Obtaining the materials that where needed for her experiment had been quite the challenge. Mab wanted originally to find all the materials herself. After several failed attempts the girl found herself buying the ingredients the needed. Off course the ingredients she bought where all level one ingredients and where only for testing purposes. The girl wanted to find out if she could actually create a basic healing potion. For this Mab had secured two base herbs, and one impure solvent. Finally having collected the materials needed for her research the girl went to work. She decided to complete this task in privacy and somewhere within the still safe confines of Londinium. The girl had no desire to run into monsters when she was just about to complete the making of a potion. This is why she choose to stay inside the city for now. What Mab lacked she decided was a place to call her own. Sleeping in the inn most nights just seemed very expensive and silly indeed. Perhaps there was a way for her to gain more permanent quarters somewhere. Something that was surely on her mind. She brushed it aside for now as Mab felt it was important to concentrate on the task at hand.
Closely she examined each and every ingredient that was needed to create the potion. The potion she wanted to make was a low level healing potion the only one she would be able to make at her current level and knowledge. Mab had some great ambitions as a Pharmacist. Eventually what she would like to make are potions that would allow for battle revival as she called it. Much like the druid spell revival she wanted to create this in a potion form. The girl knew full well that she needed to learn much before she could even attempt to brew such a potion. No her focus today was on the most simplest of potions because she had to start somewhere. Mab first looked closely at the base herb. It was nothing special really just a bit of a plant. The unassuming little herb that was the main ingredient for healing potions just seemed so mundane. Nothing special, just like a bit of moss or something. Mab wanted to commit to memory how this ingredient looked. So if she did ever came across this herb again she would recognise it and maybe bring it with her. Not that the herb was very expensive, not at all. But it peaked her interest so she tried to find some of the unique characteristics that would define this little piece of herb as recognisable. After staring at it for a couple of minutes the druid decided to give up. It was just not in her skill set to really identify these pieces of nature. Carefully Mab Placed the oh so vital ingredient on the table in front of her. After that she picked up the ingredient that would complete the potion. The impure solvent, or so it was called. -------------------------------------------------- word count: 504

The girl had no clue where this solvent could be found in nature. Was this a monster drop? Was it manufactured somewhere? Did it grow out of a solvent tree? The girl did not know and it annoyed her. Having no-one to ask the girl decided to leave the questions be for now. “Focus!” The girl sternly told herself. Mab had to decide on a plan. What would be the correct steps to concoct this potion. What would she need to succeed? The girl decided she needed to get some items ready before her attempt. Stowing her items away she walked of the inn’s common room and into town. Mab went to the nearest relevant shop she could find. The girl was looking for some specific items. Looking at her shopping list the first item Mab wanted to find was a vial or potion bottle. This she needed because where else was she to store the potion after its completion. The next item on Mab’s shopping list that she desperately needed was a sturdy mixing bowl together with something like a pounder, that would be able to mash those ingredients together. The pulp that created needed to be boiled. Or so the druid had decided. This meant there was one more thing Mab was looking for to complete her shopping list and that was a little pan which she could use exclusively for creating healing potions. This meant visiting several stores, Mab realised. But that would not stop her from doing what she wanted at all. In fact it only heightened her joy.
After Mab completed her shopping and spending some of her hard earned money the girl headed back to the inn she currently stayed in. Climbing the stairs to her private quarters she got on with it. Displaying the items she so carefully sought out and obtained with much effort, the pharmacist let out a deep sigh. This because the real work was still ahead of her. Anticipation and fatigue did not make the best combination Mab decided and before she would concoct her potion the girl decided to get some sleep first. Once rested the girl opened her eyes and looked at the items displayed in front of her. Deciding to take things one step at a time the girl got to work. She started with grinding the base herbs into a sticky mushy substance. This took her quite some time and she made sure to do so with great care. First just the one and once that was grounded to smaller pieces Mab added the other base herb, to repeat the process. After about twenty minutes of careful grinding both the herbs were unrecognisable. They both had turned into sticky green mush. This was the base mush she needed to complete the potion. Carefully emptying the base mush into the small pan the druid made sure she got everything from the small clay cup. Satisfied that she got everything out. The girl used some water to clean the cup before setting about the second part of her task. -------------------------------------------- Word count: 512

With gentle care Mab picked up the vial that held the impure solvent. She placed the vial carefully on the table. Mab had purchased a small pot burner. She made sure to turn it on and carefully placed her pan with the mushy base herbs over the low fire. Mab patiently watched and sometimes stirred the mush with a wooden spoon to let it slowly heat up. Once the base mush was starting to bubble from the heat Mab picked up the vial that she needed to complete her concoction. Drop by drop Mab added the impure solvent to the bubbly mush. Slowly stirring the two compounds together. It took quite a bit of time before the vial that held the solvent was empty. But once it was the herbs and the solvent together made a lovely purplish liquid. The liquid needed to cool down before Mab could pour it into the potion bottle she had especially bought for this occasion. At this time the girl turned off the burner and looked satisfied at her work. While Mab waited to let the potion cool down the girl went about and tidied up her room. As she was about to leave her room most of her belongings either needed to go to the bank to be stored or put in her backpack, which was too tiny to fit all her belongings. Also Mab did not wish to lose all her stuff if she ever died by accident. This is why she kept most of her things in the safe. Looking around to make sure that she would not leave anything behind she had stuffed most of her belongings into her backpack. She would carry the burner and pot later on. They needed more time to cool down. Waiting for that to happen the druid allowed herself to flop down on her bed. It took about an hour before the potion settled enough.
Treating the potion with great care Mab set about to pour her newly concocted healing potion into the bottle destined to become her first healing potion. Slowly but surely the potion bottle filled up. Leaving only a little bit of the concoction into the pan. Making sure to cork the potion before putting it away mab only needed to clean the pan before she was done with her first experiment. Feeling a great sense of achievement the girl tasted the potion straight from the pan. It tasted like strawberry the girl decided. Whether or not that was true remained to be seen. There was a side effect Mab noticed while looking in the mirror. As she stuck out her tongue she noticed that her tongue had turned green. “It makes my tongue turn green!” Mab yelled out, sounding very satisfied. With that she cleaned up her mess and headed outside. Using some of her own drinking water the girl cleaned her pan and brought it together with several more of her belongings to the adventurers bank to be placed in safe keeping. The potion would be stored there too, until she could claim it as her own for real. ------------------------------------------------------------- word count: 520

Another day, another moment. Mab had once again decided to improve her skills as pharmacist. This meant that the girl needed to create another potion or tablet, or anything that was related to Pharmacy. Why was this important to the golden haired girl, because she wanted to be of use to people. Besides there were already people creating poisons, Mab wanted to create curatives. Medicine that would cure ailments, diseases, status effects and so on. This meant that Mab needed to study diligently. Mostly because the girl knew nothing really about how it was done in the real world, Mab was free to use her imagination. Not particularly decided on what she was going to make the girl looked at her collection of herbs. In fact Mab thought it might be best to create another basic healing potion. It was good, Mab felt, to create a reserve. Mab wanted to create enough potions for a group so she could patch them up during or after a fight. This meant the girl had lots of work to do. Taking out her precious ingredients, and placed them on the workbench in front of her. Taking out the equipment she used for her potion making Mab placed each and every item carefully next to each other on the table. She examined each of her tools with great care. Making sure there were no issues, if they were undamaged, clean and if it was everything she needed. Surely these where the items she needed. But mab was not satisfied.

Mab was not satisfied at all. The little pan looked filthy and the mullet was still sticky from its last use. This would not do at all. First things first, Mab told herself. She went to the pump and got herself a bucket of clean water. Pouring the water in a large pot she placed the cooking pot on the stove. That softly burned with a wooden fire on the other side of the room. The work place mab used today was borrowed. It was a useable room that held all the necessities Mab needed. Well maybe not all, but what she needed to compete her goal for today. A work table, a source of fresh water, a chair, and a working stove to boil her concoction. Mab herself brought a small pan, a clay mixing cup, the ingredients, two base herbs and a impure solvent. Mab kept herself busy until the water she had put on had started boiling. Mab had been busy with reminging herself the steps she needed to take to successfully create a basic cure potion. Firstly she would finely grind the base herbs into a mushy goop, then she would add the impure solvent bit by bit while stirring the concoction until the solvent was nicely mixed together with the goop. Creating a syrupy substance. Once this was done, Mab needed to boil the substance while carefully stirring the substance counterclockwise until the substance had become a clear purplish liquid. Once that was done all was left was to place the potion in the designated bottle. If mab wanted she could add a pinch of salt to have an added effect of the tongue turning green.

One would think that the process was easy. This was a letdown, as it sounded a lot easier in theory. Putting theory to practice was a whole different thing. Cleaning up the utensils was a first for Mab. However the girl refused to use dirty utensils. It could really influence the potions effectiveness. Mab was not going to risk that. The ingredients were too expensive to just let go to waste. So the pharmacist had to take good care of the tools she was using. Carefully placing the pan, and the mullet into the boiling hot water the girl allowed to both items to stew in there for some time. Allowing residue and filth to be washed away. When Mab was satisfied, and convinced both items where clean indeed she carefully moved the boiling water pot off the burning stove and placed it next to the sink. Filling the bucket with water once more, Mab used pliers to get both items out of the boiling water without burning her hands. One by one she placed them in the cold water bucket. Allowing the remaining filth to wash away. After this she placed them on the counter. Getting a towel out of her back pack to firmly dry them. Mab did not want any water residue on either the mullet or the little pan she would use to cook her concoction. Mab looked at her work. She felt satisfied that she had cleaned the items and felt that she stood a good chance to successfully complete her potion at this time. Mab had once before practiced to create a basic healing potion. The process was successful the first time, no need to believe it would not a second time using the same process. Or so Mab felt. Only time would tell if she was right. Grabbing the clay cup, Mab picked up the first base herb and placed in the cup. Grabbing her now very clean mullet she started to carefully mash the base herb into a mushy green goop. She added the second base herb midway this process and continued grinding the herbs until both herbs had reached the for Mab perfect state of mushy green goopness. The second stage of the process meant adding the impure solvent to the green mushy goop. While stirring the goop Mab slowly added the solvent drop by drop. This was a rather slow moving way to complete the potion but the girl felt that this was the best way to do so. Once this tedious task was completed the next step of the process needed to be started. Grabbing the clean pan from the work station mab she placed it on the stove. Grabbing her bowl of now purple syrup the girl walked back to the stove where she poured the syrupy substance into the pan. Carefully stirring counter clockwise. Mab kept stirring for a good ten minutes before she declared that she was done, and took the pan off the stove and placed it on the work table. Allowing it to cool down before pouring it into the glass container that should hold the potion.

For the purpose of training her Pharmacist class Mab was heading towards a library. It was not a huge library or anything but it had a multitude of books, and as such could be considered a library. Mab was wanting to look up herbal knowledge to see what herbs could be found and what their effects could be. Mab wanted to increase her knowledge of potions, pills, and tonics to increase her array of curatives. Poisons was not really something that had interest to the pharmacist at this time. The reason for that being that the girl had no interest in poisoning anyone. Mab walked the streets with determination, she had a clear goal and was not allowing herself to be distracted today. Walking the streets the girl noticed several stalls, and new vendors, but their wares held no interest in the girl what so ever. Well they did, but she firmly told herself to stay focused on the goal in front of her. The truth was that Mab did not really enjoy reading books much, well normal books sure, but dry studies of the effects of various herbs just could not get her excited. Mab wondered if she had picked the right profession. This because it did not seem like she got anywhere fast. She found it difficult to create the potions that gave minor healing. Maybe the girl was just not creative enough to make new potions, or think up new uses for the herbs she had. Combining the herbs, gaining trust in her abilities to help people. Mab did not believe that she really had it in her. She battled against this because she wanted to believe she made the right initial choice. Mab did not want to give up on herself or the class she had picked. However due to her lack of knowledge she felt it was very difficult to continue on this path. Therefore the girl had forced herself to go to this library and pick up this one book that could really help her out, as it discussed the herbs that where useful to the pharmacist. In a way this was only reference material, as there was just too little information available. Too few people with enough knowledge in pharmacy to properly train her. Figuring all if it out on her own, just proved too big a challenge for Mab. The girl just did not know who to turn to, or where to ask, for further information. Mab was just too an inexperienced adventurer to truly find her way on her own. Having finally reached her destination, the library she was looking for Mab shook her negative thoughts from her head and entered the building. It was once probably a very beautiful building. However the apocalypse had left its traces here too. The building was overgrown with vines and leaves, it looked deserted and empty. Mab hoped that there were still some books left, otherwise this would be once again a wild goose chase.

Entering the seemingly abandoned structure Mab called out, “ Hello? Anyone here?”Not sure what to expect Mab waited for a few moments, to allow someone to answer her. While she was waiting Mab could hear someone shuffling closer to the entrance. The man looked like an old fashioned butler, wearing a suit and white gloves. Grey hair, a grey mustache; yep the epitome of a butler type. It would make it complete if the guy’s name was James or Geoffrey… The druid thought to herself. “Yes, what can I do for you?” The older gentleman asked in posh English. Looking at the dreadfully colorful girl in front of him. This location had been silent for such a long time, and the librarian hoped this girl was not here to disturb said silence. “Well, I heard that you have books on medicine and herbs here?” The curious girl inquired politely. Mab hoped she came to the right place. If not the girl was at a loss, she would be out of clues, no new ways to find any knowledge on her craft, no way to progress further. If this lasted all she could do was make minor cure potions. This was not something Mab was hoping for at all. The man stared at the blonde girl for a good time before answering her question. He was not convinced the girl should be allowed in to peruse the books so carefully collected. She just did not seem the type to respect the knowledge these books contained. Well that was the first impression he had of the girl. “What is your intent with such books?”The man asked Mab, not indicating that she could enter yet. The question would determine if he would close the door on the girl or if he would let her in. “I want to research as much as I can, to make medicine to help people with.”Mab started, being honest about what she wanted, and why she wanted to learn more. Mab somehow felt that this answer was important to the man in front of her. Things could go wrong for Mab if she failed to meet this man’s expectations. “I need to know more about the effects of herbs to help create new cures, and find ways to make people feel better, there is just too much I don’t know and I cannot figure it all out on my own…”Mab felt an urge to explain in more detail. But it seemed unneeded as the tall man took a step back and indicated that she could enter, what convinced the man where not so much her words, as her presence, the desire to learn, was clear on her face, showing no deception what so ever. It had reminded the old man of his own granddaughter, and in a flash decision he allowed her entry into the small but well kept library. “Thanks mister.” Mab said as she followed the man into the main part of the library.

Looking around Mab noticed that the library was not as tiny as she had imagined, though the girl figured that most of these sections were of little use to her current field of research. But it looked impressive indeed, not only where the walls of this large room adorned with shelves there were several stand alone shelves that where filled to the brim with books. On the sides there where comfortable chairs and tables where people could sit and read. At present the Library was empty save for Mab and the librarian. “Where to start?”Mab muttered to herself. Mab was no librarian, nor was she very familiar on how to start looking for the books she needed. Mab felt like she wandered into some strange foreign dimension. Very little here made sense to the girl. The books here held a myriad of topics and finding the few books she needed seemed like a task too daunting. She felt a wave of despair coming over her as she thought she might need to read all of these books to find the information she needed. “This is going to take years….”She sighed feeling like giving up altogether. The older librarian had not let the girl out of his sight. Sensing that this young child seemed out of her depth he decided to offer some advice. He basically knew every book in there, but mostly how they were divided. He called her over to tell her to search in the right section of the library. “Girl… Wait, I can’t keep calling you girl, what is your name.”The librarian demanded to know from Mab. Mab turned around to face the man, and smiled as she answered him. “My name is Mab.”The druid volunteered her name without issue, it would be nicer to be called by her name instead of girl. So that made sense. “What is your name?”Mab asked the librarian. Not wanting to call him the old guy, not even in thought. The man was silent for a few moments before answering her question. “I am George, the librarian of this establishment.”Mab slowly took a few steps towards the area George had mentioned. Thinking, George would be a good butler name too. Stifling a soft giggle the girl nodded thankfully towards the librarian. The area she needed to look at still housed at least thirty books or so. Reading the book covers one by one Mab would eventually find two gems she was looking for. The first one was about the different herbs that could be found and its potential use. The other was about how to refine herbs into base ingredients for potions and pills. This was precisely what the girl needed to further her goals. Mab understood that these books could not be taken from the library. Instead Mab took out the two books and headed towards the seating area. She chose a comfortable looking seat and set herself down. One book she put on the table in front of her the other she placed on her lap.

Opening the book Mab flipped a few pages to find the first chapter. As she started reading its content it detailed the different known herbs and solvents and its properties, that could be used as a pharmacist. This was great, this was precisely what she was looking for, Mab believed. There was a slight snag though. Reading further, it seemed that this book was made for players before the apocalypse. It detailed some procedures that could be done by the interface menu. That was the problem, if she used that the potency of the herbs would drastically reduce. But Mab believed that everything that could have been made through the interface menu could also be recreated through ordinary means. This meant much more research though. Mab felt deflated, her high hopes of finding ideas seemed smashed in one go. All she really figured out was that it meant that if she wanted something she would have to experiment and it would be really tough. Mab was not the most creative girl in the world. She felt a wall standing in front of her, would she try to climb it, or would she give up now she realized how difficult it would be to work as an effective pharmacist. Mab wanted to know if there were more herbs besides the base herbs; impure solvents; and impure tablets. For instance where there pure solvents and or tablets, if so where could they be found and what where their properties? How useful where Mana fragments for a pharmacist. All things Mab wanted to know but could not learn from this book. As it explained it for a system that no longer worked properly. Feeling frustration rise Mab closed this book and felt this urge to fling it across the room. She did not listen to this urge and instead placed the book on the table in front. Maybe with a louder bang then she liked in the otherwise silent library, she couldn’t help it. Opening the other book she immediately checked if it had the same issue as the other, and her fears where confirmed. This was useful information for players that would have played before the apocalypse. Now this information was nothing more than a handy guide line. It could give a few ideas but it would not teach her what she so desperately wanted to learn. Mab got up from her chair, and walked back to the spot where she had found the books. Placing them carefully back on the shelf she headed towards the exit. Today was not completely lost as she had formed an idea of what she wanted to try and craft, but the expedition did not give her the answers she was looking for either. Mab thanked the librarian for his time and asked if she could return if she needed to. With a stern nod from George the druid turned around and left the library. Holding in her hand a small written note with the ingredients for her future experiment. She wanted to try to make a “Haste” potion or pill.
