To claim researches or crafting in threads, use this template.
Q: Do materials bought from the shop need to be added to my inventory before I craft stuff?
A:Not really. You can technically even start the crafting thread first, then purchase the materials from the shop when you finally claim the thread. It's just easier on everyone because otherwise we'd have to confirm material purchase for every single craft, and that slightly defeats the point that we placed materials in the NPC shop to begin with. As of 8/13/2014, you no longer buy materials to craft. You must pay a Material Fee instead.
Q: How much is the Material Fee?
A: Generally speaking, it is equal to 5 x (materials needed) x (materials' level) in Gold. Some recipes may be more or less expensive, so refer to their own costs as needed. See this thread for a more detailed explanation.
Q: I have an Upgrade Tool, what is it used for?
A: Upgrade Tools are items that lower the Material Fee for a tier of items. For example, the Basic Upgrade Tool affects items of Level 11-20 and halves the Material Fee for crafting an item of that range. They are multiple use items and are not consumed during a craft, so you may continue to use them in future crafts.
Q: Can I also claim crafting subclass AP from my craft/research threads?
A: Yes, but do that in the respective AP Claim subforum.
Q: I'm an Alchemist and I need to get Mana Fragments to make something, so can I take 5 posts to make the Mana Flashlight which normally takes 3 posts but requires 5 Mana Fragments to make? Or do I need to make 5 Mana Fragments first before I can start making the flashlight?
A: You can spend additional posts to gather the Mana Fragments you need. You are considered to gain 1 Mana Fragment per post in a research or crafting thread, so you don't need to make them in advance.
Q: Can I make more than 1 item at a time per thread?
A: At the moment, you can only make 1 item at a time. Mana Fragments are an exception and are passively crafted every post you make. Perhaps future skills can improve on this efficiency though...
Q: Can I make multiple items in a thread? For example, spending 1 post making Parchment, spending another making a Quill Pen, then spending 2 posts using the previous materials I just crafted to make a map?
A: Yes. Just make sure you keep track of the total number of materials you'll need in order to make your final products.
Q: What is Speed Crafting?
A: Speed Crafting is the ability to craft an item without making an RP thread, as long as you crafted that item in a Standard Craft Thread sometime before. So let's say you made a claim for a Magic Accessory. The Magic Accessory recipe becomes eligible for you to speed craft, and the next time you craft it, you simply need the materials in your inventory and a link to your old thread.
Q: Are there any differences between the quality of Speed Crafted and Regular Crafted items?
A: There are no differences. Keep in mind that if you speed craft too often though, you'll probably spend more gold on materials and your wallet may take a hit if you aren't careful.
Q: If I researched a recipe, can I speed craft that recipe?
A: Yes. Please link your research claim as proof in place of a regular craft claim.

Crafting
Crafter: (who's making the item?)
Recipient: (who's receiving the item?)
Recipe: (list the crafting recipe you're using; if it does not exist, you need to get it approved by doing a research thread first)
Material Fee: (the cost you need to pay to craft this item, see [a href="http://log-horizon.proboards.com/thread/2755/material-change-notice"]this thread[/a] for details)
Conversion Fee: (200 gold or N/A, applicable only if the crafter's current crafting class is not the right class needed to make the item, paying a conversion fee allows you to switch crafting classes immediately and back without having to use the Market Center. When you pay a conversion fee, it lasts for the duration of the crafting claim which means that you can do crafts for multiple people without having to pay the fee repeatedly.)
Payer: Who's paying for the fees? If more than one person, specify how much each person is paying.
Requested Item: (Most recipes allow you to customize the name and description of the crafted item, list any requested descriptions here. Also include the level of your item according to the Material Fee or average level of your materials.)
Standard Craft Thread: (If performing a standard craft using an RP thread, link to the thread. Otherwise you may leave this blank.)
Speed Craft Thread: (If you wish to craft something you already crafted before without having to make another RP thread, link to the Standard Craft Claim thread where you originally crafted the item. Otherwise you may leave this blank.)
Conversion Qualifications: (If you paid the conversion fee, this is where you link proof of how much AP you have on your converted crafting class. Usually an approved subclass change claim. Otherwise you may leave this blank.)
Bonuses: (Crafting under the effects of any special bonus? Does a skill in your possession allow you to change up the way you craft? Have an Upgrade Tool that gives you a material fee discount? If not applicable, leave it as N/A.)
Equip the item?: (Applicable only if equipment. Otherwise N/A. The person who's equipping the item should confirm and designate which item they're unequipping, if a weapon or accessory when slots are filled.)
Additional Costs: (N/A if crafting for oneself. But if you're charging someone for this craft, feel free to list a price. That person must then confirm the purchase request by replying to your craft claim. Note that your client may also donate directly to you by going to your profile, so both parties should make clear arrangements in advance.)
Research
Thread: (link to the thread)
Researchers: (list the names and profiles of the ones who did the research)
Number of Posts: (List the number of posts you made, be truthful. If more than one person researched the idea, list how many posts each person did.)
Crafting Recipe Proposed: (describe your recipe idea as thoroughly as possible. Try to describe how the item works in-RP and less on how it's crafted OOC.)
Explanation: (describe why it makes sense that you discovered it in RP context; you're not going to be able to discover steam engines with a 2-post thread or an airplane if you were researching a gear-building thread, for example. Also take heed of your crafting level. Low level mechanics can't really do much other than create small parts of machinery.)
