It was a brand new day, and Capsule was ecstatic. She had recently purchased two "new" houses, both of which were in Sarum. One was located high up in the mountains, were a bit of snow nestled, and the other was located beside a river, down on the open plains. Capsule was currently at the latter, her eyes lit up with delight, and a hand clenched around a key to the place.
Earlier that week, she had decided to go and investigate some of the real estate options. As much as Capsule liked living in the guild house, the castle was much too large for one person to stay in by themselves. Sure, she saw her guild mates once in a blue moon, but it was lonely. She also wanted a place all too herself, where she could do whatever she wished without anyone coming in and telling her to cut it out. It was pretty much like the time she moved out of her parent's house, and into an even smaller apartment (technically a studio apartment).
She had consulted with a few Landers before settling on the Sarum houses. The one in the mountains was obviously selected for those times when she required some alone time, but the one near the river was for her fish friends and other necessities. It also made collecting herbs and the like fairly more convenient. She did not expect a mountain to contain all of the necessary plant like, though there was the garden option.
Capsule had most of her rooms sorted out - libraries for both homes, an apothecary and post office for the riverside housing, and a pond for the mountainous one. She was considering turning the third room in her mountain home into a meditation room. It made sense, given that the house up there was supposed to be her fortress of solitude. It… sounded pretty damn peaceful, actually.
The more she thought about it, the more she liked it. She could even allow Dobby, her Golem Sentinel, to roam about to guard the place for her… probably not up on the mountain, though. It was isolated enough to not worry about the troubles of so called intruders. It might even be better for him to stay in the riverside housing. He would have Aranea and her Frenmic Rabbits, Fiver and Virthuril, to keep him company. The two rabbits had already scratched out quite the warren, but they were excited for all of the fresh air and open space they would be getting. Virthuril was especially happy with the arrangement, though she had more than once mentioned her desire to romp around in the Savill Flower Grove.
The rabbits were hopping about outside with her, too busy investigating the yard to notice how Capsule's mood had shifted from excited to despondent. The small cabin was not as orderly as the realtor had claimed. That was not to say that it was utterly beyond repair or anything, but there was an abundance of weeds covering the yard, and vines creeping all over the house itself. The size of the house overall did not bother her; housing in this world was weird. A house that was small on the outside could be quite roomy on the inside, which was just the bees knees.
Cleaning up the place would not be too bad, but she was frankly disappointed that the real estate agent had showed her an old picture of the house, and then neglected to tell her how bad in shape it was. Freaking Landers. They were as bad as actual people. Just looking at the exterior of the building, Capsule could tell that the inside would need a bit of tidying up, too - maybe. The moss and vines that were tangled up on the front door said a lot about how frequently it had been entered during its vacancy. That is to say, it had not been visited at all.
Still grumbling about no good dirty Landers, Capsule sighed and stuffed the key into her pocket. There was much to be done before she could even think about entering the building, sadly. She took out her kukri, Volkova, and waved it by her side as she made her way over the clump of weeds littering her yard. Dobby was thus summoned a moment later, and the golem looked to and fro, seemingly in delight. "Dobby, I am going to need you to do what you can to spruce the yard up, all right? By that, I mean pulling up weeds and squashing mole holes, understand?" The golem nodded his head and gave a small bow. "As for Fiver and Virthuril, you two can dig up the smaller weeds or eat whatever you want. I'm going to try to… do something about these vines."
While the golems and the rabbits each jumped into their assigned tasks, Capsule hooked the tip of her blade under one big chunk of moss and vines hanging over the door. It was a bit tougher than she imagined, and required a strong flick over her wrist to discharge. Once she pulled it off, though (literally), the rest was much easier to deal with. Some of it fell on her head when she yanked on it with her free hand, which was so not fun. Bits and pieces of moss and vine leaves were making a mess of her hair. Even Chibi Maya Chan noticed, despite her prolonged napping that had gone on for almost a month or so.
The little flower bud could be heard softly whispering in Capsule's ear, but nothing that was coherent. The little tentacles the flower bud used to hold onto Cap's hair was tickling her scalp more than usual. Capsule giggled softly as she pulled more and more vines off of the doorway. It was probably silly to think, but this was kind of fun. It was also good on her nerves, as she was now finally able to actually open the door. She inserted the key into the doorknob, which she was pretty sure served more as an aesthetic than an actual catalyst. There were better ways and means to amp up security through the system interface.
Without further ado, Capsule stepped into her new home.
