my eternal solace
Deep gasps of air filled his lungs with the essential oxygen for him to continue on with his task. His hands struggled to grab anything that they could grab on in order to keep him from stumbling entirely over.
Timur pressed his back against the trunk of a tree, taking the slight break in the pursuit to catch his breath. "Otebis!" The sun had barely passed the halfway point in the clear skies, adding to his frustration with a good amount of sweat forming in his armor and clothes. He was only level one, yet he was straying off into the great unknown to kill some things and hopefully get stronger in return. Now it seemed like it was a mission to get himself killed in the process and delay any sort of progress to ascension.
The slithering of his opponents' scaly skin against the forest floor sent a shiver down his spine. It reminded him of his nearly imminent doom if he didn't get himself out of the hole he dug himself into. His health was already halfway depleted and without any sort of help, he was done for.
Now within two meters of his enemies, he took the visual cues to break off into another pursuit. Killing one of them seemed to have rustled the bunch into a frenzy and sent themselves after the human. Litost sprinted as fast as he could toward what he deemed safety but upon arrival only revealed it to be a small clearing in a massive forest. He swore to himself again, turning his attention to the direction he had just come from. His opponents couldn't have been that fast. Keeping up with a man with two legs was a near-impossible task. Good. Unfortunately, he took off in a direction perfectly right of the point in which he entered the circular knoll. His enemies would soon be on him again. They just had to bide their time.
"God damn snakes. I come out here to try and get a few more of this experience and now I'm running for my life." Litost ducked under a few low-hanging branches and rolled over an overgrown root.
Help in any form would have been appreciated. Dearly appreciated.
