Waking up at the start of the end of the world, Equipped: Starter Battle Ax | Starter Cloth Armor Skills Used: Deadly Dance It had been a little over a week since the beginning of the Apocalypse and it seems that no one has had made any progress on figuring out how everything happened. Cruex was no different. He paced the streets as the People of the Land watched him with weary eyes. Weary eyes? But they're NPC's. How can they even show weariness? It must have something to do with the update and the Apocalypse. I shouldn't worry about it... He told himself this, however, he couldn't help but be pinged with the slightest concern and weariness in himself. Cruex then decided that it's time for him to find out some things for himself instead of just waiting around. His current location was in front of the St. Pancras Station of Londinium, one of the large starting cities where players begin their adventures in Elder Tale. This particular city was based off of London in the United Kingdom. Although Cruex had been in Japan at the time of the Apocalypse, he was on the UK server and his character had been in the surrounding areas of the Thames Coastline which isn't very far off from where he was now. Upon realization of this, he headed in the direction of the Thames Marshland. The least he could do is at least test out the battle system. He wondered if the update included the area of combat and if so, if it's any different to fight in this new world. He reached the edge of the river outside of the city walls and continued to follow it up north to reach the marshlands. Upon arriving to the marshland area, he was immediately confronted by a group of three Possessed Stumps that attacked him from in front of him and from his left. As he was taken by surprise, two of the attacks landed, dealing 15% of damage while he managed to stumble out of the way of the third strike from the front. His opponents attacked again but he managed to jump out of the way as he drew his weapon; his battle ax. His weapon was one given to starters as he was unable to find his higher level weapons in his inventory. The ax was quite weak and he hadn't had time to have it replaced. Cruex looked at the enemies intently, observing their movements and attacks. The two that managed to land attacks on him came from the left and were levels 1 and 3. The stump that appeared in front of him was another level 1. Possessed Stumps have one main skill which is Immobility. Given this, they're current positions will be where they'll stay until they're defeated. He chose to target the level 3 stump to quickly rid of the strongest enemy. He charged at it and jumped while spinning mid-air as he then brought his battle ax down in a downward slash upon his opponent, dealing 45% of damage. This attack immediately made the other two enemies lash out with their attacks aimed at Cruex. He jumped back and avoided one while barely dodging the other. The second attack, however, still managed to barely hit Cruex and he took 5% damage. |

Waking up at the start of the end of the world, Equipped: Starter Battle Ax | Starter Cloth Armor Skills Used: Deadly Dance Cruex glanced at the cooldown time remaining for the use of his skill "Deadly Dance". 8 seconds remaining. He jumped to avoid an attack by one of the level 1 stumps but was hit with the level 3's attack as a result. The attack dealt 10% damage. 3 seconds remaining. As he waited for the cooldown time to end, he merely continued avoiding weak and slow attacks by the three Possessed Stumps. Once he was able to use his skill again, he proceeded to do so as soon as possible. The second Deadly Dance became available to him, Cruex jumped into the air and spun, gaining more momentum than he did during his last attack. As a result, he dealt even more damage to the Possessed Stump than he had before. The stump took 55% of damage, resulting in its defeat. With the highest leveled enemy out of the way, Cruex now only had to deal with two opponents that were the same level as himself. He flinched as one of them flung rocks in his direction, landing direct hits while he was distracted. He quickly jumped out of the way to avoid any more hits. Taking a quick glance at his skill interface, he waited another remaining 4 seconds before jumping into the air, much quicker than before, and with increased momentum, he spun and brought down his ax on the stump that had just attacked him. The single hit nearly OHKO'd the stump, dealing 95% damage. Quickly, Cruex unsheathed his dagger to finish it off, however, something collided with his side and he was knocked backwards. He regained his balance to see a fairly large Animated Sluge squirming in his direction. Cruex frowned and dodged its next attack as it was slower than before. Where did this one come from?! Animated Sludge isn't aggressive and I don't remember attacking one! He then realized that after his last attack, he must have landed directly next to one, startling it and bringing it into the fight. He checked his game interface to see the level of the sludge and noted that it was also only level 1. He sighed outwardly as the sludge just added another opponent for him to beat before he can return to the town of Londinium. |

Waking up at the start of the end of the world, Equipped: Starter Dagger | Starter Battle Ax | Starter Cloth Armor Skills Used: Deadly Dance The sludge launched itself at Cruex, causing the player to raise his right hand - which now wielded a poorly made beginners dagger - and slash horizontally at the opponent, dealing 45% damage. Small rocks and clumps of mud were practically being pelted at Cruex by the Possessed Stumps as he blocked the sludge's attacks. From these annoyances, he wound up taking a total of 20% of damage, leaving him with a measly 35% left before he'd be sent straight back to the cathedral in Londinium without making an ounce of progression. Noticing that it had been nearly 20 seconds since his Deadly Dance skill's cooldown ended, he took the opportunity to test his abilities in swapping out his weapons in a haste while not disrupting his combative momentum. He flipped his dagger around in his hand and quickly sheathed it at his waist as he reached behind him. His hand quickly latched onto the hilt of his ax and he brought it up and forward, slashing downward just as the animated sludge launched itself at him. The attack dealt the remaining 55% of health that the sludge had, resulting in its defeat. This grouping of actions ended up taking longer than Cruex had hoped. He checked his skill interface and the bonus damage percent had already dropped to zero for Deadly Dance. Deadly Dance was a skill that's damage percentage increased steadily the more the player used it consecutively, and if not used for a very short given amount of time, the bonus percentage would begin to drop rapidly. With only two opponents remaining, he hoped the finish off the last one with a one-hit attack. Ah well, I'll have to try that out another time. He rushed forward and sliced horizontally at the weaker possessed stump, quickly finishing it off. |

Waking up at the start of the end of the world, Equipped: Starter Dagger | Starter Battle Ax | Starter Cloth Armor Skills Used: Deadly Dance Cruex charged at the single remaining monster, slashing horizontally with his battle ax which dealt a measly 20% of damage. The stump made an attempt to grab at the player with its roots, but Cruex took the initiative to slice at downward, chopping the roots off and as they fell to the ground, the monster make an odd low-pitched shrieking noise before recoiling back from Cruex. The loss of its roots dealt another 15% of damage and as a final attack, Cruex jumped, spinning in the air as he heaved his ax down onto the monster with immense power, finishing it off in a single blow. Pleased with his quick, not-so-easy work of the three stumps as well as the sudden appearance of the slime, he decided that he would continue his exploration for a short while longer before heading back to the town in order to heal himself and upgrade his equipment with whatever resources he has. As he traveled further and further into the marshland, nothing extremely noticeable had come up since the initial attack of the three Possessed Stumps as well as the Animated Sluge that he had managed to aggro during his fight. I wonder if that fight was just a test fight of my abilities, rather than a random encounter because thus far nothing else has appeared... At this point in his exploration of the marshes, Cruex had begun to grow physically weary as the sun began to set. It was then that he decided that perhaps he wasn't ready to venture out as of yet. He spun on his heel, latched his ax to his back, and made the groggy trip back into the town to heal himself as well as in hopes of obtaining better equipment. Upon arrival in the town, he decided to take a small break before looking for new equipment and he sat down on an empty bench near the entrance to the town. Sighing, he looked up at the sky and continued his wondering of why he and many others were brought to this world from their own. If a reason for this existed, he then made a promise to find out the reason and a way to reverse it, if at all possible. If not... well, life in Elder Tale can't be that bad. Can it? |
