[attr="class","tempy3"]Shira had just finished his new mage robes and tucked it neatly onto the table. He—er, she had been feeling the high of making something nice for herself. Her familiar Uzume lounged lazily in her fluffy pillow heap. The summoner gave her a mischievous look and made the “I’m lookin at you” gesture. The pompous fox-rabbit hybrid’s ears and tails perked up at the sight of that as if to ask “Yes?” Shira would have to ask Capsule to translate for him, one day, assuming her skill works with summons just as well as with wild animals. With a singing tone, she whispered:

“You’re next, U-zu-me-chan~”

Of course, the little carbuncle understood none of what she said, but the way she said sent a shiver along her spine. Things didn’t bode well for the proud summon’s stature. Just as Shira brought out another sheet of fabric, the feeling that he forgot something tickled his consciousness. Oh, who was that lovely girl Capsule really really liked? Mute? From the sound of things, they were adorable together. That gave Shira an idea, and it doubled as filler for his crafting skill: Plushies.

While it would have been preferable that she had met Mute before he made them, she figured she’ll just base things off of Capsule’s description: brown hair, pretty face, pretty eyes, pretty everythings. That wasn’t too difficult, was it? Nevertheless, she opted to start with Capsule and her new face. The urge to make classic red-hair Capsule was tempting, but Mute may not have seen Capsule like that—or who knows? Maybe they met during the long period that Capsule followed in their other friends’ footsteps and disappeared. Even though she did come back and already reacquainted with the fox, Shira was still feeling pretty happy that she remembered her.

There was a knock on the door, which was probably Capsule. Shira hoped she didn’t mind using the lounge/living room as her workplace. Sure, it would be the first room people see upon entering but it’s really just more convenient for instant access to the Bazaar and vice versa. The tailor excitedly opened up the door and leapt towards the person in super moe fashion before she could realize it was somebody else.

Mute made her way towards her newfound guild’s very own large abode, with her eyes glued to the thick book held in her right hand. One may think that it would be harder to navigate around people who may have been passing by at the time, but people tended to shy away from and or shun heretics, so she didn’t have to put much effort into evading the shambling buffoons in her immediate vicinity, since they were pretty much doing it for her. It was alright, she was keeping adequate watch of her surroundings in her peripheral anyway. Besides, what could possibly go wrong from her being a little less attentive to her surroundings?

Yup, the brunette was definitely being changed slowly since her integration into this world. Normally rational and cautious, she was starting to feel more lenient and passive, not channelling nearly as much rationality and pragmatism into her actions as she used to. Because, truly, what was rational about possibly walking straight into someone? Absolutely freaking nothing. What could have possibly heralded such a change? Had she become so utterly elated thanks to the existence of her lover, Capsule, in her life, that it made her carelessly giddy? Either way, she was almost at her desired location.

It was her first time being in a guild. Her old self would have disdained the concept of joining one, but she wanted to be supportive to anything associated with Capsule, or that she cared for. At this point, she couldn’t tell if that was an altruistic desire or a selfish one, she always had trouble distinguishing the difference. Needless to say, she was studying on various skills she could implement into her profession, as the heretic was also a chef, to be of better use to not only Capsule, but the guild itself. Cooking was a method of taming her thoughts and putting herself at ease, a great coping method, like a psychological sanctuary to seek refuge in, back when she had to deal with the harshness of her upbringing.

So, her crude navigation brought her to her destination in good time. Not looking up from the book gripped in her right hand, the knuckle of her left collided with the door, rapping firmly on it. She wasn’t sure what she expected to be greeted by, but she definitely didn’t see what did welcome her coming. The door was opened with unforeseen fervour, and as she lifted her gaze from her book, her crimson eyes widened as she caught glimpse of a woman leaping towards her.

“Kyaaaa!” Reflex took her over, and she caught the excited fox tail by looping her arms around her. Hanging on for dear life and stumbling back a little, it made for quite the unintended, but still endearing embrace. She managed to catch the name she was wrongly addressed by – was she mistaken for Capsule? This was awkward. Abashment seized her face in the form of a subtle blush. “Uwaah.. what’s even going on…”

With the thought to tease her a bit in mind, she firmly pressed herself against her and rubbed her cheek against hers. Uzume, wondering where her Summoner had gone, had skipped her way to the front door to wonder what the holdup was. She stood at the foot of the doorway, glancing upwards at the stranger who has unjustly seduced her master. Unacceptable. It was bad enough that she was to share her master because the other girl was their guild leader but now she had to compete with this bimbo, too?!

The summon clamped her jaws on her summoner’s skirt and tugged lightly, her eyes squinting from the sunlight. Oh why did it have to be bright out? Normally, she stayed indoors and napped during uneventful days especially when the sun was really beaming down on them like a ravenous hydra. Stupid master, making me have to go outside. The harder she tugged, the more her effort shown in the glow of her forehead crystal. Stupid, baka face.

Processing the situation was hard for her, she who was used to receiving affection from one person and unused to any stimuli of that variety from anybody else. The only way for a person like her, who relied on rationality to validate her own feelings and to make sense of a situation, to cope with and possibly take in the influx of information as the situation rapidly escalated was to simplify it all in her head. Embarrassing. The one fondly rubbing their cheek against her own would be able to feel the sheer heat emanating from her cheeks as they continued their advancement to even deeper shades of rose. Her normal minimal enthusiasm for surprises was sullied by knowledge of the surprise being intended for a separate party entirely, even if they were her significant other. Still, a latent curiosity dwelled within her, a weak flame in the face of the conflagration that was her rampant confusion and abashment, regarding what exactly the surprise was. Admittedly, Mute didn’t have a lot of exposure to her lover’s wealth of friends, predominantly due to her pervasive sense of distrust. Unsurprisingly, it fortified the blush priorly awoken in her cheeks. When the stranger recoiled, Mute wasn’t sure if she felt relief at all. The situation was still immensely awkward, and she had a feeling her lack of resistance was one of the culprits. Somehow, the sudden embrace wasn’t unpleasant. Mute tried to stammer something in response, anything would suffice, after the fox tail’s apologetic utterances, but couldn’t articulate or come up with anything useful to say. Instead, her face was merely plastered with a dumbfounded expression. God, what should she even say in this situation? Paranoiac as she was, running didn’t sound like a bad idea, but she didn’t want to run (literally and otherwise) from her problems anymore, wanting to bolster her mental fortitude for Capsule. Ultimately, her more rational self regarded excusing herself as the most intelligent option, but the soundings of her racing heartbeat drowned out her more pragmatic thoughts. She managed to peel her attention away from the apologetic fox and fixed her gaze onto the smaller one. The consecutive yips were, to say the least, cute and she was instantly reminded of Bosco, who also had significant qualms with her. Pretty much, that was the only coherent thought going through her mind. There were times, like these, where she wished was she was more into roleplay. That way, she could live up to her name and not talk. That would make it so she didn’t have to think of things to say, which she was definitely horrible at in the first place. Surely, it would still be incredibly embarrassing, but at least she would have an excuse to not short circuit her brain trying to figure out the right words to say. Yeah, that was sounding great! She was a scholar, so she read and wrote and stuff, roleplay would be easy. She could find a way to get some new, more Heretic-like looks, and be the coolheaded, mute witch… And then fox rabbits. “Ní thuigim!” She tensed up, as though she were startled, Mute being the mouse of a person she was when confronted with the beast that was socializing. Or was it more of a rabbit fox? Her thoughts were completely segregated. The offering served to bolster her confusion and the exclamations definitely weren’t helping. But it was cute, and it would be rude to not take the offer up, right?
