ASHEN HP: 100% MP: 100% | "I am in the only place that I want to be, though we know that it ends eventually, but it's all right 'cause right now, we're frozen" |
Ashen rolled her neck and sighed. There had been plenty of expectations for the Novasphere Pioneer expansion, but taking a moment and putting aside that the game was now reality, the Fox-Tail couldn't admit that it was living up to its hype. Some of the reasons were obvious, like being trapped inside the world of Elder Tale, but some of them were probably ones many people wouldn't think of. Maybe it was Alex just being bored or having no direction, but this situation of being trapped in the game was easily the most exciting thing that had probably happened to him.
The Fox-Tail wondered if they were alone in thinking that particular thought. But back to the matter at hand. No, the game was a lot lower than the expectations, but it had to be played significantly differently as well. For starters, there didn't seem to be any quests to make the leveling process like it was previous to the expansion. Was that somehow related to the reason they were traped in the game? Might be. Again, Ashen didn't feel like devoting too much brain power to the endless twists of logic like that. They'd much rather be out doing anything, even if it was something like grinding levels from slaying monsters than sitting around in town trying to puzzle out why exactly they were here.
At least combat was now a lot more exciting than it had been previously. Obviously with the game taking place of reality, it was a lot more visceral. His previous character on the American server had been a Fox-Tail Shaman. Being stuck in the body of Ashen (even if that brought about a whole host of problems of its own) was way more entertaining than basically watching a bunch of bars amongst the party's status and making sure that buffs were kept up and maintained. There was actually adrenaline now and Ashen turned their palm up, flexing their fingers a few times before closing them tightly into a fist.
The obvious changes to what was comfortable and familiar - at least from a gameplay standpoint - only made Ashen want to level up faster to get to the raiding content. After all that's what he'd been doing mostly in the game when his friend Anna had moved to pursue college overseas. It didn't look like she'd made it into the game though. At least a couple of days trying to figure out around town and asking for anyone using her common character name pulled up nothing. Maybe Ashen would try again soon. People seemed to be a lot more level-headed than they had been sorting out the first few days in Elder Tale.
Ashen once more flexed her fingers, before dropping her hand casually to her side. She'd come out here to kill some mobs, not philosophize on the current predicament. Using her free right hand, Ashen casually scrolled through menus, pulling up her subclass skills. With a single press of a button, Battle Perception was activated. Being able to identify and name mobs and their levels were only so useful to Ashen right now. It basically gave her a heads up of how difficult the fight ahead might be, but outside of the name it didn't really give her any information that was usable. Sure it gave the level as well, but a creature could be a few levels higher in effect due to debilitating status effects or mobbing when one of them got aggro'd. Even so, the simple raccoons and slimes that Ashen had fought this far weren't all that exciting, and they still didn't know what else to expect in the beginner areas.
The samurai looked up across an open field, filled with wild growth and unruly grass. Some of the paintings around the buildings had depicted this as a large garden, but obviously right now it was ever so slightly unattended. Seemed like a good place to find some things to bring down for the sake of gaining more combat experience. Speaking of, there seemed to be something coming close. Ashen couldn't get a very clear view, but the health bar was there. Pathfinder was already coming in handy. "A Frenmic Rabbit, huh? Level 2 by the looks of things. Not that big, I wonder if there's more..."
