[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]CHESS ARKWRIGHT [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Avery Washburn [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 21 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Bisexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: Cromodo, Tartarus Online [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Stick [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"] Partly to make himself recognizable to anyone he might know and partly for simplicity's sake, Avery designed his char about ninety percent the way he really looks. He and Chess share the same slender yet chiseled muscle tone, the same length of hair reaching halfway down their backs, and stand at a solid six-foot two inches tall even without boots. Moving with practiced grace their height doesn't make them seem lanky or clumsy in motion, instead their walk takes on a sort of authoritative swagger with every step. It took Avery awhile to capture his normal range of expressions just right, but pulled it off well. At his default Chess wears a look of casual indifference, yet with his mouth held in a subtle grin, and his soft blue eyes displaying an analytical squint. However, as rigid as he can look at first glance sometimes, the man is prone to wide grins and quick chuckles when things seem to be going his way. When not being used to size up the newest thing holding his attention, Chess' eyes liven up as well and can tell a story just by their different reactions to his most current situations. There are two main differences between the creator and his creation; Chess has silver hair instead of sandy blond, and Avery is missing his right upper canine. When it comes to clothing Chess tries to look the part of being a mage and such, but tries not to go beyond practically. Starting from the bottom and working up, he sports simple leather boots with three straps on each foot that end just below knee level. Going further up you run into a nondescript pair of blue pants, and further up still an equally unimpressive long sleeve black shirt. Over said shirt Chess wears a long coat that comes down to just above his ankles. The primary color is white, but has various sections in brown leather with gold accents. As for accessories, most days the man typically dons a black pair of gloves with gold bangles attached and a brown belt with pouches around his waist. The only absolute constant of his ensemble are a pair of glasses with black squared frames. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]For the most part Avery is an extremely laid back man, and is hardly ever caught without a smile or his constantly jovial nature under most circumstances. An avid "people person" he loves to have conversations about any subject, throwing in his opinion and cold hard facts for several hours if given time. Feeling a good attitude is the first step to being a good problem solver, he tries to stay level-headed throughout most situations, looking for a logical preferable peaceful way to resolve an issue. That being said, on the frequent occasions that peace doesn't work, Avery has no problem resorting to often ruthless violence to get his point across. When the smoke clears he won't bat so much as an eye, or feel bad for those caught in the fighting, seeing it as completely their fault for not listening to him. Avery was focusing his life on trying to become a game journalist before the Catastrophe went down. Since finding out no one can leave at the moment he has taken advantage of this, and started writing his hopefully career starting critique of life trapped within Elder Tales. So far he's had the time of his life, and doesn't let the thought of never getting out hinder his enjoy of a great game. Along with his frank words of praise for the solid game design, he's made a point to sketch detail drawings of some of the more awe-inspiring locations and creatures. On the off-chance that he and his fellow players never get to leave Elder Tales, Avery fully plans on publishing his notes as an in-game guide/art book. For all his love of people, the man normally chooses to go alone when heading out to dangerous areas. In the likely chance of him running into something sketch worthy, Avery likes to have the freedom to sit back and draw without anyone trying to rush him. Also, it's worth mentioning that the man has a somewhat addicting personally, and doesn't easily pass up or leave behind anything that he really enjoys doing. On a good note, Avery has effectively quit smoking and slowed down his alcohol intake since The Catastrophe, for obvious reasons. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Avery was born in Bolton, Greater Manchester to Simon and Mindy Washburn. He was their fourth child, behind Walter( 5 at the time), Marsha (4), and Amber (2). As a family the Washburns got along very well with each other, the only static appeared when Amber and Avery fought for their parent's attention. Both Simon and Mindy were dentists, and while they told their kids to go after whatever career they wanted, slightly nudged them towards the family trade. As the years went on Walter proved the only one to follow in their footsteps, while Marsha dreamed of going to law school, and Amber thought about joining the police force. Avery was the only one at first that seemed aimless, and perfectly content to work in small time jobs, until his then current girlfriend helped him get an assistant job for The Bolton News. Even though he mostly was just in charge of lugging stuff around and getting coffee, the man loved getting to wear a tie everyday and the tidbits of leaked info from coworkers. Unfortunately, Avery lost his job about a year later, after they found out that he was the one who streaked across the field during a Salford Red Devils game. The dare won him nearly 400 quid from his friends in the stands who bet that he wouldn't do it, but in the end the man had to completely spend his winning and much more, just to cover his bail and the fines he incurred. After that Avery moved away to Essex county to live with a friend named Neville who offered him a job and a roof over his head. His girlfriend dumped him after he went streaking, and kicked him out of her flat, so he had nothing other than family keeping him in Bolton at that point. Avery's life in general improved a lot after he started living in Chelmsford with Neville. As promised he was given a job at an electronics store, which at first paled in comparison to his last one, but got better when he found how much his discount was for any new tech. At first the man was happy with a new 70" flat screen and the newest Sony console, but after being bugged by Neville built a gaming PC with his help. For the first few months Avery barely turned the thing on, with all the games he really wanted to play being on console, but his friend told him to give Elder Tales a try with the UK server opening and all. After finally picking up a copy from his job, Avery went about getting plenty of food and drink for his first time playing a MMORPG. If they were as addicting as he been told, he'd certainly need it to keep playing for a day or so straight. After booting up and getting trapped, it seemed ironically funny recalling all the money he'd spent on the snacks, and he didn't even get to take any of them with him.
