Thanksgiving Contest!

It appears that former Adventurers of the North American server are especially festive around this time of year as they introduce the Thanksgiving spirit to the Unfounded Kingdom. Surprisingly, Lander and European tradition has been well acquainted with a similar phenomenon that they call the Harvest Festival. Many other nationalities have been rather confused as a result, but hey, it's a festival about food. 

1) Art Contest: An Elder Tale Feast - In the spirit of Thanksgiving, draw us your most fantastic banquets. Depict some characters enjoying tons of good food and celebrating their time together in Elder Tale. To uphold the spirit of Thanksgiving, we ask that you have at least 1 RP character that isn't yours in the shot (although it would be a less lonely party if you had more people, try asking your guild maybe). Any medium of art is accepted.

2) Cooking Contest: An Earth Feast - Show off your real life Thanksgiving feasts and take photos of how you're celebrating the season. Bonus points if you dress up like an RP character (and weird out your family in the process) attending the party. Those of you not celebrating Thanksgiving may also enter by cooking up something appropriate for the season through step-by-step pictures. Or do both! Winners will find their cuisine immortalized in the Crafting List and will receive an ample amount of leftovers.

3) Eidolon Design Contest - A little more work will be needed to complete the Animist class, specifically the "animal spirits" or as we have called them, "Eidolon." Please use the second template in the NPC Character Template and then PM your applications to Data Holder. The Eidolon Design Contest is special in that all valid entries will be rewarded and that you may submit multiple entries. Particularly well-made Eidolon may be used in shaping the lore of the Animist class's skills. Note that this is, in all intents, an NPC designing contest. Please know that if you should submit an Eidolon, they will be available as interactable characters. If you have a character that you would prefer to make as a playable Animist instead, we recommend that you hold off on that entry for now.

Due to the fact that only one entry for both Art and Cooking were submitted, they have won by default. Rewards will be doled out shortly. Please enjoy the creative entries we received!

Cheesy Salmon

Ingredients:

salmon, sliced
whole fresh lemon
cheese, grated
cream
tarragon
salt
black pepper, ground
cooking oil



Step 1: Remove the skin from the slice of salmon.



Step 2a: Squeeze lemon juice from a fresh lemon onto salmon.



Step 2b: Rub mixture of salt, black pepper and dried tarragon onto salmon. Leave to stand for 10 minutes.



Step 3: Heat cooking oil in a pan and put salmon in it.



Step 4: Fry salmon until partially brown.



Step 5: Put salmon in baking pan. Coat with cream.



Step 6: Sprinkle grated cheese on salmon; adding more tarragon is optional.



Step 7: Bake in oven under low heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cheese becomes a crispy coating.



Step 8: Take salmon out of oven and marvel at your creation.

His distinctive features are his bright pink skin, pig snout, and long, rabbit-like ears that protrude from the top of his head. The rest of his body is more human than pig, however, such as the fact he has hands instead of hooves, though his hind hooves have not been replaced, making it difficult for him to walk. Though you wouldn't be able to discern whether his eyes were human or pig, one thing you can say about them is that they are rather large in size compared to his head, the pure black pupils being comparatively tiny, making the vast majority of his eyes pure white. He is rather short for an animal spirit, standing at only 4'2'', but his short stature is made up for by his large pot-belly. Finally, his pig persona is finished off with his squiggly spiral tail that protrudes off his tail bone.  Pigglesworth is a rather skittish individual, matching well with his pig-like appearance, which means that he does not get into combat or any kind of fight unless he has to. He has no noticeable scars or tattoos, and nothing to show for any injuries, but he does have a distinct birthmark, a patch that goes over his right eye that, at first glance, might look more like a splash of mud that he had forgotten to clean off. Being a pig, Pigglesworth prefers not to worry about his clothing, causing his attire to usually look dirty and unkempt. He cares little for what others think of his appearance, and this shows not only in his clothes but in his posture as well, slouching most of the time and usually preferring to sit down rather than stand, attesting to his lazy attitude to any situation, unless it means his life is on the line. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"]Most people would define Pigglesworth as an introvert, due to his inability to socialise and his lack of ability to make friends. However, this all comes down to his overall lazy personality. Pigglesworth lives by one motto alone, and that is: "If it doesn't kill me, it can sod off." In those exact words. The only time Pigglesworth will rush to do something is if not doing will result in his own physical harm, and this mindset is what he brings to every situation, no matter the consequences. Pigglesworth lacks a definitive instinct or intuition, simply relying on what he sees. His senses are what he uses more than anything, most particularly his excellent nose. His pig-like persona allows him to sniff out almost anything, though this is contrasted by the fact he can have trouble hearing at times, his big ears being "good for nothin'," as he would say. Being more of a lounger and a couch potato, Pigglesworth usually doesn't bother with thinking at all, and focuses more on feeling. That isn't to say he cherishes the emotions and feelings of others, he doesn't even bother with them. Being rather selfish, Pigglesworth will only ever look at a situation from his own perspective, with his own emotions, and act accordingly, usually by just sitting down and not doing anything. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"]Pigglesworth Snortimer is one of the more recent editions to the Eidolon family, having only been created from the moment of the Apocalypse, unlike his more ancient counterparts from the First World Fraction. As a newborn animal spirit, Pigglesworth is rather useless in combat due to his lack of experience. Combine this with his lazy attitude and his selfish behaviour, and you have an Eidolon not many Animists are fond of calling upon. However being an Eidolon, he does have at least some backbone, and can be rather productive in a fight if given the right amount of discipline. As long as he fears the Animist more than the monsters, he'll do as he's told. Ever since being created by the Third World Fraction, Pigglesworth has spent his days... well... rather boringly from another's perspective. He has been happily enjoying the lazy life, occasionally venturing out and getting chased around by rabid monsters that want to do him any sort of harm. Pigglesworth, interestingly, has a particular loathing for Animists, as they specifically go out of their way to pull him away from his relaxing day to fight things much much bigger than him. And, unfortunately, given that he doesn't care what others think, he makes sure to let any Animist know how much he despises him at that moment. Pigglesworth is not one of the popular or well-liked Eidolon's and that's just how he likes it. As such, this causes her to be perceived as kind, yet fierce. She is often seen roaming the landscapes of Moon Dance Forest, whether inside the village or in the land all around it. She walks with slow, proud motions, and quite often maintains her composure. When she runs, she is fast as the wind, the trail of multi-colored fires will be behind her. Her eyes are squinted, but shine a bright yellow color. When in the presence of those that she deems acceptable and kind, she will often sit on her hind legs, and slowly move her tail back and forth. In the presence of those she dislikes, she will still sit, but her tail will not move, and her muscles will be somewhat visibly tense, so as to not show her discontent with some. To those she hates or deems a threat, she will enter a crouched position, ready to strike should the situation call for it. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Amaterasu is usually very well behaved, in that she will keep her composure in most situations. Quite often, she comes off as calm, timid, relaxed, and even willing to help. She shows no pride in herself, aside from the way she walks. Amaterasu is a stoic, in the sense that any compliments she receives are denied, and instead turned to the one she is working or talking with. Amaterasu is bound by honor, so whenever she makes a promise, she will keep her word, and see it through to the end. Despite this, though, should she fail a task, she will not let it stay on her mind for too long. "Such is life," is her usual mentality. When in the face of an enemy, Amaterasu will attempt to keep as calm as she can. But after a certain point, she will either walk away from the opponent or attack them, if they attacked her. She will never instigate a fight, unless the other in question attacks first, or attacks an ally or friend of her's. Her way of honor will have her fight until either her friends and family are safe, or until the enemy is down and cannot act. Even at the cost of her own life. This is the promise she has made. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Amaterasu has died once already. She was struck down by a group of foul Amaterasu monsters, that were tainted with darkness in the realm. This happened moments before an Adventurer whom she had befriended arrived on the scene, to fight and protect her. Sadly enough, though, this Adventurer didn't arrive in time. Her eyes closed, and her body disappeared into the sky once more, to regain her place in the sky in the Sun. However, what befell her next puzzled her greatly. When she awoke, she had found her body intact, and inside a shrine of some sort. Getting up was difficult for her, as her body ached, and that's when an elderly voice rang out from the corridor nearby her. "Be careful, there, young Sun Goddess." It said. "Your body has yet to heal fully." Confused and perplexed, Amaterasu looked at the woman whom had just spoken, and noticed how she was blind. But, she could tell a kindred spirit when she saw one. She lay on her side once again, letting the elderly spirit heal her further. Later that day, she was released from the shrine where she was kept, with a new mission in her heart. The Great Sakura Spirit had given her her life back, so now she was to protect as many lives as she could. Amaterasu made her way through the village, noticing how the villagers and Adventurers conversed and dealt business cheerfully and calmly. This brought a warmth to her that she hadn't felt before. Her job before was to watch the Myobu and Nogitsune, but a greater cause has since entered her. She made a promise to herself to aid the Adventurers, People of the Land, and her kindred spirits who seek peace, in whatever way she can. Thus, the class known as Animist came into her knowledge. Amaterasu is willing to lend her power, through body or spirit, to aid this class, and all their endeavors, for the greater good. [attr="class","h3"]statistics and inventory [attr="class","b"] [attr="class","fc"] [attr="class","bi6"]RACE: Eidolon [attr="class","bi6"]CLASS LEVEL: 90 [attr="class","h3"]Extra [attr="class","b"] - Amaterasu is generally considered Docile to all Adventurers and Landers that she meets, and Friendly towards Animists. - Amaterasu will sometimes wander into the village to see how things are going, and she is welcomed there as a friend. - Amaterasu will never attack, but only after a friend has been attacked, or if she is attacked first. She will avoid battle if possible. - Amaterasu was saved by Elder Yamamoto of the Moon Dance Village. Her spirit and body were recovered in the Shrine at the Great Sakura Tree. As such, she will pay a visit to the Elder every time she enters the village.

While most wouldn't consider him a horse, due to the horn atop his head, he insists that he is, and the horn is just a defect from transferring to the physical realm. His large body and strong muscles make him a bit menacing to look at, and terrifying to see running at you. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Zeke is proud, pious, and can come off as sort of a jerk at times. He will always stand his ground when in an argument, even on the losing side. That being said, he can be a powerful ally in a fight, never giving the enemy an inch to work off of. Zeke can be pushy and even intimidating, what with his massive body and powerful muscles, trying to get people or other spirits to do what he wants. Most of the time, though, it is for a good reason, like saving them from a difficult situation, or having been put on the spot. Zeke's true strength is in his muscles, not his personality or voice. That being said, his voice is powerful enough to be heard from far away. In a fight, Zeke cannot back down. He will fight to his last living breath, and even then, he will continue to fight with a mountain of Earth, summoned from beneath his dead body. But while he lives, he will never avoid a fight, and will sometimes instigate it. His proud attitude will grate on some people or spirits, enough to make them want to shut him up entirely. But, what they don't realize is that he has the strength of body and strength of will to back up his words, most of the time. Also, one would do well not to mention the fact that his horn looks stupid. That's his trigger word. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Zeke was a horse long ago in the plains of Sarum, where he frequents most. A large scale battle was held, and he was the commander's horse, riding into battle fearlessly, and sometimes without even consenting to his rider. Most of the time, however, the Commander went along with the proud horse in whatever they decided. But, as the final battle came around, the commander was knocked off Zeke, and Zeke was knocked away. Just before the killing blow to the commander, Zeke charged over and attacked the man who was to kill his rider and friend. Courageously, he sacrificed his own life, so that the commander would live another day. The day was won by the commander, who mourned the loss of a powerful ally and friend. The burial ritual they gave the horse was enough to impress the other spirits in the Spirit Realm, and they recognized Zeke's strength as the Thundering Stampede. He was then given an area to roam in the Spirit Plains, as a powerful peacekeeper, controlling the earth as his reward. Many battles were fought under his leadership, and many were won, giving him his inflated ego and proud nature. But, soon enough, he was called upon to return to the human world, to aid in the troubling circumstances that were rising, with the addition of the Adventurers in the world. Men and Women that could not be killed, or stay dead... This intrigued him. It intrigued him greatly. Zeke returned to the human world, to speak with the Adventurers. There were no texts or tales of his sacrifice, as many, many years have passed since the end of that great war. While he wishes his greatness were better revered, he found it a new goal to reach the same level as he did back then in this current time. This is when he heard about the class known as Animist, a Spirit-using class that relied heavily on the powers of the spirits. Zeke offered himself up as a possible candidate, should one need to use his Earthen Might for their strength. All shall hear the Thundering Stampede once more, and the sound shall echo across these new lands. His talons are just as sharp as one would expect, though he doesn't use them much aside from landing. His overall size is twice that of a Bald Eagle back in the other world, for reference. His wings are longer than a normal Adventurer is in height. He normally doesn't sit in one place, unless listening to someone else, but his flight speed is unmatched, whether by land, sea, or air. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Horus doesn't speak. He chooses not to use his words, but rather his actions will speak louder. He will either simply nod or shake his head on response to the ones who speak to him, and even then, he will not hold conversation for long. He is known to come and go as he pleases, very characteristic of the wind. This can sometimes give him the guise of being an inattentive spirit, which he chooses to ignore. The words of others mean nothing to him. He does things his own way, and on his own agenda. Either way, he will treat his guests and friends with respect and courtesy, despite not using any kind of verbal interaction. Despite this, he seems to get along fine with Adventurers and Landers alike. Horus does not mind the presence of a fight or not. He will not instigate it, but he sometimes can relish in the battle, getting a chance to flaunt his feathers, in the literal sense. His winds are unmatched, and he likes to prove it to those who are not aware of his capabilities. After a fight, he will likely fly off into the distance, to travel around once again, using the wind as his guide. He dislikes water, and sometimes fears it, given a storm or something. He is very hesitant to fly over the ocean, or large lakes, out of fear of falling into the water and drowning. But, with his mighty wings and power over the wind, he will likely forget about the idea, and continue flying for long periods of time. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Horus was known as a lowlife back in the Spirit World, always running and joining fights where he wasn't allowed, or even wanted. While he himself was never considered to be a troublemaker, others would assume that he relished in the fact that he could be anywhere in a short amount of time. To help stave off this, he refused to speak wherever he went, in order to maintain a good image to those around him. But, to no avail. His childlike demeanor and attitude made others believe him to be a troublemaker even more so, and eventually they cast him out of their clan, causing him to roam on his own for a long, long time. As he aged and grew, he found that there were many things he had never seen before. One of such things being the Human World, which he took immediate interest in. He'd heard that the Thundering Stampede had gone into this world not all that long ago, and began to find his own way there. He then came across and elder spirit, who said to know how to cross into the human world, same as the spirit beforehand. After performing the ritual, Horus was tricked into giving a feather to this elder spirit, which gave him all the ingredients he needed to forge himself into a younger spirit. After this, Horus was deemed unnecessary, and was banished to the Human World by the same elder spirit. Horus' journey into the other realm was painful, and cost him much as a spirit. But, he soon awoke in the land of the humans, deep within a forest. Confused and shocked, he tried to get up to fly, but his wings could not function as they had just a little while before. He gave himself time to rest, and sought shelter in a nearby tree. However, his physical body was too large to fit inside the tree, or atop its limbs, so he lived on the forest floor for a few weeks. After that time, his wings had healed, and he began to fly once again. He found that he could still control the wind, and adventured across the land, in search of a new adventure, and perhaps a way back to the Spirit World, to get revenge on the elder spirit who had tricked him. This is when he learned of the Animist class. They used and conversed with the spirits, so he thought that they might be able to find him a way back to his own world. This gave him the drive to assist them, whenever they called for him. His beating wings and powerful gales would be their allies. When he runs, it looks rather tiring and rampant, his hind legs kicking up high into the air, while his front legs glide as though it were a horse's legs. His eyes are wide and round, but black as coal. They shine in the sunlight, for sure, but still seem as though they were empty voids. Maybe it's to exemplify his stupidity. [attr="class","h3"]Personality [attr="class","b"] Bahn isn't the brightest bubble in the stream, and he knows it. Even then, though, he attempts to make life a joke, and play around as much as possible. He will not stand up for anyone, and will tend to cower from a fight quite often. His loud mouth and sporadic behavior are the centers for jokes everywhere, but even then, most cannot complain about his power over water. He hates being called stupid, short, and most other insults, while he lets all the compliments he may or may not receive go directly to his ego. He will often flaunt and flourish himself in front of others, to make a bigger name for himself. Even idiots know how to be cool sometimes. Not that it always works, of course. Bahn will likely avoid a fight at all costs, even at the cost of his friends. But, if he is demanded to do something, or tricked into doing something, he will perform the task. That being said, he knows when to fight or when to run, after a fight has begun. Perhaps this is the extent of his intelligence, in that he knows when a situation is getting bad or worse. His overall demeanor would pin him as a show-offish moron, who enjoys the company of others. This has given him the label of being a socialite by most Adventurers and Landers. Bahn will talk his little mouth off for days, if given the opportunity. He plays well with other spirits, Adventurers, and Landers, and generally treats them all the same. Hopefully, this will make him a more popular spirit to the general public. [attr="class","h3"]History [attr="class","b"] Bahn used to be just an ordinary spirit otter, living his way through the day to day processes of eternal life. He went wherever the streams and rivers took him, but managed to find his place in the Sarum area very easily. He knew his way to and from the place he called home, wherever in England he was. He'd make days long treks to different places, just for the sake of doing so. This branded him, to his earliest memory, as an idiot to the other otters and spirits that he lived with. From that point on, he began to make a joke out of his life, causing the happiness and enjoyment of all the other spirits around him, while further encouraging his idiocy. He would go to any extent to make the general populace laugh, even to the detriment of himself. One joke he took too far. He challenged one of the elder Otter to a playful spar, and actually won it, which caused his ego to rise exponentially, as well as the opinion of the others to increase significantly. After countless taunting and teasing, the elder otter had had enough, and decided to get rid of the problem, once and for all. Through clever machinations and trickery, the Otter caught Bahn in his trap, and banished him from the clan using spirit magic, but didn't realize that he was also sending him from the Spirit World, into that of the Human World. An accident that Bahn wouldn't soon forget. Eventually, though, he did. He found life in the Human World much more fun and entertaining, traveling up and down the physical streams and rivers, causing jokes and tricks to all who would enter near his waters. Upon having reached this world, he had found his ability to control the water however he saw fit, and used it in the tricks many a time. Bahn would laugh at the ones who he fooled, but soon found that there was no enjoyment quite like the dispelling of monsters, alongside the Animist class. As time went on, though, he began to gain some sense, and learned not to mess with those who he couldn't mess with. Despite this, he offered his aid to the Animist class, in order to bring about more laughs and jokes. Bahn uses his water for just such things, but mostly to make escapes and traps. It's his forte, what else can he do? He prefers to not use his water as a physical attack. - Bahn will converse with just about anyone, despite prior altercations. And when he starts talking, it's hard to get him to stop. Sometimes, even Shut Up won't work.
