Deep sludge wrapped in coils around the majestic white steed, Icarus’s legs as the horse trudged through the wastelands of the forsaken swamp lands. He let out a light neigh as his head bobbed up and down and his chocolate coated eyes began to blink at the boiling and bubbling waters. With each step, a subtle splash resonated through the forest and made the forest seem a bit more creepier as the duo marched on. The horse seemed to be bold an unafraid. A fine specimen of a warhorse and a very noble steed to have on one’s side.
Saskia was proud of the champion colt and it’s many virtues. It was a great asset for her to have on the field as well as in combat. It gave her superb mobility. The option to multitask and engage multiple targets, and also helped augment her damage output as she was a more defense based Guardian. She was clad in shimmering steel armor and her shield that was draped upon her back began to clank against her armor as she rode her horse gallantly onward. She seemed to be rather calm, despite her surroundings and her eyes burned with a bright fervor as she scanned the marshlands.
The area was known for the clever and tricky goblins that scoured the area, and wheras they were no trouble for her, she didn’t necassarily appreciate their ability to knock her off her steed and interrupt the progress she was making while on horseback. Just the mere thought of being knocked back into this vile disgusting swamp brought chills to her spine and a burning bloodlust to her eyes. She remembered that one of her own personal first battles was in the company of a strange werecat monk whom she found literally laughing and strangling a Goblin scout as he dunked it’s head underwater.
The timid Saskia back then grimaced at the sight at was at a sharp loss for words after realizing what she had just seen. However, she began to lose sympathy for the decrepit beasts after they tackled her into the water and tried to shove a dagger in her eye. Yes, theat was definitely one way to get on this woman’s bad side for good. In the beginning she held a soft sympathy for the creatures of the forest, not wanting to bring them harm. However, after learning that the effects of aggro never change, she has found herself simply wanting to bash their brains in.
She now enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, and this moment in the marshes brought her back to when she and her band of soldiers from Vylbrand stormed a goblin encampment and took out several goblins, despite some of them becoming human pincushions and the nasty fact that she got knocked into a lake with a brutal blow from a warhammer and almost drowned. Fortunately, though the rest of her guildmates were great allies and rescued her quickly.
Saskia smiled as she kept a slow pace through the marshlands. She rubbed a gentle hand through her horses mane and stated.
“Alright Icarus, let’s just make sure to keep an eye out for those nasty goblins....you see one coming, feel friend to give them the good ol’ mule kick to the face, ‘mkay?”

Burai was excited, and horrified. This was going to be his first time away from Nyumo. She was a dear friend to him. But, he decided to take a small trip and go sight seeing. He wondered, what she would do with her time away from him. Perhaps she would train, herself? A Dreadful thought of her being wounded slithered into his mind. He froze in place, and gasped. Thoughts of her bleeding out, played throughout his mind, like an old black and white movie. He would forsake everything to protect her. Not just her, but anyone whom he held dear. Friendship and loyalty; two words that defined his morals. His thoughts, swayed from those dark and strenuous feelings, and turned them toward the present. For the moment he would focus on what he 'could' do. His train of thought was broken by a disgusting stench.
He looked around periodically, he didn't recognize anything around him. A light, uneasy chuckle escaped his lips, and he came to the conclusion that he was lost. Seemed, as if he found himself in a swamp. He placed his right hand behind his neck and stroked vigorously. He had a horrible sense of direction. But, getting lost was the best way to learn your way around. He tugged on his neck and rolled it clockwise. Letting out a brief sigh, he decided to continue going forward. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." He began walking forward, trying to stay on his original path.
The path he was on vanished. He made a brave decision to tread lightly through the murky swamp. He cringed, as he made his first step, delicately dipped his left foot into the swamp. Once his boot touched the bottom he tapped it firmly a few times. Making sure he had proper footing, after a multitude of tapping. He placed his other foot in right beside it. To his surprise the swamp was shallow. He slowly began to make his way through, high stepping with each step. He heard a light neigh followed by footsteps nearby. His eyes shot wide open, in surprise. "A horse?" His imagination, began to take flight. He wondered, if he was lucky enough to come across a Unicorn, or a Pegasus! "Wouldn't it be great if this was one last of its breed. How unfortunate would that be to the Last unicorn, or Pegasus." He decided to investigate, and headed toward the direction.
Burai hurried through the swamp, hoping to catch up with the creature. Making a lot of splashing, as he clumsily ran through the swamp. He staggered through some bushes when he saw a person on a horse. He let out a loud whine, he was hoping it would've a unicorn. "Hey! Um, excuse me!" He felt embarrassed, being level one and lost in this swamp of all places. He was dubious about the current situation.

Saskia became alerted by the sounds of splashing and rustling through the marshlands. She was very wary and quickly used her [Quickswap] skill to get into her more efficient gear. She typically didn’t like using it normally as the maintenance costs over type were beginning to get ridiculous. She disliked the fee system that made her get charged for repairs every time her gear went through damage during a raid or while she was hunting mobs. As she tugged on the reins of her horse, she shouted out to Icarus, her trusty steed.
“Goblins, Icarus! It’s an ambush!” She cried out as she raised her long spear vigilantly at the source of the noise, while securing her shield from her back. Her armor gleamed through the canopy and kissed the outer shell of the canvas of her armor as she sat perched on her colt like a mounted knight.
Icarus neighed wildly and huffed hot air from his nostrils in an aggresive and irritated manner as he looked at the male with his chocolate eyes.
“Just what in the hell...for christ’s sake, man! I took you for a goblin or something.” Saskia quipped as her thumping heartbeat began to settle in her chest.
“Well...” She muttered as she examined him. “You certainly don’t look like a PKer. You know you got to be careful out here in these zones. We got lots of weirdos that loom in the marshlands and they live for scoring off easy kills on players.”
Saskia nodded patiently.
“Did you really have to make yourself so bloody tall? Lucky for me I got my horse or I’d feel like a midget beside you!” Saskia chuckled.
“I don’t know what it is about Monks and Swamps...I guess you guys love it out here. I know a few monks. Best one on the server is a Dwarf. How insane is that! We also got a werecat in my guild. He’s pretty wild, too. Does more talking with his fists than his own mouth!” Saskia laughed.
“So, what brings you out to the dirty marshlands of all places? Got a bone to pick with some of the Gobbos?” Saskia inquired. “I know I sure do! It’s time to get payback for when those bloody bastards tried to drown me in a lake when I was around your level. Matter of fact...they did it twice! Well, I damn sure ain’t gonna be made a fool of! That’s for sure!” Saskia snarled as she smirked confidently.
As she spun her long spear around her fingers, twirling it about overhead, she placed it back on her back, and rode Icarus alongside the man and extended her hand, gesturing for a handshake.
“Saskia Steelheart. Guardian-Cavalier Hybrid. Taker of souls, yadda yadda....you know the rest.”
Saskia chuckled as she stared at his fist. “So you know how to work your way around that class? Need any help leveling or something? You guys are a tank like me...though, I guess it takes a bit more...finesse..to do what you do.”

Burai gasped, and looked at the woman shocked. Her armor changed in an instant. He was curious what skill that was. And, if he could do it. Though, he liked being shirtless, Most of his favorite martial artists were shirtless, in their films. He would honor them all in his own unique way, being topless. And, if someone didn't like it. They would just have to pout, and stare at his muscle. His train of thought dispersed, as the woman shouted at her horse. "Goblins?" Burai hopped back and brought his fists close to his cheeks. He didn't know what level these goblins would be. But, he wouldn't go down without a fight.
He stood still for a moment, waiting for the ambush. His eyes scanned the area around him, and saw nothing. He diverted his eyes back at the woman; she was pointing her lance directly at him. Burai scoffed, he was impressed. She looked like one of those old school knights, straight out of a movie, or fairy tail. But was he crazy? Did she really think he was a goblin, or was she going to PK him? He prepared himself, for an attack. Even, the horse seemed eager or a fight, ready to charge at him, "Good grief." If the horse wanted some too, Burai would give him a taste, as well. He would punch it right on the schnoz.
Eventually the woman, spoke and admitted her mistake. Though he was displeased. Did he really look like a goblin. Goblins must be really cool looking, the thought of a legion of goblins with his face brought a crude smile on is face, along with a slight chuckle. The woman continued, going on about his appearance, and then informing him of PKers. Burai lowered his hands, and stood in silence, listening to her. She reminded him of Nyumo; once he started talking, she wouldn't stop and it was best to catch her at moments, when she needed to breathe. But even then it was tricky, cause there was a chance that she would keep on going. Eventually, the woman began to talk about herself, and a few of her friends. He simply nodded, as she spoke to signify that he was listening. She asked him why he was here, and she gave her reasoning for being here, as well.
Burai liked her, well as far as first impressions went. She seemed nice, a little boisterous, but nice. Nothing wrong with being head strong. She reached out her hand and introduced herself. He reached out his hand and shook her's. "I'm Burai, to fancy titles just yet. But if I had to pick one... The Errant Monk" He thought it was fitting, it sounded better than the 'monk who has no sense of direction. He gently let go of her hand and took a step back. "To answer all of your questions accurately. I'm here cause I got lost." He gave her a confident smile, there was no shame in his voice. Though it was embarrassing that he was lost. He wouldn't let something so trivial wound his pride, or shake his confidence. He lifted his hands and tilted upward, so that his palms were upright. "I know a thing or two about fighting. But I haven't got into any battles yet-" He paused, staring at his hands, after a moment he lowered them and laid his eyes on Saskia. "I would be honored, if you would teach me some things, or 'show me the ropes' as some would say."

When Burai looked shocked and exclaimed about the possibilities of Goblins being about, it made Saskia blink in bewilderment until it finally hit her. He had no idea what she was talking about. She managed to confuse them both in the crazy encounter as they stumbled upon each other. At least he had seemed vigilant enough and was on his guard. Perhaps he had actually been used to fights already? He seemed to have rather enchanting features being a brown skined male with blonde hair fashioned in a rather unique style. Though she wasn’t used to seeing a man shirtless and found herself occasionly admiring his physique, namely, his washboard abs.
Such a thing was terrible for a woman who was supposed to be the faithful girlfriend of the esteemed Warden, Bailin, and Director of Education at the Vylbrand Academy. However, a little bit of eye candy wouldn’t hurt would it? After all, what woman didn’t like chocolate?
He seemed to be a patient manner and tolerated the head strong woman as she spoke her mind. Usually she was a bit more elegant and graceful, but the murky wasteland rattled her nerves and she was already becoming annoyed with the swarms of bugs and parasites that nipped on her neck. She wondered how on earth the man managed to handle all the mosquitos in the swamp. They loved places like these and thrived on the people there.
She was happy that he wasn’t too offended by her and shook his hand. His hand felt rough and calloused. She wondered if that’s how he had designed the character to be or if that was how he became over time. He introduced himself and proclaimed his title and admitted to being lost. He was however, confident in his ability to fight, but was humble enough to accept Saskia’s help.
Saskia parted her cherry lips in response.
“Burai. It’s unique. A strong name. I like it.” She commented as she gazed up at the name that hovered over his head.
“The Errant Monk...I like the duality of that word Errant..it means to stray from the proper course and also has a meaning similiar to the thrill for adventure. I guess that explains how you ended up here. But don’t worry about that. They say when the student is ready, the teacher will appear!” Saskia chuckled.
“At least that’s what I read in some Zen Buddhism book that had some quotes from monks like yourself. Well...at least the more pacifist ones. Not the kind that can punch a whole in a brick wall.” Saskia laughed.
“I know that you’re probably eager to move on, but first I just want to make sure you are aware of how all the skills work in this new virtual environment. It’s not like what you are used to. There are three different ways to activate skills. ”
“The first, is a common form of which you might be used to. It’s manually clicking the skill from the menu. Basically it’s the point and click method. Also known as the Interface Style. Generally more of the spell characters do this, while melee fighters just go with the flow and their own primal instincts.”
“Thus leading us to the second form. Which is basically using hotkeys, which is very efficient. All you have to do is assume or pose or shout a command and the skill gets activated. Also known as the Hotkey style. It’s good for combat on the go. Especially when up close and personal!”
“Lastly, we have a unique style. It’s a bit more fluid in nature and it’s basically like using a skill as if it were second nature, without the need for hotkeys or a skill menu. It’s something you get down with practice as you become more familiar with your skills.”
“Speaking of skills, here’s a bit of a demonstration of the first. ”
Saskia summoned her skills menu and clicked on Ares as a target. She then waved her hand over the [Heal] skill and cast it on her, engulfing her in a soothing bluish green aura.
After the twenty second cooldown she, shouted “Heal!” and aimed her hand at the girl, demonstrating how she could activate the skill through poses and vocal commands.
“I hope that was a good enough explanation for you. I’ll try to get you some hands on training...I know the usual spawn point’s on this map like the back of my hand. Me and the guildies usually come out here to train and raid goblin encampments. This is a spot I bring some of the fresh guys. The Gobbos are around level one to five. “ Saskia muttered as she traversed across the camp at a steady gait allowing him time to follow.
After traveling about fifty meters, she brought a fist up, signalling him to halt.
“You see there? There’s two goblin scouts patrolling outside their encampment. "
“We’ll work as a team. I’ll engage the one on the left. You take the one on the right. “ She suggested as she dialed through her menu and brought her level down to four. She sent him a swift nod and before he knew it, she would burst into a violent whirlwind as she activated [Fold Step] while upon her horse and sent a heavy [Shield Bash] towards the greenish shirtless goblin on the left who wielded dual hand axes.

He didn't understand why she was looking at him, so attentively. Truthfully, it was a little nerve wrecking. But, he liked the attention. There wasn't anyone else present, so it was probably his imagination. He took it as a compliment, anyway. Maybe she approved of his appearance? Secretly, he wanted to show himself off a bit, though that would be vain. He didn't receive many compliments, and only Nyumo complimented him on his looks. Questions arose in the back of his mind. Which did they like the best? His muscles, his face, or was it his hair? Burai adored his dreads. His thoughts shifted from himself and toward Saskia. She had piqued his curiosity. And, he was eager to see how the rest of this adventure would unfold.
He took a moment to examine Saskia. His eyes started toward the top of her head and traced the outline of her body downward. As he ogled, he placed his right hand to his chin, slowly extended his index finger across his bottom lip and toward his left cheek. While simultaneously rubbing the outline of his chin and jawline with his thumb; it slowly extended to the right and traced the edges of his face thoroughly pressing down roughly into his skin. He seemed to be deep in thought, pausing. Saskia's body appeared to be slender, and if she was anything like Nyumo, she would be athletic. Though Nyumo would disagree, and say that she is more athletic. Saskia, did have something Nyumo didn't, and that was experience. Burai knew it would be unwise, and a tragedy to underestimate her.
He gave his thoughts a rest, as Saskia began to speak. Burai could feel his heart flutter, it was beating so rapidly. It felt like a horse at the race track sprinting for first place. He was excited, he was about to embark on his training. This had to be every true martial artist's fan's dream. Travel to some distant land, or a swamp. Meet an old hermit. Who would take him under his wing and educate him in the ways of the martial arts. Burai was living a dream! He was pumped, he was eager to start his training. He quickly raised both of his hand, and slammed them together.
"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.." He had never heard that saying before. But, it sounded so cool. The proverb echoed through his mind. His gaze at Saskia softened, he began to see her differently. He couldn't quite grasp the feeling. He couldn't understand it at all. It was a completely new sensation. Perhaps his body agreed with the statement. Burai took a mental note and decided to accept her, as his teacher. He snapped out of his daze, as she began to inform him about 'skills' and how to activate them.
"In three different ways, huh?" Burai pondered on this, "With how real everything is. Fighting would be 'real-time' as well. Clicking from the skill menu would take too much time." As a Monk, he was confident that battles would be very intense and fast pace. "Yeah, Clicking seems like that would a pain to do in a fight. I rather punch something instead." He thought about the next one. 'Hot Keys,' This was more up his alley, quick and easy to use. And, all he would have to do is shout, or assume the position. He watched and read his fair share of anime, and manga to know that one doesn't simply do battle without shouting an catchy phrase for their attacks. Actually, Burai spent a few hours practicing his phrases.
Burai was most curious about the last style. Unique style, could players actually use skills in such a way? How long would it take a person to master it? He thought he might be getting ahead of himself. He first needed to get into a fight, and try it out first hand. Saskia gave him a live demonstration. After a moment she waved her hand around, and casted something. He nodded, as he watched the visual effects. After her first cast, she waited and did it again, this time shouting heal.
After his demonstrations she made her way through the swamp. Burai kept up with her steady pace. As they continued, she informed him about the goblins. "Level one to five?" Burai was feeling confident. He hoped he would get lucky and find a level one goblin. So he could test out his strength, without too much stress. He didn't want to be overwhelmed by a level five goblin. She brought a fist up, signaling him to halt. Burai stopped dead in his tracks. And looked at the two goblins she pointed at. Saskia devised a simple plan. She took the left one, and I would take the right.
He watched her lunged into battle. It was inspiring, He turned his gaze over to the goblin he was going to fight. It certainly didn't look impressive. Short, big nose, pale green skin, and wielded both a shield, and hand axe Burai stood up straight and exhaled. He dashed forward, grabbing the goblin by its waist with both of his hands. He shouted "Suplex!" Suddenly he felt a surge of energy jolt through him, and he lifted the goblin off the ground with ease. Then he held it over his head, and smirked devilishly. He fell backward, slamming the goblin into the ground.
Burai let go of the goblin, and quickly rose to his feet. He turned to face the goblin, bring both of his hands close to his cheeks. He extended his left hand and waved at the goblin, Taunting it. "Come get some." He said, panting lightly. The Goblin sneered at Him in response. Burai took his eye off the goblin for a moment to see how Saskia, "How are you doing over there master?" His tone of voice was light and playful. He didn't expect her to have trouble dealing with the goblin. But, a little rivalry and teasing was harmless fun for all. Word Count: 1011

Saskia didn’t know how he felt about her gazing awkwardly at him, but from what she sensed in his body language, maybe he was checking her out, too? The notion almost would have made her blush if she hadn’t have developed her militant bearing. Wearing her best poker face she examined him bringing his hand up to his rugged jawline. What a beefcake! She felt as if she was being spoiled by his presence, but she restrained herself, for such thoughts were unvirtuous and unladylike. After all, she was in a relationship, and Bailin was a stunning gentleman himself. But there was something about the old adage: Once you go black yo can’t go back! Saskia broke her bearing for a slight moment as she tried to hold back a chuckle.
The man appeared to be a mighty hulk, reminiscent of a black bruce lee with dreads. It was a rather amazing sight. He was far more muscular than Bailin by comparison, who was rather slim in figure. After playing the comparison game, she blinked back from her daydream of having them both in a hot tub with her. Such devious desires flooded her twisted mind as she shook them off. She was a terrible woman, but she soon remembered that she had a task at hand. She was supposed to be helping a new player out. That was all.
He was probably more eager to get into the fight than to indulge in idle chatter and a swamp lacked the ambiance for any type of nurtured conversation. She figured that he had a passion for hand to hand combat as he blantantly ignored the various spells and weapons available to the other classes. As he slammed his hands togethered, Saskia could only think of one word to describe him.
“Fierce.”
The words prowled out of her mouth as she smirked confidently. It seemed he was ready to diligently undergo his own personal one on one training series with the wolf hair. He appeared to be letting her words about the various ways to optimize his skills as he let her words marinate in his mind.
As he made his comment she scoffed and mentioned a subtle detail.
“You sound like a monk in my guild named Spades. His first instinct is to just slam his fist in first and ask questions later once his enemy is puking their guts out.” Saskia chuckled.
“Maybe I can link you two up together so he can show you more of the advanced skills. He’s breaking his way into those Tier II abilities.” She mentioned. “I also met the highest level monk on the sevrer. He’s in another guild. His name’s Tobin. Crazy dwarf’s probably drunk half the time. But he is damn skilled at what he does. I’m sure.”
He was very attentive during her demonstrations which she appreciated. He seemed very dedicated to learning and she was convinced that he would make an excellent pupil. She began to believe that he’d probably be one that relied more on his primal instincts and muscle memory during a fight than toying around with hotkeys and menus.
She nodded as he sked about the levels, smiling in return to the confidence he had exuded.
“He also understands hand signs. Good.” She thought to herself as they halted an observed the enemy territory.
After they devised a grand scheme of events, they spun the wheel into motion as they made their courageous charge.
Saskia seemed to be concentrated on her own battle as she activated her [Sword Rain Flurry] technique. An attack that sent a series of five sharp thrusts to the goblins belly as his attack was interrupted from the previous shield bash from earlier.
She heard the vocal command of her allies skill, and cut a gaze to check out the dynamic entry Burai had made after slamming the beast into the ground.
Like her, he still had not finished off their opponents, which was expected given their level, though the goblin she faced suffered damage just a few points over the monk. Naturally monks were a bit more offensive than guardians, but her adjusted level tipped the scales ever so slightly.
“All good on this end. Remember if you want to train that unique style, you need to keep your movements fluid like water. Remember you’re not some idiotic beast like they are. You’ve got a brain. Watch them closely and discern their patterns. Civilize the mind and make savage the body. You’re built for evasion. Watch as they telegraph their movements and make for the oppurtune moment to strike!” She instructed as the goblin in front of her charged up an attack, she patiently waited. Holding her long spear in front of her, she awaited it’s leap, as she had predicted and she slammed her spear into it’s chest, effectively skewering it upon the spear with her [Counter break] skill.

Finally Burai gotten to sink his teeth into some actual fighting. He didn't take a serious approach to it. This was all still very new to him, the battle system and the game itself. Being a beginner, and his carefree attitude. It was only natural for him to act reckless. He was having fun, Though it was only for a brief moment. Suplexing that the goblin felt amazing, he never felt such a rush! It left him with a ravaging lust for more, he wanted to experience more. He only began to scratch the surface, but be thinking of it as an iceberg, and he was just at the very tip of the monstrosity. Burai wanted to explore the rest of it, to dwell deeper and discover more, see what lay hidden underneath.
He was unsure, if it would be wrong of him to explore this new pleasure. But, he would allow it to run free during this small bout between him and the goblin. He was ignoring his opponent, and sneaking a glance at Saskia. "Just a few more seconds." He watched to watch her, and her movements. Though she was a different class. He could pick up a few tips or tricks of his own, and apply it to himself. He didn't see much, she actually took time during her fight to reprimand him. And, give him a lecture. A bead of sweat formed on the left side of his forehead, and swiftly trailed down the side of his face. It rolled down to his jaw line, where it hung for its dear life. With a shake of his head the sweat bead fell.
Burai couldn't believe she was giving him a lecture. She told him to be like water, and to use his brain. Watch their movements. Finally, she gave him an example. The goblin she faced lunged at her. Suddenly she slammed her spear into its chest. "Amazing." Was the only word that escaped his lips. It was truly like an old Kung Fu movie. He truly felt like he was living a dream. This only fueled his passion, and lust for battle more. Watching Saskia perform such a move was inspiring. And, if what she said rang true. He would be able to perform such acts with ease. He stared at her for a moment, She definitely had a presence about her. Burai recalled something she said about a monk in her guild, whom he reminded her of. He assumed she belonged to a strong guild, and was highly ranked in it. Burai never got involved in guilds, he never quite fit in. He found them to be a horrible experience. He would always get into fights and arguments, especially with pompous guild leaders, who looked down on everyone else. Remembering a few incidents cause a frown to appear on his lips. An unbearable taste rose in the corner of his mouth. His mind was elsewhere, and he completely forgot about the goblin.
A loud shriek came from behind him, Burai turned around suddenly. To see see a goblin in midair, lunging straight at him. "Wh-" He stumbled to the side, barely able to escape the attack. The goblin's attack didn't end there, once it landed it turned around sharply and swiped at Burai's torso. He was slow to react and took the full force of the attack. The swing staggered him backward a few steps. Burai pressed his hand against his chest, it was throbbing and ringing with pain. "You mean, I can feel this?" His eyes locked onto the goblin and clenched his fists. He was angry, furious at the goblin. Burai took a deep breath to calm his nerves. The goblin rushed forward at him again. It leapt into the air again, lifting its axe into the air, readying itself for its next attack. Burai did nothing, he slowly lowered his hands. He closed his eyes and concentrated. "Water... Shapeless, formless." He casually opened his eyes, his eyes glamored with assertiveness. He activated [Iron Body]. The goblin came crashing down violently, Burai merely pivoted on his back foot twirling around the goblin. Once he was behind it, he arched his right arm slowly drawing it back. Once his fist was parallel with his stomach. He drove his fist forward into the goblin's spine.
The goblin let out a yelp, and fell down to his knees. Burai towered over the monster staring down at it with a cold stare. His eyes strayed over to his fist. He took a moment to examine his skin. Noticing the change, he smirked. "Perhaps this is, what Saskia meant?" He shifted his eyes back at the goblin and frowned. "Come, I'll give you a free hit!" Burai boasted, taunting the goblin more.

While the monks movements seemed to be more wild and sporadic with a vicious proactive tenacity, Saskia’s own techniques seemed to be like an impenetrable fortress. She would often simply stand there like a stone wall and wait for her opponent to strike first as she learned their attack patterns. She was unwavering in calculating as she considered the a battle an infernal game of chess. Saskia was not the type to swing her sword or spear blindly in arrogance. She was the patient predator that prowled the woods upon her horse. Giving her the perfect height to leverage over her enemies as she stalked the fields.
Her heartbeat would hush to the rhythm of the war drum of combat and the increasing tempo of the adrenaline that rushed in her opponents veins. She however, preferred to remain cool, calm, and collected as her glowing orbs scorched like the burning sun as she scrutinized her opponent. Waiting for him to telegraph every skill, through a series of redundant animations. She would gather various statistics and data, counting the very seconds it took them to load, cast, and recast their abilities. She was as clever as she was fierce in combat as she cantered Icarus in a half arc around the goblin.
Her firm striking gaze lingered as she watch twirl it’s axes in it’s hands. Then she notices the slight reflex in his shoulders. A telegraphing motion that meant it was prepared to strike. An exhalation of breath released from her nose as her eyes narrowed in malice. She was prepared. As the Goblin leaped in the air with his dual axes, she held her spear over the horison of her head and met his axes with the metal of her long spear as the steel collided upon the iron axes when she activated her [Parry] ability to thoroughly negate a vast majority of the damage that would be inflicted through the game mechanics.
As he recoiled back from her effective defenses. Saskia’s eyes twitched with confidence. She knew the beast man had wasted his skill and entered a state of cool down. She advanced on him like the rapid waves in a violent tsunami as she made the blood wash over him as she thrust her long spear inside his gut with the force of a proud lioness. Driving further, she pulled out the long spear then stabbed it once more. This time, the spear entered his throat, where his arms dropped the iron axes and then gripped the shaft of the spear for a mere second, before drifting lifelessly below his hips as he dangled to the tree she had pinned him to.
She turned her head to Burai, ignoring the anima bubbles that were cast skyward as she had defeated her opponent.
She watched his motions and seemed quite pleased as he was making progress. He seemed to be an adept monk with a bit of a sassy flavor, at least to his opponents.
“”When your opponent is hurrying recklessly, you must act contrarily and keep calm. You must not be influenced by the opponent.”
“It may seem difficult at first, but everything is difficult at first.” She then added.

Burai was getting the hang of this combat. It reminded him of his sparring sessions at the gym. He liked to box in his spare time. He wasn't trying to become a professional. It was nothing more than a hobby. And, kept him in great shape too. Breathing through your nose pacing yourself. He didn't like standing still. He wanted to be on the move, standing in one place too long, made you an easy target. And, that was the quickest way to find yourself sprawled out on the canvas, or in this case dead.
He was adjusting to the effect of [Iron Body] He could see it was draining his MP. But, the attack and defense boost was nice. He was eager to continue the fight, but being a man of his word. He didn't press forward to attack the goblin. Burai was going to wait for the goblin to attack him. He wanted to humiliate the goblin, have it feel the embarrassment he felt after being dealt that blow to his chest. The goblin quickly gathered itself, and snarled at Burai. He simply nodded in response. That is when Saskia gave him more advice, she reminded him of his boxing coach. He listened to her words, but didn't do anything to show that he complied. He assumed she defeated her goblin, since there were no more sounds of combat coming from her direction. This left him feeling a little pressured. He couldn't slack off, or be sloppy with someone spectating. Especially if it was his teacher. There was a glint of confidence in the corner of his right eye, as he stared down at the goblin. "I almost feel bad, you know if she wasn't watching I would've liked this to continue. I think it's time for a 'shortcut!'"
The goblin leapt high into the air, preparing to swipe at Burai's face. It brought the ax above his head and swiped down ferociously. Burai smirked devilishly, as he saw the axe slicing through the air, falling down toward his face. He activated [Iron Rhino Stance] and took the full force of the blow directly. He clenched his left hand in a fist. And fiercely, shot it upward crashing it into the goblin's crotch. Burai followed his attack by grabbing the goblin, squeezing it tightly. "Suplex!" He lifted the goblin up over his head, and fell backwards, slamming its head first into the ground.
Burai didn't bother standing after the attack, he deactivated [Iron Rhino Stance] and [Iron Body]. He let go of the goblin, and stood up straight. He looked behind him to see the goblin had some hope left. He took a step back, and lifted his leg slowly before violently stepping down on the goblin's throat. "I always, wanted to do that..." He said with a light chuckle, he extended his left arm out and gave Saskia a thumbs up. "How was that Master~?"

Now the ever observant spectator, Saskia watched eagerly with a close and calculating eye, his movements after she conquered her foe. She wanted to see just what this guy was about. She seemed like he had heart, being both bold and courageous. However, she didn’t know if he was the type that was too reckless and unfocused. She needed to watch his movements and skill manipulation carefully to discern where his strengths and weaknesses lie.
She watched as the flow of mana began to escape his body as he was honing in on his skill. It seemed that his strength and endurance had been amplified to greater heights He slowed his motions down, developing a different approach, a new stance, all his own. He, too, now became the patient predator. Like a preying mantis he paused, his scrutinizing eyes falling on his target, lying in wait until his opponent striked.
The goblin had unleashed a malicious assault, however, the stone monk was prepared as he activated his Iron Rhino Stance in tandem with his other skill that bolstered his defense, therefore mitigated the brunt of the damage.
Now, he drew his fist back and punched with all the fury of a hurricane as he damn near rendered the goblin immobilized.
Saskia walked over and inspected the body that Burai had curb stomped and knelt down watching it curl up and squirm.
She sniffed roughly, as her rugged expression embraced the foul stench from the beast.
“He who strikes first. Loses.” Saskia replied. “Some battles, that is not true. However, in battles with experienced people or AI , that holds true. Some fights are an information game. Each time you use a move, your opponent is learning something about you. As he second passes from then on, he is devising counter strikes against you. It’s like a game of cards. You keep telegraphing your movements by showing your cards before your opponent and he’s going to use it against you.”
Saskia replied as she casual spoke while driving her long spear into the body of the goblin, watching it dematerialize under his foot.
“Generally, because of the forward momentum an enemy has put forth once they have telegraphed their movements, it is much harder for them to change the course of direction for their attack. You can use that against him by hurling your own kinetic energy in a way that outmaneuvers your opponent. Yes, reaction speed is important, but however, with proper timing, you can shift the dilemma of reaction speed and flip it into your opponents hands and make it their problem. As I said before, it’s much harder for them to shift course from their initial direction.”
“Like....take for example...I am throwing a straight jab at you. You weave to my left.” She spoke as she enacted these actions.” It would be much harder for me to react in time. Also, I wouldn’t have the initial damage for the impact as I would have to slow my body down in order to turn my fist. However, in the time it takes me to react, you could have already weaved and ducked down, predicting my move and have thrown a haymaker to my ribcage.”
“It’s kind of like the same when they leap at you. Since they are in mid-air, it’s no chance of them really changing direction, so it is easily capable of turning the tide against them. Defense is nice, that was a great key element for you, however, I want you to focus on evasion. It is much better to negate all damage than to mitigate most damage. This is the law Monk’s live by.”

I've never had to knock on wood Burai lowered his thumb and reeled his arm back to his side, and casually slipped it into his pocket. He glanced over at Saskia and smiled. The upward crease in his lips faded the moment Saskia began to lecture him. He listened to her words carefully. She sounded like a less "Hip" version, of his coach. Burai's thoughts drifted away, and imagined what coach would say. His smirk return, "He would say, 'You gotta make your next move your best move! Use a Knight to take that rook!" He turned his attention back to Saskia, she drove her weapon through the goblin, and continued talking.
He sighed dejectedly and looked away from her. He just won his first battle, and there was no celebration? There was a lecture, if this was her idea of fun. She desperately need to get out more. Burai needed to enlighten her on the finer things in life. Toes in the sand, the moment of bliss after you guzzle down your favorite soda, or the feeling you get when you eat ice cream too fast. Saskia, was as fun as a tub of rocks. She did take time out of her day to train him, and her company wasn't that bad. He waited patiently for her to finish speaking.
"Master, you know I think I thought of a new nickname for you. 'Text Book!' Very old fashion, and thorough. It's not flashy, but it gets the job done. Am I right!?" He said with a big grin on his face. "I think I understand what you are saying. But doesn't that get boring?" He stopped grinning and rubbed his forehead where the goblin struck him.
He knew, he could've dodged, and avoided the attack all together. Perhaps, that is what every other monk, or player would've done. 'By the book,' it was the right thing to do. He couldn't fault anyone for playing it safe. But, he didn't agree with it. What about the thrill, the rush, the feeling of uncertainty when you go against the odds. Burai he took the axe to the face, and confident that he would catch the goblin off guard. He planned for it, and used it to his advantage. In chess it was a common thing to sacrifice a piece to take another later. "Master, I won't doubt your wisdom, but dodging would've taken more effort. And, I came up with a simpler solution. I will remember that pain, and pain is just weakness leaving the body" He shifted his hand and brought it to the back of his head. He chuckled lightly at his last comment. "I'll try to be more elusive when I fight. But, to be honest. I rather expose my weakness to an enemy, have them use it against me. That way, when I beat them, they will know they lost completely."
Burai wasn't going to be bound by any law, or common practice of his class. Sure, he had to be elusive. But he wouldn't let that define him. He would show Saskia, his way. Whether she approved or not. He had to be true to himself, and being tradition was boring. He didn't know how she would react to his feelings.

Saskia glanced at his hand as he casually placed it in his pockets. She could remember a common phrase she remembered that her militant father would talk about having to shout at the soldiers outside of the barracks.
“GET YOUR GODDAMN HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS!”
It was a nerve wracking thing for the aged staff sergeant in his company to see. The very essence of this was to make sure that his men were prepared at all times for anything. If a person was attacked when having their hands in their pockets, it would be a hassle to retrieve them while trying to react in a fight. Plus, due to the natural instinct to snatch your fists up to cover your face in a fight, their hands would most likely get caught inside their pockets, thus leaving them very vulnerable to attack.
“You know...my dad who was in the Army...he used to always tell his troops to keep their hands out of their pockets. Especially when out in the field. It’s actually pretty hazardous when there is a possibility you can get ambushed. “ Saskia suggested.
It seemed her rough tutelage would not be the laid back and ‘hip’ version that Burai had wanted. He sighed in a defeated posture as he looked away from her. She seemed to have been rumbling around in his thoughts, trying to find the words to say to express his feelings about everything that went on. It seemed that they were two opposite sides of a coin. Though Saskia was quite casual and social on normal terms, she seemed to be quite firm when it came to the matters of being a mentor.
She paused for a moment to give him time to announce whatever thoughts crossed his mind, and when he labeled her as a ‘Text Book’ she chuckled with a wide grin.
“Well, hey, everybody has got their own style, what works for one person doesn’t necassarily work for the other. It’s like Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do. Everybody’s got their own flavor. If you want to throw a little extra spice into the mix, then that’s your call. Just make sure to place your stats where you want them as you level up and spec for the build you desire. If you feel gimped at the end levels, then there are potions that allow you to change your setup. “ She added, reminding him of the saving grace of these potions.
“You can sacrifice as many pieces as you want, but you can also plan your moves three moves ahead. But if you’re going to be so tenacious, just make sure you save a pawn to get to the other side and claim your trump card when your opponent gets cocky. If that’s your style.”
Saskia began to understand that he wasn’t just simple clay to be molded. He was a free form fighter who was stubborn, yet determined to do things his own way. There was no doubt about it. He was the errant monk at heart.
“Alright, so we cleared out these two. I’m seeing three more up ahead. You think you can take them all on by yourself? You did good here. But let’s see how you fare under pressure.” Saskia smirked.

I've never had to knock on wood Saskia spoke to him briefly, sharing a story about her dad, who was in the military. Burai smirked as she shared her memory. Burai looked at her and spoke softly, "Your dad had the right idea. I can imagine how difficult it, would it be in such an environment. To be caught in an ambush while you have your hands in your pockets." He paused and looked down at his legs. "Those few seconds would feel like an eternity."
Burai began to get a sense, of where she stood figuratively speaking. If her father was in the military it would explain quite a few things. Doing things by the book, being very traditional and orderly. Slowly, pieces of the puzzle were coming together. But, if keeping his hands in his pockets would cause such turmoil. Good, he would keep them there, to cause some pandemonium.
He quietly listened to her, as she gave examples of those who possess their own unique fighting style. And gave him some advice about his stats. Honestly, he never gave his stats any thought. He didn't know which stat was best for him to invest into. He figured, he would learn about it later on down the road. He wasn't in a hurry to learn. As of right now, he would refer to Saskia's judgement and go from there.
He turned his attention further down. He swayed his neck from side to side, as he stared at the three goblins. Saskia, wanted to test him further? Burai said nothing and slowly began walking toward the goblins, after a few steps. He looked back at Saskia. "Sacrifice, is the one word I can write a book about." He was referring to his personal life, Thoughts of his mother prodded him. Countless nights, and mornings where he was to babysit her, bathe and feed her. And all the pain She caused him and his father. "Do me a favor, Text-book. Don't interfere." He gave her a reassuring smile before turning forward. He was going to show her his way of fighting. No guidelines, no rules. "Watch me, forge this new path."
Burai kept his hands in his pockets, each of them were clenched tightly. He slowly approached the goblins. His heart began racing, his nerves were on end. "I'll be taking this fight seriously." He didn't like to get serious, where was the fun in that? He was going to go all out for these three goblins.
Burai stopped a few feet from the goblins, he stood up straight, and greeted them with a head nod. "Goblins, I was hoping the three of you would be, as kind to let me beat you up. I'm trying to impress that lady back there." The three goblins glanced at each other, going back and forth from time to Burai. They all took a step forward and snarled. The first goblin had a one handed sword. The second had dual axes, and the third had a small club.
The goblin with the sword lunged forward at Burai, thrusting its sword forward toward Burai's lower abdomen. Burai lifted his right foot of the round slid it to his left. As he followed the motion with his torso, and turned to the side to avoid the attack. The goblin, however staggered pass him, after missing his mark.
Burai turned his back to the goblin, and addressed the other two. "What about you guys?" The other two charged forward together. Burai ran into the fray himself. "Lets get crazy!" He Goblin with the club gripped it tightly, and swung it fiercely at Burai; it brought the club closer to its left shoulder and swung to its right.
Burai dropped on his knees, and slid underneath the club; he tilted back, as if he was reclining in a chair, as he slid to avoid the club entirely. Once she slid pass, he rolled forward and got back to his feet. Before he could ready himself. The goblin with the axes, swiped at him viciously, with both of the axes. Burai took a step forward in between the goblin's attack, and headbutt the goblin. With his hands still in his pocket, he could punch the goblin. He wasn't in a great position to kick it either.
The goblin staggered back, and growled at Burai. "Don't be like that, you almost had me. For a second I thought I would-" The other two goblins surrounded him, the goblin withe the sword went to his left flank, while the other goblin went to his right. Burai thought about using [Iron Body] he didn't want to lose out on his agility.
He stood upright and glanced at each of his sides. He figured, the goblins were weak in comparison. He could easily fight one, but all three at once would be problematic. They're always strength in numbers. Burai sighed, as he came to that conclusion. "Very well, if you don't want to lead, allow me~" Burai lowered himself slightly, and dug the tip of his boots into the dirt. He extended his left leg forward and pressed it slightly on the ground.
With his right foot firmly in place. He exerted most of his weight on it, he pushed off it, and dashed at the goblin. Burai jumped in the middle of his dash and soared through the air. He position his left knee forward, and used it as a battering ram against the goblin's face. The force of his attack caused the goblin to stagger, as the goblin stepped back. Burai landed diligently and twirled around counter clockwise. At the end of his spin he whipped around his right leg and kicked the goblin's face. The force of the blow sent it staggering back
The other two Goblins rushed forward, each one approach from his flank. This would be a great moment to take his hands out of his pocket and fight back. "No." He refused to use his hands. He was going to keep them in his pockets, even if he died. The goblin with the one handed sword struck him first. Burai lifted his left knee up and blocked the attack. This left him utterly defenseless. The goblin came from behind and struck his spine with the club. Burai cringed as he felt his lower back hammered.
The goblin took a step back and readied itself for another swing. Burai brushed the sword to the side. Knocking the goblin off balance. As he lowered his left leg, he swiftly hopped up with his right foot. Kicking the goblin under the chin. He managed to create a little room, he turned his attention to the goblin with the dual axe.
The goblin gripped his axes tightly, and yet lout a loud screech. Burai stared at its HP bar. "I'll make this one count. He activated [Iron Body] and rushed forward, the goblin did the same. As, they approached the goblin swung the axe in his right hand at Burai's chest. Burai stepped forward into the swing. The crest of the blade struck his shoulder. Burai immediately sent his right knee into the Goblin's chest, as the goblin fell to his knees. Burai spun around on his left heel and kicked the goblin with his right foot. The goblin fell to the ground and went limp and dematerialized. Suddenly the other goblins came from behind, and struck Burai simultaneously. The joint attack sent him stumbling forward. He turned around, and stared the goblins down. After a moment he fell down to one knee. "This is intense, My body is on fire right now. I can't take them lightly." He looked over at Saskia, and remembered what she told him about his pockets. "Don't blink, Master. I'll win this without using my hands!"

Stubborn and reckless. That would have been the words that Saskia might have used to describe him on that first day of training in the forest. She knew his kind all too well and knew that it can’t be helped. He had his own way of doing things and nothing was ever going to make that change.
It seemed however that despite their differences, there was perhaps a slight hint of mutual respect between the two as he spoke on the words of her father. At first hearing of what the monk then said thereafter, it would seem as if he would now fully comprehend her logic and then go on to make a change to make his approach more safe, but that simply wasn’t the case! That headstrong crazy monk was going to try his damnedest to prove Sasia wrong, even if it killed him.
She wondered if the depth of his martial insanity was due to his confidence in his ability to reemerge in the cathedral if his dastardly plan should go awry. Was he really that bold and cocky in the real world? Was is true courage that coursed through his veins or pure idiocracy? This whole time he had been listening quietly, but could her words have fell on deaf ears? How could she test his resolve and conviction to find his own way?
Thoughts of these things played back through her mind on repeat as she nestled in the silence between the two adventurers. As she listened carefully, the man spoke of being bonded with the spirit of sacrifice. Had he become a hardened soul by the struggles he had to endure? Perhaps that’s why he admired the challenge of adversity so much - in fact - he relished in it.
She watched the man dismissively tell her to stand down while he kicked off this show his own way - literally.
The man unleashed a wild series of kicks and footwork that would put most karate fighters like jet li and jackie chan to shame. Though he had a few stumbles and moments where he caught himself in a touch situation, he would never relinquish that fierce tenacity that burned vibrantly in his soul. In a valiant effort to prove himself worthy, he marked out a path for himself by chaining together a series of skills to use against the goblin horde.
He staggered on occasion, and though there were times when he could have used his hands to protect himself, he did not. However this was greatly effective in improving his foot work and the art of blocking moves using superb strikes from his own legs to counter them.
As she watched the stunning display, a light smile adorned her cheeks as she enjoyed the fireworks of the magic of the man’s artwork in motion.
As the blows from the beasts began to take their toll on his body, she would squint her eyes at him carefully.
Had his bold spirit finally been exhausted? Was that cocky attitude finally snuffed out?
She looked at him, as she gazed at his sweaty face she could still see that spark of resilience in his eye. He wasn’t done yet. No not by a long shot.

Never back down from a Challenge Burai looked passed the goblin, and kept his eyes on Saskia. She was still in the same location, he found this amusing. He was surprised that she would actually listen to his request. Did she believe in him? The thought was pleasant, though he would never ask her that. Trust was something that was really fickle. Slow to gain, and easy to lose. But despite personal beliefs. He trusted her, she gave him no reason to doubt her. And, she had been teaching him the ropes. Strengthening his resolve, he slowly inhaled, slowly expanding his lungs, once his lungs were full. He held his breath. As he slowly counted to three before exhaling
He stood up straight and shook his legs, making sure everything was loose and nimble. "I hate to do this, but I can't get beaten up too badly. I believe she is patiently waiting." The goblin snarled in response, baring their fangs at him. He closed his eyes, "I won't be bound by rules and guidelines. It's my time to be free!" Burai opened his eyes feeling reassured. He dashed forward, after a few steps he leapt into the air and twirled around swiftly, as he spun around, he whipped his right leg forward and sent it crashing into the goblin with the club. The goblin's body took flight and tumbled a few feet. Burai landed roughly, he planted his feet on the ground firmly, so he wouldn't lose his footing.
The other goblin lunged forward. Burai planted his right foot into the ground, pivoting to the side. He swiftly tilted his body forward, gaining momentum, he lifted his left leg up thrusting it behind him, violently. His boot bellowed into the goblin's belly. The goblin grasped on to its stomach and fell down to one knee. He received his leg and planted it firmly on the ground. He turned around casually, and faced the goblin. He lifted his leg up over the goblin's head and held it steady for a moment. Burai brought his leg down; his heel came crashing down upon the goblin's head. It fell down to the ground, squealing. Feeling his MP draining. Burai couldn't waste too much time. He wanted to get in and get out. He finished his assault by stomping on the goblin's face and pushing it further into the ground. A loud screech came from behind. The other goblin charging, gripping its club with both hands. Burai groaned, the fight was beginning to lose its initial charm.
He stole a quick glance at the goblin. It was swinging at him; its hands coiled around the base of the club, as if it was holding the hilt of a katana. Burai thought about activating his other skill and just soak up the damage. But, he decided against it. As he thought about Saskia. "She would probably want me to dodge... Just this once..." He didn't want his master to feel like her teachings were going to waste. There wasn't a lot of room for him to maneuver. Burai tilted his face back and looked down at goblin before him. "This will be exciting."
Burai pushed his legs out from underneath him, and belly flopped on the goblin. While the other goblin's swing barely missed its mark. Burai barrel rolled to his right. The goblin with the club chased after Burai, flailing the club in the air. Burai deactivated [Iron Body], to give him more agile and continued to roll, trying to create some distance from his pursuer. The goblin periodically whacked at Burai, as it chased after him. Seeing how he wasn't getting very far. Burai began to roll back and forth in between the goblins swings. After a few rounds of 'wack, a mole.' The other goblin joined in and cornered Burai. The goblin stood at the base of Burais head. It gripped its sword tightly and drove it down, in an attempt to impale him.
Burai sat up, barely escaping. "That would be cutting it a little close. Definitely not the best way to get ahead... in life!" Burai couldn't resist making those terrible puns. Not amused, The other goblin swiped downward at Burai. He tried to scoot back, but it met resistance. The other goblin's sword. Things looked dire. In an act of desperation, he slid his left leg in between the goblin's legs and swiftly flung it up to its crotch. Burai took advantage of this opportune moment, and staggered to his feet.
The goblin who was behind Burai slowly picked up his blade. And, quickly slashed Burai's lower back. Burai winced in pain, looking at his HP. "Bout time, we finished this." Both of the goblins readied themselves. It was evident the three of them were feeling the effects of the battle. The two goblins lunged forward to catch Burai in a pincer attack. But, he leapt up vertically and swiftly extended his legs, kicking both of them in the face. He landed gracefully, he knelt down and did a leg sweep. His attack was aimed at the Goblin with the sword. The goblin was tripped, and fell on its butt. Burai followed the attack by stomping on its face. He forced the full weight of his body on the goblin's skull. The goblin dematerializes after the assault.
The goblin with the club lunged from Burai's right side. He turned to face the goblin, but didn't move. He wanted to end the fight with some of his Master's flare. He waited, the goblin violently swiped at Burai. As the club came crashing down, he leaned forward, and then weaved to his right slipping passed the goblin at the last moment. Burai stood behind the goblin, he lifted his right leg up and drove it into the goblin's spine. He collected his foot and stomped on the goblins back one more time. It dematerialized underneath his boot. Exhausted, Burai turned around regained his composure and walked over to Saskia, it looked as if a gentle breeze would knock him over. He staggered a few times, losing his balance. He needed to be strong. As he continued his approach, and once he reached her. He gave her a faint smile. "Saskia, I don't think your dad would like me very much, but how'd I do?"

Saskia watched patiently as she folded her arms over each other and held an intense stare as she continued to watch him fight for what he believed in. He seemed to be more perceptive in the flow of the fight. Calculating the enemy that telegraphed their attacks and manipulating their own movements against them, he motioned to outmaneuver them.
She noticed that his mouth never seemed to stop moving when he was in a fight. Some would possibly even say his ran probably ran faster than he did as he dodged the goblins attacks and skirted around their blows. However, he was proving that he was far more than all talk and no action.
She broke her bearing by smirking at his joke about heads being cut off and shook her head with a lighthearted chuckle. She was really desiring to figure out just what this Burai guy was made of.
With the final vicious crusade he reigned supreme over the goblin horde and had claimed victory not only for himself but for the dreams and ambitions he held deep within. Though she never spoke it aloud, not just yet, internally she applauded him for this. He marked his own path in the murkiness of the swamp.
As he came over with sweat dripping from his brow and a slight stagger in his step. He approached Saskia with a light smile and asked about his performance with a light joke. Saskia gazed at him for a brief moment, letting the wild series of events marinate in her mind before she formulated a proper response.
“You fight well on the outside, but sometimes I wonder can you conquer the internal struggle I see within yourself...”
Saskia spoke as she rose up and got up on the saddle of her horse, giving the man a firm look in the eye.
“All the adversity I’ve had all my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me....you may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you. "
“Come seek me when you desire more training...for now I will leave you with this.” Saskia said as she gripped the reins of her horse. She offered the man a friend request. After he chose to accept or decline it, she would bid him farewell and return to the Vylbrand Academy.
