to solve it, or is it just there as a hint for something in the dungeon? She sighed. "Well, damn. I got nothing." she admitted sheepishly. "Riddles are not my forte. And Kuro, if you say anything here, Ima stab you through the eye."[Word Count: 1049 Word Count w/mentor: 1311 Tags: @dumah @kurosan Noctis Corvo apparently KomuNotes: Riddles are my worst enemy how dare you make me face my worst enemy is "smashing the podium" an option I would like to choose that option thank you and goodbye.]

Dumah told them that from Londinium to the dungeon it is a day-long trip to the east on the Thames Coastline, which explained why they have so little information about it, as that area was not fully explored yet. Kat replied that she has no more questions and then stared "judgingly" at Kuro for some reason. (Maybe she can't do simple "tricks" with knifes and/or pens.) After which he threw the knife in the air. After Kuro asked his question about the reason why he is needed Kat also started to wonder why was he goin', making good points. Although Kuro really had to control himself not to say something along the lines 'You hate me so much, you don't want me to go?'.Dumah reasoned his decision to bring Kuro, by stating he'd be an off-tank and would probably not be able to deal enough damage, so the Assassin and one other DPS would fill in the "gap". Both Kat and Kuro thought that, that is a good reason. (I wonder who the other DPS is.) It seemed that Kuro wasn't the onlyone who was wandering about that, seeing that Kat was asking about the other DPS at the same time. Although she stopped mid-through her sentence when the "asked-about-DPS" showed up. Kuro was surprised by the apereance of the person. He looked more like a mob or some small dungeon boss, but after the initial little "shock", the Assassin made up his mind about the apereance. (Damn... that's cool.... although it can probably be pretty annoying to be in such a... condition. Not sure if he is looking more like a zombie, or a scarecrow...) The DPS was... well, he was stiched up a lot, including the sides of his mouth. It also seemed he liked the colour black. (I like his style.) The assassin smiled. The smile turned to grin when he looked at Kat who seemed to be more shocked by the arrival's apereance, looking alternately at the arrival and her tail. (I guess I should be realy glad I created somwhat "normal" chracter... I don't know what I would do with extra body-parts...) She shook it off after few seconds. The arrival politely introduced by the name of 'Noctis Corvo' and said he was asked to join them to help them out with mapping the dungeon. Kat then took the iniciative and introduced herself... and Kuro, but that was not without a remark about him being a show-off. "You know, I can introduce myself... also it is not my point to show off, I was just bored...-ish."Kuro was suprised a little-bit that Kat did not use her act, but after a second thought, he'd probably find out realy soon, so what would be the point of hiding it. After the introductions, Dumah instructed them on how they shall proceed in the dungeon. When everyone was familiar with the plan, they set off to the dungeon. __________________________________ They arrived to the location at nightfall. They were in front of a small podium with an inscribed passage. Kat seemed to be very displeased that there is a riddle, she made it evident that riddle's and her had a mutual past of hate. After moments of hard thinking she gave up, saying that she has nothing. Kuro also wasn't the best at riddles, but he didn't want to get her "away" with this so easily: "I'm very surprised tha-" Well at least he ment to, until Kat threatend him with stabbing him through the eye. The assassin was silent for a moment and then to top it off he wrote her a message while grinning: 'Well if I can't say anything, then I will at least write you that, that was odly specific. :D' Before she could proceed to complete her threat he continued with: "But I also have no idea what it could be. The only thing I can come up with is "death" but that doesn't fit with the first line!"__________________________________ [Word count: 667 Tags: @dumah @bornfromvelvet Noctis Corvo ? Komu?]

Kain smiled as the rest of the group introduced themselves. he found the little banter between the two rather charming, and strangely distant yet familiar to him. Nonetheless, the group appeared rather ready to head out, and as such, he followed along to the ruins.
Upon reaching the ruins, Kain ran his hands carefully along the stone pillars, taking in all of the tiny details of their construction. He loved locations like this, the way that they displayed both creation and destruction. He pulled out a journal and began recording in detail the look of the entryway. He took note of the ruins and the surrounding countryside. He was no artisan, but thanks to a small glitch he had found in the [Transcribe] Skill, he found that he could "transcribe" in great detail a scientific sketch of the area. Finishing his sketches after wandering around,he pulled out a large sheet he had saved for the map. He transcribed the location of the entrance, and began a rather simple yet artistic map detailing the entrance and its location relative to the town and countryside. Finishing up with it, he rolled it up and placed it within his magic bag before hearing his teammates call over from the entrance to the system. Upon approaching, he once again withdrew his journal before transcribing an image and the text of this strange plaque and intricate entrance into his journal. He personally had always loved riddles and such, and was a bit enthusastic once they showed it to him. He read it over himself, letting each word roll around in his mouth as his mind contemplated their meaning. " Hmm. The answer lies in the ground and in the sky... all fear the path, and escape it they try... taking what is not its own, and when no one knows... it could come when one is young or old... the signs always show..." strangely enough he pulled out a small pair of reading glasses. He didn't need them, but they were an old habit from back in the old world when he did. He thought about the words, tapping his quill on the paper as he thought. The young assassin spoke up his idea, voicing that it might be death. It was actually a rather good guess. " You might be closer than you think Kuro. Death actually might fit, as the body is in the ground, the soul in many religions is perceived as rising towards the sky. Not only that, but it can come anywhere, everyone is susceptible, everyone fears it and many have tried to explained it, and it definitely always shows." He thought on it a bit himself. It was definitely a good guess, and it just might be the right one. "The only other answer I could see would be Fate." Tags: @dumah @kurosan @bornfromvelvet Komu

The party began to contemplate and discuss the possible answers to the riddle before them. It seemed as though Kat was one to particularly loathe riddles, and she seemed to withhold her own theory as to the answer. Despite this, the growing belief seemed to be that the answer was Death. It made sense at least, and Corvo made sure to explain how it would fit in with all of the lines and descriptions of the riddle. Dumah stepped forward towards the plaque, and a window popped up in his UI asking for him to input an answer. He tapped at the blank bar reserved for the answer, and spoke the simple word. "Death."
After giving his answer, the text entry window closed itself, and the entire party could feel the ground begin to shake lightly as the ground before them fell to form a stone staircase. "Good work, everyone." It was pitch black inside the dungeon, the faint moonlight only allowing the party to see about two meters down the flight of stone stairs. Dumah accessed his menu, tapping at the air as he navigated to his list of skills, activating his Magic Light spell. The wisp spawned beside its master at about face height, shining its bright beam of illumination down the entrance. The stairs went on for quite a while, the entire walk down lasting about ten minutes before leading to a gargantuan underground area, with an immense opening in the center of the structure reaching all the way from the floor of the lowest level to the ceiling of the highest. Wrapped around the walls of the massive opening were several corridors and archways giving clear sight into the vast room from nearly any point of the dungeon. Being so large, it was hard to see to the other end of the dungeon, and Dumah's Magic Light had no hopes of coming close to revealing the opposite side.
After taking in the magnificence of such a colossal catacomb, the party soon found themselves being surrounded by many Black Slimes. Their levels varied: twenty-three, twenty-five, twenty-nine, thirty-one... At least two of each. Dumah looked over at the back line of the party's combat formation. "Katarina! Corvo! Slimes are drawn to magic, so be careful and manage your casting output!" A ball of fire spawned in the self proclaimed Spellsword's left hand as he cast his Fireball Pitch spell, drawing the slimes' attention to himself so he could Tank. Words: 411 | Total Words: 2680

Kat sighed as she saw Kuro's face pop up in her menu, with a teasing message attached to it. Leave it to him to find loopholes in empty threats. 'Damn Kuro, what happened to the emo loner I met at the beginning? Is my constant snark rubbing off on you?' The blonde man, probably aware of the verbal thrashing he'd get if he let Kat get a word in, continued on to mention that he had no idea what the answer was, since "Death" didn't fit the description. Kat nodded. "Actually, I came to the same conclusion. Death doesn't seem to fit in with the first line at all." The Fox Tail turned to face Noctis, who had put on some reading glasses and was currently muttering the lines of the riddle to himself, deep in thought. Turning to face Kuro, the patchwork man brought up the fact that Death could actually fit, as various religions generally depict the soul rising towards the sky. Kat paused. She didn't think about that. Religion was never really a subject that Kat ever thought about, being an atheist herself. Now that she thought about it though, if the creator of the riddle was a religious man, saying death was in the sky made perfect sense, well, as long as they counted the soul being in the afterlife as "Death", which they probably did.
Noctis went on to explain how Death fit in with the rest of the riddle, Kat nodding along with each point listed. It made sense. He went on to offer an alternative solution to the riddle, "Fate". "'Fate', huh?" Kat paused to think about the new suggestion, taking care not to miss any obvious details like she did with the first one. How would fate fit in with the first line? 'Some people believe that your star signs can correlate with things such as peoples emotions, behaviours, and, lo and behold, their fate, so that's the "sky" part. In terms of the ground though...' She had no idea how the ground could link to fate, however she supposed if someone really stretched the definition of fate, they could link it back to religion. The second line was a no-brainer; there was so many stories about people trying to defy their fate that it has practically become a trope. The rest of the lines though... "Taking what is not its own and when no one knows", "It could come when one is young or old - the signs always show"...
Kat shook her head. "I could be wrong here, but I'm not so certain that the answer is fate. Sure, it kinda fits, but you need to stretch out the definitions of fate and twist the lines of the riddle in such a way that it just seems unlikely it'd be it." she stated. "With everything you said before though, "Death" seems to be looking more and more likely to be the solution." With the party decided on an answer, Kat turned to face Dumah, who was already walking up to the podium. Clearly speaking out the group's answer, Kat watched as the ground before them started to shake and fall, forming a neat stone staircase. "Well... I suppose this is it, then." Kat muttered to herself, quickly scrawling down the word "Death" onto a scrap of paper. She doubted the dungeon would stay open forever after all; they'd need it for next time. Dumah gave the group a quick congratulations, turning to face the newly formed entrance and started to walk towards it, the rest of the advance party following behind him. As it turned out, dungeons buried deep underground happened to be quite dark, Kat barely being able to see the ground in front of her. Thankfully, Dumah had Magic Light ready, giving the party the sweet, sweet gift of sight. Kat paused as she realised, even with the light, she still couldn't see the bottom of the staircase. 'This is gonna take a while...' she thought to herself, sighing.
Luckily, it wasn't nearly as bad as she thought it would be, although it still took a good ten minutes. Kat glanced around the massive underground area, before starting to jot down a quick map of the room they were in, periodically looking up to see if she had missed any details. She wasn't an artist; but simple maps were easy as pie. Happy with what she had down, she looked up to find herself facing a few Slimes. She jumped as she realised their current situation; they were surrounded. Taking a few steps backward, Kat's eyes danced across the dungeon floor. Their levels seemed to range from 23-31; a fair amount higher than Kat, Kuro and Noctis. It was moments like this that made Kat glad that Dumah was the one tanking. Glancing to Kat and Noctis, Dumah quickly warned them to limit their magic use, as slimes were attracted to mana. Directly after, he flung a fireball at the Slimes, dragging their attention away from the rest of the party. 'I need to limit my mana usage,' she thought to herself, glancing at Dumah's HP bar. 'There's no way I could keep it completely full; that would drag to much attention. I think I should be able to keep him above half without a problem however.' She turned to face the blonde Assassin, staring at his level. 'He's not going to last if he takes too many hits; I won't be able to just spam heal the guy, that'd again drag too much attention. I'm just going to have to trust him not to take too many hits.' She paused as she remembered the last time they fought together. She sweatdropped. 'That cocky sod is so totally going to die today.'

After Kuro shared and disclaimed his idea of the answer being "Death", Noctis replyed that it might acctualy be "Death". He gave them a "lecture" about cultures and stuff about sould and "heaven and hell" sort of things, which (suprisingly) made sence. Noctis also mentioned it could also be "fate", but since it didn't fit as well, the group decided to go with "Death". After Dumah "entered" their solution the ground started to shake. For a second there, Kuro thought they answered incorrectly, but after few moments a staricase started to from in front of them. Kat muttered something to her and wrote something in her note. Following the appearance of the staircase, the party went in. It was unbelivebly dark inside, which was obvious as it is a dungeon and it is UNDERGROUND, but still it was annoying and he didn't see a step ahead. Fortunately for Kuro (and everyone else) Dumah had a Magic Light ready and provided them some light, so they wouldn't all fall down and (probably) get hurt. After few minutes they arrived at the bottom of the stairs. The room they were in had to be HUGE, as Dumah's light did not provide enough light for them to see even the walls. (Damn, that is one large toomb...) Kuro sudenly heard some wierd slushy sounds and when he looked around he found out they got surrouned by a LOT of Black Slimes. They were all higher levels then most of them, which wasn't so unusual for Kuro, but only when the enemies were in small numbers. Dumah shouted at Kat and Noctis to keep their magic output at check, because slimes are drawn to magic. He looked at his Guild-mates. When his eyes fell uppon Kat he noticed she was looking at him and it was obvious what was she thinking. (The last time we were hunting together I almost got killed, I was really reckless and wanted to show-off, but this time I really CAN'T afford doing anything that dumb. Although if it will come to it, I will gladly sacrifice myself for the survival of the other party-members.) He winked at her and used his {Trinket Work} ability while loading one of his bolts into his crossbow. (I really can't afford to draw much attention...hmmm... I could put more aggro on Dumah by using the Dimensional Shot ability and making the bolt shoot from his position.) After few seconds of thinking about it he decided not to do that. (He is tanking, but he isn't a Tank, he'll have enough trouble by himself.) Kuro also used his {Death Stinger} and {Athropy Break} abilities on his bolt, so he would "stop" one for few moments while also chipping down his health. After making such preparations he aimed at the closest enemy (level 24) and fired his shot. _____________________________________________________________________________________ [Word count: 475 Tags: @bornfromvelvet @dumah Noctis Corvo Note: Sorry that it is sh*tty and all. :/ ]

As it turned out, Death was actually the correct answer to the riddle. With a deep, earthen groan the rock slab that stood in as the door moved slowly open to reveal a long stairway leading deep into the heart of Gaia. Dumah had decided to cast magic light, but Kain, seeing as how he was lacking in such areas, decided instead to opt for lighting and carrying one of the torches down into the abyss. It was a rather long walk with a whole lot of nothing. No one said any words, just trodding down the moss-covered stone steps. Even as a game though, this halway alone was impressive. It seemed almost carved out of the countryside, the stone steps being seamless minus the cracks that could only be considered obligatory with ages upon ages of thermal expansion, natural erosion, and general wear-and-tear. The deeper they got, the more stale the air became. It no longer felt like their own, but it felt like they were breathing the last breaths of a corpse that made its way down eons ago.
Kain only considered it luck that the torch also proved alive and well. Even though the air was stale, the torch still burned brightly, a long trail of smoke leading back out the way they came. It made him happy that at least the tunnel was sturdy and hadn't collapsed, and wasn't trapped in such a way as to seal them in after they made their way deep enough. Occasionally he would stop for a moment, make a few notes as to the length of the initial staircase on the map, and then catch back up to the rest of the group.
Their initial entrance into the open ward was intimidating to say the least. In the darkness that lay around them, the path they had currently found themselves upon wrapped upwards an unknown amount of times towards the darkest heavens, and down to the very depths of Tartarus. Not even the other side of this massive opening could be seen with what little light they managed to conjure up. Setting down his torch, Kain used Mythic Script to mark the doorway they had just come through as the exit back towards the surface, giving it a number of 0 both on the wall and on his map. He made a note that lower floors would be dubbed B1, B2 etc, growing as they grew farther from the base floor, and likewise in the opposite direction for the ascending floors.
It was as he was jotting this down he heard the call out of the slimes. Looking up, he noticed the small, black globules moving blindly around. Putting away his journal and map, and bringing out his Grimoire, he charged up a Miasma Bullet to launch at one of the slimes. Its damage should be high enough at its fully charged state to take out at least one, and since it would only cast every now and again, he didn't see too much problem in drawing agro. After blasting one of them, he began charging another bullet to launch into another slime, to at least severely damage it. He decided rather quickly he would blast any straglers that had decided to attack Kat or himself primarily, as while he could do some healing, Kat's didn't make you feel like you were making a deal with a daemon.

The battle raged on, and Dumah dashed away from his party, keeping the attention of the gelatinous creatures on himself. He quickly surveyed the area, and he kept most of his attention on his surroundings. The area was barely a room, and more of a ledge; a corridor missing one wall, and if Dumah did not focus on where he dodged, he could very well launch himself off of solid ground. If the impact with the hard ground several levels below did not kill him, then surely some monster or beast down below would greet him and finish the job. Dumah kept a mental map of the area he and his party was in, along with an idea of where his party members were and where the enemy slimes were. Dumah dashed and dodged away from the slimes, and as the horde of enemies grouped close together, it seemed almost as if they were going to merge into one large slime. In the corner of Dumah's peripheral vision, he noticed two attacks from his party: a magic bolt from Corvo, and a bolt from Kuro. Two slimes were defeated - both of the level twenty five gels.
The enemies were reduced to six slimes now, and as half of them split to head towards the Heretic and Assassin, Dumah opened his left hand, a ball of flame spawning in his palm, throwing it at the slimes that began to head towards the others. One was hit and killed, and now there was one less level thirty one slime in the mix. Having cast a spell, the slimes started to move towards the Swashbuckler once again. Dumah thought out loud, alerting his party members of a plan he had. The slimes were at his feet now, and his health slowly drained. "I can bring them all close together at me, then finish them off with an Area of Effect spell." Dumah felt a strong fatigue as the black slimes soaked his shoes. His feet felt much heavier, and it was harder to move. It was almost impossible to tell the slimes apart as they congregated so close together, practically melting into one single enemy. Dumah tried to examine the slimes to see where the weakest enemies were, trying to find the best spot to strike. However, instead of opening five menus for two level twenty three slimes, two level twenty nine slimes, and a last level thirty one slime, Dumah saw something new.
The slimes had somehow merged together into one larger slime, as well as fully healed themselves as this new entity. Words: 440 | Total Words: 3120 Tags: @bornfromvelvet @kurosan Noctis Corvo Coding by Sayha of LH

Katarina sweatdropped when she noticed Kuro winking at her while activating one of his skills. What was she saying about him being cocky? Maybe she should bet on his inevitable demise, get some gold out of this. It'd work. She was almost tempted to actually make a bet, before she remembered that, wait, they're in combat, it'd probably be a good idea to pay attention to the battle. Glancing around the battlefield, Kat noticed that Corvo was doing fairly well for himself, blasting any slimes that came too close to either Kat or himself, one-shotting most of them. She was slightly worried that he'd end up gathering too much aggro, but he seemed to be doing fine for the time being. Sparing a glance in Kuro's direction to make sure he was doing alright and not getting overwhelmed by slimes or anything, Kat turned to face the resident not-Tank. He also seemed to be going okay, dashing left and right in an attempt to avoid the hoard, while also chucking a few Fireball Pitches here and there to deal some damage. So far, his strategy seemed to be working, as he miraculously hadn't taken any damage as of yet. There was only about six slimes following him now, with the rest of them splitting off to go attack the rest of the group. Sadly, Kat couldn't really do much to help take them out. Her only offensive options were to beat them with her staff, which was a dumb idea, or to use Martyr Spear, and she didn't want to gain any more aggro than necessary in this situation. Well, she supposed she should be glad she wasn't doing much, since that meant no one had taken any damage. Dumah spoke out that he was going to try and take out the rest of the slimes with an AOE spell, which sounded like a fair plan in Kat's eyes. He was getting fatigued, he should probably try and finish this quickly. Kat glanced around the battlefield once more, checking the stats of her party members and the slimes- -wait. Why was only one menu showing up? Kat paused as she realised what was happening. The slimes were merging. Well. This was new. Sure enough, a quick glance in Dumah's direction showed him standing in front of one large black slime. The "Gelatinous Black Blob", a level 38 monster. A new dungeon-specific monster? Now curious, Kat activated the skill Evaluate, the signature skill of her Scholar subclass, which let her see the blob's weaknesses and abilities. 'Normal type, weak to all types of magic, doubly weak to electricity magic...' she thought to herself, her eyes glued to the interface. 'Skills: Absorbtion. The slime is able to absorb smaller, normal slimes to heal itself-' Ah. So that was what just happened. Still though, she hasn't heard of any other enemy having that skill, slime or otherwise. A unique skill perhaps? Well, it was its only skill, so she assumed it made sense. It evens out. Closing her menu, Kat turned to face Kuro and Corvo, who were still fighting off the slimes. "They're weak to magic!" she shouted out, sparing quick glances over at Dumah to make sure that he was doing alright. "Try to keep them away from Dumah's one, yeah? It can absorb the small ones for more health." She paused. "Actually, the small ones may have the same ability, so try and just take em out quickly."

The slime was now stuck and the poison was chipping away his health, and like a bonus he didn't aggro any more slimes. (Hmm, a bit of luck.) The assassin then continued to fire at the immobile enemy until some of the slimes got close to him. His {Trinket Work} skill was no longer active and some of the slimes started noticing him. He quickly jumped over one of the slimes, while kicking him before he landed. "Ahh.. shi-" (I got some of his goo on my clothes, well that'll disapear eventualy) He got interrupted by the slime trying to attack him, but Kuro jumped few more meters away from all the enemies. After that he fired at previously immobile slime, this time, killing him. The Assassin found himself surrounded by few other slimes. Luckily for him, they were all "low" levels, at least commpared to the other slimes. He did not wait 'till they attack him and once one of them attacked him, he doged around it, taking few points of damage, but nothing significant, and ran a bit further away. (I should really get a meele weapon!) When he was in a safe distance form the slimes he again ised his {Trinket Work} skill and started killing the slimes again. (I don't know why is Kat so waorried about me? I seem to be doing quite fine)Kuro used this tactic a bit more when suddenly the slimes started.... merging?! In a spot where there was a lot of 'em few moments ago now there was a giant slime. Kat then told them, but mostly Dumah, that they are weak to magic and then ordered Kuro and Noctis to keep the small ones from the big one. (Why do I feel like that is gonna be harder then it sounds.) But outloud he only said: "No problem!" The slimes were slowly "blobing" their way towards the big brotha' so Kuro simply started to pick them off one by one, either by firing at them or kicking them the opposite way. But no matter how hard he tried they kept on going... _____________________________________________________________________________________ [Word count: 353 Tags: @bornfromvelvet @dumah Noctis Corvo Note: Sorry for all the delay. :/ ]
