Evening. I was in the process of making a grimoire when I went and checked out the grimoire materials and I'm noticing a bit of a disparity in comparison to the other weapon types.
Now, this is the basic grimoire recipe. While the Quill Pen itself is unused in a craft, this is still 3 non-basic items that need to be crafted (and consumed) in order to make a grimoire. Each of these three items takes 3 items to craft, which brings the total up to a whopping 9 items consumed in order to make this grimoire. (1 is a mana fragment)
Even compared to the Magic Accessory (6 items, 3 of which are mana fragments), this is still a large amount.
When looking at weapon and equipment lists, the disparity increases even more. Especially when noting that a grimoire is an attacking weapon. As follows:
These all take 3 basic non-crafted items in order to create weapons. Keeping this in mind, to create a Level 10 weapon for any type that is not a grimoire, the cost will be 150 gold. However, for the grimoire, the cost is 425 gold. (8 basic items + mana fragment)
This massive price difference of almost three times creates an unfair disparity between grimoires and other craftable weapons. I myself do not understand if there is any great benefit to grimoires to warrant this price difference (and if there is, I'd love to hear it), but barring such an unknown, I'd like the grimoire to be adjusted down in terms of creation costs somehow. It is apparent to me why the materials are what they are, but this 'common sense' creates an unfair crafting environment for grimoires. I would recommend at the very least, removing 1 of the 'Parchment Paper' requirements, but this still leaves a 2x disparity.
A possible change to the recipe would be: "1 Magic Ink, 1 Old Paper, 1 Quill Pen". In the case of the level 1 item, this would be 40 gold to produce (as compared to 15 by other types). In the case of a level 10 item, this would be 175 gold to produce, whereas all other types would need 150 gold. I feel this recipe might be much more tolerable and I think that a 25 gold difference at all times is an acceptable casualty. Of course, I would prefer a perfect equality between grimoires and other weapon types unless there is some unknown benefit I am not seeing.
I'm looking forward to your feedback and comments!
