KRIS
HALF-ALV SUMMONER
Kris sat in the bookstore he worked in, pondering about random things as per normal. With some concentration and a flick of his hand, he accessed the menu that was available to all Adventurers in this word. It was at this moment that his hand hovered across a familiar word "Quest". Ah... Its been a long time since there was something in this section, huh, thought Kris as he pressed the button with his finger and sighed as he looked at the currently empty quest log. I wonder if there is some way to make this section activate again, it would surely be quite useful, thought Kris as he thought back to the times that he was playing games in the real world, where he would always be busy doing some quests or just hanging out online. At that time, the quest log would be really useful - telling him the progress of the quest, sometimes directing him to speak to some character, sometimes just an indicator that he still had to obtain certain ingredients for collection, and sometimes even pushing him along the main story of the game. The uses were many, but it was basically a completely normal thing to see in MMORPGs. But ever since the «Apocalypse», players have stopped receiving official quests from the «People of the Land», and instead it had become somewhat of an unsatisfying verbal agreement to gamers like himself.
Perhaps it was due to his own personality, but he liked things to be written down in black and white - it was one of the reasons he chose the «Scribe» subclass to begin with. Is there anything I can do...? That thought plagued Kris's mind as he looked at his own class and subclass descriptions.
Scribes handle all sorts of tasks when it comes to physical documents. Their primary ability is to create virtual copies of any document by simply having an available reference. This allowed a small population of scribes to take up roles as lawyers by writing up and officializing contracts. One of-
Wait, what? Kris thought as he read the last line again. Con...tracts? Officializing? How does one go about doing that? The gears in Kris's mind began to turn, and although he had not fully grasped this concept as of yet, he was, in reality, on the edge of a new discovery. If one were to think about the term "contracts", it would naturally bring up the topic of "signing" the contract in question. To start with, a contract is written on... paper. That was what he needed.
"Hey, I'll be stepping out for a bit to buy something!" hollered Kris to the «People of the Land» that owned this store, an old man in his fifties. He made a mental list to buy ingredients to make paper, and maybe some writing materials while he was at it. The shops are... that way, thought Kris as he walked with a spring in his step, his good mood evident for all to see.
