Today was one that would be carried out with some trepidation. Since the discovery of the appearance change potion, a project that was placed on the back burner for several months was finally viable now. Capsule had some experience with making the appearance change potion, and studied up on it as much as she could. If there was some secret art she was missing, she could not find it. It was better to think of the magical properties the recipe yielded. There was no way such a potion could be wrought from mere herbs and watered down solvent, so something more fantastical had to be involved.
It was for that reason that she had gone out and acquired certain materials, shunning the bottom of the barrel ones, but also the higher elemental themed items. Her kitchen was cleaner than usual, and her best kettle was set on the stove. Arranged in neat rows on her table were bunches of mana flowers, a handful of anima berries, and bundles of sunlight and moonlight branches. Within one of these ingredients was the catalyst to transfiguration of the human body.
Capsule picked up a sheet of paper, which depicted a crude drawing of a human shifting into a wolf. She had no wolf on her, of course, but something easily manageable. Under the table, in a cage, were a few rabbits she had found out in her garden this morning. The naughty little buggers were in the process of tearing through her herb patch when she stumbled upon them. They were not quite monsters, but the potion should still work, if all went well.
She twirled a mana flower in her fingers, marveling at the faint pulse of mana it gave off. This would surely be beneficial to the potion -- mana was often used as a catalyst for pharmaceutical and alchemic goods. Excluding it would not be ideal. As for the anima berry… she was still unsure about that. It was used in the appearance change potion, but she had little clue as to what it provided. The description only hinted at renewed vigor, but what did that have to do with anything?
The berry was placed down, in favor of one of the many text books stacked on one end of the table. 'Anima, anima…' Books were open and then promptly closed, until she found exactly what she was looking for. 'Mind, soul, breath, life…' She tapped her forehead with a finger. Her confusion was replaced with self-admonishment. Soul. That was the key to all of this, making the Anima Berry highly important. But then what of the branches?
A skeptical eye was cast at the branches. They seemed more appropriate for making flashbangs and the like. Ideas formulated in her mind, none of which was relevant to her current research. Capsule quickly scribbled them down, however. They would come in handy later. That left her with the third mysterious ingredient, but she was resourceful. She would think of something.
A mana flower reclaimed her hand. Capsule gently squeezed it one last time, to see that blueish aura She pinned it to the table with one finger, almost accusingly. Would only one Mana Flower and two or more Anima Berry do? There was a hint of uncertainty in her movements, but what else could she do? This was a delicate piece of research, so she could not afford to be reckless.
