Mire leaned onto the wooden bar of the stall he was selling drinks at. He had agreed to selling beverages for part of the night. It had been decently productive at his stall. A lot of people have come to grab something to allow themselves to be satisfied as they continued with the festivities.
Mire looked at his interface for a second and saw the clock that rested there. His shift wasn’t close to being done, but the way the shifts were organized, another person who was a brewer would come soon and they would both work together for a little while before Mire would be let off. There was about 15 minutes before they were supposed to be there though so Mire wasn’t too worried. A few more people came up to his stand. He gave them their drinks and then took the requested amount of gold.
After about 10 minutes, Mire got a call from the person that was supposed to take the next shift. Mire answered and told the brewer directions to the stall like he had called to ask for. Mire appreciated the man coming earlier then he needed to. When the second person arrived, Alitor was his name, Mire asked him a few questions about the festival.
“So what all is out there?” Mire asked Alitor. “There are a lot of small games. Some shooting ranges that provide a crossbow for you to use, one of those horse races that moves across a wall, and a lot of others.” Mire nodded and noticed the attire his partner was wearing. ”So, you must have visited quite a few places.” Mire said as he noticed the party hat on his head, the confetti strewn over his body, and the beads around his neck. Alitor commented back with, “Yeah and it’s been fun. I feel sorry for you taking the first shift. You haven’t been able to experience any of it yet.” Mire waved the fact off with his hand and replied. “Somebody had to do it, and since I took it now I won’t have to worry about the rest of the night.”
Alitor settled himself in and they distributed drinks to a few more people that passed by. After a little while, Mire looked at his clock again and saw that it was almost the end of his shift. “Well, almost time for my shift to be over.” He said so out loud just to prepare Alitor for his leaving.

"Miss~!" Nala giggled as her brother, Ragas, missed at the shooting range. Back where they had originally came from before being teleported or placed, or whatever in this new world, he had been an amazing archer, practicing almost every day. Without being a rogue or having a good affinity with bows, however, he was just as bad as the next guy. Laughing more when he missed the target board entirely, she held out a stick of cotton candy for her, "Here, why don't you take a break?" While he did grumble about it, Ragas was pacified by her telling him how good of an archer he actually was. A little stroke to their egos tended to placate her brothers at least half of the time. Taking the cotton candy, he looked around the crowded area for the next game they would be playing.
While most of the time, there was always someone around to watch over her, Nala's brothers unanimously agreed that she would be perfectly safe during the event. She was indeed all grown up and didn't require their constant supervision. Of course, she knew that this was all temporary. As soon as the event was over, they would be just as protective of her as any other day, maybe even more so if she got hurt. Nudging Ragas's arm, she pointed off toward some of the different stalls. "Hey, I'm all out of snacks for you black holes and thirsty, I'll be back in a bit okie?" Nodding in acknowledgement, Ragas didn't really seem to be paying attention to her, his eye caught by a dancing dragon and a couple pretty girls.
Giggling lightly, Nala hurried off toward the booths, skipping a little on her way. She was loving the Chinese New Year, not just because her family was having fun, but because she genuinely was as well.
Coming up to one that seemed to have two instead of one people standing guard over the booth, she slowed her skipping to a more normal walk. Seeming to grow more shy as she got closer, the Fox Tail held her hands in front of her and nodded politely to the two, one of them looked a little anxious for something, but perhaps it was just her imagination? Giving the pair a soft smile, she looked over their booth, "Happy Chinese New Years. Would it be alright if I got a drink? Non alcoholic?"

Mire and Alitor served a few more people before Mire’s shift was over. As the time drew closer, Mire began to become anxious about what he might do as he went around the festival. As his time came to an end, another customer appeared. “Oh, haven’t seen you in a while.”
Mire recognized the new person due to being someone who visited his pub with another group of players. “Hello Nala, where have you and your brothers been lately?” Directly after asking the question, he turned to Alitor and said, “I’m punching out now, have a good night.”
Mire grabbed a cup from under the bar and stuck it in the chest of snow, being sure to fill it up mostly all the way. He brought the cup around to Nala and handed it to her. “This won’t cost anything because it is basically just a cup of ice. Now how about we go and enjoy this festival?”
Mire walked around the stalls with Nala. He looked at his clock and saw it was 1:45. The celebration had only been going on for an hour and 45 minutes and there was so much going on. Mire looked around and Saw many people testing their luck and skill at various games, people just standing around and talking while eating items attached to sticks, there were even people in Chinese dragon costumes going around.
Dragon costumes eh? People really are excited about this festival, dressing themselves up as Chinese dragons. It might be fun to go check one of them out.
Mire starting to ask a few questions to Nala to start some conversation. “So what have you done so far in the festival? How are your adventures in the world going? Notice anything cool recently?” Mire continued to question the dragon costumes until he couldn’t stand it much longer. “We should go and check out those dragon people. I don’t know what it is but….” He paused for a moment before speaking again, “I just want to check it out. Come on.” Mire led Nala over to a close dragon by a food stand.

For a little while, Nala was left to stare at the Wolf Hair until she was suddenly struck over the head with a light bulb, "Mire!" She could barely remember the last time she had come across the black haired man, so much had happened between then and now. Scolding herself for not recognizing him sooner, she leaned over the counter slightly when he turned away toward some sort of box. "To the forest, swamp, a mine, all sorts of places. They like to explore and I've been doing a little bit of my own!" It was kind of funny how she felt more at ease with Mire than most; he was easy to get along with, making her less nervous around him.
Taking the offered cup of ice, she grinned at what was basically a flavorless snow cone. Not that she minded, in winter she would usually munch a little snow when she was thirsty- unless of course it wasn't white, yuck. "Thank you! And I was planning on doing just that, Ragas seems to have ditched me for a couple girls~" Brothers, go figure. Any other time she would have gone out to search for her brother since she didn't really like being in crowded areas alone -or at all for the that matter- but she had someone to keep her company now so it was fine. More than fine, wandering around the different stalls, Nala was having a grand time. She cheered on the people who were testing their mettle in some of the games, watching them have just as much fun when they lost as when they won. Seeing everyone in such high spirits for the holiday was a nice refresher after figuring out they were trapped here for who knew how long.
Going around, she tried to answer Mire's questions, "O-Oh, um well I-" She didn't seem to get very far into it though, as his attention quickly shifted to something else. Something reptilian. "But, er, kay!" Although she was hesitant about going up to some random person, Nala let herself be dragged along by Mire to greet them, partially distracted by some of the food that was being served at the stall.
Her cheeks warming slightly as then went to confront the person, she hid partially behind Mire when they got close. By the looks of it, the costume wearer was female, about Nala's height too. She could see the bottom half of the girl's face under the dragon head, but her nose and eyes were hidden. Hopefully Mire wasn't going to run off to play with the dragons and girls like Ragas had. "I-I wonder how they even get those costumes on.. It looks so complicated." Though it did seem complicated, a part of wanted to try one on just for the fun of it. "Where do you think they get them?"

Mire studied the dragon suit on the female player. The girl herself was juggling a few small rocks, and seemed to be concentrating very intently. He heard Nala’s comment on the difficulty of putting the attire on and replied with, “I am pretty sure you can equip it like any other set of clothing, just select it in your inventory and it will appear on your body. As for where to get them, the best way to find out is to ask those wearing the costumes.”
Mire stood in front of the juggler and admired her skill with tossing and catching the objects. After a few seconds of such, he decided to finally say something.
“Excuse me,” he said and then waited for a little bit. As she continued and gave no indication of hearing him, he said it again, but a little louder. She jumped in her place, dropped the rocks, and looked immediately to Mire. After studying him for a little bit, the bottom half of her face that could be seen turned red and she charged towards Mire and raised her fist. Before he could react, she punched him in the nose.
“Why did you bother me while I was in the middle of performing?” She yelled at Mire as he bent over and put his hand over his nose, trying to get rid of the pain. Trying his best to react through the pain, but with his hand over his mouth and nose, Mire replied with, “I just wanted to know where you got the costume. My friend and I would like to wear ones like it.”
The dragon girl eased up a little after Mire explained himself, but didn’t let go of her irritation at his interruption. “You will have to ask the costumes manager that. Her name is Clareth, she is a little taller than me, has green hair, and will look really panicked and worried because of this festival. Tell her Maya sent you, she might be a little more lenient then.”
Mire suddenly got over his pain and thanked Maya. “And sorry for disturbing you.” He quickly waved, took Nala’s hand, and pulled her a little ways away. “So, you heard all of that, do you want to go get the costumes or would you rather just enjoy the festival?” Mire asked Nala.

She had to admit, Mire's logic did make sense, and it made putting on the costume sound pretty darn easy. Only growing in her excitement, she hopped up and down on the balls of her feet while the Wolf-Hair tried to get the dragon-lady's attention. Letting him do his own thing, she tried to picture what sort of dragon she wanted to be. Something fierce, for sure! With big teeth, spines, bat wings, and long claws! And purple, she definitely wanted to be a purple dragon. Smiling to herself as she pictured herself dressed up as a fierce beast rather than the short little fox she really was, Nala nearly forgot about Mire and the juggler in her daydreams. Then again, a punch to the face is enough to make anyone nearby come to attention rather quickly.
There weren't too many things that could surprise her, but the sudden flare of anger the dragon-lady displayed at having her balls drop was one of them. Yelping, she hurried next to Mire where he stood hunched over, hand covering his nose. Fluttering her hands fretfully, she tried to lean over enough to make sure he was alright without forcing him to look at her. Despite getting a knuckle sandwich to the face, Mire stayed true to finding out where they could get a couple of costumes for the festival. He actually got some success to, the name of the woman who managed the costumes, along with a name of recommendation that might hold some weight to them actually being allowed to borrow them.
Still worried about that fist to face contact Mire received, Nala took a moment to examine any damage done to him. Could people even get broken noses in wherever they had ended up? She hadn't seen anyone going around in a wheelchair or crutches after fighting yet, so it wasn't likely, but still, she worried. Holding onto his hand a bit tightly, she nodded to his question, "I did, and I would love to go get the costumes still! Are you alright though?? That juggler really looked like she socked it to you?" Now more than ever she wanted to get those costumes after all that trouble he had just gone through to find out how to get a hold of the things!

Mire let Nala inspect his face for any bruises, even though he was sure it was impossible to get bruises in the game. Severed limbs, he had seen before, but scars, bruises, and broken bones didn’t seem to be an option. Even when arms and legs were cut off, they regenerated on the person’s body after a few minutes, due to being a status debuff only.
Mire started thinking about how a severed arm would affect his class. He was like any average Swashbuckler, a dual wielder who was dependent on a lot of attacks in a little time to be able to do any sizeable amount of damage. If one of his arms were to be severed, and he still somehow had the will to stay in the fight, his damage per second would also be halved, which, with an already low damage output, would be a laughable matter. After pondering the predicament that would ensue for a few seconds, he shook his head and came back to the festival.
Nala was inspecting his face still. Mire also noticed the force on his hand. He looked down quickly to see that the fox-tail was clenching it. He had grabber her hand just to lead her away from the crowd, but to him, it seemed that she was not against allowing him to continue to hold it for a while.
Mire thought about the actions taken that led to this interaction between Nala and himself. He had painfully gotten information that would lead them on a hunt to find someone who was in control of the costume distribution for this festival. After receiving the information, Mire decided to move away from the area in order to gather his senses and ask Nala her opinion on the situation. Mire didn’t think about the possibility of asking Nala if she would have wanted to move away quickly in order to discuss the next action, he just grabbed onto her hand and forced her to follow him. Using the word “forced” might be a bit of an overstatement, because Nala did seem to follow him fairly easily, but it is what happened in a sense.
So, here they were, standing not too far from the performer who had assaulted Mire, hand in hand. Nala was doing what must have been first instinct to make sure Mire wasn’t wounded. Mire was sure that any onlooker might have assumed the two were a couple, if they worried about the two at all with all of the games and toys and food to be had in this festival.
Mire heard Nala’s response on what she would like to happen and nodded. “Well then, we best start looking for Clareth, although we have no idea where she might be in this whole place. Also,” Mire gave a slight cough and nodded to his hand, “what do you want to do about that?”

"About this?" Not exactly sure what 'this' was, Nala looked down at the hand she was still holding onto a bit tightly. 'Oh, that this'. Mulling it over for just a second, she smiled up at Mire, holding up the hand for him to see as if he totally wasn't aware of its presence or anything. "Well, I'd like to keep it of course! As for Clareth, weeeeell, we'll find her, don't worry~" Happy as a clam, she turned back to look over the crowd. Well, more like look around or through the crowd since she was too short to actually look over most people. "Hm, gotta start somewhere."
Nala let her grip loosen if he didn't agree to her going ahead and leading them around together. She would have totally started skipping through the crowd if she though Mire would join in or keep up with her excitement level. There was all this excess energy she was feeling from all the festivities alone, it was hilarious. Looking around with big blue eyes at all the colors, lanterns, and games, she realized that they didn't exactly know what this Clareth woman looked like. "Do you think she'll be wearing a dragon costume too?" She half-wondered aloud. In Nala's mind, the dragon keeper wouldn't have a costume, but be a sight to see anyway. Maybe with fiery red hair, piercing eyes, maybe she'd even wear some sort of fancy hat with a large feather to top it all off!
Wandering close to a dunk tank, she paused for a minute to watch a couple people try their luck at hitting their target, but the wolf-hair sitting over the water didn't budge, instead laughing his head off and taunting the players to try again. Grinning widely, she went on her way to flee the scene before he could turn his attention to them and try to get them to play. Walking between booths, she passed along a shoot range, a lucky duck pool, and, her personal favorite, the milk bottles. She was tempted to stop and try to throw the ball to knock the milk bottles down, but she had to stay strong! The Dragon master wasn't going to find herself!
Coming close to a large tent, she peaked through the double flaps to see various creatures inside either performing tricks, or being petted. Not exactly what they were looking for but adorable none-the-less. Dragging Mire onward, it wasn't until they had gone past the tent a ways that she looked back and actually saw a rack of costumes next to it, a woman standing guard over them who was most-likely the allusive Clareth. "Found her!" Turning quickly, hopefully not giving Mire any sort of whiplash, she hurried over where the lady stood guard.

I like pie.
Mire didn’t know why his thoughts suddenly drifted to that of delicious pastries. He just seemed to have drifted off no reason. The last thing he remembered was Nala saying that she wanted to keep his hand. He guessed that was a good thing, and decided to allow their fingers to remained interlocked after he felt her grip loosen.
With how Nala was moving around the festival, obviously concentrating extremely hard on finding the costumes manager, Mire didn’t have to do much thinking. He just let her lead the way.
His brain kept drifting in and out between pie, the dessert of dreams, and the activities at the festival. He remembered a dunk tank with a cocky wolf-hair that got dunked after they had passed him. Also he remembered the duck pool. He was usually pretty lucky with those. He made a note to return to it after they got the costumes.
Mire finally completely woke up after the sudden change of direction that jolted his whole body. He looked around, dazed and confused about where Nala and he were standing. He looked around to see the various caged animals and then remembered what was happening when he saw the rack of costumes.
Mire noticed the other played standing in front of the rack, but didn’t believe she was Calreth. Her appearance didn’t seem to fit the description given by Maya. She was facing the rack, staring the costumes down intensely.
She had long, bright, red hair. She was a little shorter than Mire, and had a very full body. Mire gently poked her shoulder and began speaking. “Hello?”
The girl turned around and smiled at Mire. “Hi, sorry, I was just waiting here. Do you need one of these costumes?” she said.
“Yes, err. Yes and no. We don’t need them, but we would like a couple.” Mire said as he pointed to Nala. “You wouldn’t happen to be Clareth would you?”
The girl seemed to go sour the second she noticed Nala, but she continued to speak to Mire. “No, I am not Clareth. I am actually waiting for her, I want to try one of the dragon costumes on as well. My name is Amanda.”
“Oh, well, we will wait with you. It will be good to have some company.” Mire went to the other side of the rack and looked at the costumes.
These look pretty cool, I wonder what they feel like. Mire thought to himself.
He reached his hand out, and the second it touched the fabric, it entered his inventory. He was completely surprised. Amanda noticed the fragment disappear. “What did you do?” She shouted to him.
“I don’t know! I just touched it and it went into my inventory! I think I just accidentally stole it!” Mire didn’t know what to do, but he knew he had to do something. It would take too long to search through his inventory to place it back, so he decided on something else.
“Nala! Quick! Touch one of these costumes!” He decided to get Nala to steal one as well and they would just wear them around the festival anyways.

So, about a year ago I was swimming in a pool right? Well, in this pool, there was this inflatabel shark thing you could ride on top of and stuff like that. You've probably seen something like it. Anyways, I got onto it and after sitting on it for about ten seconds, it popped underneath me. Ever since then I have been a vegetarian.

Sadly, the girl that they had wandered up to wasn't the dragon costume master they were searching for, but on the up side, the girl here was looking to borrow one of the sets as well. "It's nice to meet you Amanda!" Nala started up a little bit of small talk with the other girl about the festival and what sorts of things they had come across so far. She didn't even notice Mire leave her side to go check out the costumes. Their conversation dropped off when the girl's attention turned toward Mire, her suddenly shouting about one of the costumes or something. Not having seen it herself, Nala just remained confused as she looked to the two who were starting to freak the freak out now.
Still confused on what exactly had been stolen into inventories or otherwise misplaced, Nala was having enough trouble trying to keep up before Mire turned to her to tell her to touch one of the costumes. "Wha- um, o-okay??" Hesitant, she went up to the costumes, pausing to look at them suspiciously before she reached out to touch the fabric, yelping when it disappeared all of a sudden to reappear in her inventory... bound to her now! "Ah, what!? J-Jaque, what did you make me do!?!?" Technically it was her own fault, but she felt the need to say that. Flailing her arms, Nala reached in to try and bring the costume out and put it back, but the only thing it asked was if she wanted to destroy the item.
Looking at the yes or no options with big blue eyes, the Fox-Tail almost looked on the verge of tears as she clicked no. Still having the costume out, she stared at it for a second until couldn't take it anymore, putting it back. Turning to face Mire, she gave him the saddest of puppy dog eyes before bursting into tears at the dilemma, "I STOLE A COSTUME!!" ...Yeah, running would probably be a very good idea now.
