The pink haired druid stood staring out towards the fields of colour that stretched as far as the eye could see. He had gotten a letter, it was very brief and mentioned a time, date and a location. He didn't even know why he was even standing here and as his heart beat against his chest like a caged animal, he wondered why he thought this might have been a good idea. When he first read the paper he had screamed in anger and tore it to shreds but as the day past and the more he thought about it, his mind changed. "Tadashi." His hands tightened as he said the name. It had been some time since they had last spoke in fact time that both had used to think. The two hadn't exactly left on the best terms in fact they had been quite happy together enjoying the possibilities of a new romance when all came crashing down around them. It had happened during the coconia lunar festival when they had run into a young foxtail adventurer named Jacoben. The druid and him had a brief encounter some time previous where they hadn't exactly got along and yet they hadn't exactly not got along either. However Tadashi seemed captivated by this young man, he seemed to lose all interest in the druid almost instantly much to Zyrune's dismay. And yet the pink haired druid hadn't gone out without a fight. Before running off stage in a fit of tears after an amazing performance, the druid had more or less acted like a spoiled brat doing everything he could to get the lander to look at him and yet everything he did only seemed to drive the man further into the foxtail's hands. "It's been a while," That voice just seemed to pull at the druid's skin and already he could feel his heart tug at his chest. He couldn't help but feel old feelings he thought he had lost, that he had struggled to push down since his rejection during the valentines day festival. "Zyrune." Stiffening at the name and the overwhelming nothingness he now felt in his stomach, he turned towards the man with a frustrated gaze. It was clear that the druid couldn't help but feel aggression towards Tadashi and who could blame him. Sure he had acted like a spoiled brat that day, but only because the lander had literally cast him away without a word of an explanation. It hurt the druid immensely and the entire thing was exceptionally frustrating for him. He had lost not only his first romance this fictional world became a reality but also a friend that he had grown to trust and value over the course of a day and a man. And what bugged the druid just as much was that Jacoben was entirely innocent, he hadn't encouraged the lander nor did he ask for it. Instead he had been his cute handsome self the entire time and that bugged Zyrune even more as he had acted like an ass and literally done things he would never had dreamed of under a normal circumstance. Luckily no one bar Jacoben, Tadashi and the monk Shuwen knew about his temper tantrum or that he had been cast off like a fruit past it's date. Still his name was his and the lander had no write to say it, not after what he did. It was bad enough that the lander had decided to stay in Londinium especically after he had made such a big deal about wanting to leave. Taking a deep breath, the druid let his facade envelope him, the one he had decided to face this world with since that night, the one that protected him from pain or so he hoped. However as he stood looking at the taller man his stomach lurched. The emptiness that he felt was swallowing him up and he desperately wanted to run, to leave the lander standing here and to just run, but he couldn't. At least not yet. No he needed to know why, he need to know why the lander had cast him aside so easily. Narrowing his eyes, Zyrune stared at the lander. "So how are you and Jacoben?" The druid spoke trying his best to say it with as little venom as possible. The lander shrugged softly and smiled. "Better than I could ever hope for." The druid winced, he couldn't help it but the words stung. Did he honestly just say that, did he honestly think that would help things? "Oh." Zyrune replied with a shrug hoping the lander hadn't noticed. He needed to sound unaffected and emotionless, he had to or the lander would have won. "We are dating now, since that night." Once more his heart sank and pain soared through his body. Swallowing hard, the druid shrugged once more trying his best to seem unaffected when in fact all he wanted to do was run and hide. Despite the pain that slapped the half-alv, he struggled on. That might explain why the lander had decided to stay. But they had gotten together that night, the same night the lander had destroyed the druid's heart, the night he had made Zyrune act like a complete fool. That wasn't fair, no one deserved that, even if Zyrune had acted like an idiot, he didn't deserve that. Swallowing hard tears, he breathed a shaky slow breath before trying his best to smile. "I am happy for you." His heart sank as he watched the lander's eyes widen as his words shocked him somewhat, however it was soon replaced by that casual smile the lander so easily wore. "Thank you, that means alot." The pink haired druid couldn't help but feel worthless and betrayed. Biting his lip he wanted to ask the man so many questions that swirled through his head and yet he restrained. He could feel the pools of tears beginning to fill his eyes but he tried his best to ignore them, to ignore the gut wrenching pain, trying his best to maintain that calm facade. "He is very cute, he does this thing with his ears that just makes me smile every time." The lander spoke after a few seconds of silence, his tone and smile appeared as if he was oblivious to how much each word cut through the druid. It was like he was intentionally adding salt to the wound he had cut. "How nice." Zyrune replied, it was sharp and cold. "Don't be a jerk." Tadashi just stood there his hands in his pockets as he spoke. "To think I was worried about you?" The druid's eyes shot upwards and caught the man's gaze. "I'm the jerk?" He spat backwards. "If you are happy why did you even send that letter?" The druid muttered, despite everything going on in his head the druid couldn't stop his feelings for the man, the fought for a place in his mind just as much as the anger and hurt did. The lander simply stood there with his eyes trained on the shorter adventurer. Narrowing his green eyes for a moment he shrugged and looked off into the distance. "Please don't do that." The druid was surprised at the sentence and the confusion could be seen on his face. "Do what?" Zyrune asked utterly confused. "Looking like a kicked puppy." The lander spoke with a frown. "H-how am I supposed to look?" The druid shot back scowling feeling even more hurt. What did the lander expect he would react like and what right had he to expect Zyrune to be okay with his ex lover standing before him telling how great his current one was. The lander smirked as he turned his eyes back on the druid. It hurt him to see the druid's facade wash away only to be replaced by hurt. "Do you hate me that much?" The lander's voice changed, it was clear how much the thought hurt him. "We are friends aren't we?" "What do you expect me to do?" The druid spat back. "Do you expect me to open up to you, to share my feelings with the guy you tossed me aside and broke my heart. To listen and care as he talks about how much his new relationship is better than the one he had with me was?" The druid was furious now however the lander had a look on his face, was it guilt? "It's complicated." Hurt filled the druid's eyes but he couldn't stop himself. "Then tell me why you tossed me aside so easily, why you didn't even give me a second glace as you tossed me aside to chase after him." Gulping the druid turned from the lander as tears welled up threatening to fall. "OI!!" The lander called but the druid ignore him refusing to turn around. The lander paused as he watched the druid struggle to maintain his facade. His eye brows furrowed a little as he stared towards the half-alv. Zyrune didn't understand any of this. Why did the lander think that this was okay, why did he think it was okay to call on the person whose heart he broke and tossed aside like it was nothing and then act as if nothing had happened and they were still best buddies. Why did the lander bother to contact him at all, he hadn't done anything, he hadn't even breath a word of it to anyone. No the druid had kept his head down. He had buried himself into his craft, early mornings and late nights spent sewing tear drenched fabric together trying to distract him, trying to bury his feelings. "OI ZYURNE!" Why couldn't he just leave. Closing his eyes, he just wanted to be left alone. He could have avoided this, he could have no come, he could have torn that letter apart and just ignored Tadashi's invitation, he might have been better off that way. A hand on his shoulder broke the druid's thoughts and he gasped. Shrugging in an effort to free himself of the hand, he grunted as it tightened, he struggled as a second tried to turn him around. The hands gripped him tightly and in a moment the druid had been turned to face the lander, his large green eyes just gazed at him. Gulping the druid heaved, sobs racked his body as the lander's strong arms pulled him against his broad chest. The man's familiar smell brought the druid some comfort as old feelings he desperately tried to bury came rushing up. The man's body was warm and strong and it held him tight. His mind swarmed with questions and his heart raced against his chest. Pressed again him, the druid found his head lifted only to gaze into those all too familiar green eyes once more. As tears rolled over his cheeks, the man lowered his head until his breath could be felt on his lips. "Damn you." The lander whispered before his lips dived hungrily seeking the druids. The half alv's eyes widened in shock for a moment before he began to struggle for a moment but the lander held him tight as his tongue invaded the druid's mouth. The broke for a moment and the druid gasped for air as he looked at the man with a look of pure confusion on his face. The lander panted as he took in the sight below. Inhaling the druid's scent once more, he sighed. Tadashi knew it was wrong, but damn it he needed this, he needed him. Inhaling once more, the lander attacked the druid's mouth once more. All the feelings that he had felt for the pink haired man came rushing out and yet it confused him. He didn't understand this at all and yet he knew he needed the druid. As the broke once more, the pink haired druid buried his head in the man's chest just like Jacoben had that first night. Seeing Zyrune act like a spoiled brat had only turned the lander off so quickly and yet seeing how vulnerable and hurt he was did the opposite. As he clutched the healer's body close to his own, he thought of the foxtail. He love him, he wanted Jacoben more than anything he had wanted before and yet here he was holding Zyrune against him as if his life depended on it. When he first say the foxtail he understood love at first sight and yet the druid invoked something in him that he just didn't know how to explain. He didn't want to give either of them up, he couldn't. He just needed to think. |
