After Dumah had assigned each of them a task, Haseo noticed a quick change in Katarina. As he focused on the approaching boars, he dismissed the thought as a mere state of panic. After the others began to attack, Haseo noticed that the only one knowledgeable with fighting out of all of them was Dumah. The only experience he had himself with sword fighting was in-game. After confirming that the others would be able to withstand the oncoming boars, Haseo dashed towards his own assigned target, raising his sword to strike. He weaved beside the boar, spinning in such a way that the boar would attack and miss him, and as the boar was beside him, he faced it in mid-spin. He completed his spin, and as the boar was where Haseo was standing prior to the battle, Haseo was similarly in the position the boar was in moments ago. This was a tactic Haseo used to force his opponent to reanalyze the situation, while he had already assessed the position if he would be in it over the period of the battle, especially since he knew he would perform the attack. The boar seemed to visibly attempt to figure out it’s position, to recalculate it’s enemies position to reestablish it’s attack pattern. Such a lifelike thing to do for such an unreal creature. Haseo’s own attacks would look laughable in real life, but in a gamer perspective, he had a reasonable stance and attack style. Just as Haseo began to realize how real this world was, as it was now his reality, the boar began to charge. As the boar charged again, Haseo back-flipped over it, spinning mid-air to strike the boar from behind. Though a flashy maneuver in his arsenal, it was still only a normal attack, usually only useful on unsuspecting enemies. Hopefully the boar wouldn’t be able to predict if he would use the same maneuver. In the midst of it’s second calculation, Haseo unleashed several hits on the boar, doing about two hits a second and totaling at about 10 hits after each one landed with his two blades, which was all he could afford to deal by the time the boar recovered. They were fast strikes, but they weren’t too strong, but it should be enough to lower the boar to half i- Haseo breathed sharply through his nose when he realized he only did 19% damage. He shifted his gaze to his level, then realized that he was weaker than he thought. He gazed at Katarina, considering how bored she must be. That, or she could be panicking, which was usually the case with those in her position, as she was responsible for their lives now. Either way, he decided it would be best if she never had enough time to think about it. If a fighter has time, then they think. If they think, they doubt. If they doubt, it is at the cost of their life, including their allies’ lives as-well. Haseo allowed the boar to land a strike on him, and without a word, kicked it away, looking to Katarina for assistance. He smiled in order to give her the courage she needed in order to successfully assist them.

Dumah shot quick, rapid glances around the battle to check on the state of his allies. They had all been sticking to the plan Dumah had proposed, but with varying results. While Dumah and Haseo were having little to no trouble dealing with their assigned targets, Kuro seemed to be finding it rather troublesome to hit his enemy. He was running out of ammo, and managed to deliver a critical strike to the animal's neck. It was clear he was upset at his difficulties with the combat, as he began shouting angrily at his shortcoming. Dumah thought quickly in a manner similar to a computer playing chess. Dumah plotted out the current situation, simulated several possibilities, and contemplated the results of each. After a few moments, he stopped slashing at the boar attacking him and he tapped at the air in front of him, opening a menu. Able to keep an eye on the enemy by watching it through the menu, Dumah tapped a few more times as he opened his skills menu and activated a skill, pulling a pebble out of his pocket and throwing it high into the air. The boars all were distracted by the sudden flash of light, giving the party several seconds of freedom thanks to Dumah's Flush Draw skill. Dumah tapped his menu some more, activating yet another skill. As he tapped the icon for his skill in the menu invisible to all others but him, his dagger floated out of the small leather sheath on his right hip, as if being controlled by some type of magic. "Go help Kuro," Dumah commanded the small blade. In response to his command, the dagger - under the command of Dumah's Ante Up skill - went to Kuro. "Kuro, you may use my dagger if you like. It would seem that you have no other weapons but your crossbow, so if you would prefer to fire upon the enemy from a distance, my dagger can attack the enemy on its own. The choice is yours." After giving this explanation, the blinding light from the pebble from before faded, and the boars were no longer stuck staring at it. They returned to the fight at hand, and the boar attacking Dumah managed to get a charge attack on him as he was trying to activate a third skill. He was knocked back a bit, wincing slightly. "Damn... I had hoped to cast my Fireball Pitch..." As Dumah said this aloud, a small sphere of flame formed in the free left hand of the Swashbuckler, and he had an expression of slight surprise on his face. Quickly, almost immediately, that shock turned to joy and realization. "I see, so our skills are activated by vocal commands." As the boar attempted to attack Dumah once again, Dumah dodged back, stepping out of the charging range of the boar, throwing the ball of fire at it. - 484 Words - - Total: 1794 - -------------------- -- Battle Status -- -------------------- Dumah - HP: 83% MP: 79% @bornfromvelvet - HP: 100% MP: 100% @kurosan - HP: 100% MP: 100% Haseo - HP: 83% MP: 100% Dumah's Boar - HP: 53% MP: 100% Kuro's Boar - HP: 80% MP: 100% Haseo's Boar - HP: 81% MP: Do these Boars even have any MP? Kat's eyes glanced over the battlefield. Things seemed to be going well for the group. No one seemed to have taken any hits, and everyone seemed to be doing well enough, steadily chipping away at their assigned boar's HP. Even Kuro, who seemed to be the most inexperienced fighter in the party was doing alright, surprisingly not taking any hits thus far. Dumah paused his assault against his Boar, and quickly opened his menu, navigating to his skills. After a few moments, Dumah quickly grabbed a pebble out of his pocket- 'Who keeps random pebbles in their pockets anyways?' -and flung it high into the air, the pebble releasing a brilliant flash of light. Katarina quickly realised what he had just done. 'Flush Draw. Nice.' she thought, recognizing the skill from the many times she saw it back when Elder Tale was just a game. 'Now, what's your plan, Dumah?' Katarina didn't have to wait long for an answer, as while everyone was blinded by the light from Flush Draw, Dumah seemed to have activated another skill, a dagger floating in the air. Ante Up. "Go help Kuro" he commanded forcefully, the small blade flying to Kuro in response. "Kuro, you may use my dagger if you like. It would seem that you have no other weapons but your crossbow, so if you would prefer to fire upon the enemy from a distance, my dagger can attack the enemy on its own. The choice is yours."
Kat didn't care to listen to Kuro's response, she noticed something from the corner of her eye. Something rather problematic.
Haseo had taken his eyes away from his boar and seemed to have decided that Kat was more interesting, staring at her instead. Taking your eyes away from the combat when you yourself are a combatant is risky enough, but something worse than that is letting your opponent get a hit on you. Why would he do that? Kat was almost certain that he didn't have any counter skills, so...
She froze as she realised the answer. Dammit. It was her bloody façade, wasn't it? She made herself seem too weak, too scared. He must have thought that she was panicking and decided that taking a hit was what he needed to do in order to give her confidence or some bull like that. 'Okay, okay, no need to get angry me, maybe it was legitimately an accident, maybe he wasn't trying to get hit-' Calmly, Haseo quickly kicked the boar away and looked back at Katarina, smiling softly. Goddamnit, she was right, wasn't she?
Dashing towards Haseo, she quickly opened her menu, tapping open the "Skills" submenu. Quickly tapping one of the buttons, Katarina's fingertips started to emit bright, white light in the shape of a hexagram, something any Elder Tale player would recognize as the Healing Light ability. Kat started counting the seconds until the spell was cast, the number ingrained into her skull from hours and hours of research and gameplay. "Two... One... Zero..." she whispered as the light shot out from her fingers and hit Haseo, boosting his health up from 83% to 89%. Considering it wasn't the almighty Cure spell and was just Healing Light that wasn't too bad. Still, she couldn't ignore the fact that Haseo could've easily have been on full health at the moment if he didn't sit their like a moron.
"Bloody idiot..." she muttered.
Oh. Oh no. She... may have forgotten to use her higher pitched voice there. That was authentic Joel. Now what would happen? Was Haseo just going to tell everyone, or... She shook her head. This was not the time! Dumah seemed to have taken some damage, seemingly the same amount as Haseo. She estimated that her "Healing Light" spell still had at least 4 seconds left before she could cast again. Either way, she needed to get to Dumah. As Kat was running over, Dumah muttered softly, "Damn... I had hoped to cast my Fireball Pitch..." A small sphere of fire started to form in Dumah's left hand, surprising both of them. Kat grinned as she realised what had happened. Dumah seemed to have reached the same conclusion as Katarina. "I see, so our skills are activated by vocal commands." he said joyfully, dodging an attack from his boar, pitching his fireball with glee. Okay. Kat had to test this out. Healing Light's cooldown timer had hit zero, so she happily threw her hand to face Dumah. "Healing Light." Okay. She couldn't help but feel a bit powerful as she looked at the ethereal light pour out of her hand into Dumah.
Quickly getting over the power rush, Kat glanced around the battlefield once more, this time her attention falling on Kuro. The boar already shook away his shock from the critical hit and was about to charge at Kuro again, but Dumah used his {Flush Draw} skill, ditracting all enemy boars and also showing Kuro that you can use the skills from the menu. (Oh, I guess I had to simply miss the button in my rush...) But now the little-bit embarrassed already noticed that Dumah is also ... sending his dagger to help him??? ("Go help Kuro.") (Great, I am so bad that he has to take pity on me....) *Sigh* Dumah accompanied this gesture with an explanation: "Kuro, you may use my dagger if you like. It would seem that you have no other weapons but your crossbow, so if you would prefer to fire upon the enemy from a distance, my dagger can attack the enemy on its own. The choice is yours." Kuro was greatful, but also he was a bit pissed off, however he didn't want to be rude. "Thanks." (I'll use it when it will get up close and personal.) With that thought he put the dagger behind his belt and aimed at his target, which was just about to re-realize his true target, meaning him, instead of Dumah's fake target. "This time I'm gonna be careful." Kuro muttered as he was again at the skills menu. The magical light faded and the boars were up and kicking again, which seemed to take Dumah by surprise enabling his boar to charge at him. But Kuro was seeing this in just a corner of his eye and was more focused about his enemy charging at him. He aimed at him and released the bolt while using the {Bank Shot} skill. He succesfuly hit the boar in it's torso dealing 10% damage, but the animal did not slow down, in fact, it seemed that the hit acctualy made it much angrier and with that, even faster. Kuro quickly pulled out his borrowed dagger doging to the side, while slicing the animal across it's torso creating a minor wound, that only removed 5% of the animals health. Upon doging Kuro saw Dumah smiling while "holding" a fireball. "I see, so our skills are activated by vocal commands." (Wait.... what?) As he was about to ask those questions Katarina held her hand towards Dumah and simply said {Healing Light} and with that she started healing him. (Oh, that's co..) "Arghh!" Distracted by the new "discovery", Kuro did not watch his enemy, which is a big mistake, as he realized at the moment when the boar charged basicaly "through" him, making him fall and loose 15% of his health. " You piece of sh*t! he said as he threw Dumah's dagger at the, now turning boar. The dagger hit the animal right in the ass, making it squeal as loud as possible. That gave Kuro the feeling of revenge and the bonus 8% of damage were also quite nice. Then he quickly loaded another bolt into his crossbow and fired at the animal, before it could run away. The bolt hit it just above his front left leg, effectivly slowing it down, if it wanted to either run away, or charge at him, while dealing 7% damage. (Finaly, I am getting better at this..) He smiled at the thought. He then looked at his party members, seeing that Haseo is also doing lot better then him, that replaced his smile with his usual "I-don't-give-a-damn" face. ___________________________________________________________________________ Kuro: Lvl: 1 (Wooden bolts: 7)Health: 85%Mana: 70%____________________________________________________ Kuro's Young Pittered Boar: Lvl: 1Health: 50%Mana: --___________________________________________________________________________ [Word count: 569 Tags:@bornfromvelvet @dumah Haseo Note: If the writing sucks more then usual, take note that I was writing this at 23:00-23:45 while being extremly tired, so yea.]

Dumah waited as Katarina cast her Healing Light spell. He could feel the illumination of the magic refilling him with energy. As the shining of the spell began to dim, Dumah pulled his sword back, his free hand forward. "Thank you, Katarina." Dumah pulled his free hand back while thrusting his right hand forward, his blade piercing deep into the body of the boar. Dumah quickly retracted the blade so as to prevent it from being caught inside the boar, stuck. The beast let out a pained squeal as it tried to charge into Dumah, only to fail each time. With several more slashes, thrusts, and balls of fire, the beast fell, bursting into a bright display of items, gold, and psyche bubbles. With his enemy defeated, Dumah quickly joined Katarina. Now that he had no one left to attack himself, he decided it would be smart to simply stand back, letting the other fighters in the party combat their enemies, defending Katarina should anything appear with the intention to fight her.

"You piece of-!" Kuro yelled as his boar slammed into him. Kat sighed softly. Out of everyone in the party, Kuro was the one that was having the most trouble. Granted, this was his first time fighting, but it wasn't a question of experience, since Haseo didn't seem to be having any trouble (Kat was almost certain that Dumah had to have had some experience outside the game, he was just too good to be a complete beginner). Hell, Haseo was good enough that he could just give his boar a hit on him and still be fine.
Kat shook her head (she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, huh). She needed to stop thinking about Haseo. Thinking about Haseo would lead to her thinking about her slip-up, and thinking about her slip-up-
The sound of a squealing boar brought her back to reality. Kuro seemed to have thrown Dumah's dagger at it, and stuck it directly in the arse. Classy. Anyways, the important thing here was that Kuro was on 85% HP, and Kat could cast a spell.
Sprinting over to the assassin in question, Kat raised her hand to face Kuro. "Healing Light!" she yelled as Kuro fired his crossbow again, hitting his boar in it's leg. Kat paused as she saw Kuro smile. Not a grin, not a smirk, an actual, wide smile. As soon as she noticed the rare sight though, it vanished, quickly replaced by his regular stoic expression. Katarina soon realised the reason behind this: He had noticed the others. More specifically, he had noticed the other's skill. Haseo didn't seem to be having any problems whatsoever, and Dumah, well... if you looked at Dumah, you would assume that he'd been fighting all of his life. He was most definitely the most skilled fighter in the group.
Her assertion was proven to be fact as Dumah's boar fell to the ground, bursting into gold. Dusting himself off, he ran over to Katarina, seemingly to protect her.
Katarina's eyes scanned the forest for the umpteenth time. Barring some mishaps, everything seemed to be going to plan-
-aaaand those are boars in the distance, aren't they? They didn't seem to have noticed the commotion over where her party was, but they were uncomfortably close. She bit her lower lip nervously, looking at her party. Kuro probably couldn't handle another boar on top of his current one, and while Haseo probably could, Kat was a bit uncomfortable asking him, considering... well... yeah. That only left Dumah. He was definitely skilled enough to handle two, and wasn't doing anything at the moment, so...
Dumah looked over to Katarina, puzzled as to why she suddenly started to heal him. Silently, she motioned towards the boars in the distance. "If they haven't noticed us by now, they most likely won't notice us in the near future." she stated, her eyes fixated on the boars. "Still though, I'm not sure if I want to risk waiting. If we wait, there's a chance-admittedly, a small chance, but still a chance-that they'll notice Kuro and Haseo, and I highly doubt that they can handle the extra boars on top of their current ones. Kuro was pleasantly surprised when he found out that Katarina healed him using "{Healing Light}". He quickly nodded as a thank you, but the boar was already attacking again. "Oh, I've had enough of you today!" He aimed at the animal and fired, succesfuly hitting it in the eye dealing yet another critical hit for 28% damage. "Serves you right...." He muttered quietly. The animal was screeching as hell, so Kuro simply walked towards it and kicked it in the head causing it to fall on it's side. Then he pulled the dagger out of the animal and with one quick slice he cut the animals throat, silencing it immidietly. At the moment he killed it, it exploded into gold. "Oh, that's... interesting"When he finaly looked up from his doing he saw Katarina and Dumah looking somewhere into the forrest with concerned looks. (I should probably find out what's going on) While he was walking towards them he noticed, that they acctualy didn't notice him. (I could easily scare them...) He grinned at the thought, but then his more pessimistic and dark side "spoke up": (Or surprise attack/kill them....) and the grin disappeared. Holding Dumah's dagger he (still unnoticed by the pair) creeped up behind them. "Thanks for the dagger." He said, startling Katarina, if he startled Dumah he did not show any reaction. He then handed the dagger back to Dumah and noticed what they've been talking about: There was a pair of boars, slowly making their way towards them. (Well at least, they are not attacking us.... yet.) Kuro was ready to try to deal with them, but seeing how bad he was fighting his designated boar, he wasn't sure how much help he'd acctualy be. He loaded another bolt into his crossbow. Then he looked at their last party member, Haseo, to see how he was doing. ___________________________________________________________________________ Kuro: Lvl: 1 (Wooden bolts: 6)Health: 91%Mana: 75%____________________________________________________ Kuro's Young Pittered Boar: Lvl: 1 Health: 0% Mana: --___________________________________________________________________________ [Word count: 312 Tags:@bornfromvelvet @dumah Haseo Note: Sorry if it is really short. As Dumah defeated his boar and went to Katarina, allowing her to finish healing him to full health, she pointed out a nearby group of two more boars oblivious to the party's presence. You're probably strong enough to battle two at once, and I would be there to heal you."
Dumah nodded in agreement, watching the grazing boars. "They are a fair distance away. It is not too far a possibility that we may be outside of their field of view." Dumah began to scan the area surrounding the boars, looking for vantage points, escape routes, any part of the area that would give him the tactical advantage.
As Dumah was simulating the possibilities in his head, Kuro had defeated his boar and attempted to scare both Dumah and Katarina. In a sudden voice, he spoke right behind them, "Thanks for the dagger." Startled, Katarina jumped slightly. Dumah had a reaction, but it was a more appropriate reaction for someone of his type.
Hearing the sudden voice behind him, Dumah spun around quickly, stepping back into a battle stance and drew his blade a few centimeters from the scabbard as he expected to see an enemy of some sort. Seeing who it was, Dumah sighed, stood out of his battle stance while sheathing his sword, and had a somewhat serious expression on his face. "It is not wise to startle someone with monsters and danger around." Dumah turned back to the two boars in the distance, thinking again. As the thought to himself, Kuro returned the dagger Dumah had lent him, which Dumah returned to a small sheath on his right hip.
"You've become the de facto leader of our little group. Do you want to try and take 'em, or do you want to risk ignoring them? It's your call."
Dumah nodded. "All right, then. Kuro, keep your crossbow aimed on the boar over there," Dumah then pointed to the boar basking in the heat of the sun. "I will try to deal with the other boar." Dumah waited a few moments for his mana to fully regenerate before pulling out his dagger, using it to help him climb onto the branches of a nearby tree. There were several trees leading to Dumah's target, conveniently grazing under the shade of a tree. Dumah faced towards the branch of a nearby tree. Being a Courtesan and not an Acrobat, leaping from branch to branch would prove difficult for him. Dumah leaped off of his branch, and half way across the gap, he whispered "Fold Step." Dumah's body was propelled forward, giving him the momentum he needed to land on the branch. It took him quite some time to get across to the boar, but he was now right above it. He looked to Kuro, nodding softly before taking his dagger out and throwing it at Kuro's target, lodging it deep into the beast's body. Almost immediately, Dumah leaped off of the branch, his sword drawn downward. "Fold Step!" Again, his body was propelled, but this time he went straight down, his sword piercing deep into his own target.

Note: If you guys are wondering why (or how) I'm using Fold Step, my level 4 skill, I figured that we all leveled up a bit. I mean sure that's a ton of EXP for two boars, but I noticed Katarina's template said her level is six, so I figured she was level six in the thread, instead of in general. Like how I was level one in this thread, but I'm level twenty nine in general. I thought that if she hit level six, then level four is reasonable. If my logic is flawed, then my mistake.

"You've become the de facto leader of our little group. Do you want to try and take 'em, or do you want to risk ignoring them? It's your call."Dumah nodded, his mind made up. "All right, then. Kuro, keep your crossbow aimed on that boar over there," Dumah said, motioning towards one of the boars. "I will try and deal with the other boar." Kat nodded."Sounds like a plan. I'll follow you through the bushes, and try my best not to aggro them." Her gaze fell on the two adventurer's health bars. "Before we go in, I'll heal you guys up to full HP. I'd wait for your MP to regen as well, but that's just me." Dumah and Kuro glanced at each other, before nodding, agreeing with Kat's proposal. A few minutes later, they were ready to go in. Dumah quickly unsheathed his dagger and jabbed it into a nearby tree, using it as a makeshift climbing hold of sorts. After a quick glance in Kuro's direction, Kat quickly ran into the nearby bushes, attempting to make herself less noticeable. Her stealth wasn't excellent, but hey, it did the job nicely. Dumah was running through the trees overhead, using his Fold Step skill to shoot across the branches at rapid pace. Well, maybe "rapid" might be a bit of an overstatement. He was clearly having some trouble, spending much longer than necessary trying to find his balance on the thin branches.
After a short while, the two had reached the clearing with the boars. 'They haven't noticed us yet...' she thought, gripping her staff tighter. Kat stared at the boars, quickly going over the battle conditions in her head. 'Our party is at max health, slight problems in terms of mana but nothing we can't compensate for. Boars are at 100% HP, no skills as per the norm, somewhat higher levelled than the other boars, but it shouldn't be that much of a problem...' Kat was pulled out of her thoughts as she caught Dumah draw his sword, his dagger currently still situated firmly in his hand. Well, was situated firmly. Currently, it was sticking out of Kuro's target, lodged deep in the beast's hide. "Fold Step!" he yelled as his body was propelled towards his target, sword-first.
His blade lodged itself into the boar's body.

Note: We have no idea about Haseo either. Which really, really sucks because he was kinda integral to the plot I was building up, but hey, what can you do. Anyway, sorry about the abnormally short post from me.]

Haseo seemed to still be figting with his boar. The fact that he killed his boar before Haseo boosted his ego a littlebit, but Kuro did not have time for more detailed investigation because Dumah and Katarina were already planning the attack on the boars and selected Kuro's target: It was a level 2 boar. (Ok I think I can deal with that.)"Sounds like a plan. I'll follow you through the bushes, and try my best not to aggro them. Before we go in, I'll heal you guys up to full HP. I'd wait for your MP to regen as well, but that's just me." Kuro agreed with this, so he just simply nodded. After they were at their full strength Dumah climbed onto one of the trees and started to move closer towards the boars, but around 8 meters above ground, jumping from one branch to another. Damn, now I wish I could do something like this, but I think I chose wrong subclasses in this case... wait, this is no more a game. So I could theoretically learn how to "parkour" the hard way. Yea I have to learn how to do that.) Katarina followed Dumah on the ground level. When Dumah got above the boars, he started his attack. He first threw his dagger at Kuro's boar. (God damn it!) He knew he should be grateful, but he could not help but feel kinda angry or disapointed. He was no fool and knew he did not do as well as he could with his previous boar, but he also did not want pity from anyone else, or in his eyes: thinking that he is useless. (Oh, well, let's get to work.)Before Kuro's boar could aggro on Dumah Kuro shot the animal in the forehead. (I am truly getting better at this.) He grinned for a second. (At this speed I think I could master it in no time. With training of course.) And he was focused again on the battle. His "target" was now moving at quite fast speed right towards him. To boar's unhappiness, Kuro had already loaded another bolt and as it was about to hit him, he jumped over it and shot below him as he was right above the boar and as Kuro was landing, he was able to turn around and as he hit the ground he kicked the animal from the side, making it spin a little. "Come at me, you little sh*t."___________________________________________________________________________ Kuro: Lvl: 1 (Wooden bolts: 4)Health: 100%Mana: 100%____________________________________________________ Kuro's 2nd Young Pittered Boar: Lvl: 2Health: 65%Mana: --___________________________________________________________________________ [Word count: 414 Tags:@bornfromvelvet @dumah HaseoNote: In my "Battle status" I will write only those things, I/Kuro has interacted with. Also if Haseo will not come on this weekend, instead of just ignoring where he is, let's say he suddenly disapeard together with his boar, that way, if he WOULD join later, he will have an interesting way of explaining it. ;) oh yea and also with that, now we realy HAVE TO wait 'till weekend. ]
