Playing with Lander’s Child

“Tug hiiimm!” “Awoooo….!” “w-wait…” four no, five kids hugging my legs from all sides. My STR is high enough to hold them, but I just fall down to play along with their scheme. Meh, how I end up in this situation again? Ponder. Hmm… maaaaybe if it’s not for that strange quest, I will be enjoying my meal with three familiar Landers near city entrance right now. Not that I whine about sudden intrusion in my resting time. I was hoping to finish the quest along with resting myself from fatigue. The quest itself didn’t dictate anything dangerous, just ‘spent your time with kiddies around here, don’t move or teleport to another area’. The place itself is an open place near the central, surrounded by some trees that separate it from the road. Nice place to take a nap, moreover on afternoon like this. That’s what I thought before knowing the fact of how the quest really is. 

I notice some passerby laughing while looking at us. I lay on my stomach while the kids playing on my back. Sometimes they pull my ears out of curiosity, and I just let out ‘nyaaa’ voice then they scream happily. Meh, I wonder if I can rest while doing this.

"I see you're quite bussy there." I appear from behind a tree, wearing light chain protectors over my japaneese shrine maiden outfit, with my whole style themed in white, and violet. I smile a bit, moving with my tail from side to side, playing with my hair with one hand. I appeared silently without any trace of moving arround, which gives me a little mysterious aura. On my back a nodachi can be seen. I walk to you slowly. "I hope i don't disturb..." I say with calm, but quite happy voice, smiling on the group before me. I stop playing with my hair and put my hands behind my back, looking down on lying Werecat surrounded by kids. "It seems you could use some help there." I giggle while looking curiously on the lying werecat.

“Please, help me” I almost scream after hearing the lady suggestion. Eh, I don’t know there was other adult here beside me. Then again these kids was tugging my furs all over my body, disturbing my attempt to think straight. I still lay on my stomach while tilting my head toward her. “Hello miss, are you also here for the quest?” I take my time to look at her appearance while I am at it. So eastern with white and violet, I wonder if she was also born in the same region as me in real life. Although all my racial feature has been transformed into this furry character when Elder Tale become reality. 

Some of the kids are playing with my legs. I am glad werecat race in Elder Tale doesn’t have tail, or I am not sure what they will do with that. I suddenly up and make some of kids sliding on my back to my legs. “Yaaaaay…” they seemed happy with that and try to climb my body again. I take a proper sit and put some of kids on my lap. The other seems happily running around on circle then rushing themselves toward the new guest. I take the time to introduce myself “Ah sorry, my name is Lukav”

After i help the werecat to sit i smile on the kids too. Then when he introduces himself i smile and say. "Nice to meet you Lukav-san." I bow a little, smile at you, and sit down, while still curiously swinging with my tail from side to side. "My name is Lífthrasir, but feel free to call me Rin." I introduce my self, and move a little with my ears. "Yes. I'm there for the quest too." I start while two kids curiously sit behind me, looking on the tail, moving left and right, left and right... "You thought too, that it would be nice quest too rest, huh?" I smile then while looking arround with a smile. I open my interface and remove my sword, so i can't endanger the kids. One of the smiles and tries to grab my tail. "Kyah!" I gasp and blush, when i quickly struggle and hold my own tail in my hands to protect it from the kids. I relax a little when my tail is safe, but another kid tries to approach my ears. "H-hey... Stop it please." I try to evade it a little but another kid catches my tail, when i try to protect my ears. I gasp again, holding both with my hands. "I underestimated this..." I sigh, and then smile again, when the kids, seeing that i'm worried by their attempts stop approaching my tail and ears and laugh again.

I just stare blankly when the kiddies start swarming toward @lifthrasir, seems they like her a lot and tugging here from every dirrection. Well, in that case, I can rest now (yawn) I take two of the kids then hug them while fall myself on the grass, pinning them lightly. They wriggle on my arms shouting ‘let go of me, let go of me’ faintly. I pretend to not hear that and continue napping. Ah, it so refreshing to have time for nap. I try to close my eyes… slowly… (flip) a kid shove my forehead, forcing my eyes to open again. “What!” my hands move instinctively to lift the kid on my head, releasing the others on my arms “yaaaay” sigh, there is no end of them. 

I scratch on my back head and talking toward @lifthrasir “Yeah, I attempt to, but now I know it’s not possible” I smile toward her realizing that she also experienced the same. Hmm, I am looking around, trying to find something to make them busy. There are some trees, but too far. Well, farther than my arm stretch. I still insist to use this time for resting, so I am too lazy to stand. Around us are just grasses. Hmm, what to do… ah right! “you guys come here” I am waving my arm trying to call them all “come here, come here” ‘wooo’ ‘what is it’ ‘what is it’. They surprisingly easy to attract, maybe they just run out of idea to play with. I use the opportunity to gather them and make them stand in line on my side. “So, you guys put your hands here” I am trying to suggest some of kids near me to hang on my arm “Yeee… hold your grip like that and…” “wooOOOooOOoo” I lift my arm and start swinging them, slowly. “woooOOoOOoo” see, seems they like it. ‘Me too’ ‘heeey, change with me’ some kids try to pull his friend who currently enjoy swinging. “Nononono, who want to swing line up here” I lift my other arm on my sides ‘yaaaaaay’. Now they crammed on both of my hands, on my left “woooOOOoOOoo”, on my right “woooOOoOooo”. I swing my arm slowly, hoping them to enjoy and forget harassing us. Still, I only have two hands. There are still some kids who just watching their friends wooing on my arms, almost crying, I look at @lifthrasir pleadingly.

I rest for a while when the kids are again swarming arround Lukav. I close my eyes for a while, knowing that i heavily underestimated this quest. I never expected that lander kids could be this active. I giggle a bit. "I thought i could join them at this." I grinn a bit while looking at them. "Your STR stat should be big enough." I giggle a bit. I get up. I look at the sky. My long white hair is fluttering in the wind. I smile. Then i look down, seeing kids still swinging on Lukavs arms. When he looks at me with an expression which says: "Save me!". I wink on him with one eye.

I look arround checking the enviroment. "Well... A shrine maiden should support others." I smile. I close my eyes and raise my hand. "Damage Interception." I whisper and summon a stationary barrier 50cm above the ground before me. I climb on it, as it shines to catch attention of the kids. I hope the barrier will last long enough... Thinking meanvile on the inside. "Hey, what about playing a game together with everyone?" I smile on them while thinking about a game. That's bad... I never played games, and i can't possibly think of one so quickly... Crap... I should think about something quickly... I think hard about the game. While the kids are excited about the shining barrier I'm staying on i'm trying to find out something. I need to think of something quickly... I think while taking a quick look at Lukav.

[Wolf]

It was a perfect day for Wolf. Wolf was passing by an open place near the central. Open Area was the one place in this town that Wolf tried to avoid with all his might. He wasn't an explorer neither nature lover, so time spent at the Street/Open Area was strictly for relaxation. His long legs carried him through crowded path at a reasonably brisk pace, trying to avoid the usual groups of teenage girls that flocked around of the Street in search of cute boys.

These girls were anything but innocent. They were good at looking innocent, but as soon as they reached a particular place they were animals. Wolf saw a werecat playing with kids, and they entertained Wolf. Wolf laughed, and forgot about the crowded place. When he laughs, he tend to close his eyes. Wolf felt himself ram into a much smaller frame than his own, but the victim seemed to have lost her balance. Wolf should grip her in case she fell, and ate the dirt below their feet. Wolf sighed, His heart finally stopped beating after that sudden event. He knew that he could be in trouble if the girl kissed dirt, "I'm terribly sorry. I wasn't looking straight, my attention was in other places!" He bowed at the girl, pleading for forgiveness. He bumped into a Fox Tail who was with the Werecat. When happy, he forgot about his surroundings, people called Wolf, extraordinary. Wolf was wearing a leather armor ,and 2 swords hanged on his waist.

I thought there would be something to help the saddened kid when I look at @lifthrasir, but we just end up staring on each other, and laugh. I realize handling kids is not one of my best traits. So, I just lowering my arms and let them play among themselves. “There, there, play with your friends, okay?” I said it while pushing the back of kids that previously hang on my arms, then looking at @lifthrasir if she agrees with me. “Just let them do as they wish” I said that nonchalantly while lay on the grassy ground again. Let the afternoon sun shining calmly through the trees. The grasses felt a little cold on my palm, inviting me to sleep and just ignore the kids or @lifthrasir, or anybody else. I just done my work from the workshop today and just want to rest, but end up picking random quest with wrong purpose. I lay my body on the grass and close my eyes. I can feel what those kids doing with my body. I just try to ignore it. Hmm, what a nice afternoon. The sun light, the breeze, the napping grass, all of it is about right. What left is just these disturbances that I try to ignore. 

“Gaaah…” I have given up from ignoring them, and now cashing them around “Come here you…” ‘gyaaa’ ‘kyaaa’, the kids running around trying to escape from me. However my character built also boost in agility “Mwahahahaaha, you cannot escape from me” ‘noooo’ I grab some of them as much as my hand can hold, then put them down in group. “Ok, how about we… listen… to… storieeeeees” ‘yaaaaaay’ mweehehheh, as I thought my plan is superb. “So, anyone have request?” they seems think for a moment “story about princess” “hmm, ok” “I want story about knight” “that’s too” “frog and munches” “ok, wait what?” “ugly duck with long nose” meh, “hold down, how about listening to this one story first” yeah, I don’t even know what kind of story they already heard. I hope they will satisfied with the story I prepared. They are now looking on each other face, seems like they try to find some kind of hint to agree with. ‘Hmm, okay’ ‘okay’  “Yaaay. Now…” before I finish my words, a figure like an adventurer enter the location, and stumble to @lifthrasir. The kids stopped from their activities and looking to the new person. I can guess what they have in their mind, but I hope @lifthrasir may notice something that will harm both parties before it happens.

I'm realy bad when it comes to entertaining the others, huh? I say to myself in my thoughts while looking at Lukav. I smile, when i realise he probably thinks about the same thing. I can do nearly anything in this world, but when it comes to this I'm completely helpless. I think again when jumping off the fading barrier. I see Lukav talking to the kids arround him, as he says the sentence, which ended our little problem. I crossed arm on my chest, looking on the children happily playing among them selves. I look on the sky. It's a realy nice day today. It's a shame i can't just sleep. I sighed. The afternoon sun was shining calmly through the trees on me, Lukav, and the children. I heared the sound of children playing around, and i also could hear the rustle of the trees and grass in the wind. I keep looking at the sky, lost somwhere deep in my thoughts, while the wind is playing with my hair, and clothes.

Lukav sit's again. It seems he gave up on taking his nap. I hear him chasing around the children. Few childern hide behind me, when he tries to catch them, puting them down into a group, suggesting to listen to some stories. "Interesting." I giggle. "I haven't heard for long time, but in the past i used to love them." I say calmly, while looking on the happy kids surrounding Lukav and sugesting some ideas for his story. They have quite wild fantasy. I smile when i hear some suggestions. I started staring at the sky again. I hear the rustle of grass again, but this time, it isn't the wind. It must be another adventurer. I realise. My ears twiched. I realise, he must be realy close to me now. I try to turn arround, but he bumps into me, before i can turn around. He bumped into me and i nearly lost my balance. I turn arround completely now, seeing blonde man with long hair, in leather armor with two swords hanging at his belt. He apologizes quickly. "No problem at all." I smile at him. "I'm ok, no need to apologize." I continue. I dust of my clothes and armor and stay straight again. "Anyways I'm glad to meet you. My name is Lífthrasir, but feel free to call me Rin." I introduce myself to the stranger, and bow a little. "What brings you to this place. Are you for the quest too, or were you just wandering arround? Anyways, feel free to join us there." I step aside to see all the persons around me, without blocking their sight.

What other things that could spice up your life, if it's not companions. Well, Wolf's day started with a small accident on the street, but Wolf could relax because the victim was stronger and balanced than Wolf thought. Ah, It's a pleasure to meet you, Rin. I'm Wolf. He bowed like a noble at her while holding his chest, showing some respect just like in fantasy movies. I'm just wandering around, looking for a nice place to spend my entire day Wolf smiled. And, I wonder, what is the name of this strong-looking monk? whispered Wolf. Wolf looked at a monk who was playing with little kids, he must have a lot of experience with kids because he knew what to do. Before, Wolf heard that the kids wanted to hear some stories, Wolf remembered his childhood, when his mom used to read him books. Wolf let his ears listened to the story. Wolf sauntered a little bit further into the area, he let his butt touched the ground, and he relaxed a bit. People of The Land were starting to feel emotions and they have their own personality, that was what Wolf could see in these kids around Lukav, thought Wolf. Perhaps the expansion gave them these, or the apocalypse changed their system.  The apocalypse itself changed the perception of the adventures around, some became evil. Do these little kids have names?  Wolf continued the conversation, he looked at one of the kids, and tapped him on the head. Wolf grinned because the boy, who touched by Wolf, was smiling.

Both of @lifthrasir and adventurer talking on each other. An acquaintance? I don’t know, since the distance is a bit far. Also, there are these little fellows here around me, pleading me to start the story. There are still many kids around, since this place is an open area they can join in or walk out to their parent as they wish. They are all not from the same age, there are even some kids that so young and still roaming around their parents on the corner of this area. There are also boys and girls, playing as they are have been together since baby. Seems like this place is their usual playing spot. Meh, I also have my personal spots for playing when I was a child, some spots me and my bro chosen among the village. Even there will be just a plain area, we make the feature by ourselves. From goal posts to small pool, we have made them all. Ah, looking at them remind me how I miss real world. That’s right, I still have a story I promise to tell these kids, I don’t have to think about that now. I shift my gaze to look at them all thoroughly and the place. The busy street made a little small contrast to our place. The amount of buzz here can be compared to those in markets area, even in different format. Still, some of them agree when I ask them to being silent if they want me to begin the story. 

I take a sit in front of them, closing my eyes, hands on knee, and take a deeeeeeep breath, and then exhale it. “Ahem” ‘ahem’ ‘ achim’ I squinted as they copy what I have done. Neeaawnononono, I… don’t think it will go smoothly. They must plan something against me. Hmm, what is it, what you little guys hide under your cute smile. ‘Stoowy’ ‘please start’ “ah right, sorry, sorry, forgive me” I maintain my proportion and straighten my back. “Ahem” I squinted again and looking at their reaction. Hmm, no copying this time? Good, I will start the story. “There is a huuuuge castle far from this place, where a pumpkin princess locked inside the tower” ‘woooo, pumpkin princess’ ‘who did it to her’ ‘I am the knight’, I take a break and let them to think for a while before continue my story. “The princess was in love to a knight from faraway land, but his father doesn’t agree” ‘ooooh’ ‘poor princess’ ‘I don’t love pumpkin princess’. I stopped again for a while to let them relaxed, then continue. “Day by day pumpkin princess waiting for the knight to come from her window, and then! He saw him! the knight!” ‘ooooh’ ‘he comes’, one of them stands and run to his mother while holding his pant, maybe want to pee. I continue again “pumpkin princess looking at knight and asking ‘do you want to come here’ knight says yes, and then… pumpkin princess… drop her tail!” ‘OooOOohh’  “but the knight lifted by an elf!” ‘OOooOOoOoh’  “and then, pumpkin princess eats both knight and elf!” ‘OOOOOOOOoohhh’.

"I'm glad to meet you Wolf-san." I smile on Wolf and bow a little. "The strong-looking monk there is Lukav." I answer him, and turn arround too to see Lukav playing with kids. I listen to the story Lukav is telling the kids. I smile a little, with quite happy look on my face. Then I hear Wolfs question about their names. "I didn't ask them, but ofcourse they have them. The world started to live when we came to this world. Or maybe it lived before too, but we didn't notice it. I played the game in Japan when it was still a game. I try to remember, if I did see anything, but I just cant remember. But yesterday, when I was walking arround I was speaking with a Lander there. He had his name, his personality, and even background and memories. In the end..." I laugh a bit. "The only unnatural thing in this world are we." I finish my speech. My face looks calm, without a trace of emotion. "Well, I don't know why, but I feel more alive there, than in our own world." I say again with my calm, maybe a little sad, voice.

"That's a nice story." I smile a bit after staying silent for a while. "Well... Let me tell you another story now." I step forward when he finishes his story. "It's a story about young girl." I start with a calm voice. "She was living far from there... Behind the see, and the lands behind it, in a kingdom, where the sun rises." I smile a bit with a mysterious smile, as mz hair falls into mz eyes a bit, leaving a shade on my face. "The girl always wanted to play with others, but because she was a shrine maiden she had to stay inside without playing with the others." She continued, while changing her voice acording to the mood. "She had to take care of the shrine. She was smiling on everyone to make their lives happier, even when they were refusing her. Still, she had one thing, that was cheering her. Every time, when she went to sleep, she was creating a world in her dreams." I say while rising my hand. "Damage Interception." I whisper and the barrier appears in the form of a small floating sphere few centimeters above my hand. "In her dreamworld, she could play without being restricted, while she was obeying, and caring shrine maiden in the real one." I touch the sphere few times while speaking. "One day, in the real world, she went out with her only friend. Another shrinemaiden from the temple. They went to another village to help the Villagers there. They were attacked by a mysterious creature which was larger and larger day by day. The shrine maiden decided, that she would save the Villagers and banish the creature back, where it belongs. But when she reached the village with her friend it was too late. The creature attacked the village. The shrine maiden was frightened by the situation. Also, she recognized, that the creature was a demon from her dreamworld. She was unable to move, caught in the demons dark spells." I stopped with talking a bit. The children were listening to the story eagerly. I heared that they were saying something, but I just smiled and continued with the story. "However, the friend helped the shrinemaiden. She prayed to the gods, and exchanged herself with the shrinemaiden to free her from demons bonds. The shrinemaiden was finally able to move. Seeing her friend teribly hurt, she drew her sword, and attacked the demon. She fought fiercely with the demon, and she managed to banish him to the dreamworld. The friend smiled on her, thanking her for saving the village, before she passed out. Shrine maiden noticed that the dream world was real one too, thanks to her friend. She used her last bits of strength to open a gate to the dream world, to protect both, the dream world and the real world, and the villagers were finally save." She smiled, when the story ended. The childeren vere excited by the story. One of the child asked her. "And what about the shrine maiden. Was she happy too?" The child asked worried. I smiled and answered. "After finally finding that the dream world was real too, she started to look around there, and she finded even friends there. And liek this, they all lived happily." I smiled and ended the story. I looked too on Wolf and Lukav if they liked the story.

Lukav was the name of the werecat monk, he was a bit frightening but he has a kind, and caring attitude. Wolf was listening to the story, words by words passed through his ears and his brain played the scenario. Wolf was imagining the scene of the lovely story, but the ending part was a bit scary. Wolf's eyes immediately opened when Lukav stated that the Princess ate the knight and the elf, what a scary, but funny story. Wolf nodded to Rin's statement about the Lander. Logically, all of these are beyond human's imagination, they could never understand what makes the Lander alive. But, Wolf knew that the adventurers, the players itself mustn't disturb their lives, even if they are merely NPCs. Maybe the landers were reminders for us that we should play nicely, and obeyed the usual rules before. They should follow the Lander's, the Landers were endeavoring tp help this new world.

After a while, Rin stepped up and decided to tell her story, Wolf bet that she has another interesting story, they both were amazing storytellers. But, not Wolf. Even if he has 72 hours to think about a story, not a single paragraph passed through his mind. This time, Rin told a story about a shrine maiden who was struggling to have fun but because her duty, she must leave all fun things behind. Wolf closed his eyes, and smiled widely. He was happy after listening to both stories, Wolf noticed that both stories have meanings, Wolf approached the little kids, and told them about it, The first story by Lukav was telling that never trust anyone easily, Wolf laughed, and the second story told that even if it was a dream, you could make it real by working hard. Believe in your dreams and you will achieve something! Don't forget to help your friends, because someday they will help you in achieving your dreams. The kids were happy, and cheering "Yayy!" They ran in a circle around Lukav, Rin, and Wolf

Ooooh, they like us now? Kids sure are complicated. I scratch my back head and turn my sight to both of them “Oh, thanks for that. I am saved” I am trying to put a nice expression when I said that, so they wouldn’t be mislead by my appearance. Different than me, both adventurers in front of me are rather have good taste in clothing fashion. Now, when I look at them carefully, the girl is quite like older sister type, and the guy seems know how to talk to children. Is he ever hold one in real life, I wonder. Which give me ideas that handling these kids will be easier for us, since now there are three of us here. Ah right, I don’t even know what bring the guy here, and purposely volunteer for taking care of children may not good idea for adventurers generally. “By the way, my name is Lukav” I decided to introduce myself, hoping I will know theirs too. It would be hard to not know others name when get stuck in same quest. At least we can inform what each of us do to the children and what we hope other member will do next. But, that just based the assumption if they really have purpose to handle children here, or instead just like me, want to take a nap but bothered by kids. Ah, I may just invite them “so, want to take a nap too?” I giggle as I open my arms wide and shove the grasses besides me, making a faint shrieking noises with it. A calm breeze blown through us, swaying, flown nicely. It’s around that time when the tree’s shadow reach us. The kids still playing around, searching for something amusing. I am relaxing myself while still in guard, if there is something happened again. Well, it’s not like I have seriously interact with kids before in real life, so I just take the positive from the result and lay on the grassy land, enjoying my rest. Nyeh, at least this is what I wanted, taking nap peacefully while getting the quest done.
