Conversation is the Key [Open/Casual]

In a dark room, a dark figure approaches the door, hoping to get out of his room once and a while. When he opens it, a bright light emerged on the other side of the door. Outside, he saw many people walking, running, and chatting on the sidewalks of the neighborhood. Walking through the busy street, he saw some teenagers chatting about boys while three woman talking about random rumors in the neighborhood. Another is some kids playing tag and some men are hanging out in their friend's house. Despite all of them are so noisy, it somehow calms him down. Maybe being alone is starting to make him depressed. Or is it something more?

As he continues to wander around the streets, most of the people vanished as he hears less noise this time, which he starts to lose consciousness. As he passed out as the people and the neighborhood disappears, he starts to muttered out this words.

"I wish I have someone to talk to."

Waking up under the sunlight from his window, Eniko stood up on his bed, noticing the overgrown plants on the buildings and streets outside on his window. "Another day in the Elder Tale world, huh? Looks like I'm really stuck here after all." However, despite this declaration, he decides to move on as he quickly took a bath in his room's bathroom. After a few minutes, he dressed up in his Assassin attire including his scarf. "I can't believe after yesterday, I learned how to fight. But what do I now today?" Wondering about what he's going to do now after realizing about his situation, he lied down on his bed to think about what he will do next. All of the sudden, he felt something strange in him. Like he felt very lonely all of the sudden. "Oh, right. I fought solo and entered this reality all of by myself. Maybe I think I should go out for a minute."

He then grabbed his scythe and put it on his holster before he got out of his rented room. After leaving the inn, he walked around the streets, wandering and watching players and Landers (as others call the People of the Land) chatting and wandering the streets and markets. "If would be really lucky if I run into somebody. I really need to talk to somebody, not just about this game." All of the sudden, his stomach starts to rumble. "Oh, I didn't know I can be hungry in this world. Wonder if I can find a restaurant or something?" He then continue walking to see if he can find somebody to talk to, but also find somewhere to eat.

After he learned about Scribes from Gemini, Eniko starts to wander around the city again, buying some items for his subclass to pass the time. He was then collapse on the bench, exhausted at wandering around. "The more I walk around the city, the more I think it reminds me of London more. The creators in this game really made a great job getting every detail of it other than adding an apocalyptic feeling in this city." He looked around to see some buildings in overgrown plants, including the Big Ben, which it's big clock stops ticking. "The Half-Gaia Project... According to the game's site, it makes the world of Elder Tale half the size of the earth's original size."

Ever since he became interested in Elder Tale, Eniko also became interested at the game's setting. In this new server, it set place in Unfounded Kingdom, a game version of United Kingdom. He even laughed a little when he noticed that the names have the same acronym. "I can't believe I've been trapped here for one day, yet I love this game already. It's very ironic when I think about it."

Eniko then got up from his bench, ready to wander around the city some more. "Well, better get going." He then continue walking, hopefully find someone that is not like Gemini earlier.

Hmm, food check, fighting monster check, died check, revived check, what else. (scratch scratch) hmm, I don’t know what else to do. Better ask another player. Meh, it is really hard to not even understand the basic of the game. Why the hell they throw me to a game world before I ever complete one game anyway. My best clue is just what sister taught me about Elder Tale in real world, and also what I have been through until today.

Hmm, this place will do. Maybe there is someone I can talk to. (look around) hmm, that guy kinda busy, that girl too, that guy has big head, that girl to “Aha”. There is someone that also looking around. Maybe he want to chat.

(Arrived at his side and start walking following the pace) “Hey, how are you, ah, I am a newbie, my name is lukav (click click) my class is monk, subclass is berserker and also a blacksmith”.

Hey, don’t just stare at me like that.

“Mngaah, I got it, I got it. Look I am not the thinking type right. I just kind of (scratch) hit the wall and need some information. So, how about it, want to exchange some info?”

(I still walked beside him try to following his pace, hope he allow me to tag along)

Wandering around is easy, but finding a goal is hard. Sure, he now knows about Scribes, but he wondered what he will do next after crafting. As he walking around, he heard someone behind and when turns around, he saw a bulky humanoid white cheetah with a nearly oval face, small eyes, and messy black spiked short hair down. "Huh? A Werecat avatar?" He was no stranger to races since he was playing some RPG games involving them. He learned from another classmate of his and Elder Tale's website that there are eight races to choose from upon creating a character. There's Human, which Eniko choose as his race, Elf, Dwarf, Half-Alv, which he reads they are descendants of an extinct race, Werecat, a half-human, half-feline like the player in front of him, Wolf-Hair, a werewolf race, Fox Tail, a half-fox race, and the Race of Ritual, which are human-like race with tattoos.

Upon staring at the Werecat player, he listened to him, learning that the player's name is Lukav and he's a monk with his subclasses are Blacksmith and Berserker. He continues to stare at the player suspiciously, thinking that he might have the same vibe as that Gemini guy he met earlier. He then also learned that he's not a thinking type and wants to exchange more information from him, which made Eniko guessed that he's new to the game, too. Upon learning more about him, he decided to talk to him as he stop in his tracks before facing Lukav. "Well, since I also need more information, I won't mind. I'm Eniko and I'm an Assassin player and my subclasses are Scribe and Tracker. I'm new in Elder Tale and MMORPG, so I'm also need more info about it and this new world."

Although he's cautious about him, he felt he can trust him. But he wondered what he will say next.

“You will? Cool. Look, I have been through my first battle. Outside there, there is many people fighting monster. I saw some awesome move, whoa, I don’t even know what is that. But I decided my first battle would be one on one with the boar. I found a solitary place to test my skill, there is three boars, I was …”

I end up telling the entire story of fight with some boars, and ended up with my dead.

“… just like that, that damn boar just suddenly being there. And so I am dead, then here I am, being revived again” (changing gesture) “so from my last battle I wonder, what actually is the ‘monk’ thing. What is ‘berserker’, ‘blacksmith’, class and subclass? I found some of the player out there fighting differently than me”

I just blabbering out any question that keep bugging me up that time. I hope he know the answer, or at least know the basic concept of those game mechanism. I don’t know why I don’t just ask about any information about how to come back to real life. That time I’ve set my first priority is to survive. Because of that, I need any information that most likely will affect my chance to survive. Mainly anything that will affect the battle.

I see at the assassin guy from the corner of my eyes, trying to find any sign if he is willing to answer my question. Well, sigh, if he won’t then I must wandering around in this place again to look for any other person who will. This place is not so big, I can jump to higher area to watch almost everyone down here. But it seems almost all of them currently busy, I don’t know if I can met any other that can be talked again.

“Well, do you know something about that?”

To his surprise, Eniko was hearing Lukav's story about battling a group of boars, but he died in battle and revived in the city again. "I have a feeling this guy is more new to this than me." When Lukav asked Eniko that he knows about his class, he thought about it with confusion. He knows about Monks and Blacksmiths from other RPG games, but he doesn't know what the Berserker subclass. Maybe it's a subclass that takes advantage of your anger? Maybe he needs to ask more veterans about it, but for now, the Monk and Blacksmith is the only thing he knew. "I don't know about the Berserker subclass, but I do know about Monk and Blacksmith."

Although he's not a talkative type and not a MMORPG veteran, at least he has some knowledge about RPG classes. "I think Monk is a class that focused on your bare hands or something, like you can do martial arts like you see in action movies. And maybe Blacksmith is a special subclass where you can forge and upgrade weapons you owned and sell other ones to other players. That's all I know so far." Since he's very new at this, Eniko decided to also break down about classes and subclasses he learned from online game guides he just read back in his old world. "And the main reason why everyone is fighting differently is not only their different fighting style, but also they have different classes as you do. Namely, the 12 main classes in Elder Tale."

Now realizing that he just talked too much, Eniko blushed as he retained his serious self. "And don't get the wrong idea. I'm new in this game and I can only guess how Monk and Blacksmiths work since I played RPG games. Elder Tale is the first MMORPG game I've ever played."

I am just nodding thorough all of his explanation. “Really, so that’s why sister chosen this class for me. And the blacksmith is more or less like actual blacksmith. Hmm, I think I got the gist of it”

Then, I am listening to all of his next explanation about class. To tell the truth, he is smart. Well (scratch scratch) at least he is smarter than me. He researched the game before he played it, that even better when we ended up in this kind of situation. I was just playing it the time sis tell me to play it. Hearing her gigle every once awhile, and sometimes hitting me lightly when I did something silly. Meh, thinking about it really make me want to go back to real life quickly. Oh yeah, why don’t I ask about how to get out, maybe he learn about something or two. Ah, before that.

“Hey man, thanks for answering my question. So, err, is there something you want me to do in return? Or something you want to ask?”

Sister told me not every person is kind in MMORPG-like game world. There is really rare to meet someone who just there and willingly help you without asking for anything. I never meet either of them, the good one and the bad one. So, it is best to prepare precaution.

“Hey don’t be shy” (punch his shoulder lightly) “just say it” (still keep smiling).

Although Eniko cleared his suspicions about Lukav, he was still blushing about how will he say next. Despite his appearance, he seems to be a nice guy. In fact, he's not only a first player that is not suspicious of him, but he's also the first person he ever freely talked to him. The last time he tried to make friends, his step-parents rejected them whenever he came home with his classmates, stating that they are distracting his studies, making him wish he can make friends without his step-parents' influence for once. But now that he's in Elder Tale world, he can do whatever he please without his step-parents, but still retain the words that his parents said to him. Outside, he was still cold. But inside, he felt happy that he can talk someone that is very friendly without his parents ruining it for the first time.

His thoughts broke when he was lightly punched on the shoulder by Lukav after asking how will he return the favor or he has some questions to ask, which he has no idea how. However, he remember that he was killed by the boars and revived in this city. But the question is where? Every RPG game has a save points or checkpoints so a player can be revived on that spot or to resume playing with the save data of the player's last save point. Seeing that he needs to know where is that checkpoint in Elder Tale, Eniko now has a question to ask to Lukav.

"Yeah. You said you've been killed while battling the boars, right? Where did you revived? You know, some kind of building, a certain spot of the city, or something?"

“Where did I get revived? Is that it? Hmm, well if that will help you” (point somewhere at Westminster Abbey direction) “I think, I was revived there, in a cathedral. Damn man, I always thinking how it felt like when you are dying. No no no, it’s not like I am a masochist or something, it is just something I have not experienced yet. Then I got my chance here in the game world. When those boars killed me, just half of me fell the regret, another part of me got fulfilled for it. When I woke up in cathedral, I think it felt like I was just overslept until late afternoon” yeah those boars never really be at fault. They just some kind of battle mechanism to keep you get challenged. And if you take a close look at level system, there is more and more monster out there to keep you challenged. Well then, the best way to do it is just fight and fight to increase your level. And then, fight again a more challenged battle with higher leveled monster.

We just walked across some NPC markets. It seems like day has started to change again. “Well, thanks to you, I have learn something today. It seems like the time to say goodbye, you know need to fill my quota for tomorrow lunch (pat my stomach). So, it is really nice to meet you Assassin Eniko, I hope we meet again sometimes in the future” (offer handshake)

"Cathedral, huh? So that's where I will be revived in case I get killed. I'll try to remember that." He wanted to get back every time he gets killed in every RPG game, but since this is a world based on Elder Tale, he felt it might be safer if he just battle a safe number and level of monsters. After they walked around the NPC markets for a few minutes, Lukav tells him that he needs to go, seeing he has something to do tomorrow. Although he wanted to talk more to him, Eniko thinks it's best that he needs to do something, too. He then accepts Lukav's handshake with Eniko gave a little smile before Lukav says that he will meet him again in a near future. Eniko however was a little embarrassed at Lukav calling him "Assassin Eniko". Well, it's a start for him.

"Well, I need to go, too. I need to work on my Scribe subclass's level and figure out how can I use it in a near future."

Before he can say good bye, he had an urge to ask him this. He felt it was a little embarrassing, but...

"Hey, if we do meet again, maybe we can team up and fight some monsters together, is that okay?"

He rather likes battling alone, but Lukav is the first person Eniko gain a little trust. So why not?

“Team up? Yeah nice, okay. Well, see you later” (start dashing toward some place at NPC markets) Hmm, I need to buy some potions, and also a couple of breads. And where I sleep again tonight (look at my golds) meh, then lets just try to find safe place outside. It is good to watch the enemies too. Yeah, today is a good day. I learn new things. It also nice to actually have a conversation with another player. There is good chance I’ll end up meet him again. Well, if t is not like some of those kung-fu story, where they end up as enemies at the end of the movie.

Heh, a monk eh. Thank you sis, you really the one eho can really understand me. I’ll treasure this character you gave me. I don’t know very much about this world, but knowing you watching me there, I will make sure to find my way come back to you.

I blend myself among the crowd, trying to secure my way on an overcoming night. Here among many other players, I will somehow find my way to survive, to comeback to real life. Here among many other players, like them, I’ll fight.

"Yeah, see ya."

After seeing Lukav leaving, Eniko can't helped but to wonder when he will meet him again. He looks like a scary Werecat player and a new player, but he's actually nice and not afraid to ask questions and answers them. Maybe he was wrong about the players in Elder tale after meeting Gemini. Maybe there are some nice people like Lukav in this game. "Hope to see you again... Lukav..." Eniko then stares at the sky, now thinking about his biological parents and his happy memories of them. "Mom, Dad, I said I'm not going to ignore this reality and I still able to face it. Because of that, I met some interesting people in here. I hope I can meet more people like Lukav."

After staring at the sky for a few minutes, Eniko then decides his next move. "I learned how to fight, I learned how to use skills, I learned more about subclasses, now all that's left is how to do crafting." He learned more about Scribes thanks to Gemini, now he needs to try it for himself. Seeing the craft button on his menu, he knew that it might be easy to do. But if he can do it without the craft window just like with his skills, maybe he might discover something new. "Okay, all I need is some materials and some recipes to start off with. Although I can stay the inn's room's desk, I need somewhere private to stay and work on my crafting subclass."

He then starts to wander around the city again, hopefully finding somewhere he wants as he thought, "It's better than studying or tutoring."
