Caligula, a veteran player who knew the game very well, finds herself trapped in the Apocalypse. The trees in the Greatwood is where she awoke a few days ago, "Hmmm, this is like a bad dream... I think." she said to herself. She examined her body, what happened so far and continued her monologue "I haven't spoken to anyone yet, but apparently if you die... You come back. I'm pretty certain this is a dream, but, if the rumors are true then what? If I don't take the risk of asking about those rumors and finding out more... No, can't let it work that way. I thought you could die in dreams, and this dream is really vivid. I can't find any evidence to actually prove this is a dream, but it seemingly has to be. Einstein said that whatever is left after the impossible must be the truth. Hmmm... Well I awoke with weapons and fighting doesn't seem hard if you skip the menus. Avoid the menus, yeah those menus, those seem beyond the scope of reality. Everyone I spy on though seems to use them however... I'm probably over-thinking. Yeah... Definitely that." Having a one-sided conversation.

"Well let's just take the current laws of the world as a reality. What I've seen so far has merit at face value so lets function on the assumption. I don't have enough time to try and logic this out. Time for direct answers..." She continued out loud as if in her head was an option that didn't exist. Then a rattle in the grass.

"WHATEVER THAT IS, SHOW YOURSELF!" Caligula yelled in instinct. It probably saw her so she assumed that going about it this way gave her the upper-hand. She was wrong. Just as the hiss began to show itself she knew what it was. He made having already identified the sounds from back in her days playing Elder Tale for fun "A hissing in the Greatwood, only one creature does that and I don't think it's smart enough to understand. Little Garden Snake show yourself." She would test her skill and if she was unlucky whether people actually came back. She grabbed the handle for her sword, the two-handed nodachi, greater in size than she was. She though finally in her head It looked cool in-game, now I feel like I look stupid... At least I wasn't the only one. Back to the battle.

Then Caligula caught a glimpse of the truth. It was definitely higher leveled than she was "I'm level one and they start at level 3... Damn not having my Assassin." She ran right towards it the second the second she could. "DON'T HISS AT ME!" as if Caligula were being looked down on. The grass felt as though it were cushioning her walk. "YA" she yelled pulling her blade out on the serpent. It took her a second and the swing she needed to make was flawed in execution. I've got to work on my draw... I didn't get hurt though. Not a lose-lose situation. As she actively tracked her situation.

The snake curled up and she examined it since it seemed to be waiting. "I'm weaker but I can win, snake, snakes, what do I know about snakes... Range is far less than that of their body normally... So it's range is definitely not anything like 6-7 feet... Jaws are strong and strikes are fast. Confusion tactics a go!" She repeated to herself. Without hesitation she shot right in and got bit "Mistake!" She yelled as if to reprimand the serpent, her blade flying through the air. She had activated her skill "KODAMAGAESHI!" with a follow-though of her blade leading into an attack, coming down on the serpents neck. She looked at the damage it took "Low defense in comparison to me, and bare fist attacks are treated as starter weapons for Non-Monk classes." further running the numbers in her head. She let go of the sword, why use a starter weapon that requires two hands when you can have two, one in each hand. Her fist came upward on its skull bouncing its head in the opposite direction of the blade attack.

She was functioning on the belief that if she died she would come back, oh how she wished that were true.

The sensation wasn't the same, this difference was a horribly timed distraction. She got bit again trying to pick up her blade and noticed she was poisoned. No, not now of all times, okay... Fighting isn't doing homework. If I let things distract me this is what happens. I have to keep the math subconscious... Let my ears and eyes and skin do the math. I have to focus... Focus on what. DAMN I don't know... I don't know what to focus on. Caligula's nerve was leaving her as she ran things in her head and yet the serpent grew closer. Then it hit her, a book she had read... Focus on nothing, the void. If she knew not what to focus on then she would focus on nothing and let her mind find it. On it's own it worked better anyways, why let stupid simple human stuff cloud her mind.

As it got closer there was a moment, she didn't even notice it. In this moment, the Garden Snake didn't exist, the feeling of the handle in her hand didn't exist, the weight of the armor on her body didn't exist, none of it, nothing at all existed, then it collapsed. She found the focus she needed as if she flew through a storm for it, a moment when it was like her, her weapon and her mind were synchronized found an answer between the three. I know... as her blade found it's way to the creature, knowing now that a 5ft blade is long enough to stay out of its reach and that a surprise attack could be punished and she would suffer little... She was armored. I, I will focus on cutting, even if my thoughts are clouded with numbers or whatever, I will simply cut, body unattached yet always guided, mind always guiding yet never in the way.

Then it was dead... It exploded into coins and EXP.
