Scoria's eyes flickered quietly to life as he stepped into the abbey, tuning out the noise of a small cart of alchemy tools in a borrowed wheelbarrow as it clattered and settled into a safe place. He had somehow gotten permission to do a little research on the altar, the source of all Adventurer's revivals. It was a generally open space, certainly, as he doubted Aeryn was the type of guild to prevent the revival of other adventurers and so on, but that they so graciously allowed him to do some research on the structure was something he was fairly grateful for. Not that that meant he'd brook any argument from idiots who didn't quite get what he was doing or wanted to ask stupid questions. He had a clear goal in mind and had clearly stated it when he made his inquiry for Aeryn's approval. Scoria was searching for a pure, natural source of Anima. This was something that was an inherent part of nature, but equally, it was hard to find any one source or location of anima itself. After all, it was present in all that was alive and even dead, and separating it from the other elements or Miasma or Mana was a hard task indeed. The only place Scoria could think of that had a natural source of anima (or rather, recollected it and provided Adventurers with the lifeblood they had lost) was here, where they revived. So here he was. It seemed like other people might have wanted to investigate as well, and he was more than happy to let them do whatever as he researched. Equally, he wanted to calmly and thoroughly investigate this almost natural source of Anima. Strange though it might be, he wanted and almost needed to find a pure source of anima in this world. But still, he had arrived at the appointed time and figured it good manners to wait for whoever else wanted to show up to... well, show up. Taking a quick precaution, the Druid set his main level down to one. Nosy people could suck it. Tags Here

In the last encounter he had with a guildmate, there may have been a memo regarding a person requesting time to use the church for some study. Normally he would just let whoever asked permission do whatever they were supposed to do and just stay out of the way. But the reason why the person was using the place caught Reynard’s attention: studying Anima. Being a user of Anima, mostly for healing spells, the cleric was curious as well how this source of energy functioned. Not that he was looking for philosophical answers. He was mostly concerned how he could use Anima technologically.
Blame it on his Mechanic/Engineering background but Reynard saw the possible potentials of a renewal, and if his theories were true, flexible source of energy. With that in mind, Reynard hoped that the person running some test wouldn’t mind him tagging along. After leaving unnecessary gear, the foxtail headed towards the alter of the cathedral since that was where the person was supposed to be running his test.
To his surprise, Reynard did vaguely recognize the person waiting in the lobby. They had partied briefly during the early days of the underground but didn’t really part on friendlier terms. He was still sporting the level 1, which Reynard had no idea why he chose to do that. Still, the foxtail hoped to still be able to join in on the research so he would have to play nice, again.
Reynard moved out the person’s field of vision as to not alert him immediately of his arrival. Once he felt he was close enough, Reynard leaned back on one of the pillars taking a relaxed stance to great the Guild’s guest.
“It is a surprise to see you again. I would not have guessed you would be the one interested in studying Anima.”

LaviniaLevel 31: Enchanter Level 22: Pharmacist Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Studying Anima? Why would someone want to do something like that when studying potions and herbs is where it's really at? Anyway, that's what Lavinia was doing gathering herbs, was because now she was on her way to her room at the guild house. Unfortunately her own home where she would rather go with a bag full of ingredients is to far to walk at this time of day. Lavinia would have to make a note to buy a horse whistle or better yet invite a potion of flight. "Hmmm.. A flight potion... How would that work?" the enchantress thought to herself as she walked into the Abby, rather lost in her own thoughts of research and feathered flight.
Day dreaming of flight as she walks, not unlike a teenager with their eyes glued to a mobile phone text messaging people. Lavinia thinks about winged flight or the kind of flight used by monks who are obsessed with collecting orange stared balls constantly. The latter method would be easier but there was something about wings that made the first so much more appealing. It was during this thought progress that Lavinia failed to notice the wagon full of equipment in her way or was she in it's way? These things are difficult to say, but because of her failing of observation and perception she ran into it. Not all that hard really, enough to startle her and make the equipment inside rattle around a bit. After overcoming being startled Lavinia looks down at the wagon full of equipment and wonders what it all is for, to her they could be remote controls for orbital weapon platforms for all she knew, they were probably just research equipment though. If this was research equipment where was the researcher, assuming it had one. Maybe wagons full of research equipment are autonomous now? Let's hope not. Assuming they weren't autonomous Lavinia looked around the room for someone who might own it. She finds a hard ass wanna be looking man and a red head like herself, both appear to be in their early twenties.
The young red head enchantress was wearing her usual white outfit with her bag around her neck, with the hood down of course. She had her staff stored away in her inventory, there was no reason to carry it in town anyway. Lavinia wondered if she should apologize, if she broke something she would of course pay to replace it. "I should apologize." she concludes taking a nervous breath Lavinia looks back and forth at the two men and speaks "Ugh, I'm sorry." softly to the pair unsure which to apologize to, maybe both since they both could be researching something? Oh, it was Reynard. Acting very pretentious. Okay. Scoria glanced over at him and raised his eyebrow, the permanent glare on his face burning tiny little holes in everything it fell upon. Unlike Reynard, Scoria didn't seem to want to play nice, nor did he particularly have to. Cooperation or 'not getting in someone's way' was not the same as playing nice, and Scoria was content to avoid the latter. Still, a reply was required. "K." A professional response if there ever was one. He glanced over at the entrance again, waiting patiently to see if anyone else wanted to show up and do any research. What arrived next was a klutz. The girl bumped straight into Scoria's wheelbarrow, causing his little devices to clatter and clink as they shifted about. Good thing they were relatively sturdy. Scoria walked up to the Enchantress and glared down at her as well, the 9 inches of height difference making a bit of an impact. "K." Great response. A+. The Druid moved into his wheelbarrow for a cursory check on the materials inside and gave a slight shrug on confirmation that nothing was unusable or broken. The "hard ass wannabe" turned his glare back to Lavinia, sizing her up slowly. She didn't look like she was here to research, but appearances were deceiving. After all, Reynard was here. "Are you here to research?" With that, Scoria shuffled back to staring at the door and waiting for anyone else who wanted to come through the door or declare they wanted in on this research thing. "I'm going to get to work. If you want to talk, feel free." Scoria's glare directed his words at both Lavinia and Reynard as he walked towards the altar, frowning sharply and trying to figure out the best way to approach the situation. People were hard to deal with and research was sometimes slow (and sometimes fast) with company.

Yep, Scoria was just how Reynard remembered him to be: perpetual scowl and glare that could kill a boss monster. His shorter than usual responses were new though. He didn’t think Scoria could say any less than before but apparently he could. Reynard wondered if Scoria put a lot of effort to being anti-social. His thoughts were interrupted by a rattling sound from the equipment.
Someone had managed to bump into the wagon causing the equipment to rattle a bit. That someone being a female human looking a bit sheepish at hitting the equipment. Her apology had a trace of nervousness as she no doubt expected some sort of scolding for hit some important looking equipment. Reynard didn’t care as it wasn’t his stuff and Scoria didn’t think anything was damaged beyond repair and just shrugged. It looked like the newcomer was safe from any retribution.
Scoria beat Reynard to inquiring if she was here for research but added his own clarification in case she forgot.
“He means for the Anima research.”
It looked like Scoria didn’t really care (surprise surprise) and proceeded to get to work.
“I am Reynard by the way.” Reynard pointed his thumb at the male human in the room. “Scoria. And you?”

LaviniaLevel 31: Enchanter Level 22: Pharmacist Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Lavinia looked up from the cart of equipment as the person who Lavinia thought it belonged to walked over to her. His height and constant glare was intimidating to the little enchantress, she for sure thought he was gonna start yelling. But all he said after inspecting his equipment was "K" "K... That's it? Did he hit his head when he was young or something?" she thought as she breathes a sigh of relief as he shrugs and walks away. Of course that is probably not the reason, maybe he's just anti social or a man of few words with a attitude or all the above? Lavinia couldn't spare the brain power to deduce such a thing right now though. She was to busy working out her new potion idea and what these two were doing here. Judging from the cart, at least the big guy was an alchemist, an evaluate would solve that unknown but Lavinia was feeling kind of lazy today.
The fox tail explained like he knew what was going on Anima research. A mediocre topic to most, a interesting topic to alchemists or people such as Lavinia. "What kind of research about Anima would require being in the cathedral." she wondered as the fox tail who called himself Reynard who we will refer to as Rey and the other wannabe as Scoria, who will be referred to as wannabe introduced them. They knew each other and Lavinia had a hunch that they did, though Lavinia couldn't understand why someone would wanna know a wannabe like this guy though. Rey introduced them and then asked for one in return, Lavinia would oblige of course. "My name is Lavinia." she says smiling at Rey, he was cute, Lavinia would have understood why her friend had a crush on him so long ago, not that she actually knew it was him though. "No, I'm not I was just taking a shortcut to my room. But now I'm curious. What do you hope to discover?" she says but her tone has changed, before it was one of an average every day girl, kinds nervous and then generally happy. But this time when Lavinia spoke she should give the feeling like their answer wouldn't be wasted on her, that she may be able to help. Lavinia wondered what the pair would do with whatever they were after. Maybe they were trying to make revival jamming devices, or maybe a way to speed up the process. It was probably something else entirely, most likely was. Lavinia then wondered if they'd mind hearing about her ideas for alchemical items. New inventions that if possible would be incredibly helpful, but that would have to come later or probably much later after/if a friendship is formed. better late than never right? OTL Scoria grunted. Reynard was making introductions, which was annoying and unnecessary and stopped Scoria from lying about his name, but oh well. What really annoyed Scoria was the clarification Reynard made about the nature of the research. He had intentionally omitted that part, but here was Reynard, being an upstanding citizen and making Scoria's life difficult. Nevermind that Scoria had left it open as an invite, now Reynard had made it sound like a 'cool kids only' club. Good thing neither Scoria nor Reynard were cool. Scoria was ice cold, perhaps, but certainly not cool. It was probably a good thing Scoria had no idea the kind of sass Lavinia was bringing about in her own thoughts or he would have z-formation snapped at her. 'Wannabe my rear end, I'm the real deal.' Or something like that. Oh right Aeryn members. This guild sure was prolific. Seems Lavinia lived here too, which was great for her, he supposed. Her sudden serious change in tone kinda put Scoria off as he wandered further towards the altar and began setting up some instruments in order to try and figure out where the exact source of the anima recollection was. She was asking though, so... "The location of the most pure natural source of anima." Scoria fished through his pockets and pulled out a sphere that seemed to be filled with water, an alchemic construct he had created after swimming to an island off the coast of the beach. Although he strongly doubted he'd be able to make something from anima like the water sphere, he wanted to at least find a pure source. With that, he'd be able to make consumables and so on without theoretically using up the existing resource. Research would be a waste if it resulted in the destruction of a revival point. That and he'd be branded a heretic and probably be the first to be murdered. "This is from a location with a highly pure concentration of the water element. Anima is not the same as psyche, mana, miasma, or the 8 elements. The difficulty in research increases." Pocketing the sphere once more, Scoria continued to set up his equipment and continued to walk around, as if making an inspection. "Dunno what Reynard wants. Or you."

OOC: Don't worry. Late as well.... It seemed that Lavinia was part of the guild. Reynard really had to memorize the list of members if he was planning to survive in this guild. He’ld be able to tell was under the @dindeen’s, the Killer Bunny, thrall and determine who to watch out for in case of an ambush. Her attention was currently on Scoria’s research so Reynard was safe, for now. Speaking of Scoria…
This was definitely the most he had ever heard from Scoria that didn’t consist of battle shouts or the occasional grunt. Then again, they weren’t really in a conversational setting last time. He was curious about the cathedral being the most pure source of anima. It did make a bit of sense to use the cathedral as it was the safest place he could journey and still run some trials. Worst thing he could do was blow something up, die, and just revived again. Might even help him understand more about Anima if he did die. If he blew up the cathedral though… a new place of residency would be the last thing Reynard would have to worry about.
Scoria was still setting up his equipment around the altar. Those things might surprise the next person who revived inside the cathedral. It would be like reviving in a mad scientist’s layer in a horror movie.
“I use anima in my own way.” Which Reynard demonstrated by summoning an Anima Sphere in his hand. “So far I can only do one and it only manifests as healing anima. I am curious to see how anima can be used as a power source.”
Which is why Reynard was lucky that Scoria had brought some instruments which could detect anima. Detecting meant interaction with anima and that same interaction could be converted to a controlled effect. Even seeing how Anima would move a small amount of material would help Reynard’s own research. Ignoring the possibility of annoying the druid, Reynard approached one of the machines and knelt down to examine it.
“How do this things react to anima?”

[attr="class","pictureA"] LaviniaLevel 31: Enchanter Level 22: Pharmacist Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Lavinia remained quiet as she looked at the alter in the center of the room where the dead adventures respawn. She began to day dream about flying on large Snow White wings through the clouds. The wind blowing through her hair as she looked over the roof of the cloud cover. The view was something like what was seen in a old movie about a little sentient green thing of jello or at least it looked like jello. This little thing of green jello when an electric current was applied could simulate anti gravity, or something similar. So they created a hover car with and that's how this view was created. It was a beautiful view, but the potion needed was still a long way off, Lavinia doubted even Capsule, the best pharm around couldn't make it yet.
Some how the wannabe and Reyn's words soaked into her brain and it got her thinking. If Anima is an energy source, it must flow like every other type of energy, right? That would explain what happens when all is the stuff is drained from an area and then the slow rebound of the area. So then that would also imply that these flowing currents meet up and cross each other to keep the whole planets Anima in balance. So the Anima flow from adventures couldn't possibly be the largest concentration when compared to the whole planets Anima reserve. That brings up another point, of tapping into this pure super source of Anima is achieved, what happens to what is used? Does it replenish itself, or does it slowly kill the planet? All questions to annoy the wannabe with, all in good time.
"So then this where the Anima flow meets up or something? I guess it would have to be..." Lavinia was making a pretty big assumption here she had read a book awhile back about such flows. Most of it didn't make sense, but a few things did stick, like the stuff mentioned above, but more on that later. Made by Sileas; with help from Neun, Kyou, Saber, Saki, and Oxford.
