There was a lot going on, and Renai certainly did listen to it all with a fair amount of attention paid to each person, but was there really a lot to say about an high-leveled player who thought he knew what was what? He was supposed to stick with Caerbannog? That certainly wasn't his idea of acting as a disabler, especially considering disabling an opponent wouldn't allow the tank to gain as much hate. Not to mention, as he had learned from an earlier expedition with Elkeid and Hirosame, some golems aggro'd based on the usage of magic. The thing that was annoying Renai was Saber's usage of terms like 'Mr.' and 'Lady', but that was for reasons he didn't really feel like explaining. It was old history. Renai's eyes closed before they turned yellow temporarily, remaining closed until the player pulled his emotions back into stability. Those eyes returned to their original hue, removing any trace of him being a wolfman, and he opened them once more. There was no reason to spend eternity discussing this. He had a few rather unreasonable strategies already up his sleeves in case of a pinch, but he'd prefer not to mention them or use them until he had to. That last line from Saber forced a small, polite smile from Renai. What a terrible liar. How long had Renai been in the company of the upper crust, who thought they were better than others? It was never going to leave him be, was it? From Ruemia to Saber, someone just had to try and drag him back into those depths. Renai knew how to control his emotions, and though he might have been a Wolf Hair, he made sure he looked like a human at all times. There weren't any distinguishing features, save for his silver hair. That feature, as it turned out, was not one unique to his in-game appearance. The Cleric seemed to be paying enough attention, but he didn't particularly have anything to respond to what she had done. After all, it wasn't like he was paying anyone any extra attention. Except, perhaps, the other Enchanter. She seemed to be friendly enough, at least to him, so he smiled back at her. As the support classes of the party, although she was a healer and he was in the dps role, they'd be following similar strategies. Essentially, make the opponents regret moving forward. The Enchanter wasn't exactly looking forward to it, but he had to move forward. The feeling of Keen Edge across his weapon was unfamiliar, but recognized. After all, it was one of his possible spells, just one he didn't yet have. There wasn't much to say in regards to Avalon. She had that look that made Renai a little worried, but until she did something to confirm Renai's gut feeling, there was no reason to get himself involved. Renai couldn't tell what race everyone was immediately, unless they were something obvious like Race of Ritual or openly revealed their race characteristics. Renai hid his as best as he could, the only indication of his beast side being the mop of hair on his head. For that reason, he didn't have a clue that Avalon, Caerbannog, or anyone was a Wolf Hair, unless they went so far as to openly reveal themselves. Well, she was smiling at him, so hopefully she didn't think too badly of him to start. He'd just have to stay calm and not let loose. His mom would have his head, for sure. Elegance was the most important thing of all. He had to give Avalon props for being polite about excusing herself, rather than just leaving. That was certainly something that had annoyed Renai when Kumori had done it. Three points for Avalon in his book, based on her actions. Maybe minus a few for how much she fidgeted, but that wasn't something he could really blame anyone for. As far as Saber's words about being a hero went, however, Renai secretly disagreed. That was his personality coming to light and the simple thought that, although he might not be a tank, if anyone was going to die first, it was going to be him. Not because his defenses were paper thin, but because he wouldn't allow any other result. As far as the last member of the party, Stryke, went, Renai had a good opinion of him already. Although Stryke did not say anything about the strategy being more like an 'order', Renai had a similar view. After all, it was much like a boss dishing out orders. Hadn't he had enough of that from his thesis professor? That said, unlike Stryke, Renai felt it from both Saber and Kumori, though that might have been due to his initial distaste for the high-leveled Assassin. Renai's approval of Stryke was solidified by his last words, however. It was true, there was no such thing as a perfect strategy, and that reminder was certainly important here. Renai flashed an uncharacteristic grin at the Swashbuckler, the Enchanter's blood starting to boil just by being in that guy's presence. Pretty good for morale. It seemed things were sliding towards the ending. Caerbannog was silent as ever, Kumori was doing the Japanese thing. Well, there had been a round of 'hitei', so that was the end. Kumori was apologetic, but Renai's impression had already been settled. It wouldn't affect his attitude that much, but the 'cloudy' assassin couldn't escape a first impression. No one could. The plan was being updated by Kumori (and his orders) again, and Renai took it in stride, though he wasn't fond of being in the 'speaking and comms' role. At any rate, if they weren't going to start moving soon, they'd be talking all day. They got on the road in short order and Renai, being Renai, took up a position in between the frontline and the rear guard. He was close enough to Caerbannog to aid her as a disabler, but he didn't like being too far out to one side. In a strange way, he sometimes had the disposition of a tank over a support class. He just followed along, making sure Caer was never too far, and he was never too far from either the front or the back.

Do you believe in ghosts? Sitting back, or leaning back, against the tree behind him and keeping his mouth shut allowed Saber to sneak a few seconds of relaxation in before they would eventually move. It helped him keep his mind calm and helped him dissect the world around him much more easily while preparing himself for the stress of the upcoming fighting. People were shifting, looking around at each other, and taking in the information which had been supplied by himself and another player so it wasn’t a surprise that it had become a little quiet, at least for a moment. Some spoke up, saying that they were ready or agreed, but the words weren’t very extensive. It had become apparent to Saber that a large group of people in on one quest would be difficult to coordinate with just one or two people talking, and yet no one else spoke up about modifications or what they thought would do better. That wasn’t a bad thing, but it wasn’t a good thing either. Brain storming would allow for a better outcome later because of multiple angles being mulled over. With silence mostly coming out, people were at least on the same page with what would be happening. If they weren’t, than it would be their fault for not speaking up. And that wasn’t Saber’s problem. He would rather let someone die because of their own foolish mistake than attempt to mend a wound. Punishment and fear had helped Saber learn how to survive in reality and his father had used both methods to teach him how to hunt. Failure was something Saber knew well, and he had learned much from it.
The only one who actually became vocal about the situation was the man known as Stryke. And he did so very straightforwardly. Oddly, what caught Saber’s attention was that he thought that he had seen the man somewhere before. Yet, he had seen so many faces that he wasn’t the least bit certain if he had, so he didn’t say anything. Although whether Saber knew him didn’t matter; what mattered was what he said. It made Saber smirk because he knew that Stryke was correct. The Assassin internally agreed with the rash Swashbuckler and simply nudged at the cloth which covered his face, pushing it higher up his nose as he grinned a little beneath the piece of clothing. He felt a little like a bad person for doing so, but he was happy someone had spoken up.
“Well, at least someone knows how a battle is fought…” Saber kept his eyes closed as he simply listened while the man spoke, taking in what the player’s words meant. Perfection was a white lie, but it was a good cover to keep people together during stressful situations or at times when information was scarce. Keeping people together was Saber’s ultimate goal for the time being, as it would help with stability and would ward off panic. Combat was unpredictable and there was no telling what was going to happen in the next ten minutes, so saying that a plan was full proof was stupid. If Saber’s personal prediction was correct and the quiet people around him were far too focused on their own problems and internal distastes; they would fall apart even before the field boss appeared, yet he kept silent about it. Saber was ready to watch the entire party formation shatter should that time come if it meant progression. However, optimistically they would be able to sustain the formation until the field boss. Once at that point, everything would need to be shifted in a very controlled manner. Without any change in the formation when facing the field boss, the party would be burdened by both the formation and by internal greed. Greed was something Saber feared most.
Fighting a boss was a thing which was rare even in the world of Elder Tale where people now lived and explored, so it came as no surprise that many players jumped at the chance to fight one whenever it appeared. Sadly, as an example, the field boss of Sarum was the only reason Saber was actually around for the quest. All of the other monsters, to him, were just bonus experience. He wanted to battle something strong and worth his time for once in his life in the game. Though if he wanted to be selfish, like nearly every other player he had come across so far in the game while hunting, and solely wanted to fight the boss, he would have elected to remain towards the rear with his bow and left the tanking to the quiet Samurai. Yet he knew full well that if he stood by in the back that he would attract a lot of attention by the surrounding monsters simply because of his damage output. Such a thing would cause a problem for the other players, and causing problems was something Saber would rather avoid. Well, for the most part he tried to avoid them. In this situation, he didn’t care what happened; Saber wanted the Field Boss’s head on a silver platter. Survival was one of his priorities, yet he wouldn’t save someone who foolishly threw themselves into a bad situation. That would risk far too many lives.
“Oh how I love war.” The internal thought made the man chuckle to himself as he pushed off the tree behind him and adjusted his belt. It was about time to get moving and he wasn’t going to wait forever. The Field Boss was a HVT, or High Value Target, in the zone which mean that dozens of other players would most likely be attempting to reach and fight it. Saber would not let that happen, not on his watch at least. He wanted to lace that monster’s face with his blade and bury his knife into its neck. The pain filled scream it would emit… Saber wanted to hear it. Just the thought of what it could sound like sent a shiver down his spine. Perfect…
Most of the other party members understood what would be going on in the area, a few had verbally acknowledged it, and Saber was quite content personally with what had been laid out before them all. No one spoke up in distaste towards the plan aside for Stryke, sort of, and it seemed the other player from before, Kumori, was setting the record straight with him. That saved the bored Assassin some oxygen and it also meant that Saber didn’t have to step on anyone’s toes. Even though he would probably never see half of the people around him again after the quest, grudges were things he would enjoy avoiding for the time being. Especially when he was supposed to be trusting his back to the player’s he would be stepping on if he spoke anymore. He elected to keep the rest of what he was going to say to himself.
“Let’s get going. Our initial task is to expand the camp territory so the Field Boss will come later. We’ll deal with that when, or if, we face it.” The player spoke loud enough for everyone in the area to hear him without any problems and didn’t look at anyone specifically as he did so. He was more focused with his own setup at that point; the tree had offset his blades a little. When he was set, he turned around the tree and headed towards the edge of the open area surrounding the camp. The area opened slightly, as it normally did because of the number of trees diminishing, and the wide open field became fully visible after just a few steps that Saber took. It was a lovely day for some question, and that helped him relax even further. The warmth of the sun wasn’t overbearing, there weren’t any depressing gray clouds, and the wind was just a gentle breeze. How soothing…
“I should avoid this kind of stuff in the future.” Saber pulled his hood over his head, protecting his eyes from the unblocked and blinding sunlight, and stood upright as he headed straight towards the distant “front line” where the Golems were spawning near the camp. There weren’t many, just enough to be a nuisance, so at least the quest would be quick once they started. Until then, he let his mind wander a little.

The two latter men had little to say, but Rien spoke more, most of which Capsule deemed irrelevant to her and ignored. She had nothing of her own to offer, though, not even the other two pulling in the rear with her. Small talk was never Capsule's thing. It was bothersome and amounted to little, but the ensuing silence did not make her feel any better. 'This is kind of dreary.' She supposed it made sense, though, since chatter was a distraction, and distractions could lead to preemptive strikes from the enemy. Speaking of enemies…
Capsule furrowed her brow at the small cluster of golems in the distance. They were few in number, but their levels and classifications concerned her far more. If they were just low leveled sentries, which were the usual mobs that spawned near camp, then there should be little cause for alarm. It would be weird for stronger enemies to be so near the base, unless they had finally smartened up and decided to assemble to strike the expedition camp. If she could communicate with Fiver or her stubborn owl, sending one ahead to scout out the golems would be beneficial. Duke, as if sensing her thoughts, turned his head further away from her in a not so subtle manner. 'Yeah, I love you, too,' she thought, hoping the owl could sense her surliness through the wing that covered his head. She had half a mind to use Inversion on him. 'You stubborn little owl. Why can't you be more like Fiver?' It was amazing that he hadn't ditched her yet, but she did feed him, after all.
A soft growling near her feet pulled her attention away from the owl and to the rabbit hopping around her feet. Fiver's growling meant that danger was near - or he just disliked someone in the group. He had proven in the past that he was not overly fond of men, so she suspected that Aeon's presence was the culprit here. If, however, he was growling at monsters, she did not see any but the cluster up ahead. "Oh shush," she muttered as she lightly booped the rabbit on the head with the end of her staff. Duke hooted softly at the lapin being reprimanded, but straightened up and drew its wings to the side a moment later.
They had wandered short of aggro distance to the golems, which Capsule could now barely make out the names of. These were just Golem Sentries, and low leveled ones, at that. "This will be a piece of ca-" Duke's sudden screeching and flapping cut her off midway, and the little nip at her leg from Fiver was not helping. She managed to shake the bird off and send it flying, but could not do the same for Fiver; doing so only made him hold on tighter. It was at this point that she realized that leaving the rabbit out was probably not a good idea. It was also something she would have to worry about at a later date, for she seemed to have stepped on something odd.
The ground beneath her had went from soil to mostly rock, which she quickly recognized as the fallen and half buried body of a level two Golem Sentry. The golem's arms, head and shoulders were free, while the rest of his body seemed to be trapped underground. Capsule yelped and jumped back and away from the monster she had unintentionally stepped on, her eyes filled with repulsion. 'How-' The golem slowly shifted its head from side to side, and then stretched out an arm to reach for the nearest party member. "Uuuh…" She assumed that the front of the party would have their hands too full with the group of golems, so dealing with this one would fall on either her and Aeon or Avalon and Stryke. "Ugh." Well, it's not like it could move much, anyway - unless it somehow managed to free itself.
Capsule decided to poke and prod the golem with the end of her staff, wondering how it came to be partially trapped under ground in the first place. This golem was definitely a weirdo. She was surprised it had survived for this long; it was a prime target with its movement reduced like this. Surely someone must have trapped it here on purpose...unless the earth literally birthed golems and forced them to crawl out on their own.

[attr="class","quest"] Sarum Expedition Combat MissionAs we get closer toward the city of Sarum, monsters seem to continuously spawn. The highest leveled player was already up ahead so it was pointless for her to stuff herself up front too, no matter how small she was. Notably, Kumori apologized to Renai for his earlier mistake and assigned the enchanter to support her, the sole tank class in the party. It did not take long for them to chance upon a group of golems, sentries by the looks of it due to the creatures’ size. She’d not seen those types of mobs before but judging from the descriptions that certain other quests had, they were first up against the weakest creatures on their list. And it made sense too for they were too close to the expedition camp anyway, and golem sentinels were known to patrol areas further away from the camp unlike the low leveled sentries.
Eventually the group fell silent and only the antics of Capsule’s pets kept Caerbannog from feeling too awkward as she walked on. Just a while ago, there was so much talking that the samurai thought she was in a classroom, so the silence felt a bit eerie. At least their main tank was still up ahead, and two of their support-type members were still on their toes. As for the DPS ones excluding Kumori though... she wasn’t sure if they were still quite there. And if they weren’t, then the party formation was screwed up. As far as she could tell, only five of them remained in formation and their sole healer seemed to have wandered off. Not to be put down by such changes, and indeed it was not unexpected for every adventurer had his or her own thing to run off to, Caerbannog had her weapon at the ready. She was no longer just a tank but one of the attackers too.
As they got closer to the group of golem sentries, she noticed that there were five of them up ahead. Four could be seen clearly while a fifth was obscured by the other golems. The samurai was just about to point that out when suddenly, Capsule began to poke and prod at something. Caerbannog squinted and could finally make out the figure of a golem which was buried on the ground. She ran over to the enchanter and after visually ascertaining that she was fine, she motioned for Capsule to move aside. Once the red-haired adventurer moved, the samurai nodded at her and then drew her sword to cut up the golem’s face. Just one slash did the trick for the drawn sword was passively strengthened by her [Iaido]. She would have sighed in relief if not for the movement of the rocks nearby. Was the buried golem a trap or an unfortunate mob which fell into something and got stuck? Either way, the party was pretty much surrounded. Four Level 2 Golem Sentries appeared from behind boulders and rubble, possibly seeking to avenge their destroyed cousin. In the distance, the group of five golem sentries began to move towards the Sarum Expedition Camp. If they did not start cutting down their enemies, the party might be overrun and the lower leveled people might actually get hurt. Caerbannog positioned herself to the right of the group to take on two golem sentries that appeared from that side. Someone else would have to take the left side and those up front would have to deal with the incoming group of five other Golem Sentries.

Renai walked along, staying near Capsule and Caerbannog as the two assassins in the party kept their eyes up front. Good for them. Whatever. The other four members of the party, Avalon, Jojo, Stryke, and Aeon all seemed to be spacing out. Which was lovely, really, because if they weren't paying attention, then their dps and their sustainability just got chunked hard. Renai's eyes kept flicking from side to side, almost wishing he had an animal companion to help him out as well. The Enchanter's eyes turned to his female counterpart's discovery, eyes on the lump in the ground. What the...? The golems up front were really obvious and Renai was expecting Kumori and Saber to deal with them, as they were in the front, but the appearance of this golem in the middle of their path attracted his attention. Almost no sooner than he had moved to glance at it had Caerbannog taken one swing at it and crushed it immediately. Had Renai been the type, he would have whistled. Instead, he turned around and stared at the four golems that appeared out from behind the rocks. A quick check of their levels put him a little more at ease, but they were still four golems that had appeared out of nowhere and had to be taken care of. "Status report: Two sets, two golems, rear flank." Renai's somewhat polite tone suddenly carried, projecting across the field the way someone used to dealing with noisy people and garnering attention was used to. In the field, he had no choice but to his experience working to his advantage. Being the odd-jobs individual he was and having dealt with some rather roudy ojou-samas in his day, his voice almost boomed across the area. It wasn't 'loud', it just carred. Now that his job informing the party of sudden problems had been done, he moved to deal with the flank. Caerbannog could finish these golems in what looked like a strike or two, so Renai gave her the chance she needed. Taking a moment to stop and aim, he quickly cast two spells in succession. Astral Bind. Astral Hypno. The golems moving towards their right side suddenly had a rather unfortunate set of spells cast at them, one falling right over on its face and falling asleep, while the other was locked in position. Those would essentially become easy pickings for Caerbannog, seeing as she could cleanly eliminate one and then move onto to kill the sleeping one. As for the golems on the left side, Renai turned around and stood next to Capsule, firing a Pulse Bullet one of them. Just a single Pulse Bullet. Ding~ Then came his next spell. He turned to the five golems moving in from the front and cast Inversion on one of them that was closely bunched next to another one. The spell's effect was instantaneous. The golem spun rapidly to a 180, and in the process smacked one of its nearest neighbors. The golem that had spun, seeing as it was now backwards but still had momentum moving forward, stumbled and fell over. The one that had been smacked by its clumsy comrade wobbled and tried to regain its balance. Turning back towards the golems on the left, Renai launched another Pulse Bullet. Then Inversion on another golem in the front, causing it to fall over. Then a Pulse Bullet to the left. He'd repeat this as long as it took, hoping that Capsule would be able to manage against the things on the left while he kept 'plinking'. They only had a level of two, so what were they really going to do? He just kept inverting the front line, expecting the two assassin-types to capitalize. If any other 'disabling' was to be done, it would have to be done by the stronger of the Enchanters. Renai's attention was most focused on Caerbannog, his so-called 'charge', and he wasn't about to let her get into any unnecessary trouble. On the off-chance that she happened to get into a tight spot, he was ready to cast Nightmare Sphere in case of a pinch. That seemed like the best spell to go for. It kinda sucked that out of the people who were paying attention, he was the lowest in level and lowest in ability to do any damage. He could only keep the golems tripping over themselves. At least his mp didn't take any big hits, seeing as all his spells were extremely mana efficient.

While 4 of their 9 members were doing who knows what, Ryuu quickly went into action. These monsters were level 2, so he figured allowing the samurai to fend against two of them on her own would be okay. Since Saber had yet to act, his best choice of action was to delay the 5 golems in front while Ryuu and Kyuu dealt with the flanks. Taking advantage of the attacks that Renai was using on the golems to the left side, Ryuu would do his best to force the golems to target him, drawing them away from the attention of the other members that were currently dead weight. Taking out both of his daggers, he knew that it was necessary to do as much damage as he could, as quickly as possible without using too much mana. With the most damaged golem on the left, he’d strike it with both of his daggers, cleaving one of its arms off and then pushing it over. The golem was a sad opponent to fight, but these were sentries, and sentries were easy to handle. Ryuu spun around to face the second golem and used an upward slash to cut at the golem who was attempting to flank them. He jumped up the slow golem’s body, unable to catch the swift Assassin and Ryuu decapitated the golem. Both of the golems disappeared into data crystals, and Ryuu landed back on the ground to wait for the approaching golems to get here. “Hmm, we’re just getting started,” he said as he would look to see if Kyuu needed his help, and then towards Saber.

'Noo, not the golem…' She knew it was going to die beforehand, but that did not make its violent death any easier on her. Fiver, on the other hand, seemed absolutely delighted by the scene. The rabbit sat back on its haunches and began grooming itself, all the while making a soft noise of contentment. "You're so cold, Fiver…" Well, she supposed it was just a golem, but still. Fiver was being too cold and Caer was surprisingly brutal, but also kind of cute at the same time. 'Uh. What was I doing again…?'
Oh, right. The other golems were still an issue, and a few of their party members were being less than helpful. This meant that she, Renai, Caerbannog, Kumori and Saber would have to pick up the slack. It also meant that Cap would have to do more than stand around and look pretty. Renai was practically dancing about as he did what he could against the golems, which honestly wasn't much more than tripping or annoying the golems with Mind debuffing spells. 'Time to make shit happen,' she thought as she gripped her staff in both hands.
With Caerbannog taking the golems to the right and Kumori tackling the ones on the left, Capsule positioned herself nearer the front, her eyes set on the five golems in the front. She used Magi Howling on Renai first, to help boost the power and efficiency of the lower levelled Enchanter's spells, and then used Mind Shock on the golems ahead. Electrical Fuzz followed, and now that the golems were dimly glowing from the spell and having difficulty moving, Capsule further confused them with Inversion, and injured them with Pulse Bullet. Her and Renai were more than enough to disorient the golems, so they should be easily dispatched by the Assassins and Samurai.
After giving Renai a bob of the head and a little thumbs up, Capsule stepped back to let the tanks and DPS do their jobs. She had to go back to the roles of support and field monitor, more so since Jojo seemed to have wandered off, and Aeon was too busy doing his own thing to step in. 'This is some group.' If the rest of the crew did not shape up soon, they might find themselves at a loss later on. They were only doing so well right now because the monsters they faced were ridiculously under leveled. Without Jojo around to lend her healing powers, they were might find themselves to be in a bind in terms of heals. Capsule only had a limited supply of potions, after all.
Her quick survey of the field brought back nothing of note. The only immediate threat was the one before them right now. Capsule whistled for her rabbit to come nearer, and stepped protectively in front of him, as if her scrawny and fragile figure would be enough to shield the rabbit from harm. The instant things turned south, however, Capsule would take no chances and store the rabbit back into her quick slot for Domesticate.

Do you believe in ghosts? Silence was something Saber enjoyed living in. It was something he looked forward to at the end of every day because it was what it was; silence. Every day, every moment, was full of noise, motion, and wore him down bit by bit. His patience grew thin, extremely thin, as the days marched on. The night was like a reboot for him and allowed his mind to rest. It was almost like a sort of calm during the storm of life, and he looked forward to it. However, he would have to fight for it today it seemed. The area around Sarum was alive with the ugly, pathetic, stone faces of the Golems protecting its walls. Saber seethed at the sight, or even the mentioning of such things in his proximity. How could he let such simple creatures nearly kill him before? They were slow, stupid, and oversized targets that he could kill in his sleep! And yet, hundreds of them marched in the lands around him, laughing at him because of his previous failure. Saber was taught to hunt with the intent to kill, the intent to slowly take the life of one’s target. However, today was different. His blood boiled, his breath was hot, and he could barely contain himself. He was at the point that he would burst when finally…
“Golems…” The sight before him was something he had seen dozens of times before; an array of Golems in the front with a handful coming from the sides. With a glance behind him, the party’s formation had already fallen apart as he had guessed it may have. So, with that in mind, Saber threw out his own role as forward tank. Instead, he would rely on what he knew best in this world; speed, aggression, and sheer overwhelming power to either get the attention of the Golems to bring them all to their knees. The thought of laying waste to the entire group made Saber grin beneath the cloth which covered his face. If he had chosen to be a wolf-hair, he was sure that the massive teeth would have stuck out. Thankfully, he had chosen Elf.
Reaching to his waist, Saber grasped the handles of six of his throwing knives; three in each hand. With a firm hold on all of them, he glanced around to his right and left. The party had split in order to engage everything that they could, leaving Saber with a wide spread area to cover. It was annoying, but could be easily contained with swift movements and precision. For once, it seemed like he was going to have to use some skills; he hated using skills. Relying on his own sheer power and speed was something he enjoyed much more. It made things more… personal. However, this was not a situation where he could waste time on such thoughts; lives were on the line.
“Let’s have some fun… shall we?” Saber chuckled softly to himself and glanced to his right. Twirling his shoulders and his waist, the player ripped himself around and swirled about. At the peak of his spin, the man planted his right foot, targeted one of the Golems with his eyes, and threw two daggers towards it. Both struck stone; one hitting the Golem in the head while the second hit the upper left corner of its torso. Its attention was immediately snagged and it turned away from the female Samurai which had moved to that side. Saber didn’t kill it yet, but it would lighten her load by half. The distance also gave Saber time.
Using his momentum from the spin, Saber turned all the way around and threw the remaining three knives in his hands towards the Golems the Enchanter, Renai, was targeting. The magical user had shouted his report earlier, but Saber had let him do his own form of fighting before taking advantage of the situation. The Golems had already begun to take some damage and after being affected by some of the magic spells; a few had actually smacked into each other and were falling over. Perfect. At least magic was useful for something! Though, Saber still preferred the feeling of burying his sword into someone’s neck; which his knives were now doing…
A few moments after he release the small volley of three knifes, they shot through the air and slammed into the bodies of two of the four Golems which were there. Their eyes flared from the sudden strike, their health dropped, and they turned from the side towards him. If he was alone, he would have simply let them walk but he wasn’t this time. Instead, he launched another pair of blades, striking each of them once more as to snag their ‘Hate’ completely. With that, he stood upright and glanced to his left towards the Enchanters which were there.
“Renai, leave those two. Let them close.” Quickly after he finished, Saber turned away from the magical pair at the rear and confirmed that the two Golems had begun to walk towards him. With that settled, he now had three to worry about. Almost there.
Squeezing the last knife he held in his right hand, the Assassin narrowed his eyes on the group to the front. The other lively assassin had handled two of the five which had attempted to assault them, Renai had caused one to fall over and another to stumble, and the remaining fifth was marching forward strong. It made Saber chuckle a little at the sight of the Golems moving around in a semi-coordinated fashion, but it was also something they probably shouldn’t have done. It allowed the semi-ranged player to pick their formation apart with ease. Though, it wasn’t like the Player’s had any better formation to speak of now. For the moment, such a thing was second to the situation. Saber had a job of being a tank, of sorts, so he would do so accordingly. With the last knife in his hand, the player swirled it around and then launched it forward. Immediately after, his hands slipped to his waist, grabbing the remaining six that were there. With a pull, twist, and flick, Saber launched three more forward. The four blades split, coasting through the air at their quick pace towards their designated targets. With three left, Saber turned about his heels and launched one towards the other three Golems around him, pelting them with one each.
The massive bodies made easy targets and Saber was able to land chest-hits on all three Golems towards the front of the group. Due to their much closer proximity, the three Golems approaching from the flanks had been struck in their heads rather than their chests. The hate for all six of the Golems lifted, increasing more on the initial three from the flanks. The ones in the front were still lightly angered, but enough influence had been placed on them to start coming towards the Assassin. It wasn’t enough to keep them locked on him, but enough to get the group moving. That was all he needed.
Reaching once more to his waist, the Assassin’s hands fell on the two blade hilts which were nestled there. He squeezed them gently and took in a deep, slow breath before pulling them free from their positions. His homemade twin blades, Blade of the North and Blade of the South, shimmered in the light and brought a happy gleam to the player’s eyes as he looked down at their finely polished edges. Oh yes, it was time to have some fun.
With the Golems to his sides much more influenced to attack him, Saber leaned forward towards the trio ahead of him and shoved off the group, breaking into a rapid sprint. Attacking the front would not only give him time to take the Golems on in groups, but it would also pull his collected group away from the others behind him. Protecting the mages was something he preferred to keep at a higher end of the list because of their usefulness during certain situations, so he had to keep that in mind when making decisions. So, for the moment, he would do what he could to keep them out of harm’s way. Yet, what Saber didn’t count on was the actual distance between himself and the three Golems ahead. He had thought they were further than what they actually were, forcing him to act sooner than he would have liked. Even so, his goal would be unaffected.
After moving for only a few seconds, Saber hopped to his right and then shoved off a medium sized rock which protruded from the ground. Using it as a stepping-stone, no pun intended, the Assassin launched himself up into the air; backwards. Soaring for several meters as he looked towards the sky, Saber shut his eyes and counted. One… Two… Three…
Opening his eyes back up, the player turned his shoulders to the left and ignited one of his skills; Deadly Dance. It wasn’t much at first, but as he began his descent towards his initial target he began to pick up angular speed. The skill flashed boldly on his screen as his body started to twist. The player switched the blade in his right hand to a reverse grip and pulled both hands in, causing his body to twist even faster. Even as he drew closer and closer to the ground, and into the range of the Golem Sentry, Saber continued to spin. He spun around and around, the air whipping at his body and almost sucking the oxygen from his lungs from his speed. Up and up, faster, faster, faster!.... Impact!
With a ferocious smash, Saber’s left sword sliced through the front half of the front Golem’s head. Another crack followed as its torso was split into by Saber’s right hand. Its torso was split even further when his left blade came back around, nearly cutting the central rock in half. Its health plummeted towards zero as Saber’s feet gently touched the ground. The player lowered himself into a ball, his knees taking in all of the energy, and then he sprung backwards as the Golem started to collapse. Swirling around again as to keep his twisting going, Saber moved through the air towards the other two Golems from the front. His initial jump halved the required distance the Assassin needed to reach them but it was enough. For when he landed, he shot forward like a spinning rocket. Deadly Dance flared on his display again as Saber continued to key the skill and it looked as if it would turned red as its power reached its limit. The player could feel the pressure on his body, and it became hard to breathe. He could feel his conscious fade slightly as he closed in on the next Golem; g-forces were a bitch.
Before he could reach the Golem, Saber dropped towards the ground and planted his right foot firmly on it. Then, rather than continue moving horizontally, The player shot upwards and right between the two hands of the Golem as it threw its fists down towards him. His left blade impacted first, slicing the Golem’s torso. Then the right blade reinforced the hit. Three more strikes split the torso stone of the Golem before Saber finally reached its head and it was there that the Assassin’s momentum gave out. With nothing else to propel him, he spun slowly to his left until he was looking at the massive animated pile of rocks. He smirked at the sight.
A hard thrust allowed the player to dig one of his blades into the center of the creature’s face. A second helped him steady his body. A third helped him start to climb, and a fourth allowed him to pull himself up onto the Golem’s head. Its health quickly diminished as the attacks stacked up and by the time Saber could stand, the beast was already starting to fall. He didn’t have much time so he quickly broke into a sprint and focused his eyes on the third foe in his chain of murderous motions. It was close, very close, and it was staring right at him. With a hard, dusty kick, Saber launched himself into the air once more and raised both blades above his head. The Golem he kicked off tumbled towards the ground. The Golem in his sights rumbled and cocked a hand back. Saber’s eyes focused on a single spot, the closest and deadliest spot, on the Golem’s skull; the front center of its forehead. The wind licked at the player’s body as he flew forward, and the Golem’s fist shot to him. However, the player’s mind was made up; it was too late to back out now!
Bringing his swords down and his knees in, Saber lifted his legs up and shrunk himself into an airborne ball as he barely inched over the knuckles of the Golem’s hand. Rubble and loose rocks pelted his body and his clothes ripped at his skin. His equipment rattled and his body shook, but his focus was not broken. Shooting his legs out, Saber planted his feet on the back of the Golem’s hand and sprung forward. As if sticking out his fangs, the player’s blades shot up and then came down towards the Golem’s head. The skill, Fatal Ambush, flicked in the corner of the player’s eye as the two blades dug themselves into the Golem’s head. Its health bar almost shattered to bits as the red critical damage label nearly blinded Saber. It was as if blood had splattered across his display, and the Golem did nothing but lurch forward and groan in sorrow as its last attack failed.
Planting his feet on the Golem’s unlit head, Saber withdrew his swords and launched himself backwards to a safe distance from the falling target, and into the clutches of the three Golems which had followed him. Saber turned away from the depressing sight of death and landed facing his final three targets. Though, rather than end their lives as quickly as he wanted to, he dug in. The three were far too close together and were already moving to surround him as his first foot hit the ground. It was tanking time.
Swirling his blades both into forward holds, Saber narrowed his eyes on the three Golems and then opened them a little wider as to open his field of view. The three massive stone columns filled his vision and blocked him off from seeing his allies. He could see between their legs, but it was far too difficult to do so without risking his own health. So instead, he glanced up at their health bars; nothing surprising or heart breaking. Fantastic. With his blades held tight and nothing far to menacing on his mind, Saber planted his heels as the first volleys of punches came at him. He grit his teeth and with a swift slice, diverted the oncoming stone hand into the dirt to his left. Swirling right, he did the same to the next fist, but this time he caused it to continue passed him into the forearm of the other Golem.
Once the two had been shaken, Saber hopped to his right just in case and spun all the way around to face the next Golem. Its fist came quick, and it smashed into the player’s twin blades as Saber crossed them in front of himself. They created a barrier, blocking the strike with ease. Saber was pushed back a few feet, but he quickly repelled the shot and shoved the Golem’s hand back. Though, before the hand could move too far, a pair of swift cuts dug into the Golem’s knuckles. The same occurred to the wrists and forearms of the other Golems’ arms. Their attacks had been parried and Saber remained stationary between them, but the price of their attacks had also been paid.
“I should have stayed Guardian.”

OC: so late it's not even funny, sorry guys
What was that? A moment of spacing out? A moment earlier they were all talking about the battling strategy and a moment later Stryke's team was occupied with fighting some golems. How could that have happened? Stryke knew that sometimes he could wander off with his head into some far away worlds but this was beyond ridiculous.
The golems to fight were low leveled and scarce in numbers, at least his brief time of disappearance wouldn't bring deadly repercussions to his team, everyone was strong enough to deal with many golems at once. Strangely, it appeared that he wasn't the only one to have spaced out, in fact only half the team was currently fighting the golems.
Leo shook his head and slapped his cheeks to concentrate and shook off that weird sensation, even if he spaced out only for some seconds it felt like he had been gone for more than a week and that feeling was really creeping him. Leo didn't know what happened or why it seemed to have inflicted half his team, the less he knew about this damned thing the better, the only thing he knew as that he couldn't waste any more time and he had help his partners.
Leo inspected his surroundings and found the girl named Capsule fight the golems on the front, she was currently casting some debuff spells on the mobs in synergy with buffs to the enchanter named Renai. In the mean time, Caerbannog fought the mobs on the left while Kumori handled those on the right. Leo followed with a quick decision, Caerbannog and kumori could handle themselves pretty good, so Leo decided to help Capsule and Renai with the mobs on the front, especially because the two adventurers were currently outnumbered by 5 on 2.
Leo started to dash at max speed, the group battling the mobs wasn't far away from him but he still had to run to catch them. When he sprinted forward he felt something weird though, his acceleration speed was by far faster than he was used to thanks to combining effects of having a new cloth armor with a movement speed buff on it. Leo's previous armor was a really heavy starter chain armor, Leo hated that armor because he felt that it restricted his movements too much, so he decided to find a crafter and get a new armor that didn't get on his nerves as much as that one. In the end he found Aeon, who crafted him his new howling wolf armor, a cloth type armor with a movement speed buff. The change in movement speed wasn't that great but it still managed to catch Leo off guard, he felt so light that feared if he jumped he would fly off in the skies, the change in armor weight was the thing that really disoriented him.
Actually, this was the first time Leo got to test his new armor and so he was just getting used to the liberty of movement it granted, it didn't take him took long though. After about 2 seconds, his body quickly adapted to the change in weight and speed and Leo could finally joy over his freedom of movement, the weird feeling of heavy metal restraining his movements was all gone.
While he sprinted faster than he had ever done in his life, Leo activated his toggle skill <Carve>, a skill that enabled him to deal a bonus 20% damage to rock type monsters, a damn good skill to have against the golems in sarum. A moment later he finally arrived on the closest mob and impaled its rocky chest with his two swords without many ceremonies, the damage from both swords in Leo's hands added to the carve skill and the other debuffs granted him a OHKO against the rocky monster.
A sthe mob faded into nothingness, Leo looked behind himself and spoke to his partners behind him,
"Strange thing, I already asked this before, I'm not too late, am I?"

[attr="class","quest"] Sarum Expedition Combat MissionAs we get closer toward the city of Sarum, monsters seem to continuously spawn. Your job is to team up with fellow Adventurers and take down your fair share of monsters so that we can expand the camp ever so closer toward the city borders. NPC: Eddison List of Objectives:- Kill Golem Sentry Lv 2: 9/10 - Kill Golem Sentry Lv 10: 3/3 - Kill Golem Sentinel Lv 15: 0/2 - Kill Golem Phalanx Lv 20: 0/1 - Expand Sarum Expedition Camp: 0/1 Participants:[Main_Tank] Saber Lv52 [Sub_Tank] @dindeen Lv32 [Main_Healer] Jojo Kaguya Lv15 [Sub_Healer] Capsule Lv37 [DPS] Kumori Lv19 [DPS] Renai Lv16 [DPS] Stryke Lv25 [DPS] Avalon Lv13 [DPS] Aeon Lv14 Equipped: Windsor Antiqua Ooyoroi | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) - :: - Skill: Iaido (Passive) Enchanters were most interesting. Their abilities lay not in direct damage or instant healing, but in disorienting the enemy. Basically, they specialized in crowd control. Caerbannog noted as much before she turned to the golem before her, as she was situated to the RIGHT side of the party. Saber had drawn the Hate of one of the golems which spawned there just as it had fallen asleep too, and so she was left with only one mob to deal with.
The golem sentry on Caerbannog’s side was bound in place, so the samurai just ran up to it and slashed its knee. The rock creature soon fell to one side, and the wolf-hair would not let it suffer any further. She struck its head clean off and soon that target disappeared into the aether. As she noticed Saber finish off some mobs up front though, Stryke soon ran past her and took care of anything that evaded the high leveled assassin’s reach.
From the earth, a Level 10 Golem Sentry spawned from behind and so Caerbannog ran towards it to prevent any harm from befalling their enchanters. She sheathed her nagamaki as she ran and when the golem was right in front of her ready to attack, the samurai drew her sword and sliced its right knee clean off. The golem fell forward and so Caerbannog had to jump back to get out of its shadow. She then ran up to the fallen creature and jumped onto its head then she ended up right on the struggling mob’s back. Before it could turn or stand up, the samurai buried her sword into its nape and twisted the weapon for good measure. The golem sentry’s head fell off and the samurai landed on the ground rather daintily as the monster turned to data crystals.
Up ahead, rocks and boulders began to rumble. Two Golem Sentinels soon rose from the ground and a third figure slowly materialized from a swirling mess of stone behind them. The sentinels acted as guards and ran towards the Sarum party. They were Level 15s, to be precise, and wasted no time to start up their attacks. Once they were within five meters of the party, both golems stomped on the ground at an attempt to make the adventurers fall over. Each stomp would gradually become stronger until the sentinels were stopped. As for the creature a few meters behind them, it was soon apparent that the Level 20 elite mob Golem Phalanx had just appear in the battlefield.
OOC Notes: I vote ignore the inactives. I’d rather not godmod. Update on killings: Kumori on the left killed 2/2. Caer killed 1 / 2 from the right, 1 that just spawned. Saber killed 1 / 2 from right, 2 more that spawned on the left I guess? And 3/5 from up front. Renai & Capsule cc’d most golems. Stryke killed 1/5 forward. There is 1 Sentry up front (?), 2 sentinels incoming and the Phalanx spawned in the distance. | Word Count: 422 | Tags: Party List |

[Voting to ignore the inactives]Renai was less than happy that Kumori had come back to deal with the golems on the left. They were just two, he and Capsule could have handled it, but now every was all scattered and... Stryke had said it right. Pre-built strategies meant absolutely nothing in combat. Saber's post was honestly just so long that Renai didn't even pay attention to it. He got the general gist anyway. Murderous rampage from the assassin in order to completely decimate the front line and slice straight through other golems hanging out places. He did let the golems alone when Saber asked him to, assuming the individual had a plan, and it seemed that everyone else was doing their own thing. Whatever. Not that he wasn't grateful for Capsule's usage of Magi Howling on him. It was very well received and appreciated, and Renai returned the other Enchanter's gesture with a deep nod of his head and as best an appreciative and respectful smile as he could manage. Well, things and stuff were happening and now the final boss had reared its big, ugly head. Again, he did what he could to inform the party of what was going on. "Sentinels and Phalanx in front." Renai stepped back to hang out with Caerbannog and Capsule, leaving the other players further ahead and the golems as far away as possible. Now, Renai would have focused on the Sentinels and their stomping, but he didn't have any spells to deal with that. He cast Inversion on both the Sentinels to get them to fall over, but his spells could not restrict movement enough to stop them from using their stomping attack. No, Renai was more focused on the Phalanx that was... Oh hell no. The Golem Phalanx was using Stonewheel to cover the distance, avoiding going slow with its lumbering legs, and Renai had no choice but to cast Astral Bind on the creature to slow its assault even momentarily, casting Mind Shock on the Phalanx. It was too far away for Renai to smack it and the Sentinels, but problems were never solved so easily. The Phalanx was resistant to mind debuffs, which Mind Shock probably was, and it ignored the spell like it was yesterday's dinner. Still, Astral Bind did something. That something was cause the Phalanx to change tactics and instead use Mountainmaker on the party. That wasn't exactly an attack you can dodge. Ahahaha what.
"Watch the skies." Sobbing mentally, Renai did the only thing he could in this situation. He dropped his staff and pulled out his woodworking tools, making a quick judgment. Quick Construction was activated as quickly as the player could manage, throwing up a Nightmare Sphere at periodic intervals in order to slow the incoming assault as he worked. What he managed three triangular braces, designed to hold something up. The thing was... Renai owned a wall. His level ten Basic Wall popped up out of his inventory and sat on the triangle braces, forming a house-sized 'shield' that stood upright. In a last ditch effort, Renai threw up a giant makeshift plank-wall-thing on top of his wall to act as a small buffer and then hid behind his wall shield. "Gather up!"Renai periodically threw a Nightmare Sphere through the window to slow incoming rocks down, but walls desummoned to the inventory after taking major damage. And although Renai realllllly wanted this to work, he couldn't stop the entire assault of sky rocks. Certainly, he had managed to stop a lot of it, but the combination of Sentinel stomps and the fact this was an Elite monster dropping rocks like it was hail on them meant that the poor woodcrafter's plan fell short. Only at about the last second though, when the wall desummoned itself and Renai cast Astral Bind on the rock that had done it, catching it before it could smash anyone hanging out with him. Unfortunately, it still moved forward for a meter and smacked the Enchanter right in the face before jerking against the chains and falling to the ground harmlessly. Renai, on the other hand, tumbled across the ground and thumped down uselessly. Wow, that had been a stupid idea. Completely inelegant too. His HP...? 60% remaining. Great. Enchanters really were made of paper. Renai was too dazed by the blow to get up off the ground for a few moments before he attempted to roll himself up into a standing position. Hopefully the rest of the party hadn't been standing directly behind him and had employed his cover for something. Everything he made was completely smashed and unusable, but that was how Quick Construction worked. [Delayed the Golem Phalanx via Astral Bind/Mind Shock, caused it to use Mountainmaker, built a wall/blockade/thing as a defense would block a large majority of the falling rocks (augmented by Nightmare Sphere), got smashed in the face by the end of the volley. End result: Did nothing useful, thrown to the back lines by a rock behind mostly everyone? Phalanx would be free of Astral Bind by the time its Mountainmaker skill becomes a problem, most likely. Weee. Lost 40% of his health by getting smacked in the face.]

(sorry ive been busy if you want me to remove this mail me)
The battle raged as golems rolled in to face the group, the tankers taking the front, and casters throwing in their powers. Aeon found himself observing these lot, they were quick and fast to lock on to their targets but were possibly neglecting their lack of an enemy radar, at any time they could be flanked and closed on it was important to be keeping an eye open for enemies that could close on them, Aeon normally the upfront fighter had withdrawn to an over watch.
As he did so he cast out “Serpent’s Bolt” onto Caerbannog, the ability would cause her to unleash an aura of lightning bolting out at enemies after a few seconds for around 20 seconds it was a good crowd control due to the status effects lightning could cause.
Aeon snuck into the back before beginning to cast an “Orb of Lava” this spell was good for targeting only hostiles and bouncing between them.
An orb of molten fire began to develop and shape as the Sorcerer moved his hands around it.
He scanned his eyes across all the hostiles and throw out the Orb at the enemies.

Anyone with a dirty mind would probably wink and make a joke if they were to read this. Capsule was far from perverted however, and was a little too preoccupied to be making jokes. A few of her missing teammates had reappeared, almost as if they were roused from hiatus due to guilt or free time. Aeon and Stryke had rejoined the fray, but she honestly would not have minded if the former had stayed behind. As for Stryke...well, she had not seen the man in action yet, so she could not say. 'I just hope he sticks around this time.' It was kind of ridiculous how their eight man party had been reduced to half earlier. But whatever. The remaining group should be able to handle the remaining golems easily enough.
Most of the threats had been eliminated by now, so all they had to worry about were the golem sentinels and the Phalanx. The sentinels were a great nuisance, what with their unending stomping, which made staying upright trickier than it should have been. Capsule leaned tp the side, her arms thrown out to the sides for balance. 'Freaking…' There was a sound of frantic digging somewhere behind her, presumably from a nervous Fiver. The large golems made him nervous, and rightfully so. "It's ok, Fiver," she muttered to console the frightened rabbit. "I won't allow them to hurt you." The end of her staff briefly twinkled with magical energy. Before she could move to intercept the sentinels, however, Renai threw them off balance with Inversion.
She watched as the male Enchanter did what he could to slow down the Phalanx. His use of Astral Bind must have pissed the golem off or something, for now it was moving into its Mountainmaker. 'Oh geeze,' was all Capsule could think as her body froze up on her. Fiver screamed out in horror behind her, and the sounds of digging increased. Had she been able to turn around, she would have seen that the rabbit had half of his upper body buried into the ground. Had it not been for Renai's quick thinking, Capsule would have ended up in a similar position, albeit with the help of some heavy metal rocks.
The man used his wall and a hunk of wood she could not rightfully call a wall on top of it, using them to form a wooden shield for when Nightmare Sphere was exhausted. Capsule did not question his actions; she dived without question near the odd construction, and threw her arms up to cover her head. Renai's improvisation reduced the amount of damage the rest of the party would have taken, though this came at the cost of his health. Capsule winced as the man took a small boulder to the face and tumbled across the ground. She wanted to go over to him and see how he was doing, but there was still the issue with the Phalanx that needed to be settled.
Capsule raised her staff and aimed it at the golem, activating the strongest Tier 2 skill available to her at the moment: Thorn Bind Hostage. She wasn't sure if it would be very effective against an Elite monster, but at least it slowed the golem down some. Its new target soon became the thorny vines latched onto its legs. Capsule used Astral Bind in a further attempt at restricting it, and then used Inversion on the now grounded sentinels. They spun around and fell over themselves when they tried standing. 'A little more to the left, you fools.' One of the sentinels slammed into the back of the Phalanx's legs, causing the golem to stagger a bit. "Now!" This was as good a time as any for the DPS' and tanks to take out the sentinels while the Phalanx was distracted.

That’s what he needed to concentrate on, as they were the highest levels of golems that were around. If they planned to succeed in this quest, they needed to focus down those two. The two at the left, he was too far away from to be of any use, so he had to rely on the rest of his party to take them down. He had to help whoever was in the front, and that was Saber. He had the strength to dispatch the golems with ease, but the phalanx wasn’t something any of them had faced before. It was the first time the adventurers had gone up against something so large, so destructive, and so unreal. Even with the large level gap, Ryuu hoped he’d be able to help Saber just a little bit in destroying the Phalanx that was ahead of them. He ran as fast as his legs were allowed to move, kicking up dust in his wake. His dagger drawn to pit steel against rock, hoping that steel would prove to be the victor against an unlikely combo. Earth usually dulled sharp metals, but with his skill and his experience against the smaller cohorts of these larger phalanxes, he hoped to at least best the golems. As soon as he got into range of the Phalanx and the Sentinels, Ryuu used [Quick Draw] on a sentinel in order to close the gap and to help Saber with doing damage to the sentinels and the phalanxes.
With the support of Capsule and her forcing one of the sentinels to crash into the phalanx. It seemed that the plan was to destroy the lower level golems first. He did so, moving away from the distracted Phalanx and falling sentinel that would allow him to do much more damage to it than he would have expected the same attack to do against the Phalanx.

Do you believe in ghosts? A low snarl followed by a heavy heartbeat in his throat made Saber hesitate. His knees quivered, his body burned, and his vision blurred. He felt the two blades he held shake in his hands as the Golems continued to beat down on the two weapons he held up as shields. Dust fell on his shoulders, stone struck his cheeks, and his health decreased steadily before jumping back up every few seconds. Yet, it was enough to keep the man from acting. He stood by and watched the scene just beyond the three, massive stone bodies. The Golem Phalanx, the field boss in the entire zone, appeared and immediately began its assault on Saber’s allies. There were only a few other Golems left aside from that Phalanx, but its single appearance made something inside of Saber’s stomach churn. The sheer sight of the beast made him nearly collapse; why? Why was he feeling so… pathetic?!
The player grit his teeth together and as the three Golem sentries slammed their fists onto his blades once more, Saber dropped to a knee; the level fifty broke under the pressure and his leg gave way. He winced at the feeling as he hit the ground and shut his eyes. Why was he feeling so weak? After all of that training, all of that fighting… why was he giving up now?! WHY?! The man nearly shouted the word but he held it back in his throat. No, it was forced back. Why was he lying to himself? The massive clump in his neck which was slowly suffocating him blocked him from saying anything. He could scream, he couldn’t shout, he couldn’t even pray. The man was forced to kneel as the Golem Sentries pounded on him. There was no way out now, was there…?
“Are you done?” Saber opened his eyes and clutched his swords. No, he wasn’t done…
“Then get up. Finish what you started. Or are you too much of a little bitch?” Snarling at the thought, Saber could feel something squeezing on his shoulders. His eyes burned and his adrenaline began to flow. Something squeezed his body, wrapping around his limbs and constricting him. It felt as if someone was attaching strings to him.
“Weak.” It was an almost abstract feeling as Saber’s knee began to lift off the ground. The Sentries pounded on him harder, their attacks increasing in ferocity. Yet he continued to rise. The player’s hands clutched his blades tight and metal grinded against each other from the pressure. What was this… powerful feeling? Saber wasn’t moving, nor was he wishing to… but he was. It was like he was a toy and something was moving his limbs for him. What…. was that…?
“I will not die here.” Then, Saber’s mind went blank. His body felt light, his vision blurred to the point of near blindness, and his hearing was filled with the sound of ringing bells. Had he been hit with some sort of spell…?
“Shut up you babbling fool!”
The feeling of wind whisked at Saber’s face and his clothes were tugged at by the same force. Was he moving? He couldn’t tell. It was a strange sensation though. What was going on?!
The bells in his ears began to weaken. He heard… chopping? No that was slicing. He could hear slicing as the world whirled around in front of his blinded eyes. Strain increased on his arms and sharp objects struck his face. Rocks? Or dust maybe? The man tried to whimper in fright, but nothing came out. He couldn’t open his mouth! Even his nose was clamped shut! Was someone suffocating him?! Help! Someone! Help! The man frantically tried to look around but he couldn’t see anything! The world was nothing but white and green mashed together with a tinge of yellow. Was that the sun?! Please be the sun!
“Did you not hear me?! I said shut up!” A loud bang echoed over the sound of the ringing bells followed by a heavy breeze from that direction. More sharp and heavy objects brushed against the man’s face, but only for a brief moment before air took over again. Saber was about to break when he heard two more of those loud explosions. This time they were behind him. There was no feeling of being hit afterwards like he had anticipated, so many he had not been targeted that time?
“Now then…” Suddenly, the clutching feeling on Saber’s body began to fade, releasing him from whatever hold he had been in. The bells in his ears dissipated, his vision began to return, and the heavy feeling of life returned. Within three seconds, Saber was shoved back into the world of Elder Tale from whatever plane of existence he had been thrown to. At that same moment, he collapsed again. His lungs burned due to a lack of oxygen, his muscles ached with huge amounts of fatigue, and he nearly threw up from the tense feeling in his throat.
“Next time, I won’t be so kind…” A low snarl escaped Saber’s lips as he felt something dark recede into his mind. He couldn’t picture what it was in his mind, but he could feel it. There, somewhere, was something massive. It was angry and the sheer knowledge of it being there made Saber shake. What… was that?
Saber dug his two swords into the ground and slowly pulled himself back up to his feet. He stared at the ground and breathed heavily as he did so, barely able to stand because of how shaky his legs were. Glancing over his shoulder, the player could see three piles of items there; the Golem Sentries. Did he kill them? Before he could answer the question, the man heard a thud and looked up to see the Phalanx attack the Enchanter; Renai. It threw a massive boulder at the other player. The sight caused Saber to wince, but there wasn’t a loud bashed followed by screaming. The following noise was more like a thud or something. When Saber looked back up, he saw that the Enchanter had been tossed a few meters and the wall thing he had built was demolished. The final straw was a sight of the player’s new health; sixty percent.
The Assassin hissed at the sight and pulled his blades out of the ground. He stumbled a little to the right and then swayed to the left as he took a step forward. When he took one more, Saber nearly collapsed. Yet he held himself up and continued his slow, steady walk forward. His body grew numb as he watched the Phalanx attack his allies, and his blood pulsed with anger. The other players assaulted the massive beast, striking it with magical attacks while using their own strikes to deal damage. Saber simply watched and dragged himself closer, closer… closer… Walking steadily, the man breathed heavily and erratically, unable to catch a rhythm as anger filled his veins.
“Hey… Stone face…” Saber growled as he came to a halt only a few paces behind the Golem Phalanx. The beast didn’t acknowledge him as it focused on the other players whom had gathered more hate to them. This made Saber even angrier. It dared to not notice him?!
“HEY! I’M TALKING TO YOU!” Saber barked before his blades became laced with poison. His body began to glow a dim blue color and he sighted in on the back of the Golem’s neck. The world blurred for only a second and then three more skills chained together as he burst forward into the air. Quick Draw allowed the player to shoot through the air towards the Golem. The next skill, Assassinate, activated as Saber surged forward. His blades flashed forward through the air and buried themselves into the back of the Golem Phalanx’s neck. Upon impact the stone wound burst open with a dark, maroon colored blood splatter which sprayed out into the air all around the assassin. Due to his proximity to the animation’s projection range, the Assassin became covered in the blood and several drops splattered across his display. In addition to blood, the ‘CRITICAL’ moniker flared as the Phalanx’s health bar as part of it was shattered. The two skills Saber had used in tangent with the others were Stealth Strike and Atrophy Break. The massive creature resisted the poison, but it was slowed ever so slightly by the Atrophy Break and its rock-hard defense was paper to the assassin because of his stealth attack skill. It wasn’t much, but it would be enough.
Sliding his blades out of the wound slowly, blood continued to leak out of the two holes for a few seconds before the animation reached its conclusion. Saber used that like a trigger as he jumped upwards. Deadly Dance activated as the player began to twirl slightly, and the man spammed it as he increased his spinning. He only jumped a few feet into the air, but it was enough. As he plummeted back towards the ground, the man’s blades sliced down the front of the Phalanx, ripping and slicing through the thick shell of stone like butter. The stone beast sneered with anger as dozens of deep cuts rippled down its body, and Saber was quite ready for its retaliation as he hit the ground. The Golem’s health dropped further, hitting the Half-way mark as Saber’s feet touched the ground.
The response from the Phalanx came quick and the massive beast dropped its fists on Saber’s location furiously in an attempt to catch the player off guard. It was a fool though, as Saber was ready. The moment the Phalanx moved and started to throw its fists, he bolted to the right and sliced through the two legs of the massive beast, his swords carving deep into its limbs. After his short combo, Saber twirled about his heels and jumped forward, latching onto the Phalanx’s back with his blades. As if climbing a mountain, the player scaled the beast’s back. The Golem twirled about and tried to grab onto the small annoyance, but Saber made his ascent quick and he reached the head of the beast in only a few seconds. There, Saber dug in.
Targeting the place where he had before with his skill Assassinate, the player wailed on the Golem Phalanx’s neck. His blades carved deeper and deeper with every strike, cutting through the stone joint rapidly. The Phalanx’s health didn’t drop fast, but it was dropping, and it was getting angry. The creature rumbled loudly in anger as the mad player sliced at the back of its neck. Reaching to its right, the beast grabbed a hold of a massive boulder, lifted it, and then slammed it down onto the spot where Saber was. The Assassin grinned at the sight and waited until the last second before slipping his feet back and letting himself fall. As the Golem struck itself in the back of the head with the massive stone, Saber’s blades cut two lines down its back as the player dropped to the ground. The Phalanx stumbled forward because of hitting itself and rocks rained down on Saber’s position. The player ducked his head a little and withstood the impacts on his back for a few seconds before darting forward again.
As several of his skills relit and were ready to be used again, Saber keyed almost all of them again and squeezed the hilts of his blades. With his eyes focused on the Golem, the player’s body glowed a bright blue from the effects of Stealth Strike as he shot forward because of Quick Draw. Yet, he kept his eyes focused on the back of the Phalanx’s neck. The skill, Fatal Ambush, ignited and the man stabbed his weapons into the spot once again into the beast’s neck. Another Critical hit marker flared in the man’s vision and the Phalanx’s health plummeted further. It was nearly finished now, Saber just need fifteen seconds…
Saber grinned wide as the murderous thoughts of killing this stone bastard flooded the man’s mind and he could see the ending. Yanking his swords free, Saber began to laced the back of the Phalanx’s neck with lines once more, but he began to walk forward at the same time, hitting different spots as to keep the damage steady. A timer ticked on the side of Saber’s display and he smiled wider and wider as the number became lower and lower. The Golem Phalanx’s health dropped from thirty percent to twenty eight, twenty six, twenty four! Then it stood up and swung at the man on its head, throwing two chunks of rocks at the man. Saber moved backwards to avoid one, but his left side was struck by another. The impact forced the player to spin and he started to fall, but he used it to his advantage. Keying Deadly Dance once again, the player rotated quickly and sliced his way down the Phalanx’s back until he hit the ground. Five seconds.
Hopping backwards, Saber twirled his swords and then shoved them into the ground. The skill, Shadow Bind, activated and massive black tendrils shot forth from the Phalanx’s shadow. They wrapped themselves around the massive beast and locked it into placed for but a moment before the nullification message activated. The tendrils dispersed. USELESS! No matter. Saber withdrew his blades and his body glowed blue. Three...
Narrowing his eyes on the Golem’s back , the man took a step forward and inhaled deep. Two…
Squeezing the hilts of his blades tight, his eyes narrowed. His vision blurred and his ears began to ring. One…
Like a bullet, Saber flew forward and buried his blades into the massive creature’s back. Blood sprayed out into the air, coating the player in the thick liquid as the deadly animation of the man’s skill Assassinate was keyed once more. Saber remained there, partially standing on the Phalanx’s back as the massive health bar of the beast drained rapidly from both the skill and a bleeding effect that was caused to the player’s weapons being dug in. Though, remaining on the Phalanx’s back wasn’t necessary anymore. The creature was already too heavily damaged and it was only standing due to the death animation lagging slightly. The beast released a snarl, and Saber felt the subtle vibration shake his body, but his mind was… stuck… He felt lost in his own world. The Assassin was scared, afraid of what had just happened to him. He felt as if he was in a dream. The aggression he had felt earlier, followed by the hatred which burned in his veins… it was frightening to have felt such a thing.
As the Phalanx began to collapse, Saber pulled his blades free and hopped away from it, staggering slightly and nearly falling as he did so. The man felt… weird… He didn’t want to feel that again. Ever. That lust for blood. It was… it was too much. Saber had been angry before and he had felt the need to kill, but not like that. He had never wanted to see the blood of his enemy plastered on the floor. He had never wanted to make a creature scream. He had never wanted to bring pain so something so badly. Before, he just wanted to make things quick. He wanted to avoid a painful death as much as possible out of thankfulness for his enemy. Yet, he was just so eager to make the Golem Phalanx cry. He was so happy to see blood! No, that wasn’t him. That couldn’t have been him! No! NO! THAT WASN’T WHO HE WAS!
“I… I’m not a murderer… I… No…” Saber mumbled to himself as he looked down at the blood on his clothes. It was fading due to the effect of Assassinate dissipating, but it was burning into the man’s mind much quicker. He could barely stand as he looked at himself. That was he looked at his blades, and then his allies. “This… no… No…” Saber sheathed his swords, pulled up his menu and slammed on the button which removed himself from the party. He couldn’t stay here. No, he needed to leave. He had to go. Far away. He needed to get away from this place.
“T-Thanks for the party!” Saber shouted before turning around. Without a look behind, Saber bolted to the right and dove into the treetops of the forest nearby. He needed to leave. He needed to sleep. No wait, he needed to eat first. No, maybe he should bathe. He had to get the blood off. Or maybe he should send apology messages. Could that wait? Should he wait? What if he did? Would they be angry with him? No. He should wait. What he did care? They didn’t care. They were just players. Right? No. No they weren’t just players. They were people. Oh god, and he had just left them alone. Should he go back? Yes! No! No he should go sleep. No wait what about eating? He needed to eat. But he had to sleep first. What about bathing though? No, who cares about eating. He needed to sleep. Right? Yes. He had to send apology messages!
“Oh my god…” Saber said to himself… He had just committed murder…

[attr="class","quest"] Sarum Expedition Combat MissionAs we get closer toward the city of Sarum, monsters seem to continuously spawn. Your job is to team up with fellow Adventurers and take down your fair share of monsters so that we can expand the camp ever so closer toward the city borders. NPC: Eddison List of Objectives:- Kill Golem Sentry Lv 2: 1/10 - Kill Golem Sentry Lv 10: 3/3 - Kill Golem Sentinel Lv 15: 2/2 - Kill Golem Phalanx Lv 20: 1/1 - Expand Sarum Expedition Camp: 1/1 Participants:[Main_Tank] Saber Lv52 [Sub_Tank] @dindeen Lv32 [Sub_Healer] Capsule Lv37 [DPS] Kumori Lv19 [DPS] Renai Lv16 [DPS] Stryke Lv25 [DPS] Aeon Lv14 Equipped: Windsor Antiqua Ooyoroi | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) - :: - Skill: --- With all the things that happened quickly around her, the wolf-hair had a few things to note as she dove beneath Renai’s construct, soon found herself watching Saber’s one-on-one against the Golem Phalanx and the assassin’s subsequent departure. First, don’t mess with Enchanters. The skills did not make much sense to the samurai, but she did get the gist of it. That if you don’t want your world to be turned upside down and your organs turned inside out, don’t mess with people like Capsule. The other enchanter in the party was a whole different story. He built a frickin’ construct in a matter of... well, in an unbelievably short amount of time. A woodcrafter then? Still unexpected and totally awesome, especially with the fairly manly way of taking a boulder to the face.
Second, all the damage dealers on their party had nothing on Saber. Maybe it was his level, maybe it was his custom weapons, maybe his combat experience or a combination of everything. Whatever it was that made him that strong, Caerbannog knew to stay out of his way. He just shanked a Golem Phalanx after all. And so even when the assassin ran away with a rather urgent tone, the samurai thought only to wave goodbye and nothing else.
At that, their trip to Sarum was over. While it was a good lesson on keeping a large group together, the samurai thought it best to not repeat such a thing. The lack of actual healers, only having one tank, the large gap between levels- it did not do well for the party as a whole. But Caerbannog was indeed grateful to have gone on her first Sarum expedition with capable adventurers. It did not end up in any untoward incidents and so she motioned for the remaining members of the party to head back to the Sarum Expedition Camp. She hopped over to the enchanters, first to Renai to inspect his face and then to Capsule to help her up if necessary. Once she was certain that they were fine, Caerbannog went over to Kumori and would walk back up to the camp with him. The party could then report to the camp personnel, probably some landers, that they had cleared that way of a Golem Phalanx and so the camp could expand a little to that direction. Caerbannog would wait for everyone to say their farewells and lastly, she would disband the party.

Super late exit post goooooooooo. Maybe that was a little hypocritical but it had been the last round and no new action was happening anyway, so this particular thing had been put on low priority of the sake of timely posts elsewhere. And also keeping up on other things. Anyway. The real point here was that some of the things that happened actually deserved a proper response and reaction that people could take to be ICly canon later. Or something like that. Renai's vision wavered as he groaned and put one hand on his head, trying to keep track of what had happened. ...What had Aeon done? Ah, Shock. Okay. You wa shock. Uh. He honestly had no idea how Aeon had managed to avoid the Mountain Maker, but that was fine too. It wasn't exactly a dodgable skill, but maybe if you were super hecka awesome or really lucky. It seemed like Kumori was out there in the wild and had tackled some golems too. Hmm. Maybe that close range approach was what had saved him, as the Phalanx probably wouldn't mountainmaker its own allies, right? Right. Pretty smart, jerkface. Saber... yeah okay Renai didn't care. Too much stuff. Not enough care. You go have that mental breakdown after donning hero personality and being an anti-hero or whatever. Renai was frankly a little confused considering the sheer 'what even' nature of Saber's actions but it looked like he had avoided Mountainmaker the same way Kumori had. Moving on. It looked like Caerbannog was hanging out to check if he was alright, to which he gave a proper nod and a firm expression plus a thumbs up. He was fine, but he certainly appreciated the chibi samurai's concern. That was awfully kind of her. Renai took a moment to flop back on the ground and stare at the sky for a while before sighing and elegantly retrieving his broken wall. He was going to have to fix that later. Still, he took a moment to glance at Capsule and throw her a proper nod and a thumbs up as well. She had done a pretty good job, all things considered, and had been of a bit more help than Renai had. It was obvious that her higher level and probably greater experience was a large factor in all of this, but those alone couldn't do everything. Renai was a little impressed and a little appreciative that Capsule was not a boastful, arrogant jerkoff. He gracefully bowed to the party before starting the slow walk to Sarum, not making any move to nurse his head. The blood just dripped straight from his head down, but it was almost like it wasn't there to the super elegant and graceful butler-maid-person. Yeah. Wooo. Anyway he was appreciative and this had all gone fairly well, although he was probably going to have to pick up the pace a bit and stop slacking off if he was going to keep being at least somewhat needed. Anyway, Renai, awaaaaaaay. After making sure no one got left behind, of course. And mentally crying for the death of his poor wall.
