[attr="class","ws"] [attr="class","h"]ALEX [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi"]REAL NAME: Alexander J. Richards [attr="class","bi2"]REAL GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]GENDER: Male [attr="class","bi2"]AGE: 23 [attr="class","bi2"]SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [attr="class","bi2"]FACE-CLAIM: William T. Spears, KUROSHITSUJI [attr="class","bi2"]PLAYED BY: Alex [attr="class","h2"]Appearance [attr="class","b"]Outside of the game, Alexander is kind of a scruff. He has messy black hair that comes over his ears on the sides, just over his brow in the front, but somehow manages to escape covering the nape of his neck in the back, as it is usually found to be sticking out and off to the side. Add to it the greasy texture, and it looks as though he's just risen from bed, which is more than often the case. He has captivating deep green irises that are always obscured by his half closed eyelids with dark rings around the outside due to sleep depravation, making it difficult to even see the colour of his eyes. His glasses are black-framed and rectangle shaped. He rarely goes anywhere without them, even though he can see perfectly fine without glasses. His skin has a slight olive complexion and is usually seen sporting some serious stubble, not that he could ever grow facial hair properly anyway. Whenever he tries to grow out his beard, it looks like he rubbed his chin along the floor of a hairdressers with glue slapped on one side of his face. He is rather skinny, or more unhealthy looking than your typical young adult to be precise. He also slouches whenever it is convenient. He often wears the same black zip-up hoodie his youngest little brother bought him, with whatever shirt and pair of pants he can find on the floor in the morning. He stands at around five foot, eight inches tall, which is slightly under average for someone his age, but he is usually compared to the height of someone shorter because of his constant slouching. He is never seen without socks and shoes in public, even if it is inconvenient in places such as at the beach. He even wears socks in the comfort of his own home and will often sleep with them on. When creating his avatar for Elder Tale, it took Alexander all of about five minutes to complete. Due to his lazy demeanor and sheer lack of interest when first playing the game, he made a copy of himself, only taller, lighter skinned, and cleaner cut; a more dignified version of himself, so to speak. Following that theme, his avatar wears a hooded, dark-grey jacket with four buttons that are done up on the far right side from just under the shoulder, down to the waist. The rest of the jacket continues, however, just past the knee, but is split down the middle, in the front, from the waist down. Under the jacket is a collared pure white shirt that, when relinquished of the jacket, is seen to be buttoned up to the second highest notch just below the neck, and the sleeves rolled up neatly to the elbow. He wears dark coloured pants with plain black shoes, laced up tightly, to match. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Before the Catastrophe, if Alexander could ever be bothered to talk about himself and were asked to explain his personality with one word, that word would be "bored". Alexander has for a long time, felt completely and utterly bored with the world. Nothing he does ever seems to satisfy his hunger for a challenge; a REAL challenge. Since Primary (Elementary) schooling days, he has gradually become less and less impressed by the feats of man. People around him, in his mind, have become slow and dull. The emotions of others no longer hold any place in his understanding or tolerance. His own emotions vary little, and lack in strength. From this, empathy has long since left his being, severing many of the few ties he has left within the world of human sanity. He is an incredibly intelligent young man, with few intellectual equals. However, what he excels in intellectually, he lacks in motivation and spontaneity. Though he is able to achieve virtually anything, due to his lack of motivation to do so, he is often looked down upon from various individuals who believe they could put those abilities to better use if they themselves had what he had. Many people have previously expressed their concerns openly before, but because of his empathetic incapability, he is unable to see reason behind any proposed actions, and therefore is also unable to care. This lack of communication between him and his peers is often mistaken for intentional distancing, but however, he is simply misunderstood. One of the few things he can enjoy anymore is playing games that offer entirely new worlds to keep his mind occupied, away from the world that currently bores him so. On the day of the Catastrophe, merely moments after the completion of his avatar, realising what had happened, Alex's motivation came rushing back like a herd of cattle to a fresh green paddock. His very being called into action as his outward presence was lifted to long forgotten heights. Long had he waited for such a challenge to come forward. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Alexander grew up predominantly in rural areas. For reasons still unknown to him to this day, his parents were always moving from place to place, dragging along him and his two younger brothers, who were eerily similar to him, around with them. The age difference between them was two and a half years between each, so they were always fairly close. Their parents were dairy farmers for most of their lives. Due to the constant moving around, entering new schools and making friends was always difficult for them. However, they always knew it would be difficult as they were rather underwhelmed by children their age, and would tend to distance themselves whenever possible; this would be a trend for many years to come and is a very real issue for them in present day. Having been tutored by their grandmother from a very young age over most holiday breaks when their parents were moving, they were already years above their grade by the time they started attending Primary (Elementary). It was a dull affair for them, to say the least, after much anticipation previous to enrollment. They would often skip school on days they didn't deem necessary to attend, to work the farm and help with calving and milking seasons. They would often have to put down new born calves who were too sickly and frail to join the rest of the herd. The technique was simple, bash the heads of the young calves with a blunt object until consciousness was swept away; two quick and heavy handed strikes would usually do the trick. Because the process was quick and relatively painless, and they had been taught how to do it since they could walk, it was never an issue for them. In fact, it wasn't made clear to them of it's disgust within society until quite some time later in their lives. For them, it was just "normal" and would later be the cause of both their lack of understanding of the outside world, and lack of remorse for it. High School went by in a flash as they all gained University Entry two years before graduation. Alexander, being the first of them to attend University was again underwhelmed by its influence over him. Even studying a double degree in Commerce and Science with three majors in Economics, Finance, and Chemistry, he still developed a sense of sanity-bending boredom. Topping his classes five and a half years in a row, becoming somewhat of a professional student, he decided to quit University, four papers (one semester) before graduation. His father, many years after ending his farming career, and now the CEO of one of the largest Agribusiness orginisations in the country, as well as the chairman and spokesperson on various trusts and boards around the agricultural sector, soon learns of Alexander's withdrawal from his studies, urging him to reconsider. He even goes as far to secure enrollment for Alexander to attend one of the most renowned Universities in the world for his post-grad studies, only to be rejected. He and his brothers, never really got along with their parents. Alexander is now of a state of mind where he could care less for the mundane life of an overachiever, and the possible, and equally mundane, futures available to him. His brothers, being of the same frame of mind, decide to join him in isolation doing the only thing that provides them with any entertainment anymore. Each playing their own games in the privacy of their own rooms, Alexander would discover a game nearly as old as he is, though he had never given in to the hype. On a whim, he creates a profile, and being as unmotivated as he is in his current state, cannot even be bothered to imagine a name for his character, assigning the name "Alex" to the new avatar. This would also happen to be the day of what was soon to become known as the Catastrophe.
