Appearance (Link to appearance.) Perhaps the most striking feature of Inari is the permanent sigil that is on his forehead in shape of shield. Although it offers no stat benefits, Mikito likes to think of it as an o-mamori, or protection charm. O-mamori are Japanese items which are customarily bought from Shinto shrines, and often people carry them when travelling abroad as keepsakes. Since Mikito sees the Unfounded Kingdom as a foreign land different from his homeland of Japan, he only deemed it appropriate that he should have an o-mamori, with him. The color palette for Mikito’s character is white and different hues of blue. He wears a modified version of a traditional Shinto priest’s robe. The top layer of his clothing consists of a white haori, or kimono jacket with detached sleeves that trail across the ground. Underneath, he wears a navy blue kimono top and a periwinkle hakama that have been cut to look like shorts. And instead of an obi belt that would normally be worn, holding this whole entire ensemble together is a navy blue shimenawa, which is a kind of thickly braided straw rope used for ritual purification in the Shinto religion. Although he has worn kimonos before, Mikito had to admit that the lack of maneuverability while wearing one, albeit modified, it still pretty annoying. He also wears knee-high tabi socks, along with traditional geta slippers that are about 3 inches high, making him seem to be of average height. But in reality, at about 160 centimeters, Mikito is of slightly below average height, which translates to Inari when trapped in-game. He finds a bit hard getting accustomed to walking in these faux-heels in-game, but gets the hand of it soon enough. He has sharp blue eyes, which makes it seem as though he has the Demon’s Eye skill constantly active, but truthfully, he only chose the eye-color to stay in color scheme. As one of the fox-tail race, Inari also has snow-white ears and twin fox tails that have a fading gradient from white at the base to periwinkle at the ends. His hair is also shares the same kind of coloring, but it is styled in messy layers, with long bangs in the front and even longer payots just right behind his bangs; the back and sides of his hair are noticeably shorter. As it is somewhat of a girly-style of hair, he has been mistaken for a girl on numerous occasions, and his reluctance to speak-up allows such comments to go unaddressed, much to Mikito’s inner chagrin. Back in Japan, such comments were never warranted for him, and slightly longer hair for boys was normal, stylish even. Overall, due to having a thin and somewhat feminine looking frame, Inari is pretty ambiguous looking to the untrained eyes. As far as accessories go, he also wears a blue magatama necklace, reminiscent of the ones that can be seen when shamans cast their healing spell, Prayer of Recovery. | Personality Mikito’s personality in the real world does not differ heavily from his persona in-game as Inari. Calm and easy-going, Mikito has always loved observing people and things from afar. In-game, this trait is seen manifested in his choice to wield a bow instead of a close-quarters melee type weapon. Mikito himself can observed to always be wearing a slight smile on his face and a rather dazed look coming through his eyes, but his perception of people is top-notch. Despite his seemingly kind demeanor, he shies away from talking with others, and he prefers to keep to himself and instead lets his actions do the talking. He is not the one that would be considered the life of the party persay, but definitely a nice one-on-one conversation partner if you get him to open up. His reluctance to hold a verbal conversation probably stems from the fact that he is a fairly new immigrant within the U.K. and is not confident in his English abilities. Back when Elder Tale was just a game, he could type out conversations (as out-dated the notion was) instead of speaking through the headset. However, now that he is trapped in the game that has now become his reality, he has found that he has to use his voice more often than he would like to. When in larger groups, he tends to use hand motions and sign language or even making use of his sigilmaking skills and draw things out for people. As a result of his lack of interaction with others, Mikito can seem to be quite introverted, and although he likes to help others, he does not like looking for help himself. A tactile, hands-on kind of guy through and through, Mikito tries to be self-reliant as possible. Despite being stuck inside a game, Mikito does not lament over his situation too much. Rather, he sees it as an opportunity to learn about the new country he came to just 6 months prior in the real world before the Catastrophe happened. Seeing as the Unfounded Kingdom mirrors the real-life U.K., he is taking life in-game as a way of a cultural exchange of sorts. He figures if there was the safest way to learn about a new culture, being stuck in a game with little penalty would be it. |

Trivia
- He is still a bit unaccustomed to living in the UK, but one custom he seems to have a particular penchant for is the British idea of “Tea Time.” Having previously only tasted various types of green tea from matcha to houji-cha, he is amazed at the sheer variety that is found abroad and sets aside sometime every day to try a new tea. The daily ritual of his can range from actually changing the type of tea leaves he uses to as simply keeping the tea leaves steeped in the hot water a little longer. This habit of his is evident in his Brewer subclass.
Biography
Mikito Koyama originally hailed from a small city outside of Metropolitan Tokyo in the neighboring prefecture of Chiba and went to a private elementary and middle schools before going to a boarding high school in the U.K.
His mother was a university professor of Classical Japanese Literature and taught Mikito from a young age about the great figures that stemmed from Japanese literature, such as the charismatic Genji and the honorable Benkei. As such, Mikito had a deep appreciation for things that were considered traditional Japanese arts, such as the Tea Ceremony and Kyuudou, or Japanese archery.
His father was a diplomat for the Japanese government and often spent time away from home on tours every few years. Despite the fact that his father was not around much, Mikito’s father always made sure to bring him lots of souvenirs from his travels. Perhaps this is why Mikito has a bit more feminine side to him than an obviously masculine one.
One day, it had been decided that Mikito’s father would be given a long-term post at the Japanese Embassy in London and would be promoted to be the Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Mikito had never gone more than a couple years without seeing his father, and he was not sure if he could bare any longer than that. Thus, the whole family made the decision to relocate to the United Kingdom.
There were not a lot of schools Mikito could choose from in the U.K. that had a Japanese curriculum. Unfortunately, his English skills were not at the point where he could comfortably transfer into a regular high school in the U.K. Instead, his parents decided to enroll him in the Teikyou School, United Kingdom, which was a Japanese boarding school in Buckinghamshire, right outside of London.
The classes were conducted mainly in Japanese, and he had extra-curricular lessons in English to help him along. However, as the months went on, he realized he was not improving as much as he would like to. His parents, on one of their monthly visits to see their son, saw that Mikito was feeling a bit down. They decided to buy him an early Christmas present to cheer him up, which was the immensely popular game, Elder Tale.
Although Mikito himself was not much for games, he thought that maybe he could just sit and listen in-game to the English that was being spoken and have better language acquisition that way. In any case, it would be better than hearing the phrase “I am a pen,” and “Hello, my name is John. How do you do?” over and over again. With slight anxiety, but an open mind, Mikito logged into Elder Tale as the Foxtail Shaman-Brewer-Sigilmaker, Inari.

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Shaman
Summon Shikigami: Tier I Skill
The Shaman calls forth a shikigami, a humanoid familiar spirit, in a solid form. The appearance of a Shikigami varies from Shaman to Shaman, but typically they resemble humans with pronounced animal-like features similar to Fox Tails that normally wear Eastern traditional clothing. They are normally said to have a personality and body representative of the Shaman's inner self. This means that while some Shikigami will resemble their masters, others may look vastly different and may even be of the opposite gender. For Shamans who employ more than one Shikigami, each particular Shikigami will still look distinct but will seem to be like siblings. As a Shikigami is representative of the true self, it can speak and understand the languages that the Shaman may speak. Shikigami are usually used in a support role, with tasks ranging from off-tanking to scouts to support DPS. There is a wide range of shikigami that a Shaman can summon, and they last for 5 minutes. In the original game, shikigami were treated as bonus content for players, with little to no practical use. However, after the Catastrophe, shikigami now share the same sensations with their masters, allowing shikigami to serve reconnaissance roles in battle. Of course, there are shikigami that are well-loved by many as mascots. This skill has a casting time of 5 seconds. Only one Shikigami may be summoned at a time.

Demon's Eye: Tier I Skill
This skill when activated will slightly increases accuracy rate of the user's weapons. It also causes the weapon to be immune to hit spirit-type mobs whom normally nullify incoming physical damage. Of course, a successful hit requires an active attack towards a desired foe regardless. There was one time when the developers received e-mails saying that "I've used the Demon's Eye and I still keep on missing on ghost mobs!" among others. For this reason, several balance changes were implemented. When used, this skill adds a blue radiance on one's eyes, a rather scary sight post-Catastrophe. This skill has a casting time of 4 seconds, a duration of 60 seconds, and a cooldown of 70 seconds.

Rapid Shot: Tier I Skill
A physical ranged attack. While adventurers normally favor the blade in combat, some prefer striking from afar, staying unseen even as their victims breathe their last breaths. As the user is somewhat limited by the strength of their bows, unable to apply their full strength at time, Rapid Shot was designed to increase the number of arrows that can be fired. In the time that it takes for most of fire one arrow, a user of this technique can fire two. Accuracy is slightly reduced however, as the user cannot take the time to focus their aim with this technique. This skill may be used with a firearms weapon to fire a bullet 50% faster but retaining the same damage. This skill has an animation time of 1 second and a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Roleplay Class: Sigilmaker
Seal of Aquarius: The Sigilmaker is able to create emblems which passively raises a target's stats for a short duration. This skill has a casting time of 5 seconds and a cooldown time of 10 seconds. When using this skill, the Sigilmaker must declare one of the following stats: Strength, Dexterity, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom. The target will receive an Aquarius Sigil buff and the stat selected will be increased by 5% for the duration of the target's next post. Only one Aquarius Sigil can affect a single target at a time. For every 10 levels the Sigilmaker achieves, the duration of an Aquarius Sigil increases by 1 post.
Crafting Class: Brewer
Detox: When your occupation is all about alcohol, you can't let things like hangovers slow you down! This skill can be toggled, allowing brewers to become immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and potions. They also passively recover from sickness status effects twice as quickly.
