Hiro ran to catch up with the formula that had been so kindly thrown towards him. He caught it in his hand, and drank it right up. The health returned swiftly, as he turned to give a nod to the Enchantress. "Thanks, Capsule!" He shouted, as he turned ahead to face the giant plant. However, to his surprise, the giant plant wilted and withered. Hiro stopped for only a moment, before wondering if this was truly the end of the field boss. He was a bit more convinced when the "Collect your Rewards!" icon began flashing on his Heads-Up Display. He started to walk over towards it, but it seemed that Oxford was already on the move. Hiro really wondered if that was it, but then he realized just how powerful a group they had. A level 55, a 43, a 36, a 31, and a 25, three of which being tanks. One was a DPS, but they weren't really doing as much damage as the tanks. The last one was an Enchanter, which was sure to give them more of an edge in battle. Hiro relaxed a bit, still watching the wilted plant.
And, just like a hooker after her first job of a Friday night, Mayahuel got back up and began to target its next victim. Who just so happened to be Oxford, as it was. This would give Hiro the perfect opportunity to run on up and deal a boatload of damage. But, he felt that one thing was wrong, and he knew exactly what it was: Oxford and Capsule were still in a line. Hiro's eyes widened, as he began to bolt directly for the Enchantress. Sure, Oxford may be a tank, and Hiro had no doubt that the man could withstand a full blast or three from Solar Beam, but he doubted that the support on their team would do even half as well. Enchanters were notoriously known for having little to no armor score, even if they have armor on. What worried him the most was the fact that Mayahuel had just deceived them all by pretending to have died. Maybe this semi-advanced AI would pull another diversion by pretending to focus on Oxford, when his real target would be Capsule, who seemed to be the only healer and support in the general area.
Dashing as fast as he could, Hiro ignored the Uproots that were slamming into him. He needed to get Capsule out of there, and fast. He finally reached her, and immediately picked her up, running away from the area of potential effect from the Solar Beam. "Sorry for picking you up, but I'm not gonna let anyone take any unnecessary damage, if I can help it!" He said, looking to Capsule for a moment, before turning back up to face the field. He found a good spot to Mayahuel's left, far enough away from the range of Mayahuel's Solar Beam. Even still, he didn't want to leave their support alone, so he decided to stay in a general area around her, if he could help it. It looked like Maya-chan could only use the Solar Beam every so often, so the window in between the blasts would be the best time for Hiro to run in and engage. For now, he'd stay ranged, and protect their support, like a good tank should. He cupped his hands again, and quickly fired off an Aura Dragon Punch to the plant hooker. Of course, this boss probably had expected Hiro to keep attacking it, but Oxford seemed to be its target. Now, Maya-kouhai. Let senpai notice you.

Muse: Another ChanceNotes:/throws the ball in Kumori's courtTags:@dindeen, Data Holder, Hirosame, Kumori & @0x1deaWords:679[newclass=.benetbar]background-color:#050505; border: 2px solid #050505; border-radius: 5px; overflow: hidden; width: 100px; height:6px;[/newclass] [attr="class","benetbar"] [newclass=.benetbar]background-color:#050505; border: 2px solid #050505; border-radius: 5px; overflow: hidden; width: 100px; height:6px;[/newclass] [attr="class","benetbar"] Capsule had been so engrossed with staying alive and harassing the Mayahuel that she had overlooked Oxford's nearby presence, and may have missed Kumori's entirely, had he not spoken to her. It was probably thanks to the Guardian's help that she had not been overwhelmed, but was it alright for him to be giving her cover? Even if the plant was almost dead, she did not want to slow down progress. 'At least his health looks alright.' Healing Kumori now became low priority, since it was the tanks who were dealing the most damage. Things were likely to go south if one of them was taken out.
She blinked at Kumori in confusion when he asked her about removing some debuffs. "Sorry, but that's not my area of expertise." There was no need for her to even rifle through her squid plush, where her array of potions were stored. A counteragent for poison was not available to the masses at the moment, and she had absolutely nothing in her arsenal to cease the damage over time effect the Assassin was experiencing. Maybe she should sit down with him - when they weren;t in the middle of a battlefield - and explain exactly how the Enchanter class worked, so that there were no further misconceptions in the future. Their beloved "Maya-chan" was not patient enough for that little discussion right now.
"Oh!" Another nasty Miasma Cloud came from the dying plant. Now gripping the spare potion in her mouth with a little too much force, Capsule drew the ends of her cloak to her head, much like a sun fearing vampire. Around her the dark orbs summoned by Gehehnna Swarm swirled about, unable to do anything about the poisonous gas.
She crouched lower to the ground, where cleaner air was sure to be found, and peeked through the folds of her cloak to watch as the plant succumbed to a sound thrashing and died, but not without first going out with a "bang". Capsule squinted at the plant in suspicion. Was it really, truly dead? The ensuing fanfare and "Collect your rewards" message seemed to confirm that possibility, but- Capsule gulped as the plant revived itself, a hint of a glow emitting from its twisted "mouth". Just how many health bars did this thing have?! And why the hell had she thought this fight would be so easy? "Nngh." It was definitely time to be stingy with her remaining healing items.
To her surprise and horror, the plant targeted Oxford next, who was now a little too close for comfort. Luckily for Capsule, though, Hiro had the sense to come over and help her, picking her up and carrying her off like a large, helpless baby. Capsule held onto her fellow redhead, too out of it to complain or struggle. It was a good thing he had as well, too. Poor Oxford had gone from "healthy" to "sort of healthy," and may soon end up in the "oh shit I'm screwed" zone. If Capsule had tried to do anything while in his vicinity, Maya was bound to take notice of her and strike out. "Danke," she said, once they were out of the field of poison and despair. Detox kicked in and began working its magic against the poison effect, reducing its duration by half.
Seeing Oxford hold his ground was reassuring, as were Caer's and Hiro's actions. She only wished she could say the same of their Assassin. Wasn't his class supposed to rank highest in terms of physical damage output? Then again, they did have longer cool downs. "Pweh." Her jaw was starting to ache from holding the potion in her teeth, so she spat it out and shoved it back into the squid plush, her free hand now seeking the hilt of her kukri, which had seen very little battle and was more used for survival purposes. Still, it was a weapon that was good for hacking vegetation apart. If any of those nasty little roots came her way, they would be in for a nasty surprise.

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0603 OOC Notes: It's not that Kumori is weak... it's that he didn't attack the field boss in its last turn. That's what DH meant by "didn't do much of anything in terms of assault" since he ran away that round of posts... Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | Now, it wasn’t that Kumori didn’t do a lot of damage. He should’ve done a sizable amount of damage with an Assassinate that was paired with Stealth Strike. This had drawn the attention from Mayahuel earlier. What was most likely misinterpreted was the fact that he did not go after Mayahuel after being focused by the giant venus fly trap. Why? He was an Assassin, and because they were not meant to tank, it was dangerous for him to keep Hate placed upon him. He needed to escape and needed it to change targets. He was using his speed to his advantage, and with the Miasma still in the surrounding area, Ryuu would be at a severe disadvantage with no way to protect himself from damage because of the poison. It wasn’t that Kumori didn't do a lot of damage, it was that he was limited to how long he could stay near the field boss. With no potions on him to use and no healers to heal him of damage, it was wreckless to stay in the miasma for too long. After every Stealth Strike, to deal the most damage without incurring too much damage on his own, he would go in and out every 10 seconds and hopefully not becoming the priority for the field boss.
The enchanter had no way of removing these things, nor did she have any potions to help him. All he could do was attack, and with a lack of potions on his side, he’d have to be wary. He wasn’t sure how many lives this plant had, but he honestly hoped that they could finish it as soon as possible. The longer the party dragged this out, the more dangerous it got, and because Ryuu was not willing to stay in the Miasma. He hoped to delay the increasing of potency of the toxins when he did this.
The howl of whatever plants that howled made, pierced through the air. The thought of it dying was probably the best part of the fight, the death of the field-boss. Did anyone else think it was too easy? 10 seconds to kill a field boss? There was something wrong with that, right?
Well answers were soon given when Mayahuel came back to life, her Miasma still present and her love and hate all concentrated on one person, their weakest tank, Oxford. Well, when he got all the attention from their Kouhai, it wasn’t fun at all, and now that Oxford was there, taking all of the attention, it would be perfect timing for Ryuu to make another assault. Guerilla tactics was the name of the game, and Assassins were the best at it. [Quick Draw] was used as a means to close the gap between him and Mayahuel again. Successive to his first attack, he activated [Stealth Strike] and promptly after used [Deadly Dance]. It didn’t matter if he attacked from the side (which is where he did attack) and the back, because neither skill provided an extra bonus for attacking the back (unlike Assassinate). After his attacks, if he had enough time, he’d activate [Accel Dance] in order to speed up his attacks. He’d attempt to get in a few slashes in before jetting out of the Miasma, unless of course the Miasma disappeared.
It was best not to underestimate the Assassin. It was the strongest of all the Weapon Specialist classes, and so it was impossible for him to do less damage than the tanks, even if the Monk was a DPS tank. He was doing what he could with the resources he was given.

After leaving the mist, there is an additional damage over time effect for 10 seconds. - Acidic Sap: Shoots a stream of concentrated acid. The target suffers constant damage over time for 10 seconds. Their defense is also halved during this duration. - Solar Beam: Collects light energy and concentrates it into a laser attack. Enemies struck by the attack suffer heavy light damage. It has a 5 second cast time and a range of 10 meters. Description: A much-feared field boss that spawns once per day from 12-1 PM in the deepest part of the Savill Grove, in the middle of a flower patch that appears to be perpetually withered. It is a blood red carnivorous flytrap of roughly twenty feet, which attacks with a plethora of attacks. Its primary attack causes sharp roots to emerge from the ground and impale its foes. Secondary attacks include a spray of poisonous mist and blasts of concentrated acid. Finally, its ultimate attack is the ability to gather light particles to fire a powerful beam toward the foe. This monster is as equally powerful as it is rare, making it extremely difficult for any player to fight it alone. Fortunately, it is easy to spot from a distance, so you probably won't end up accidentally stumbling on it.
Oh, senpais, please don't fight about who is giving Maya-chan the most attention! Mayaheul has time for all her senpais! And @0x1dea. Speaking of her senpais (and Oxford), it seemed like they wanted her attention. How nice! No one really seemed to be tricked by the fly trap's trap (except maybe Capsule?), a fact that her programmers would surely be sad about, but perhaps they were either overestimating Mayahuel or underestimating themselves. Games were made to be beaten. If a game could not be beaten, could it really be considered a game? Well, Mayaheul wasn't here to lecture adventurers on the philosophy of gaming or their own attitudes, she was here to wreck face. Even if she was a hooker plant. So rude. It seemed all her senpais were doing a little posturing, but the result was fairly simple. Oxford's Aura Sabers and @dindeen's Samurai skills drew a great deal of aggression, but not enough for Kumori to go unnoticed. The thing about Mayaheul was that when it shed its skin, it got a little bit more dangerous and a little bit faster. Everyone's seen those shounen anime heroes that power up when they get mad, right? They only unleash their true power after they've been pushed around and put under stress? Well, if there was a hero of justice, it was Mayahuel-chan! Mayahuel-super-transformation gooooooo~Or something like that. The fly trap didn't avoid Kumori's strike (it couldn't, actually), but it did have the newly found speed to swing its head around like a tetherball and attempt to smack the assassin straight in the face. Miasma Cloud was put back into effect again and its focus was split between Caerbannog and Oxford for skill targets now, even though Hirosame had gone and launched an Evil Boss Monster Laser Beam attack at her. She was an ally of justice, a super magical girl, okay?! So rude. In the end, Caerbannog's repeated attacks and windy evil aura caught Mayahuel's attention most of all. An important point to note was the following. Although Mayahuel was pretty resistant to wind attacks, her pretty poison powers were not. The gas was pulled in towards the Samurai, resulting in the 'center' of the miasma becoming the Samurai instead. She'd take more damage from the concentrated gas, but the further away her allies were, the less damage they'd take. Once she dropped the technique, of course, the miasma would spread once more. Anyway, the hero of justice had some evil enemies to defeat. To protect love and justice and hearts everywhere! Being a super hero was pretty tiring, now that Mayahuel thought about it. Root Spike. Uproot. Acidic Sap. Solar Beam. Mayahuel unleashed her attacks in succession and charged up her solar beam, the reddish tint of the plant beginning to crack and shed like a second skin. It was certainly a little bit strange, to see the plant 'shedding', but what had once been green had turned red and now it was this ugly shade of bruised purple. Like a squished grape. You just thought Mayahuel would look good squished on the ground, didn't you? How rude! Just for that, the hero of love in question raised her maw straight to the sky for her solar beam, refusing to let the attack release just yet. Another health bar down. Two more to go? Well, it wasn't like those evil boss monsters and enemies knew that. She was the hero, after all.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Mawarufuusen (C2) | Tsurugibunshin (C3) Thankfully her party mates didn’t just stand there but instead moved in to hit on Maya-chwan some more. The monk was sensible enough to help Capsule get away from the Solar Beam, but Oxford had to take some attacks to almost the face. While the boss was distracted, Kumori unleashed his own combos on poor little Maya-chan who soon shed her schoolgirl act and became a magical girl of justice. Fortunately, Caerbannog’s attacks were enough to make the now-purple Sailor Mayahuel turn its attention towards her though the boss still attacked the other members of the party. Perhaps it was using a randomized method for attacking?
As for the effects of Mawarufuusen, the samurai did notice that the Miasma Cloud thinned on parts which were further away from her while its poison gathered around the eye of the ace move. Caerbannog was getting pretty tired what with all that spinning of a weapon which was four-fifths her height, but she kept it up for as long as the chain timer would allow. Her health fell quickly and the samurai coughed up every now and then; poison to the face was never good for anyone, but at least she could lessen the burden on her party mates. She was a tank after all. If Maya-chwan was a hero of justice, the samurai would be somewhere along Chaotic Good... unfortunately, their views clashed: Caerbannog wanted to get rid of a poisonous field boss while Maya-chan was, well, Sailor Mayahuel.
With Mawarufuusen still active, the other party members should have had some time to throw in more attacks. Before the chain timer ticked off completely, the samurai pulled out a third chain- [Tsurugibunshin]. She focused mana around her person and her weapon to create afterimages which could hit the target as if they were solid objects. As the poison began to scatter in the surrounding area due to Mawarufuusen ending, Caerbannog moved in towards the field b oss. Once it was within her range, she slashed the mob’s body diagonally from right to left, and then she flipped her blade’s direction and slashed diagonally upwards. Caerbannog then jumped back as she anticipated an attack due to her proximity to Maya-chwan. If circumstances allowed it, the wolf-hair would repeat the same attack twice with the afterimages dealing around twice the damage compared to her normal attacks. It’s highly possible that the magical girl would be able to predict her moves, but with her ace moves on cooldown and the poison whittling away at everyone’s HP bar, Caerbannog had to use her skills to their maximum capacity.

Oxford continued his relentless offensive, firing a couple more Aura Sabers at the behemoth plant as it's crimson red skin peeled away, a sickly, poison-y looking plant skin showing underneath. No sooner had the word poison left the narrator's head, Maya-chan had covered the area in yet another Miasma Cloud. It seemed to be concentrated on the Samurai, but it was still enough for Oxford to lose his focus as he began to cough on the toxic fumes.
(Bleh, Maya-chan keeps putting on too much perfume...)
Luckily, the Samurai decided to pretend she was a helicopter, the poison smog lessening a little more and allowing the Guardian to breathe a little easier. He looked back at the rest of the party, making sure nobody was too exposed to the magical shoujo plant's attacks of righteousness. Nobody was too battered, excluding himself. He hoped Resilience would be enough to take the edge off that Solar Beam he took to the almost face.
After verifying that everyone had withstood Maya-chan's antics, he took a look at his own stats, forming a plan of action as he saw his remaining HP/MP.
(Tch, that's not good. Take another hit like that and I'll be in the "shit, I'm screwed" zone...)
MP was also getting low, still a little over half of it left. Oxford used a couple more Aura Sabers on the writhing growth until he was approximately at the halfway mark, opting for physical melee attacks in case he needed to double back for emergency tanking.
A trembling beneath his feet pulled Oxford's attention from his stats back to the battle, dozens of spiky roots erupting beneath Caer's feet. The Half-Alv managed to sidestep most of them, since the main focus of Maya-chan's magical purging powers was on the whooshing Samurai. Just when he thought he was in the clear, Uproot activated, again focusing on the Samurai.
(I'd better get away from her before one of these attacks catches me in the crossfire...)
No dice. One of Uproot's many roots had became enamoured by the Guardian's leg, hugging it tightly as the root clutched it to its vine-like bosom (stalk, whatever you call it). And that thing had a grip as tight as a fat kid's on a candy bar.
Gobs of the Acidic Sap deluge had also managed to hit Oxford, the nasty stuff sticking to his armor. He could almost feel the effect of the debuff as it sapped away half of his defense, not good for a class that was used to take the heavy hits. The root finally let go after the sap rain had poured, allowing Oxford to move a little further away from the attack radius.
No sooner had he tried wiping the gunk off of him, Maya-chan raised her maw to the heavens, calling upon whatever powers had decided to make her a magical shoujo girl. It must've been the sun, because the familiar sequence of light rays began to shine in her gob.
Whatever powers Maya-chan was calling on was sure to be potent. Oxford braced himself for whatever might come next, watching the HP gauge on his HUD slowly rise as he urged Resilience to work faster. |

Hiro gave a soft sigh, having made sure that Mayahuel wasn't going to start targeting their support. Hiro ran ahead, giving a nod to the Enchantress. The fight was still underway, and much of the health remaining with Mayahuel was still there. However, they managed to knock her into the next stage of colors, turning into a raisin of sorts. Hiro needed to do his part now, and make sure that this boss was going down quickly. He himself needed to focus more on the fighting than the tanking, and when it started to charge up Solar Beam is when he'd switch to tank. But, it looked like Maya-chan wasn't going to show where she was pointing, and held in the charge for a little longer than normal. Now was his chance to strike. He charged ahead and started to punch the beast rapidly. He didn't really care if he was the center of attention for the beast, though, since he had a decent amount of health to begin with. He could take it. For sure.
Hiro's fists were a blinding flash, and every time he flourished his attacks, an Uproot or two would hit him. He ignored it mostly, since they didn't do all that much damage. But, this is about when he saw that the head of the boss started to turn upwards. Maybe this was an opening? Whatever it was, he was going to take it. Hiro launched himself up into the air, thanks to Wyvern Kick, and went for a direct hit on the bottom of the jaw of the enemy. Hiro angled his body, and performed his Aura Kick on the lower jaw of the field boss, before springing back off from the head. Hiro landed a short distance away, and struck a defensive pose. Whatever this thing was thinking of doing, Hiro didn't necessarily like it. He activated Iron Body to up his defenses a bit, as his body turned a metallic silver color. He crouched a bit lower, waiting for Mayahuel to make her move. He didn't mind waiting it out, since it was ultimately better to be safe than sorry in this kind of a situation. And, maybe Capsule would prefer to not use all her healing supplies on just him in the end. Who knows? Maybe it'll help out the entire team if he stays defensive for now. That would be nice, wouldn't it?

With him absent from the "front line," their DPS had weakened. This plant was seriously annoying - how many times would they need to kill it before it finally gave up and left them alone? Repeatedly beating it into the ground was the only solution, and although she could not do much in the way of damage, she could still try. The Gehenna Swarm would make sure of that.
She waited until Hiro and the others were fully engaged with the plant before sneaking in the backdoor, hacking at suspicious looking vegetation with her kukri. Most of these turned out to be regular plants, but she was pretty sure that at least two belonged to Maya - nope, that was just an innocent bystander. Cap felt like a vigilante weed whacker right about now. Was she sorry for it? No. Every single blade of grass within five meters was an accomplice of the Mayahuel. Even the ground could not be trusted; it was housing the vengeful plant's roots. Perhaps murdering the Mayahuel's friends was not such a good idea after all. What if she - why was the plant given a gender - could sense their small cries of pains and pleading?
Capsule casually hacked off the sole living flower in the area. What were the odds of the lesser plants being heard over the sounds of humanoids crashing about and stirring up a ruckus? Speaking of which, Caerbannog and Oxford were being harassed for drawing "too much" aggro, and another cloud of poisonous gas was sent across the battlefield. Capsule wrinkled her nose in distaste as she edged around the plant, making sure to stay away from the aggro heavy tanks.
It was risky to sneak around the Mayahuel like she was doing, putting herself out of immediate view of her companions, but she did not dare to venture close to the plant's body, which it had tried fly swatting Kumori with moments ago. 'Pew pew pew,' she thought as she commanded one of the orbs of Gehenna Swarm to fling itself at the plant. She darted back the way she came, sending the last two orbs after the diabolical plant.
The orbs swarmed around the flower like a small group of world hungry Langoliers, and then all latched onto Maya at once. Capsule came to a stop a small distance away, and aimed the palm of one hand at the plant. While her Gehenna Swarm harassed Maya with a curse debuff, Cap siphoned health from it with Prana Drain, taking more than she needed and more. She had had her fill with the first second of draining, but given the fact that the skill only cancelled when the connection was disturbed, and that this was the best she could hope to do against the monster in terms of "damage" - yeah, screw you, plant. She ideally would be able to steal at least five seconds, which was an estimate of five hundred HP. This dark magic stuff was nice. 'A-hue hue hue~.'

First, they had no idea how many times they were going to be seeing Mayahuel-chwan. What he knew was that she (it is a she right? Or androgynous? Or male? Both?) seemed to show what looked like a solar beam charge up right when she died, which meant that every time she came back alive, she’d attack right after. Ryuu had to wonder if he would be able to draw the Hate and dodge the solar beam type of thing. He had to try, though, and if it didn’t work, well whoever was lucky enough to be the target was in for some fun damage, but Ryuu was risking a lot, planning to dodge it. He had seen the previous attacks, so he was hoping that he’d gained enough information to dodge it. If it was different from before, well, let’s just hope it’s not different from before.
He would do as many attacks as he was allowed, with the usage of [Accel Dance] earlier. Since all of his other skills pretty much took too long to activate or were on cooldown, there was no use in doing much else than to try and attempt to gain kouhai’s attention. Come on Kouhai, Pay attention to Kumori-sempai, your future love. He’ll be sure to stick something into you and pleasure you to death.

Perhaps the most fortunate thing for the Adventurers challenging Super Sentai Mayahuel was that the plant was completely and totally rooted in place. It could neither dodge nor chase down its opponents, meaning that as long as Mayahuel did not defend against an attack or push an opponent back before it got to her, the attack would land. It also lacked any sort of regenerative abilities, so as long as one could out-attrition the boss's many health bars and attrition attacks, they were more or less in the clear. @dindeen and @0x1dea's attacks landed with no problems at all, and even Kumori and Hirosame's attacks seemed to have no difficulty. It might have been thanks to Capsule's Gehenna Swarm, because the closer Mayahuel got to death, the stronger her attacks became. And to answer Capsule's inner question, yeah. Mayahuel felt the cries of her nearby plants. She was a hero of justice, so it was only right that she enact justice. Hiro's Aura Kick forced Mayahuel's plant jaw to spring backwards, like a tetherball that had been shoved in one direction or one of those punching bags that had rounded bottoms. Maya's head swang backwards into the ground, then rebounded quickly to the other side, slamming down and releasing the Solar Beam. At who? At no one, really. She released it at the ground, firing the beam of energy straight into the earth and sending up a great bursting wave of earth, soil, and grass at everyone that was in front of her. Capsule, namely, and anyone near her. Mayahuel wasn't fool enough to just let the Gehenna Swarming Prana Draining super cheater Enchanter just get away with her dark magicks. Dark Magic was not justice. She'd cleanse it with light! Before the Solar Beam finished completely, Mayahuel turned it up to focus it directly on the Enchanter, using the spray of rocks and dirt to slow anyone's attempt to move out of her attack. Although the tanks had made a truly valiant effort, the HP Drain and Stat Debuff coupled with the aggro reset made Mayahuel set her sights on the Enchanter. Only for the one Solar Beam, however, because Caerbannog was clearly no pushover. If Maya was a hero of justice, then Caerbannog was a vigilante of righteousness, was it? Well, that was no good. Mayahuel immediately turned her attention on Caerbannog, but not before swinging its head around in a wide sweeping 360 degree arc, smacking anyone that was too close. Then, straight at Caerbannog, Acidic Sap and Root Spike. Of course, another usage of Miasma Cloud for everyone. Thanks to Capsule's debuff, the attacks were certainly weaker, but the closer an ally of justice got to losing, the stronger they became. Her defenses were kind of trashy though.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Tsurugibunshin (C3) | Iaido | Samurai's Challenge The fight seemed to be going pretty well, or at least as ‘well’ it could be given the circumstances, and the monk was even able to deflect a Solar Beam. Who in Elder Tale would have the guts to double-kick a field boss right on the face? Hirosame. Every party needs a Hiro.
While the party did not have to suffer a Beam to the gut for a while, the attack was able to throw around a covering of earth and rocks all over the place. It was then that things started going wrong and Sailor Maya-chwan directed an attack at one of the more vulnerable members of their group: the enchanter Capsule. The samurai couldn’t move in quickly to intercept that attack since Tsurugibunshin was still active and it disallowed her to use a different ace move. To her relief, the redhead only drew the field boss’ attention for that one move and once it reared its pretty head towards the samurai while simultaneously smacking anyone along the way, it was then apparent that Maya-chwan’s sights (LOL!) was set on the wolf-hair.
Caerbannog’s eyes flashed a bright golden yellow while her ace move Tsurugibunshin’s timer ticked away to its end. She dashed head on towards her opponent; a vigilante of righteousness? Oh.... WWHGD? (what would Hit Girl do) Probably just that. A straight forward attack even as Rock Spikes pierced her legs. Thrust the nagamaki towards the opponent’s- NOPE. Caerbannog dashed to her left side as Maya-chwan made that gut-wrenching ‘face’ whenever it readied an Acidic Sap attack, akin to a kid preparing a spit wad. She slashed her nagamaki from left to her right side as she aimed for the magical girl’s body. With her third chain completed, the wolf-hair sheathed her nagamaki and quickly drew it again to land an [Iaido] strike at Mayahuel while she was still close to the target. The samurai then jumped back and, after a hacking cough due to the Miasma Cloud, she issued her [Samurai’s Challenge] which had just ended its cooldown.

The Solar Beam went right past Oxford, blowing bits of dirt and grass into his face before going straight for the lone Enchanter of the group.
Dammit. If I knew Maya-chan was going for her, I would've tanked that...
It was probably best that he didn't since his defense was starting to return back to normal, recovering from the side affect of the Acidic Sap attack from before. Maybe the auburn-haired individual had anticipated the attack and intercepted it.
Oxford ran back to the plant, deciding to go to the right side when he saw the Samurai dodge the Root Spik--no, the Acidic Sap attack. The Guardian opted for the standard melee attacks, using an Aura Saber whenever his MP managed to stay at/above 50% after the skill had been used.
Giant gashes began to open up on Maya-chan's purple surface, Ox making sure to cut deep to max out the amount of damage he was dealing against the creature.
If I keep this up, the thing might turn and aggro on me...
Oh wait, nevermind. Caer had already issued a Samurai's Challenge as a fresh wave of Miasma Cloud. Knowing that one of the higher-leveled tanks was pulling all the Hate onto herself, Ox went ahead and began to whale on the monster even more. He began to cough as he went back to his original strategy of switching between melee attacks and Aura strikes.
However, even though his hits were landing, they weren't doing as much damage as before.
All this coughing keeps throwing off my focus.
He glanced at his HP bar, making sure his Resilience was holding off the poisoning effects of the miasma surrounding him. The passive skill was still holding up, but Maya-chan must've been taking her vitamins, since Resilience wasn't replenshing as much HP as before.
Probably wouldn't hurt to take a quick breather...
The Guardian pulled out of the purple haze, leaning on his shield as he breathed in the somewhat-fresher air. Sweat began to form on his brow, dripping down his face as he caught his breath.
He hoped he had enough strength left in him to finish this fight. |

As the dust settled in the air around the heroes, it seemed as though the fighting had reached a rather difficult point. Mayahuel had become a much more powerful adversary by this point, which would give Hiro a bit of a run for his money a few times already. That last exchange with the dust being knocked into the air seemed to be a good move on Mayahuel's part, one that he actually could understand and revere as a smart move. In this time, however, Hiro couldn't see the locations of his allies. He had no idea whether or not they were fine in the end. But, since his allies were strong enough as it stood, he could let them be without having to worry too much. As for right now, though, he decided that it was about time that this fight ended. He clenched his fists, and turned up to the giant bulb of a head of the boss, and squinted angrily at it. If Mayahuel believed herself to be a super heroine of justice, it was time for her to meet the equivalent of Batman. And now, it was time for the Dark Knight to Rise.
Hiro activated Wyvern Kick once more, and rose above the dust cloud, glaring intently into the head of the monster, and a smirk reached cross his face. He leaned his body towards the monster, and whirled back his fist. It was time for Hiro to deal the most damage. High time, too. He needed to accentuate the fighting capabilities of the monk class. Hiro's fist collided with the bulb, from which he rebounded off, and fell back into the dust. Futile or not, the dust would still confuse Mayahuel at least a little. He took a few moments to readjust himself, before making his way up the boss's roots, punching and kicking on his way up. He spun his body around in a vertical spin, performing a Somersault Kick to the bulb once again, before flying back into the dust. He repositioned himself to be behind the monster, avoiding the Uproots as they rose, to the best of his ability. A few hit him, of course, but they didn't deal a whole boat-load of damage. At least, nothing worth worrying over.
Now it was time to flourish a bit of his mana. Having expended half of it by now, it would serve him some good to be a little more liberal with his mana. He fell back into the dust, and started to pool his mana together, to use his newest technique which he tried to use earlier: Incarnated Assault. This time, the cover of the dust should let him perform the skill in its entirety. He felt the mana swirl around him, and the golden aura began to form, as the copies of himself flew up into the air, as did he. The copies would hopefully fool the monster a bit, since they were made of concentrated mana. He unleashed the attack from eight different directions, before reeling back and escaping to a safe distance. He sprinted out of the dust, which was just about to settle, and began to charge up an incredibly powerful Aura Dragon Punch. He would expend a total of 30% of his mana, leaving him with only 10% remaining. But, this would be a powerful shot in the long run, and maybe enough to finish off the beast. If that didn't work, he'd use the rest of his remaining mana to tank whatever damage he could. Hiro released the concentrated energy ball, as it grew in the air, and became a much more powerful blast, aimed directly at the immobile midsection of the boss.

Siphoning a decent chunk of health and flinging the curse ridden balls at the man eating plant would of course backfire on her. She just hadn't thought that a Solar Beam to the face would be the end result. Apparently the others could not keep her Hate from overwhelming theirs. Welp. Just how was she going to escape from this one, folks? Easy.
She wasn't.
Capsule barely had time to sob (mentally or out loud) before fragments of the earth erupted around her. She threw her hands over her face just in time to ward off a large chunk of soil, but that was far too ineffective to counter the Solar Beam now thrown in her way. Yeah - a wee Enchanter with only level ten cloth armor to protect her? She was only slightly less squishy with it equipped, but hey - things could have been worse for the Enchanter. Maya-chan could have been curse free and at full strength. That was probably the only thing keeping Capsule's health from plunging too deeply.
Her hands reflexively tightened themselves around her body as the Solar Beam blasted her thin body back a few feet, depositing her onto a hard patch of bare ground when it finally gave out. Capsule lied there gasping for breath, vaguely aware of the smell of roasted flesh in the air. Was someone cooking this close to a field boss? That was reckless. 'But it smells so good. I want it.' Becoming dazed and delirious was a common result from being bonked a little too hard on the head - or, in Capsule's case, blasted by a Kamehameha wave from a plant.
A hard bump from something soft and furry to the forehead brought her back to her senses. This was by Fiver, who had apparently had enough of play time with his fellow rabbits and rushed over to Capsule's aid. There wasn't much the rabbit could do but provide some moral support. Had she had any sense then, she would have realized that it was the Assassin, Kumori, but head injuries were a funny thing. Capsule slowly rolled over onto her side and braced herself on her raw and crispy hands. Her health was in bad shape, and her cloak looked especially tattered (in a "cool" way). Her two favorite skills at the moment were on cool down, so she would have to rely on healing items to replenish her health.
Fiver butted her again and hopped onto her dropped grimoire, as if to say "Do you really want to use that aggro drawing skill again?" The rabbit pawed at the woman to get her moving. She would have waved him away if the small action did not guarantee her falling flat on her face again. Tanks must have it so easy.
Or not. Hello, Miasma Cloud <3. You're doing super swell, I take it~? Fug that. With her pushy rabbit helping her, Capsule was able to crawl (over what felt like thin air at times) out of the miasma cloud and into a patch of fresh air. She retrieved her remaining Medicinal Formula from her squid plush and drank the contents.
Glug glug glug
Her health jumped up to a comfy seventy percent, where it would hopefully stay for however long the battle continued. Another blast like that would probably kill her - once the curse effect wore off. 'I really ought to stay out of the way of aggro.' Or just not overdo things. "Fiver…" She turned towards the rabbit, now curious about his physical state. Fiver was still a low leveled critter, so something like poison or a misplaced root from the Mayahuel could easily kill him...or not.
Perhaps she was just confused, but Fiver was a lot bigger than she remembered. He was also dressed in armor (look at him, he thinks he's people) and was sporting some very human characteristics. The ears and tail remained, though. Capsule squinted at the humanoid rabbit (Taguel?) and carefully reached out to tweak one of his ears. No, that was far too small and short to be a rabbit's ear. And just like that, the illusion was broken. She was holding onto the ear of the very human Kumori.
The Enchanter laughed nervously as she jerked her head away from Kumori's head. That explained how she'd made it out of the miasma cloud alive. Now would have been a perfect time to backflip away. Sticking her head in the ground was another idea, but impractical with Maya still around. Instead, she settled for clasping a hand to her forehead. How embarrassing. "Er, danke - thank you." His health wasn't looking so hot, either. "Here, take this." She flipped a Medicinal Tablet over to him. Was she casually bribing him to not mention this to the others later? Maybe. Maybe she also felt generous. That left her with two tablets and a moon cake, but Maya looked close to dying. 'You've got to risk it for the biscuit.

| Skills: Tags: | : Word Count : 0532 OOC Notes: Quick Slot: Windsor Antiqua Throwing Knives | The Solar Beam on the ground had done well to blast him away from the target, incurring some damage from the blast, but overall being pushed away. As he kept his eyes on Mayahuel, the position of her stalk had told him what it was about to do, and who was in real danger. Their enchanter, Capsule, was in much danger, and Ryuu had to act quickly. He judged from the distance he was at in relation to Capsule and Capsule and Mayahuel, he wouldn’t get there fast enough by normal means. Incurring the damage taken by the Miasma, again, Ryuu activated [Quick Draw] in order to ‘attack’ the enchanter so that he would surpass his dexterity stat and make it to her just in time. His attack? It was basically a grab and push, keeping her in his arms as they both fell to the ground, barely avoiding the blast. Ryuu felt the heat as it passed by his legs. He let out a sigh of relief. They had barely managed to miss the deadly attack. He was about to get up and go back to fighting the large venus fly trap, but Capsule was holding onto him. He was somewhat stuck, as she kept his arms close to her, and thus couldn’t find the leverage to move himself. “Umm..” he let out, trying to make her let go, but for some reason, she looked at him funny. Before he could say anything more, the Half-Alv tugged at his ear. She laughed nervously and then turned away in embarrassment and finally let go of him, so he could move to remove himself from her. He planted his hands on the floor and bent his knees so to gain footing on the ground and get up. He extended his hand to help her off the ground.
“Kein ding- no problem,” he said to her in response. Yes, he knew German. He only went to school there for 4 years after all. If he didn’t know his German, there were other things to question… like how the hell did he live in Germany for 4 years and still live? Yes, classes were taught in English, well most of them anyways. Ryuu took the Medicinal Tablet and had bumped him up a good 20% of his health. He was back to 80% since he took another 5% damage from the Miasma.
“Danke~” he said, saying in his third language. It took him about a year to get used to speaking in German, but it eventually came to him. Why did he go to Germany for school? Well, it was good to network in other countries. And in a place where international students were coming from all over the world, it was only fitting for him to have gone to a country like Germany. Besides, he wouldn’t have met a good deal of people, had he gone elsewhere. He had made some life-long friends in Germany.
Ryuu waited again, trying to wait for the perfect opportune time to take out the Mayahuel, but because his actions had been used to help Capsule, there was not much he could do in terms of attacking this wround.

As had been previously mentioned, Maya-chan simply couldn't move out of the way of the attacks. Even if she wanted to, barring the Uproots that she was already using as often as possible, she had no way to keep the enemies back. Even her tetherball actions weren't very effective and although she had managed to do quite a bit to the various adventurers, she was... Flirting? Flirting while facing the great Maya-chan? In front of your kouhai, you're flirting and getting all touchy-feely?! The AI knew what that seismic imprint was, being a creature of the forest that could sense everything. Even hankypanky. And that was what it looked like. As a result, she lobbed a Acidic Sap glob towards the entangled Kumori and Capsule before having her attention rapidly diverted by Hiro's assault. While the dust did not hide him in the least, thanks to Seismic Detection, the clones and rapid attacks did throw her off. And it wasn't like she could counter anyway. She tetherballed once more, swinging her head around in a wide arc so as to try and knock @0x1dea, Hirosame, and @dindeen away. Her root spikes and uproots were starting to become predictable, it seemed, and as the attacks continued to sail forward, Maya's health dropped into yet another new health bar. The creature's skin shed and purple turned black, making Mayahuel look like nothing more than a dangerous creature of shadows and darkness. Even though it wasn't immune to dark effects and was still under the effects of Gehenna Swarm, the creature let out a hideous screech. Its skin cracked and its roots screamed against the trees in the area, letting out a terrible din as it continued. Maya-chan had reached a new health bar and, as a result, her aggro reset. This was perhaps the scariest part of her AI. Tanks could not consistently hold her aggression, so the squishier party members sometimes ended up suffering. Or so it should have been, had Caerbannog not exploited that AI switch and intelligently used Samurai's Challenge. Although Maya's shed skin had increased her power, she could only target that miserable samurai who had clearly learned her patterns at this point. Straight at Caerbannog, Uproot, Root Spike, Acidic Sap, and of course, a refreshed Miasma Cloud for everybody. As if that wasn't enough, Maya reared her head back and slammed it straight down in an attemp to squash the samurai. If regular attacks weren't working, the AI had to resort to other tricks.

Equipped: Charcoal Yoroi with Pitch-black Yukata | Windsor Antiqua Nagamaki (2H) Skill: Samurai's Challenge (active) | Zantetsuken Each and every one of her ace move was on cooldown. What a drag. Well there was that -one- ace move that she could activate but Caerbannog would have to use it creatively. Kumori-oniichan probably had it tough when he realized that he had to stop attacking at certain turns due to long cooldowns. The samurai sympathized with him a bit and when she noticed his pretty ponytail swishing against the wind as he carried the enchanter off to a relatively safe distance, the wolf-hair decided not to scold oniichan after the fight.
As for her part in the current battle, Caerbannog circled around Dark Maya-chwan and away from the rest of the party so that they would not be caught up in the attacks. She sheathed her nagamaki and braced herself for incoming attacks seeing as she still had enough hit points to spare. Uproot hit, so either Root Spike or Acidic Sap would follow. Well, whaddya know; Mayahuel threw both attacks at the samurai. Another barrage of spikes to her legs did not do well for Caerbannog and her running speed would be much lower than before. Acidic Sap was not any less unpleasant, though she avoided getting all that icky stuff on her eyes and mouth by putting her arms crossed in front of her face.
However, as Mayahuel reared her ugly head around in preparation for a direct attack at Caerbannog, the samurai used [Zantetsuken] to destroy the ground below her own feet. She was able to keep an eye on the binding skill’s duration and so the wolf-hair jumped back just as Maya-chwan’s head reached the girl’s original position. With both hands, the samurai then flipped a sizable piece of the destroyed earth right onto the field boss’ head. It was probably not enough to hold the thing down but Caerbannog was not sticking around to find out. She jumped back right after the ground flip, but if the boss suddenly lunged at her, the samurai would [Parry].

Notes: Where's a white mage when you need one? | | Oh great. Super imminent death transformation time. Maya-chan was now a screeching, wailing flexible nightstick, demonstrating her blunt prowess by delivering a round-house headbutt to the tanking trio that surrounded her. Oxford raised his shield to absorb the impact, but the fact that the monster was 5 levels higher than him and was in its uber-powered final stages, the Guardian was knocked backwards, his shield flying from his hand. It landed a few feet behind Oxford, the shield sticking out of the ground.
Should've leveled a bit more before joining this fight...
Fortunately for Oxford, Dark Magician Girl Maya-chan had again focused her attention on the wily Samurai that always seemed to elude her thorny clutches. He looked back to the others to see how they were faring.
Oh look. Love blossoming on the battlefield. How quaint.
Glad to see that they were okay (and apparently in some sort of awkward relationship), he dusted himself off, scanning the area for his shield.
Oh, there it is. How'd it get knocked all the way back there?
He couldn't help but have a foreboding feeling, as if his shield stuck in the ground was symbolizing a tombstone for his temporary grave (right before he respawned back at the Abbey). He could've sworn he saw the words R.I.P. Oxford form on his shield as a fresh wave of Maya-chan's toxic perfume washed over the area. A glance at his HP bar told him he was almost in the red zone. More like his HP was in line at the customs and claims check to get approved to go into the red zone.
As much as he wanted to help the team on the offensive, he desperately needed to get out of the deadly purple haze lest he wished to get his ticket punched. He took a knee behind his shield, leaning on it for support as he coughed and let his Resilience skill do its magic. However, something told Oxford that if the monster didn't go down by the end of the turn, he's gonna be suck in some seriously deep shit.

Hiro had crouched over, to gather his strength. That last barrage of attacks that he had thrown at the boss monster was taxing on his virtual body. He felt his spirit having been drained, and his body was weak. He collapsed to the ground, thinking as though the battle was close enough to being over. But, his eyes had deceived him, and the monster had only shed another layer. Hiro grunted, and relaxed his body for a few moments, letting his body regain its stamina. He would need to initiate some sort of strategy, something to just basically make use of who they had and what they could all do. In order to do something of that caliber, Hiro would need to pick up a leadership position, to make sure that everybody could do absolutely everything to their fullest potential. He stood up, and glared at the monster, reaching up to the sky. He clenched his fist, and performed a sign of victory, carefully calculating before his mouth opened to speak. Hashtag ProTag mode: Activated.
Hiro turned to @dindeen, and shouted over to her. "Caerbannog! Try and keep the aggro on you! You're doing a great job distracting!" He turned then to @0x1dea, and threw a command at him. "Oxford! Position yourself nearby Capsule! We're gonna need you to be her wall!" Hiro glanced to the Enchantress, Capsule. "Capsule! Keep an eye on everybody's health! When Oxford gets to you, give him something to heal him up or something, if you can! We're gonna need his HP up in case we don't kill Mayahuel in this go!" He then turned to the able Assassin, Kumori. "Kumori! I'll attack Mayahuel, and try to draw the aggro between Caerbannog and myself! Once its health gets low enough, and I give the signal, deal the final blow!" Hiro turned back to Mayahuel, and began to sprint. He hoped that his allies would go ahead and listen to his words, and do what he commanded of them. He felt like a jerk for commanding others, but if this didn't go close to his plan, it wouldn't work. "Let's finish this!!"
Hiro's fist came back, as he reared around to attack the vagina weed. This had to be it. This needed to be it. This boss had been fighting for a bit too long, and they had allowed this to go on for longer than they needed to. Sure, it was somewhat his own fault, but he'd make up for it immediately. As the opponent's head slammed into the ground, Hiro used this as an ample opportunity to climb onto the body of the beast, and began to whale on it. Hiro slammed his fists and feet onto the plant's structure, dealing damage on the body of the monster. He noticed that the boss kept its attention on the swordswoman, which would give Hiro and Kumori plenty of room to attack, without worrying too much about being attacked. Keeping this barrage of fists up, without expending mana, would be one hell of a trick. But, he had more than enough health to do it. He just kept fighting the beast, as best he could, doing all that his body would let him do. Of course, fatigue would catch up with him as soon as it was over, but for now, he ignored it.
Hiro's assault carried on and on, leaping from vine to vine, attempting to avoid all that he could, and keeping his balance on the plant's structure. But, soon enough, the plant would get a hit in on him. He saw the large Uproot vine maneuver a little too late in the game, and was sent flying away from the combat area. Hiro rolled and tumbled a ways before coming to a complete halt. He sprung up onto is feet, and figured that it was time to say screw it to the mana that he had kept in reserve. Hiro cupped his hands, and charged up the last bit of mana he had, in a last ditch effort. Hiro grunted a bit, and cried out to Kumori. "Now!!" He shouted, releasing the ball of energy towards Mayahuel's body, he watched it fly towards the plant beast, hoping that this last assault would be enough to complete the mission. He kept an eye on the team, hoping that they would at least be fine. His final hope was that in a little less than 30 seconds, this fight would be over, with the players being victorious.

Capsule shot Kumori a quizzical look. Him answering her in her native tongue was unexpected, though it was a simple phrase. You were guaranteed to find polite banter in those tiny travel guides. Had they not been in the middle of a field boss fight, Cap would cease the moment to tease Kumori like the foreign students studying abroad, and launch into a rapid, German monologue. It was always fun to see the other party frantically rack their brains or phrase books for translations.
Maya-chan, being the killjoy she was, chose to interrupt by shooting a gob of Acidic Sap at the Enchanter and Assassin. Cap knew exactly what that attack was capable of, having encountered it before via Nepent Snatchers. This one was much harder to dodge, unfortunately. It was like God peeking out of the clouds and hocking a giant loogie at your head.
Capsule dived to the side, tugging her cloak protectively around her thin body. The cloak would not be enough to fend off the acid, but - a wave of warmth washed over Capsule as something hot and moist clung to her back and side. 'Hot hot hot hot oh shit that's hot.' She spun around in a circle as the heat grew unbearably hot. Being burnt the second time around was not as bad as the first, but still worked the Enchanter into a frenzy. 'Ugh. Crispy.' Someone flip her over - she was well done.
By the time it was all over, Hiro could be heard over the internal screaming in Cap’s head, barking out orders. Kumori was to help whittle the monster's health down, and Capsule was to tend to Oxford's injuries. Right. She could do that much. Anything else was beyond her; Gehenna Swarm and Prana Drain were still on cool down, and she was not too eager to risk drawing agro again. 'Jeebus,' she thought as she took in the Guardian's low health. If hers was bad, Ox's was worse.
She pushed herself up onto her feet and stumbled after the man like a newborn giraffe. Sometimes she felt like she was staggering around on stilts. A few seconds were wasted on scooping up her grimoire and kukri, along with the squid plush that had somehow ended a few feet away from where she had landed. There was no time to neatly put everything in its place, so she dumped the lot into the crook of one arm, and retrieved a Medicinal Table from the squid. "Yo, Ox." Capsule's shoulders slumped in exhaustion as she tottered over to Ox, whom she handed the tablet to. "Here. It's imperative that you take this right now." She had forgotten how low his level was in comparison to hers.
Her part played, Capsule set her sights on the rapidly decaying flower. With her life shedding more and more with each time they killed her, they finally appeared to be on the cusp of the climax. If not…well, they would be royally neeped.
