[attr="class","pictureA"] LaviniaLevel 43: Enchanter Level 1: Scribe Level 11: Scholar Note: ... Tag: ... "Quill pen: assembly required, warranty void if used by Buttmunches, batteries not included" Lavinia reads off the box of her new pen. "Wait what? Buttmunches? And why does this thing need batteries and where do they even go?" she didn't know, no one probably knew. The only people who knew were the propriety owned of Saber soda, which is sugar free and this pen is not.
Opening the box and dumping the contents of it onto the table in front of her Lavinia sighs.
"Why can't these things come already assembled..."
Taking the main body of the pen, the part with the feather attached, Lavinia inspects it. She's looking for a place to put batteries, after a moment of searching she gives up with a sigh and sorts through the pile of parts for the refilling assembly. This little lever when pulled will pull ink into the refillable cartage inside, allowing it to be refilled. The kit even comes with ink, but not batteries, did they not add the battery cover too or maybe forgot to include one screw? Guess we'll find out...
The refill bits slide and then snap into place easily which is nice, these kits can sometimes be a pain to assemble.
Next the refillable cartage itself, this piece slides right up inside the main feathery piece. Lavinia does just that as per the instructions. Oh, did we mention they aren't even in English? Lavinia is just going off the poorly drawn pictures, poor girl.
Next, the tip, the part that you right with on paper, obviously... The instructions show that this bit should just slide into place, but it has threads. So then it should screw in like any other pen. That is how it does manage to fit into the whole thing.
The final step, fill the cartage inside. Taking the ink Lavinia pops the caps off both and carefully fills the pen with the first bottle of ink. The second bottle will be saved for later when it needs a refill. Luckily for everyone involved Lavinia didn't spill any of the ink during this assembly mission. If she did, she would have to dye her robes black, because this ink won't come out. Wait , why is it black ink? Can't it be blue instead? Well black is a more standard color, but blue is more of a stand out catch your attachment color. How about green then? Well, green is more of a unprofessional and really just isn't the standard for ink color. Perhaps you could use green ink when you infuse it the earth or wind elements. Like the color signifies the elemental properties of the spell the ink is infusing. Could be a neat idea, when you attack with a Intermediary Grimiore it could infuse the attack with the wind or earth element or just more simply change the color of the attack for aesthetic purposes, yeah not such a bad idea at all. Blue would also be a nifty color to do that with, or maybe combined them so they make teal. Made by Sileas; with help from Neun, Kyou, Saber, Saki, and Oxford. Today our lovely scribe Lavinia wanted to make something new, something simple, a notebook. But doesn't she already have one you ask, well yes, but a new one. The old one she bought from an lander some time ago is worn from exposer and use and is almost full. Lavinia still intended to keep it, since the information within will still be useful but it was time for a new one. Lavinia thought long and hard about what style of notebook she wanted. Hard or soft back, how many pages, the size of the pages, there was a lot of thought that goes into making one of these more than Lavinia originally thought. She eventually decided on a light blue hard cover, one hundred pages and about the size of a high school text book. She also had to decide how she wanted to bind the pages together and then bind that to the cover. Making books is complicated and must have been hella expensive back before they had machines to do all the work for you. Dumping a small pile of materials out of her bag Lavinia sits down and gets to work. Carefully she takes a needle and sows the pages to a small piece of wood with a thick piece of string. The piece of wood is used to reenforce the spine and allows the book to sit flat, making for the better writing book method of book binding. After the very tedious and lengthy stitching process Lavinia is happy with her work so far. Although enjoyable and relaxing for now, this stitching portion of this crafting process could easily become the new mixing portion and we all know how Lavinia loves mixing potions by hand. The last step that requires physical action is next. Taking the cover, Lavinia lays it out flat on the desk and takes a small can of glue. Carefully spreading the glue over the middle of the inside bit of the cover Lavinia takes the paper binding she made earlier and carefully but firmly presses it against the glue covered surface. Lavinia didn't know it at the time, but this simple notebook recipe would be a key part of a future item she creates. Really any Grimoire created follows this same method, but this new idea will be her creation. Word Count: 388 Tag: Notes:

Hello everyone! On this weeks episode of Paper cut our host Lavinia is going to show us all how to craft the exquisite Sorcerer's Quill! This wondrous piece of Scribe equipment is imbued with magical properties allowing for even more amazing feats of manuscription by Scribes every where! Stay tuned, after this commercial break our host will show you step by step how to craft this wonderful item. "Hello everyone and thanks for tuning in for the second episode of Paper Cut. The show where I show you how to create an item as a Scribe every week. Last week I showed you how to create a quill pen, this week well use that very same item and create a better quill, the Sorcerer's Quill."The screen fades and Lavinia is seen sitting at a desk with a quill pen box, an assembled quill pen, and a fee mana fragments sitting in front of her. "First we need to assemble our quill pen. You can learn to do this yourself or watch last weeks episode for a step by step walk though on how to assemble it. I assembled this one before hand and will use this to craft my new quill. Let's discuss materials, you'll need two items, the quill pen, sold by many lander's and shops that sell basic crafting supplies. Then you'll also need a mana fragment, roughly eight to ten centimeters in diameter. Any smaller and the enchantment won't be strong enough for your needs, to large and the energy could be to much for the materials to handle and it'll explode. So, you take the two materialsI just mentioned, hold them in your hands and focus on them. If done correctly, the mana fragment will disappear in your hands and the energy will flow into the quill. Okay, let's see how it's done."Picking up both items, Lavinia holds one in each hand and closes her eyes. Breathing slowly and after a couple seconds her hands begin to glow and then the glow fades just as quickly as it came. Opening her eyes once again, Lavinia holds open her hand and shows it's empty. She then holds up the former white but now red quill and then sets it in front of her. "And there you have it. Simple right? Anyway, that's all for today, tune in next week when I show you how to make your very own notebook! See ya later!"The screen fades as the shows credits roll across the screen, then the same narrators voice from before chins in. Please stay tuned for your chance to purchase your very own Sorcerer's Quill, hand crafted by Lavinia herself for only six payments of twenty gold. Standard shipping fees apply, purchases are limited to two per household, batteries and ink not included. This is when Lavinia wakes from her slumber with a start. Sitting up the enchantress runs her eyes sleepily, trying to figure out what's real and what's not. "What a crazy dream..." Laying back down Lavinia pulls her covers back up over her as she stares at the ceiling of her room. "What a messed up dream... I'll never do that for a living, not on television." Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of Paper Cut! Staring our host Lavinia! On today's episode our scribe will show the world how to make one of the fundamental items of the scribe profession, Parchment paper. This simple yet important form of medium has been around for longer than books and is key to making paper media of any durability. Stay tuned, soon our host will begin the step by step process on how to craft this historic piece of medium yourself in your own home. "Hello everyone and thank you for tuning in for episode four of Paper Cut. On this weeks episode I'm going to show you how to make Parchment Paper, the tough, water resistant paper medium most low to medium quality Grimoires are made from."The screen fades and Lavinia is seen this time standing in front of the desk instead of sitting. There is are two small boxs and a small stack of papers sitting on the desk in front of her. "First, you'll need two small containers that can store liquids, a metal screen, a mold and press for the size of your Parchment and some regular sheets of paper. The first container should hold cold water, the second should be filled with a weak acidic liquid. To make the parchment is rather simple all it is, broken down pieces of paper that is pressed to form a thicker sheet of paper. So first you take your metal screen like this one, place at least 3 to 4 sheets of regular paper on it and let it soak in the acid for several minutes. You may wish to remove and resubmerge the paper several times to help speed up the process. After a bit you'll have a pulp mixture in the acid. This is where the screen comes in, pull the pulp out with the screen and dunk it in the cold water once. Then place it into the mold and use the press to to squeeze the fibers together. It's normal to get some liquid being squeezed out from the pulp. After a minute of pressing all you have to do is let the parchment dry. And there you have it, one piece of Parchment!"Following her own instructions Lavinia creates the paper as she explains the process. Dipping the paper in the acid over and over until it breaks apart into smaller pieces. Then just as she said she takes them out with the screen and quickly dunks the pulp into the water then places it all into the press. Setting the screen aside, Lavinia pulls the lever and the press, presses the pulp together and compresses it. After about a minute she released the lever and carefully takes the still damp parchment from the mold and places it on a drying rack beside her. "Simple right? Tune in next week where I'll show you all how to make Magic Ink. See you then!"The screen fades, the credits roll by and the narrator tries to sell the audience the parchment Lavinia made on today's episode for only four payments of twenty gold. It's the usual spiel after the end of every show. This is when Lavinia wakes up with a start, rubbing her eyes as she looks around the room realizing it was all just a dream. "Again, really?" she sighs and lays back down and gets comfy. "No, not going to happen. Ever." Word Count: 574 Tag: Notes:
