So, I just stare blankly to the weapon in my hand. I have no idea how to make this thing have effect. Like, I don’t know how to float in real world, or how to make a simple spark of glittering mana with one wave of a pencil. The weapon sits nicely in my hand, still like normal weapon no matter how long I stare at it. Perhaps, if I stare much longer, I will able to see the magic caused by my delusion. Errr, that shouldn’t be real magic, or at least not what I am currently searching right now. The basic principle of the task is simple. I need to recreate the method I have used back then, so this weapon in front of me gained such thing called ‘effect’ like when I was created the accessory. Come to think about it, back then I was just did the best I can to cope my blacksmith experience in real world to the material and blacksmithing mechanic in this world. “How long do you need to stare at that thing kid?” a sudden voice from grandgrand slams me back to my sense. I see him now sitting on his usual chair, along with our usual customers around him, which somewhat awkward for me to try my subclass ability in front of this much audience. Well, I don’t know what started it, but they start gathering around grandgrand and keep their eyes on me, on questionable distance. I squint on grandgrand suspecting him doing something after I declare to try making a weapon with effect, He just gives his meh reply to me, then ignores me and instead keep his eyes at the weapon on my hand. Nyeh, I don’t know if it will go smoothly, since I thought this is not even a show. I should just push away any distraction from my mind and keep my attention to the weapon. Then, start working. I hold the weapon’s hilt with both of my hands which is now positioned vertically in front of me, then I close my eyes, pushing my inner thought to the degree where I am feeling content. I draw several mana lines with my imagination and guide them to the weapon. Then, the weapon starts glowing, little by little, like pushing its way inside my grip. Then, it spreads, it’s redden, like magma lines traveling around on the surfaces of weapon, engulfing it with darkened crimson glow. Everything except the weapon start to dim, and lose their shines. Then, an earthquake occurs. The floor splits apart, everything falling to the depth of magma, leaving the ground where I stand. Dark clouds covering the sky, tainted it with redden glow of scorching earth. The sky being ripped apart. The hole opened on it. The heaven has been breached. A gigantic arm crawls out from the hole and reaching to the weapon in my hand. I stay content, when it starts the contact. I stay content, when the weapon starts cracking and shine from its crimson line. I start content, when everything erased. Everything. The world, the sky, the very existence of me, disappeared, leaving the weapon itself in an empty dimension. A pure white dimension, with nothing but itself. Then, I open my eyes.
What the heck I am imagining. Seriously, I thought I just want to express myself to feel like, you know, magical being by inserting my inner energy into stuff. It turned out into weird doomsday story. Wait, this is game world anyway. It may have effect even though it was just my wild imagination. So, I release one of my hands and just hold the weapon with one grip, and then opening the weapon’s menu. I scroll down from the name and description, and then frown with my finding. Just as I thought, I don’t find the effect in the description, and I don’t think I will find anything more than what written on the panel even if I keep staring. Meh, now my delusion power doesn’t have any effect to the weapon. I should try other method. But, what should I try? I have no clue on how I can produce such result back then when I forged the accessory. Hmm, should I try… to reforge it? There should be something happened back then. I don’t know how, but there should be. May the secret actually lie on the sparks? I won’t know if I never try to find out. The world is still rather mysterious for me now, and I don’t think I can find anything worth if I keep abandoning the possibilities. As much as this world has its normal sense, there is mystery and magic lurking around behind the screen. So far, I can create something as it is based on real world method, but there should be part of this world that lean on ‘that’ mystery. Hmm, well, I put the weapon on the table, leaving the crowd checking it. The furnace is still on, so I just need to add more coals so it can provide me enough heating throughout the process I am about to do. I have prepared the material and two buckets of quenching liquid. Yeah, that should work. I just need to wait for a moment before the crowd abandoning the weapon, which is not that long awaiting. They seems disappointed, more like me, frowning after discovering the fact. I take the weapon, start hammering it in cold, so it can merges easily with the material later. I believe the quality of metal is good, so it won’t break easily even if I hammer it without heating it first. I apply the same treatment with the material. Then after awhile, I put both the weapon and material inside furnace. I look at the direction of the crowd before, but I cannot find them. Seems like they have moved back to main area, leaving grangrand alone while he still staring at me, with a rather familiar lady behind him.

Now, the usual making process begins. Since it is a reforge, I just try to enhance the physical form of the weapon with additional material. It should be done quite easy, since the weapon already has it form. The question will be, how much I will destroy this base form to add more material. For someone who has so much love with his creation, it should be hard decision, but unfortunately for the weapon that feeling doesn’t apply for me. I don’t have that much attachment with my metal creations, except for what I will carry. Hmm, maybe because I used work in industrial sense, I don’t have to think too much when my creations carried by someone other than me. Well, it will be different if it was my unique creation. I should rather collect it if that was what happened. I like collecting my new creations. It’s like I keep records of my achievement. Something that I can understand, and proud when I am by myself. Sometimes, I just don’t think too much about it, and pass the time by staring at them, reminiscing the past process. Which will be different from what I am currently hammering right now. I don’t have some kind of ‘attachment’ with it. I just think about the quality of the creations and how they will be useful, and then I just keep running the forging process. After some times passed, I start hammering the both material to connect. I still have the original design inside my head, so I still try to recreate it as close as possible like the original, but I am not putting that as the topmost priority since I may destroy the part of original design if I find the condition doesn’t fit for that. Like, it may be more edgy, then I need to camouflage it when I add the detail. As far as it is now, I don’t need to go through such process since I just barely entering the hammering process, and it’s still continues. I keep my eyes to the weapon, waiting if there will be some sparks that indicate the creation of effect, while still doing the process properly. Yeah, the sparks, that is what I am currently watching out for now, as in there may be answers behind that, something that will answer my curiosity about the current forging method in this world. There is some sparks, but that’s normal since I keep checking the weapon’s description every now and then if I may find any changes, but no, nothing changed. I keep hammering, return it to the furnace every now and then, and hope that just because I am currently at earlier process. There may be some changes if I keep pushing forward. I keep telling myself that, so I won’t lose hope.
Now the weapon and material has combined. At least as far as I am now, without proper guidance how to reach my goal, I am able to arrive at this phase. I feel happy about it. I start applying the hardness immediately by quenching, since the weapon already has a base and I don’t think anymore metal-bending process needed. I apply quenching as usual, by heating the weapon and then make a quick cooling process by sinking it into quenching oil. The usual sounds cringing my ears, as the weapon sunk beneath the oil. I can’t help but smile, whenever that happens. I move the weapon so the quenching applied as intended, then back to hammering. There is something I have proven so far, that is the sparks didn’t affect a thing about the creation of effect. I have watching them so far, and I don’t find anything significantly useful with them, except some speculation that the sparks somehow telling me if I hammer the weapon wrong. So, where is it? Where the hell is prove that I am heading to the right direction? I don’t think… I can keep going and expect the result is right. But I still keep going, at least I will try to crawl to the end of this process sequences. So, I keep hammering, and applying the quick cooling process, again and again. Then, after the process done, I start adding the detail back. No change so far, even I have gone through all reforging process. I still can hold myself with a big hope that everything will be okay afterward, and I just need to think about the current job. But… even with that… I still can’t find the effect even after reopening the weapon status panel multiple times. I am in the verge of frustrating. I almost give up, but a gentle voice surprising me from behind. “You have done good so far” It was form the girl I saw before. “Umm, sorry?” her curly hairs swaying as she faintly tilts her head “you are following this recipe right?” Equipment Reforging | Materials Required: 1 Unrefined Metal, 2 Old Quencher The Blacksmith takes an existing piece of equipment and reforges it to give a random enchant, which can vary between elemental damage, damage increases for certain skills, cooldown reductions, increased attack range for certain skills, etc. The type of enchant depends on the type of equipment it is and the types of classes which can wield the equipment. Only one reforge can be placed on an item at a time. Equipment bought from the NPC Shop cannot be reforged. |
“I… don’t know if there is such recipe” I still sit near anvil and stare at her, with my forehead frowned. “There is…” she made a wide grin, like that of a girl in pure happiness expression. “You did it good” she pats my head as she said that. “But, I think I have failed” “I don’t think so” she made that naughty kid smile. I don’t understand, so I check the panel again, but this time I notice there is addition in the weapon’s description. I made a big ‘O’ with my mouth. “How do you know that” she just smiles “I don’t know” I squint “I just see many adventurers making weapon like you. So, I have some ideas” really? “By the way I am Lukav. Who are youppfff” she puts her finger on my lips, forcing me to swallow my words. “No, not now. There is time for everything mister adventurer” she is so close. Not like she intends to, it just like she is playing around since she quickly move back to the grandgrand, waving her right arm along the way. What’s the deal? Why I can’t know now? I can’t help but think that grandgrand is scheming something again. I squint at their direction while frowning, which they answered by laughing faintly and whisper among themselves.

It’s weird. I thought when someone being in group with other people for long time, we can grow friendly and start to know each other more. However, I don’t feel like that with gradgrand and people here. They still seem distant, grouping among themselves on one side and I am by myself on the other side. Well, I don’t dislike it. It’s just when there is something like this happened, I cannot make my way to connect with them, asking them directly about what exactly happened here. I am still looking at grandgrand and that mysterious lady direction, expecting some kind of explanation, but it seems they cannot see me right now. I let out long sigh, and continue with my work. There are some jobs that still not yet completed. I cannot just abandon my responsibility with something like this. Speculations and doubts should just wait until my work done. I take my move toward the wall board to see my next task, and found it quite laid back rather than what my previous task is. I only need to create a dozen of pans. No more detail added, which made me feel rather ease about the assignment. At least, I won’t bring my stress to the work because of too much thinking. What’s the deal by not telling me anyway. If it is something I can fix, then I will fix it. Isn’t it better to communicate, aren’t they say ‘communication is the door for understanding’? Nah, I don’t have to think about all this right now. I should just start my job, then get back and rest my head on my usual tree. Nothing better for me than just closing my eyes and resting my mind. I should start working by now. I stand and start walking from my position. I don’t care about those two opinions right now, or more likely I don’t want to start thinking about it again. It’s clear that they hide something from me. My only option right now should be just keep my guard on, so I can prepare for whatever happened afterward.
I enter the storage room and quickly bring out the materials needed, and put them near the anvil. I just start preparing the molds when I left the material to melt inside furnace. With several molds prepared beforehand, I can create multiple pans in no time. Sometimes, the faster the better. I just feel I can’t finish the request by usual forging, with many things puzzling my mind right now. So, molding is the best choice for me, since I don’t have to think so much about swaging the material into the shape of pan. I just need to check the heat and material inside the container once for awhile for the start. The rest is just waiting for material to melt before start dong the process. I choose the large container since I am about to use multiple molds at once. After all materials melted inside furnace, I start pouring the melted material into molds and then I put another material into furnace, while waiting the material inside mold to be solidified. That is for having efficient process. So, I can pour another melted material after the melted material inside mold has been solidified. While waiting, I start working on creating the handlers, so the pan can be hanged on a bonfire with rope, or for any other use that needed each or both handlers. It’s not hard to create handlers, since I just need to cut an iron bar into multiple parts, bend them into edgy ‘C’ shaped, and then flattening each ends. The flattened part will be connected with the rest of pan after it solidified. I keep working on creating multiple handlers to fasten the process. Since each pan only need two handlers, I count the handlers and group every two of them. Ah, I should check the mold in case the pan has been solidified, and yes it is. I take out the pan from mold, and start connecting it with handlers. There, one pan ready. I pour another melted material into mold then put the next material into furnace to melt. I repeat the process until all pans done. Yep, not that all difficult since there is no such thing as working on detail needed. Just a simple smooth pans with two handlers on each of them. A simple thing, but useful. I put a check mark on the wall board indicating the quest has done, and then start grouping all the pan and tie them with rope before putting them on the finished request items area. Come to think about it, how much I have made so far in this workshop. About tens? Hmm, I should have grasped some knowledge about blacksmith ala Elder Tale here.
Dozens similar creation has done, and the day is almost off. I am about to walk to grandgrand and tell him about my leave, but he is first in approaching me, wearing serious expression on his face. So, is it lecturing? Meh, I don’t have time for that, it’s about time for me to start hunting monsters for gold. “If you are about to tell me something, do it tomorrow grandgrand, I am done for today” he smirks after hearing that and cross his arms on his chest. “Yeah tomorrow, come a little bit earlier” I raise my ‘fur’-eyebrow “is there something specific I must do tomorrow?” I can’t help but think he is about to start something again. Last time he said that is when I am about to make my first weapon. Woohoo, what was he prepared for me this time. Even though he is sometimes do some shady things, I always like when he suggest me to do something new, something I don’t even tried to do before. Now that I am thinking about it, maybe I am just little too hard to him. I think he is almost like a parent. They may just quiet and thinking about the best for their kids, but the kids suspecting them too much for having silently thinking a plan to ruin their life. Hmm, maybe I am being too immature around him. Maybe this time too, he is just thinking what best for me. “Nah, I am not telling you” I squint “now, get out and come back early tomorrow”

So, I arrived early as requested. These ‘early’ things these days seems like the sign of something might happens to me. Perhaps, more improvisation? The last time I came early, I got my chance to create weapon. The day before, I also granted a chance to create mold. Hmm, what may I achieve this time, another improvisation? Wait, wasn’t grandgrand and that cheery lady discussed something without involving me these days? Don’t tell me, they was actually planed a prank for me in this very day. Oooh, now I feel entering this place is not safe. However, I still really want to know what will happens if I just enter. I am a tank by the way, I can take many damage and still alive. So, there is shouldn’t be anything that actually endanger me even it is really a trap. With that in mind I entered the place and keep my guard on. Suddenly, the owner face greets me. Well, actually, his hair. I almost jump backward instinctively, but I can still keep my composure. Although a question suddenly hit my head, did he just waiting for me? I have no idea. He stands as he normally is with his arm on her back, and rubbing his chin with the other hand. With such greasy tone, he greets me “Now that you have leveled up, it’s now the time to advance your lore”
My lore? Oh, so that is what he meant by ordered me to come this early yesterday. I have heard about it before from a reliable source. I am about to talk with him on this topic later when my job is much lighter, but if he bring it out today then it fine with me. So, I am not completely surprised right now. “The quest” I just smirk after saying that. However he… doesn’t seem to be surprised with my laid back expression, and instead giving me order. “Yes… and now, get out!” “Wut! But…” “Shut up, I like doing this” meh, whatever. I don’t think I will know about the quest if I am not following his instruction. So, I walk out, while still looking at him, slowly walk back toward the entrance. Grandgrand still stands there, watching me, and then bowing. Did he just… bow? Well, actually I can only see him bending his neck a bit toward me, and then says “Welcome o mighty adventurer, I am a humble citizen need your help” Oh right… my birthday… wait, he doesn’t know my birthday. So, this must be something else. Whatever, this is one of lifetime chance. “Mwahahaha, I am very pleeeeeased with your humbly request. Come to think about it, I am a little bit thirsty” (Smack!) “Ouch” where the hell he hides that stick before. I shove my head unconsciously, confused with his sudden act. He seems amazed for moment, while looking at me “Oooh it’s working! I always want to do that, but now it’s working, khekhekhekhe” what the hell. Don’t tell me he actually wants to try it. Meh yeah, it was my fault anyway. “Smh, whatever, sorry. So, what can I do to complete this quest?” he smiles, just like always, but this time looks like quite different. He seems about reminiscing a long memory he has before. It takes a quite sometimes before he finally says “You should introduce yourself to other blacksmiths on the city” Just like that? “But. You should say certain words to them before introducing yourself” “ah, certain words” I nod while facing at him. Telling him that I followed what he means so far. “You must say, ‘an Iron Tofu blacksmith telling me to meet you’ for every blacksmith you meet” yee, that not so difficult for a quest. “How many blacksmiths I should meet anyway?” “Heh, you want to meet all Landers blacksmith in entire city?” who said I will do that!? “You can meet about five to ten blacksmiths around the city and this quest will be considered done” ah, after listening to the entire description, I can conclude that this quest is indeed a simple one. “Hmm, okay, when I can start?” he instantly make an annoyed expression. “Right! Now!” and hits me again multiple times, until I take my leave.
I start walking to the closest area which seems has something like a blacksmith workshop. Since this is still around st. Pancras, there should be many crafters here. Although I don’t know if Landers crafters will be as many as I expected. There is one workshop I can recall, this workshop is what I have seen every morning on my walk toward grandgrand workshop. So, for me it’s relative easy to locate. Without much consideration, I choose to visit this said workshop. The crowd is rather too many since this is still morning, but I can still manage to pass trough. I take several turns for shortcut, so I can evade the flood of crowd, and then I finally arrive. Hmm, now that I am looking at it in this distance, this workshop doesn’t seem have many weapons in it. Rather than that, I notice there are many cooking utensils I saw on usual ‘finished’ corner like in grandgrand workshop. There are also some blacksmith tools that I never saw before, hanging nicely like some kind of collection near the anvil holder. The other thing that picks my interest is a collection of chisels. There are so many types of chisels, perhaps for shaping the material? There are so many things that I never seen here, but I cannot enjoy watching them for too long since I have the quest to finish. I notice a group of blacksmith on their usual places, and then I am approaching one of blacksmith that seems older than the rest, considering grandgrand already old enough so I thought the one that understand his message should be someone as old as him. Yeah, I still have this kind of feeling that grandgrand was about setting his prank on me, so I thought I must still keep my guard up while doing this so called ‘quest’. “Hoi, welcome” I am about to jump backward in surprise when he just greets me nonchalantly like that. Ah maybe that is what people feel when I am approaching them. “Oh hey” I wave my arm while walking toward him. Hmm, seems like I forgot something. Ah, right “an Iron Tofu blacksmith telling me to meet you” I bowed when I said that. Not that a proper bow, since I just mimicking what grandgrand did before. Then when I lift my face again, I see his expression changes. His face brightened as he heard the words, like he never heard about it for long time. “Ho, please, come here” he wave his arm signaling me to come closer. Nice. Who thoughts this quest will be this ‘normal’, now I feel guilty ‘again’ toward grandgrand to not give him the chance to be trusted. I take a sit near the old blacksmith, when he put his palm on my shoulder and start talking. “As you see I am a blacksmith in this workshop. Ah, are you about to become a blacksmith? Oho, then you should know I prefer using forge for all of my metalwork” oh, I don’t know there is a blacksmith like that. I am myself prefer to use all kind of methods as long as it will do the job. “So, tell me what kind of blacksmith you want to be?” a sudden pause occurred between us. I have used to work as blacksmith in real life, but I still don’t know how to answer that kind of question properly. “I…” “ah, you don’t have to answer that” what? “no one answered that question before” really? I… don’t know how to react to that. “Well then, with this you are 1/5 completing the quest. You can come to the next blacksmith in other workshop” he pulls my right hand and shakes it formally. “Good luck” nyeh, that was quick one. I take my leave while waving my arm to him, and smiling. He is about as old as grandgrand, or what it seems to me since I can feel his radiance more than grandgrand. I don’t know why. Well, I have learn something in this workshop and I am about to continue for the next blacksmith’s place. In my selfishness, I think my visit just now is not meaningless as it seems. Although, I think it may be different when people working on this quest through monitor.

I have spent more times on the third blacksmith’s place. This place is quite different from the other workshops I have visited so far. The owner sure has dedication for his work. He own a quite number of creations displayed in his workshop, sitting quietly as they waited for so long to get to the hand of a master. I am standing, firmly standing, shoving my under chin that not itchy, while smiling, admiring the set of fabulous handwork. The crafter sure has determination when they were been creating these weapons and armors. I cannot see any unnecessary shaping in their design, which is coping well with the way I was doing my craft so far. Like this armor for example, from shoulder to shoulder the protection distributed, also arrangement from the protectors on front body and the back, all of them reflect the dedication of the crafter who made them. The excellence of work are even more shown from the weapons. I don’t find any flaw as far as I can see. The sharpness, the hardness, all of them is about right. I wonder if I can ask for guidance if I can confront the owner for the second time. She seems quite a self-supporting woman from the look of her. A Latina with green eyes and light tanned skin, also a pair of thin lined lips like Christmas’s tree leaves. I rarely recognize people through their appearance, but this girl distributed her muscles good. I can’t even imagine her in my mind, holding my usual hammer.
I have done what I can do for the quest here, so except for the fact that I may only be in the way for fellow blacksmiths that work here, I just jump for one place to another to collect information. I already got my 3/5 quest, but I have permitted to see their collections. A direct permission from the owner herself, which she stated after we done with our quest-esque dialog. She leaves the place and disappears to upstairs before I start stuffing my view with these creations. Where can I get myself into equipment paradise on Londinium? As far as I know, these two places are the closer I can get. Of course, the other one is grandgrand workplace, since I am myself stuffing my creations there. Even the second blacksmith’s place I have visited before is much simpler than this, as they only specializing in making cooking utensils. There is not much to do there. The workers were even try to invite me to drink with them, in their seemingly endless free time. That wasn’t bad, and I may get new friends if I agreed to join them, but somehow I feel I cannot just abandon this quest. So, I just politely ask for my leave after I have done with my part for the quest there.
I pull out one spear from the group and bring it to the nearest blacksmith not far from my right direction. I ask him about how to create a twirling part from the spear design. He is a nice person. He gives me a complete step by step instruction about how they usually create the spear there. Well, I know it doesn’t mean that is the only way to create such effect for the creation, but it always nice to know what other’s think and choose for the method, so I may know the mistake on my method I never know before or how to improve it. Part of advantages from this quest is so I can learn from the difference I’ve saw from other blacksmiths. I satisfied with the quest so far because of it, even though that may not the original purpose from the quest designer, and it is just me using this advantage since it is indeed exist along with the quest. Also, it sure nice to have a good communication with the instructor. Moreover if he also provide the practice in the scene, like this. The blacksmith I ask before even push me to try creating similar design for spearhead. I want to refuse be he insist it won’t take my time too long. So, I agreed and do the forge.
The blade itself already shaped and I just need to twirl it, carefully with care. The sudden-formed-instructor is laughing beside me when I slowly bend the metal. Maybe he thinks my work is too slow, too much slow I think. Well, I can’t help it, I just don’t want to miss the surprise. That surprise thing like every time I discover something. I think not much people can understand it, the way I follow the flow and let the current naturally leads me to a never-ending adventure is what I cherish so much. The voyage to meet something new, something that I never seen before, something that will give me ‘surprise’. A satisfied kind of surprise, and so I can find surprise in this practical lesson. The blade starts to form the curling effect like what I have seen before. The blacksmith applauds me and encourages me to continue the work. Ha, now that I have known how to bend like that, this method seems simpler that how it looked. I keep moving my grip, following the design like the original. The instructor keeps encouraging me. I am now feeling confident and increasing my pace. The instructor loudly gives me spirit, and then… (crack)
The spearhead is broken. We both sitting duck, watching the broken part falling, and made a loud ‘clank’ noise, filling the sudden silence. No words come out from any of us. I am staring blankly to the other spearhead part on my hand. Will he mad at me? will the owner suspend her previous quest confirmation? I don’t know. My hand is shaking. I force to shift my gaze little by little, toward the instructor beside me, and meet… his eyes. “What the…” I am about to jump, but a pair gentle hands are tapping my shoulder, from behind. It was hers, the owner. Arrrghhh, I cannot think about how to fix this anymore. So, I just do the first thing comes to my mind. I close both of my palm on each other and lower my head. “Please, forgive me. I will pay for the weapon” yeah, that will be the fastest way to fix it, so I can continue for the next blacksmith before I do any more troubles. I hope she forgives me, although I don’t think most people will just let it loose like what I did. In addition, this sudden silence is frustrating. Then, after not so long moments, I raise my head, little by little peeking on her, and I see… her smile. Oh, thank god. “Are you done?” she brush her palm on my head as she said that. “Are you about to go for next workshop? I suggest you try the workshop near main road” she still talks normally like she was when we first chatted. “But… the spear…” “Ah, don’t mind that” but “I can easily fix it, just finish your lore first” really, just like that? “Hey, you are about to be a blacksmith right? Is okay to fail in early attempt rather than later” she shows her clean teeth, smiling, after giving me that words. “Ah, I think you must go now. Before it too late” she take a look on the sky outside when we are handshaking. “Bye”

I am still wondering if I should create the weapon that has been broken in previous blacksmith workshop, because of my silliness. Argh, I shouldn’t have to be overreacted only by tiny improvement, and then thought about how easy it was. Sure, it seems I was about to understand how to create that shaping properly, but I was too hasty and broke it. Nyeh, what a day. Although I still like the way the owner calmed me, and told me it was fine. Although, I still feel obligated and will pay her back someday. The method also rather intrigued me. I know there must be a way to shape the metal like that, and when I spotted that their creations, my heart was jump in awe and urged to ask them about the method. Ah, when I think about it that way, it wasn’t so bad. I get new knowledge and half of the quest done.
My feet bring me back to the main road, which still crowded as usual. I ignore the current direction of crowd and instead slipping toward my next destination. I’ve heard it located among the other workshop near the main road. It’s not so hard, since it stand out so much. Not because the glamorous ornaments all over it, but rather the contrast than the other shops around it. This is the fourth blacksmith workshop, and I finally arrived in front of it. From the look of it, the place itself is rather similar like the other workshops in case of appearance, with the addition one area filled with large amount of broken weapons and armors. Really? What would they do with these rusty metals? Well yeah, except for the fact they can be used as recycled material, I have no idea what would they do with these amount. Are they really want to recycle all that? It’s so ineffective. When I work at grandgrand workplace, I never meet such thing as run out of raw materials to the point we need to collect large amount of rusty metal to recycle. Therefore, what they currently do here is somewhat unknown for me.
My curiosity pushes me to walk further into the place. I found myself quite easy to enter, even with my height. The entrance is so big that 7 inch height cat can even enter the place with ease. I take a look to the sides and found there is no paneling to cover the front of this place. It’s an open building with no room and proper walling, except for the back and both sides. The furnace itself can be seen directly from outside, which makes someone can easily locate this place from far away. Such an easy-planed building. I wonder who made this. My fingers followed the edge of the entrance pillar. Hmm, I know what kind of this wood, but no, I am no woodcrafter. By pushing my feet to walk further, I abandon the pillar without looking back at it, and turn my face to the front. Suddenly, a giant face of lion greets me. “Whoaaaa” myself! Or not… I am not that bearded. Besides, the statue is kind of shiny. From the material perhaps? I can only guess the statue was made from metal. Yeah, this is a blacksmith workshop. It’s more reasonable to be made from metallic material rather than anything else. Except it was made from something magical that I don’t know how to handle it yet, metal is the only answer comes to my mind. Hmm, yeah it’s decided. The statue was made from metal.
I bring myself closer to the statue and knock it lightly with the back of my finger. A familiar echo faintly reveal itself and gives me smile. “Indeed, metal” I don’t stop on one point and continue knocking on the other part of statue, and another, and another again. I am about to complete the song before someone finally tap my shoulder. “Excuse me” ah now, part of my musician self has flown away, along with my delusions. “Pardon” the sudden intrusion makes me cannot look away from the voice owner, which I found him as a rather middle aged man with thick beard and a rather large iron pole on his hand. His height that rather shorter than average made me lower my gaze to see at his expression when I back to standing position. “Ho, are you young un, a customer?” such question, fired right to the point. Perhaps I was disturbed them without me knowing. “Sorry…” ah, that’s right. There is more important thing to say first. “an Iron Tofu blacksmith telling me to meet you” then I bend my body a little. A proper greeting, such thing seemed important since they totally made all the blacksmith I’ve meet so far didn’t mistook me as a bad person. I am glad that whether it because of my luck or those Landers are actually good person even before I have meet them, they were all nice to me.
I take a quick glance toward the voice owner while I am back to standing position. His expression seems normal, as I have a difficult to read thick bearded people, except when they said something or express their feeling loudly. He crosses his arms, which is enough for me to understand that he is about to say something important. “I don’t trust you” what? “but why?” our eyes met, and so now I can see a little fire of determination burning in it, blazing as he takes a deep breath and finally talks again. “Hrmph, I don’t see your performance yet. How do I know you are qualified or not” man, why so serious. I know some people consider blacksmith as an art, but come on, how people even start if they don’t even know anything. There should be a place called ‘zero’ before ‘one’, ‘two’, and so on. “So, how will I show you that I am qualified?” I grin after I said that, and then quickly follow the person as he suddenly walk toward a lighted furnace. “Here, create a knife head for me” he hands me the materials and a hammer, and then take a sit not far from where I currently stand. That’s it? no detail on how the shape, ornament, whatsoever? Well, a normal knife then. I’ve known about usual knife made by Landers. There are several requests to make that added to Grandgrand workshop not so long ago, so I am pretty much familiar with the method. It doesn’t too much time before I finish my work, and then hand it to him.
I am still sitting as I hand the knife head, since he is still within my arm reach. He doesn’t look surprised, nor disappointed. Just like that? Oh well, at least I can get my quest finished by it. I am still waiting, witting on my place as he looks at the knife head closely. “To be honest, I just want to see how you craft young un. I don’t care with your method, hahahaha” nyeh, whatever. Although I am still surprised to see him become mused all of the sudden. Ah, that’s right, I don’t even know how to read his expression. I just smile, redeeming my failed attempt to impress him. Yeah, even that was quick one, I still put my mind to it and keep the quality as same as when I work with Grandgrand. Well, I create it like this, more because I have fun with it than to make it as impressive as famous weapon. So, I don’t feel too much disappointed. “Well, then with this I give you your 4/5 quest done” his eyes flicker as he look closely at me. Somehow this time, I can see him happy looking as I thank him and ask for permissions to leave.

I stand in confuse on the center of the widest road at St. Pancrass station. The main road never felt this cramped. There are way too many people that disturb my attempt to concentrate on solving my problem. This thing suddenly hit my head and giving me headache for this entire time. I feel so fooled, as I don’t know why I just finally think about it. Where the heck is the next blacksmith workshop. I forgot to ask previous blacksmith about the next location, and I have walked this far without even knowing where to go. Damn it, now there is no better way except by trying to backtrack from where I failed before, walking back to the path I have walked, which is somewhat messy, or so I thought. A sudden realization comes to my mind as I finally notice the street I am at. This street. My mind broadened as I look at surrounding, and then understand that this route is more familiar than what I’ve thought. This is the usual way toward Grandgrand workshop, and the place is actually not too far from here. Just a small shortcut here and there, and then I will arrive at my usual workplace.
I’ve walked along this path for every morning and know the route very well. The familiar buildings on the sides of road stands still as my memory serves. Although I still can’t memorize each of them very well, just by guessing is enough to tell what building is that and what people usually do inside. Yeah, that usually true, and doesn’t bring me to awkward situation so far. However, now I wonder if one of the buildings around here is actually a blacksmith workshop. I am desperate and cannot ask people. For more accurate, I don’t think any of them will give me the answer I need. This confusion, engulfing me with the sense of mistrust. Damn, this will only worsen my attempt to communicate. With my mind full of negative thoughts, I will only confuse what people say with anything that suit my conclusion, fulfill the desire of my negative mind, and reject anything that not suited for it. That precisely why gathering info with this kind of mind is bad, and so I’ve come to sole conclusion to try and solve the problem myself.
Hmm, what if this is not the right thing to do. I am not completed the quest yet, and Grandgrand is the quest provider. It’s like I have abandoned the quest and come back at him. No. I can’t. There should be a way to complete this quest, and that will be to find another blacksmith workshop before coming back to grandgrand. I start searching, running around the place to find if there is a workshop somewhere around here which I have missed. I make my way through the crowd, slide left and right to come closer from one point to another, trying to check if there is some parts inside building that indicate there is a blacksmith working there. Where is it? Where is the place? There are food stands, potion seller, and artisan gallery, but no weapon shop or such in this place. Gah, why is that, am I about to leave St. Pancrass area?
Okay, now that I know observing won’t work, I should start asking around. I feel I have calmed enough to talk normally with people. Now that the situation becomes clearer, the problem itself is not that hard. I don’t have to blame people for my difficultness. “Sorry for interrupting but, are you currently need a blacksmith to do something for you?” I have made my way toward one of shops I was randomly picked before, by a quick glance. The owner was zoned out in front of his shop, looked at ceiling. He takes a glance at me, and then tilts his head a little. Confused? Ah, maybe he just doesn’t know how to respond with my question that came out of blue. “Ah no, I don’t. Sorry, I just don’t have enough money for extra fix right now” what, was he just misunderstood me as a job seeker? “Err, no” “but I heard an old woman need help to fix her meat-cutting knife” “oh really?” he may had mislead by my question before, but he still can provide me with the answer I need. “Do you know where I can meet her?” “hmm, if you follow this way and meet a blacksmith workshop, turn left before that place and you will find a butchering place, she is one of the worker there” a blacksmith workshop? The only blacksmith workshop around here is grandgrand’s one. Oho, it turned out to be a great opportunity, since I can meet the blacksmith and report my finished quest back which not far from it. I quickly thank him and run toward the designated place. Ah, I wonder what he staring at, but since he said he doesn’t need a blacksmith, I can only wonder if he need another person with compatible crafting class.
After running for a while, I finally arrive to the place. A fair place as the cowshed usually is. I quickly spot a person while I take a look at surrounding. She is not too much stand out, but the place kind of made her stand out, maybe the contrast is too strong. “Excuse me?” “Nyem” her eyes flickers as she turn her body slowly, so slowly, to face me. With her arms behind her back, she challenges my gaze with fiery determination. Her short figure doesn’t give any impression of her being a slow old woman. Instead, her clean appearance is giving an impression that she is indeed a lady that can stand on her own feet. “Owy, what nyu you want young un?” good. Now I almost forgot why I come here, if not because I see a seemingly broken knife on one of the surfaces. “I just want to know if you need a blacksmith to fix your knife” “nyem?” her gaze changing from the knife and me, and then says “owh, nyu here for this knife? Good young un” I don’t see why I cannot expect her movement was actually that flexible when she took the knife and hand it to me, but yeah, she is that good. “Here, fix it” “ah no, I am not here to fix it. I want to ask if you have bribed someone to fix it” I show both my palm in front of me to show that she may misunderstood me of someone, and thus I reject her request. However, she just nonchalantly put the knife on my palm, without even looking at me “Nyaah, here, fix it fast” nyeh, this kind of situation. I know I have meet one before., and so I know very well I cannot advance without working on this task first.
The place is not suited for doing the fix, if not because my handy blacksmith skill and the hard metallic surface I found near the cowshed, I will suggest to bring the knife to grandgrand workshop instead. I start by hammering both sides of knife’s surface, shaping it back into flattened form. The knife responds nicely, beside it may have been used for so long, it hasn’t been rusty yet as it will cripple when I hammer it while it still cold. This knife sure has a good material. I wonder who made it. A weird idea comes into my mind but I quickly get rid of it by hammering the knife more loudly. I don’t want to know who made it. Nah, I am sure I will just get an endless nightmare if I think too much about it. Hammering is also good for throwing tantrum, since inanimate object rarely respond back even I do it hard. Like this silent knife that obediently follow the shaping process and transform as the hammer told. It doesn’t have to think and get the job done, but yeah, it is because the knife is an inanimate object.
The shape is big as expected from butchering knife. I still on flattening process since the hard metal surface I use as an anvil doesn’t have a flat top surface. Instead, it has smooth semi-curved surface that can bend the knife to wrong way if I don’t carefully control my hammering direction. I have seen something like this back then in real world, but it made from wood. This is where the cow head usually laid before it separated from the rest. I have used to it, so I don’t think too much about it except refer it as one part of process one must do before achieving a fresh fat cow’s meat. Nyeh, now I am hungry again, thinking of any possible dish created from cow’s meat. Moreover if I can add tomato, salt, and chili while frying it outside. Dayum, such meaty lunch. Ah, that’s right, I need someone with chef subclass to do that. I get rid of an illusion of a butchered cow head staring at me, and continue hammering.
The flattening gone smooth, as I don’t left many holes and distribute extra cripples on each of them while hammering, and now it’s done. I start shaping the blunt side and changing back and forth between it and both flat surfaces to shape it back into smooth straight blunt side as it supposed to be. I work carefully as to not do the flat surfaces too much and decrease its thickness. It will be laughable if the knife the client gave was thick but when I return it become as thin as paper. If I am the client, I will shout ‘what da hell is that’ and charge the person in duty for not doing as he supposed to do. I hammer the blunt side carefully, and ignore the sharpened side for now. The side is almost shaping as straight as it supposed to be. I am happy, smiling, knowing that the process run smoothly so far. It must because I have handled similar sharp object before when I was normally work in Grandgrand workshop. Using the practice in actual work for this kind of occasion sure is handy. It’s not that long until I done with the blunt side, and move to final phase.
Now for the sharp side, I just need to shape it almost as straight as the blunt side, but not too much, since I can grind it for the final sharpening process. With this, I should able to ask her for the blacksmith and get the last 5/5 quest done. It doesn’t take too much time until I advance to sharpening step which I do it by grinding the knife to the surface I used as anvil before. I produce a bottle of water from my bag, since doing it with water will fasten the process and produce hard edged knife. The grind surface usually made from special stone, but any hard surface like metal normally give the same result. I start grind the knife, steadily, carefully, to give a fair amount of depth for prismatic triangle shaped on sharpened side, without sacrificing it’s durability by grinding it too much and make it too thin. I shift left and right for both sides occasionally, dividing the time to grind both sides by a fair amount. Nyeh, I want to drink, but it seems I need the water more for the job rather than my stomach. I wonder if that old woman will provide me clean water if I ask her, which I guess she is too fragile to do that sort of thing, and so I hold myself to ask her too much. Ah, it seems I am done with the knife. I check the sharpness by touching my finger on the edge. Yep, it’s done.
“So, where is the blacksmith?” it’s better to me to get right to the point, before she start mislead me and then things become more messy. “Blacksmith?” I nod in respond for her question. She takes a while measuring me and the knife I gave her, and then she finally answers “nyem, nyu can go thar” she points toward the building I know very well, which made me facepalm, and give up to not ask her any further. Ah well, it all came to this whether I give my effort or not.

“So, you come back here?” “yeah” “and you don’t complete your quest yet?” “I am, err…” he let out a long sigh. I take that as he disappointed with my efforts. I know very much about him since we have been working together for enough time to understand each other expressions, and so that’s why I can guess that he is indeed disappointed at me. “Ah, whatever” what? “I know it will come to this, and so I have prepared a backup for you” I stunned. Such a good old man “because I know you are stupid” meh “and so this is a blacksmith for you to introduce yourself, khekhekhe” whatever. So, with this, the quest should be done. My gaze quickly shifted to the figure who comes in from the backyard, and comes to the door behind Gradngrand. Her curly hair, her eyes that can cheer even a saddened heart, her childish smile that brighten the day, her familiar cheery attitude, I know her very well. She has come and chat with grandgrand several times before, and that was how her features burned so well into my memory. “Heyya Lukav” she places her arm on her thigh, with each of her back palms on each side of it. I answer by crossing my arms and squint at her, “you know my name, and I still don’t know yours” “Tsktsktsktsk” she waves her point finger in front of me, and continues “there is something more important. Your last permit right? But before that, can I ask you something?” that was quick. I don’t even have the time to think about the answer. “Okay…” well, I am the immortal one, so if it will only affect me then I think it’s okay. Her eyes widened, and she constantly jumps at me, which caught me off guard “yaaaaaaay” “waaait, ah geez” such an energetic girl. Although I still surprised with her sudden reaction, I have manage to put her back in front of me. “So, what do you want to ask?” now her expression changed again and become much brighter. She opens her palm and shows me a parchment, and then says “can you make this?”
“Whoa are you sure?” that’s pretty much everything I can say to respond for her proposal, as we walk toward the furnace and start the work. From the look of it, the size is sure big, and so I don’t know if our materials are enough. I do look at Grandgrand in question, but he just raise his arms as if stating for me to let her to do as she wishes. Well yeah, if that’s what the owner want, then I should follow it and act as it is actually a job. Although I still fear that we may end up using all the materials here, the curiosity felt stronger than worry. Then, after we come to the working are, I can start making the smallest part as described in parchment by hammering and shaping several materials together as needed. The part I currently work on is about 7 inch long with cylindrical shape and impact-hardening design on one side. Then, it comes to my mind that I am actually not sure how to make it properly, so I decide to use molding instead, since it can hold many variations and details all in one with faster method than usual forging. After I put all materials inside container and let them burn them inside furnace, I prepare the dirt as usual and arrange and shape it so they can contain a cylindrical holed object inside it. the hole is the tricky part, but I can manage it by using long wooden stick to glue it and make it stand firm without disturbed by the large quantity of liquid that will be poured later. I measure the length and thickness for each end to ensure the final creation will be in symmetrical cylindrical-holed shaped form. Yeah, it can be done, and I already knew how to measure it properly since I have made similar creation before. However, this time I also need to choose materials carefully since the purpose is different from usual method to make cooking utensil. Hmm, seems like the thickness is about right, and so the metal liquid is also ready. I carefully take the container from the furnace and pour the liquid metal inside it into the mold. The blacksmith girl sits beside me as she see me in excitement. Now that I think about it, if she also a blacksmith, then she should be able to create something like this with ease. I shift my gaze quickly to the mold’s hole, as I pour the liquid metal carefully into it. Little by little, bit by bit, still focus to prevent myself from making any unnecessary mistake. Then after all liquid has poured, the usual waiting time has come. We need to wait until it will finally cooled.
We discuss many things about the creation while still waiting, mainly about the design of this creation and how well it will perform in actual use. She sure knows her stuff. Although I don’t see her giving her all when we were in making process, which made me think she is more into method rather than practical work. Therefore, discussing with her like this really helps me to broaden my view for crafting method. She is a nice girl to chat with. Well, especially when we have same topic to converse. Also, I found her also can easily synchronize her work with me, and so I am with her. It does well when we work together on making several other molds for the rest of the design. I think it is her field, and that’s why she can quickly finish her work with ease, faster than me. Well, I was never faster, except when my adrenaline risen. The small thought made me grinned, but she notices it and makes fun of me. Nyeh, she sure is fast to blend with people. I don’t even know when we came to this friendly chat. I found myself still enjoy chatting with her, even when the time to bring the hardened metal out from mold is about to come.

Now, this is the hard part. I didn’t even understood when the cheery girl talked about mana container before. However, I still can follow her practical instruction. As I am now currently working to shape the materials, sometimes I just amazed how new this concept of creation for me, and so my crafting go on like a small adventure. An amazing world inside an amazing world, where there are always things to makes me surprised. As the material slowly form following her instruction, I hammer it with full of joy, wondering what else I can discover if I follow this route. Like this plate metal, it’s so bland and plain, but it also have so much possibility to change into any other forms. I am currently shaping it to be much rounder, giving the look like a ‘U’ from the front. This should be where the mysterious part will be placed. Something I don’t see in the parchment, and I don’t know how to create it with forging. I am filled with suspicion that the part is actually a ‘mana container’ she talked about earlier. I wonder what the shape will looked like, how to make it, or rather, what class can make it. I am aware that there are many other subclass in Elder Tale, and so their ability is on different layers than blacksmith. So far, I just focus on my own crafting class and so I don’t know very much about the others. I’ve heard that they can made something amazing, and combining force with the other subclass can open possibility to make more amazing discoveries. I should make something too later, and so I thought trying something new like this would improve my knowledge. I turn the pliers on my hand as soon as she instructs me to do so, and create both opening on each side. Then I start combine it with another similar shaped metal, and create a small vacuum area inside them. It should be hard to combine without actual welding tool like in real world, but I have told that both parts shouldn’t have to connected with metal, rather with another materials. So, I just put them aside and group them with another parts.
She arranges the parts I’ve made, the shape now is almost similar to what I saw in parchment. She nods a few times when I point out several details, where I need her exact opinion whether it compatibles or not, or rather were I did it right or not. It’s not that I completely blind, I still have some clues for whatever the creation will actually be. I know the complete set from the parchment and I can guess the way to create it with my blacksmith skill. Yeah, that all I can do as I don’t have the knowledge to make it yet, and so use current opportunity to learn with her. I take a quick glance toward her while grinding another part in front of me, to smoothen it. She looks drowned in enthusiasm while trying to cope one part to another, like a child playing with toy blocks. Ah so, she also has that side in her. I want to tease her, but it seems I will just ruin her mood when I let out my voice now. I should give more focus on my work instead. Actually, it’s already fun when I craft by myself. It becomes more fun since I have someone to share with. I shape the mold in awe, and enjoy my times. This time is a cyclindrical object with several rectangles with curved edge on its surface. The holes are distributed evenly except on ring areas at each end. I use same method as the previous one, but since it holed enough, I don’t have to add extra holding for the hole-shaping part of mold inside. With this much of holes, it should be appropriate to just destroy the mud-made mold after the metal solidified. I am too focus on giving the detail for the mold, and so I am a bit surprised when she just appear beside me. Nice timing, she is much better than me at creating detailed mold, and so she join me, just like that, as if she know what I am doing and help me finish the job faster. We work together in synch. I always love when we do it. It almost like I have another pair of hands that helps me doing the job.
Sometimes, I switch into molding again, since I found several parts are difficult to make, if I only depend on usual forging method. The details are too much. Several parts even have thin plate-shaped details among them, which I found it will be so much time consuming and need great amount of concentration to create them with usual hammering process. Mold, on the other hand, have so much flexibility since I can shape them as needed and the liquid heated metal will follow the shape. Well, as long as the liquidity is about right and the mold is hard enough to hold the heat. So far, we have made several molds and then destroy them to recycle them and create another mold. This is one time experiment, and so I don’t need to create permanent mold. Yeah, everything is neat so far. I put the last piece to the group and let her arranges it, so it looks similar like what shown in parchment. I inspect all the parts on the group. So far, I still don’t know how to connect all of these parts, and notice there are some parts in parchment that I don’t know how to make them as blacksmith. I still follow the instruction in believe we will come to that phase later, or maybe not, I don’t know. I take a bottle of water and drink it with heart content. Ah, what a hot day. She also look sweaty, although it’s not too much shown on her appearance. I hand her the bottle for charity reason, but then I realize, but it’s too late, she puts her lips on the bottle.

Bit by bit the water flows through her lips. I can only watch, and wonder if she thinks what I think. The flood of sweats rain down on her skin as she emptied the bottle, but her gaze hasn’t been shifted from the bottle. Ah, she must be very thirsty, and so many things to think of. Well, small thing like that usually unnoticed in heated manufacturing process. Not that I hope she will feel something to begin with, I just don’t want to make unnecessary awkward moment while we are on the job. “What are you looking at?” I startled, but still manage to hold my composure. I wave both of my arms, “nothing” she still look at me in question for moments, then finally shift her gaze back toward our creations. I let out long sigh, and thus also back with my work. There isn’t much to do, since I have made all parts I saw in parchment, and so I am currently cleaning the tools. I left the furnace on for another work, if there actually is and not time consuming since I already gone through St. Pancrass almost this entire day. A small sense of fatigue actually kills my waist, and so I stretch it and made a clumsy sound. I look at her, but she seems didn’t notice it, and still staring at the parchment. I go and arrange the coals inside furnace, before walking toward wallboard to check some request. Hmm, creating a great shield? That will be time consuming. A claymore? The too, I wouldn’t be able to giving a good detail as requested, and what this attached small shields. Will the wearer use it in front of the fist, and punch opponent with it? That may be true, but I doubt this requester intends to use the item for that. Ah, she is a tailor, and there are supposed to be some hooks behind the shield. Maybe to tie them on armor? Yeah, that more likely.
I am still staring to the wallboard, before notice her calls. “Lukav, please create this one too” she points to a picture in parchment. Wait, there is that one? I don’t notice that part was exist before, or was I missed it? I take the parchment for closer look and burn the image in my head. The part is similar to a cube, with small vacuum hole inside and cooling rigs outside. Hmm, this one seems complex, a bit hard to understand with simple banging method. Yep, molding. I can’t think about any other method to create it. The detail is too much and I don’t want to break it or go through large circle of process, only to make a simple shape. I start on creating the base mold. Recycling previous mold at this time should be the only option, since we have been used almost all materials for mold. Although giving so much detail on mold is not my thing, but I can still manage it by creating each small part separately before attaching it to the rest of mold. It’s a time consuming process. I wonder how clockworker in the past made their creation, and so I am glad when the cheery girl approaches me and helps me with the mold. Once again, she helps me with this part. I take a notice that she has special touch with her flexible fingers. She is actually very capable, on shaping the temporary mold, with fast and flexible. It doesn’t take too much time until she finishes with shaping, and then hands it to me to connect with the rest of my rough shaped mold. I can go with the detail, but if I did that, it will be slower than her and thus slows down her pace. That would be ineffective and so we have agreed to divide our job with me working on rough shape and she on the detail.
It doesn’t take too long before we finally done with it, and the group it with the rest. We stare to them, in silence. Many feelings grow inside me, as I enjoy watching our creation. This is good. After working on them for so long, I finally can see them and touch them in real, not from a picture anymore. With this, I may see their potential with my own eyes, if only they are all combined. “So, how to put them together?” “I don’t know” “what?” this is confusing, and I thought we actually made something good this entire time. With this kind of design, I can only think this weapon will be a blast. Yep, this is a weapon. I am amazed when I saw the design on that parchment before, and wonder if this weapon can be used as similar weapon in real life. It won’t be as good as slicing monsters, but I can imagine the difference in using it in actual combat. But yeah, I will know if only these parts are combined, which none of us know how to do it. Although I am a bit disappointed, I still amazed by her idea when she first shown me the parchment. I am too… understand why, as blacksmith, she has that blaze in her eyes, like a beast trying to catch her prey. So, I have this kind of feeling that I must push her further, rather than whine and throw many objections at her. “So, how to make this thing works?” I wouldn’t get anywhere if I don’t ask her directly. I start to think that she is putting a prank on me, but no. I look at her eyes and find an ecstatic excitement in it. Something I understand as blacksmith. I can guess she is happy with our creation, although I still don’t know the full concept of it. She suddenly turns toward my direction, which makes me awake from the pressure of her gaze. She giggles, playfully, and gives me another request “want to go to Sarum?”
