There were a lot of different opinions within the adventurer's population, opinions about their situation surrounding their emergence into this new world. Some were terrified and wanted to go home, others had accepted their new lives, and some were even like herself, people who basked in the excitement of a world like this. In Elder Tale those with strength often were respected or feared, and in that sense warriors like herself often found themselves more at home than within reality. In this world she wouldn't be accused of being a troublemaker when trying to deal with bullies, instead she would likely be praised as a hero. However, most heroes tended to have a humble beginning, and she was no exception. Casually wandering through the streets of Londinium the samurai's eyes drifted toward that dreadful 'Level 1' sign. She wasn't exactly pleased to see herself have such a lowly level, but it couldn't be helped. She didn't exactly put in any effort to train yet, but that was about to change soon. The sound of footsteps approached her and soon a middle-aged man stopped right before her, his lips formed into a friendly smile.
"An adventure! What a great timing, would you happen to be available to help me out with a little problem?"
Aquila's eyes drifted toward the stranger, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. She had heard about this type of situations before. People of the land, or 'Landers' were once considered simple inhabitants of this world, none-player characters who used to provide quests or provide dialogue to help immerse the player into the world. However, for some reason their artificial intelligence had seemingly changed, as if they had become self-aware for some reason. Of course such thoughts were a bit beyond Aquila's thinking, to her they were just characters who liked to randomly approach her to provide a quest or random chatter, and it seemed this time it would be the former.
"I guess I do got some time to spare, well at least depending on what your request is."
The man clapped his hands together, seemingly happy with the fact an adventurer had just accepted his request for help. She had to admit she was a bit curious about the type of task a Lander might ask from her, and part of her hoped it would become something exciting. Perhaps fighting some giant dragon, or exploring a dungeon. Of course she was aware that such a thing would never happen at her level. It was just like she had expected, for her hopes were brutally crushed the moment the man spoke.
"I'm a chef, and quite a decent one at that also! Unfortunately I have ran out of materials and I need someone to fend me some meat. Meat from Frenmic Rabbits and Pittered Boars."
So it was a simple 'Fetch this item from me from the surrounding area' quest? That seemed a lot less exciting than she had hoped for. Of course there was usually a reward involved for those who took a quest, so there would most certainly be one available for her also, right?
"I do like a good old hunting trip, but they say that only the sun comes out for free."
The chef nodded, a grin still lingering on his lips at the girl's declaration. It was quite normal for an Adventurer to demand compensation for the time they spend on a request, even he himself knew that much.
"How about some delicious Rabbit Stew, and 50 gold pieces?"
That certainly was a little bit stingy. Sure, she might had been a starting adventurer but 50 gold pieces was close to nothing, but her stomach did like the idea of being filled with some Rabbit Stew. She didn't have the opportunity to eat yet since she came into this world, so a free meal certainly wouldn't hurt.
"Fine, I take your request. How much meat ya need?"
The man seemed to consider her question for a moment before he raised a hand, all his fingers spread outwards. So it was five huh? That wasn't a bad amount. She'd most certainly be able to hunt that much in an hour or two, even if her luck would end up unfavorable with the drops.
"Five... crates"
And now the girl could feel her smile wavering for a moment. Five crates?! That would take a whole freaking day of hunting none stop if she wanted to get that much, and then she had to have a favorable drop rate. Fifty gold pieces for such a long quest was way too cheap, even if she got some free Rabbit Stew. The man seemed to notice her thoughts because he bowed lightly in apologize.
"I'm extremely sorry to impose this request upon you, but the wardens and hunters have been too occupied dealing with a lot of problems recently that few are able to go hunting, and at this rate the village will get out of its supplies, and then we'll starve!"
A loud sigh escaped Aquila's lips. Just great, so she was pretty much going to take over the job of those hunters because they were too busy with other stuff?
"Fine, since we share this world I guess we're kind of like neighbors right? Ya could say that if I scratch your back, your scratch mine. I'll help out, but it will take a while to get such a large supply of meat."
The Lander nodded in acknowledgement of her words, his smile returning while he spoke in a gentle tone.
"There is no need for concern there. The village has enough food supplies left to last another week. So as long as those crates over here are filled by then, I don't mind waiting for your return."
That seemed a little bit more doable. With her decision made to help the man, Aquila turned her back at him and started walking toward the outskirts of the city. It was rather fortunate there were a lot of low level hunting grounds near the city, so it could serve both as training and as a means to get the meat she needed for her quest!
