AP Claims
Saber has posted up a video tutorial on how to claim AP by counting up word counts and how to post a claim thread. Watch it here or click the video below!
To claim AP for posts you've made, use this template. If you currently have a claim that hasn't been checked, please edit that claim rather than make a new one so as to keep things organized.
AP Claim threads marked WIP will not be checked until you remove the tag. To avoid clogging up the subforum, please refrain from making WIP threads if you will take more than a few days to complete your claim.
Q: How much AP do you get per word count?
A: 250 words equals 1 AP. This is counted based on the word count of the post itself, ignoring style tags and post templates.
Q: How much gold do you get per word count?
A: 10 words equals 1 gold. This is counted based on the word count of the post itself, ignoring style tags and post templates. (Only applies to posts made after April 13th, 2016.)
Q: What's the minimum word count per post? Are they cumulative?
A: Generally, we tell people to aim for 250 words since that's 1 AP. However, if you can only write 200 or so, don't worry about it. Just try not to abuse this by making 1-liner posts for the sake of obtaining gold. Anyway, when you make a claim, you add up the total word count. So if you have 1 post of 200 words and 2 posts of 400 words, that's a total of 1000 words or 4 AP.
Q: If my word count is wrong, will my AP still go through?
A: Yes, unless the word count is off by a large amount, in which case we will probably inform you to recheck your claim. If a claim has been approved and you found that the mod graded your claim incorrectly or unfairly, please feel free to contact them. In the case errors were made, the claim will be corrected and appropriate rewards will be given.
Q: What if I do a thread where I use two classes in the same post? Like a ghost-hunting thread using both Monk and Exorcist skills? What if it's just a thread that involves talking?
A: For threads with multiple class uses, you would pick and choose which class you want to apply the AP toward. If you claim AP for Exorcist in that particular example, then you cannot claim the same post for Monk AP. However, you can claim the following post for Monk AP and not Exorcist AP. It's fine if you claim AP for different classes in one thread, just make sure you don't claim the same post twice. For threads where you don't use any classes, you are allowed to claim them for whatever classes you deem fitting, but you should note the situation. Like if you're in a thread where you're watching two people battle, you're certainly going to learn a bit more about combat even if you yourself did not battle at all.
Q: What happens to any word counts that's gone over the threshold for AP?
A: Let's say that you make a claim where the total word count is 950. It's close to 4 AP, but for all intents and purposes, your claim is still going to round down to 3 AP. As such, you have a few options. One, you can decide to claim for 3 AP anyway. Two, you can hold off on the claim and make another post that will reduce the amount of leftover words. Three, you can edit an existing post of yours by adding more than 50 words (do tell your posting partners if you edited something important in though). Try to keep your claims from being extremely close to a threshold, though. GMs may use different word counters, so theirs might say your post was 995 words even though you got 1002 on yours.
Take note that there is a limit on claimable AP done through solo threads each week per character. This limit is 30 total AP weekly, resetting every Sunday at midnight EST. If you've gone over the threshold for a week, please try to split part of that claim over to the next week.
