Standing at average height with a proportionally average physique, he sports average brown hair and average brown eyes. The type of appearance that you would not pay any notice in passing. However if you do take a moment, you will detect a keen glimmering in his eyes and a lopsided grin that belies his quiet nature. Deciding that being this very average of appearance is exactly what would be unique in a world where you have the freedom to create inimitable different character appearances, Kae went to great lengths to depict these physical traits in the appearance of his Elder Tale character. In-game, Valandil, is uniquely average with uniquely average height and physique, and uniquely average brown hair and eyes. He can usually be found dressed in standard Adventuring attire under a grey or green hooded cloak. Link to late-game appearance: LINK [attr="class","infotitle"]Personality [attr="class","infobox"] Kae is Intelligent, loves a challenge and only slightly cynical. He uses logic and rationality as his default approach to most situations. These select qualities, his quiet nature and his average appearance has made him somewhat of a lone wolf in Elder Tale. The fact that Kae dedicated himself to playing a juggler (ranged weapon) swashbuckler in the popular MMO attest to his perseverance and strong will. The juggler swashbuckler is said to be a rare build due to the ammunition cost and it only becomes viable around level 50 when more weapons with the "returning" or "respawning" property starts to drop. It seemed that these type of characters are often the survivors of a near wipe, since they are fighting ranged and still have the same survivability as a Dual-wielding and Fencer build. This results in the build being called cowardly, and further adding to Kae’s loner status. Kae is however quick to smile and willing to lend a helping-hand where he can. He will treat others as they treat him, and generally works well with other players, but does not tend to approach them first. Link [attr="class","infotitle"]History [attr="class","infobox"] Born to middle-class parents as an only child, Kae grew up in relative comfort. Due to his parents being neither aloof nor very present in his childhood and having no siblings, he became use to entertaining himself. Games took centre stage in this facet of his existence and progressively became the replacement for most other forms of social entertainment. Kae did not find life difficult nor did he struggle to fit in with others...he just found it boring. Being a rather intelligent individual he found that games and role playing games in general would stimulate him mentally much more effectively than hanging out with friends. This gave him the label of loner to all but a few close friends. In his first year of university, Kae discovered Elder Tales and grabbed hold of it with flying enthusiasm. It was detailed, intricate and beautifully suited to waste his free time on. He spent almost as much time in-game as he did attending to his studies – which incidentally did not negatively affect either. This attested to his level of intelligence as well as his affinity to his chosen area of study. Unfortunately the ease which he handled both did not diminish his boredom with life...in fact it only increased it. More and more Kae’s philosophy of life outside of Elder Tale shifted to contemplating how boring the routine and habits of society is. More and more he threw himself into the MMO. Needless to say when he was teleported into Elder Tale he did not necessarily experience it as a major decline in the quality of his life. [attr="class","bigheader]Skills [attr="class","columnheader"]MAIN CLASS SKILLs [attr="class","columnheader"]SUB-CLASS CLASS SKILLs [attr="class","columnheader"]CRAFTING CLASS SKILLs [attr="class","column"] Fold Step: Tier I Skill Using this skill, the user's body suddenly is propelled and accelerates in a desired direction. It is often used as a surprise burst of momentum when delivering an attack or used as a last-ditch dodging maneuver. The only downside to this technique is that once activated, the swashbuckler cannot stop or adjust their trajectory. It should be noted that if this skill is used for an attack, the momentum from initiating the attack will not increase damage in any way. It merely allows the Swashbuckler to quickly close in on the opponent for a possible surprise attack. This skill has an animation time of 1 second and a cooldown time of 6 seconds. Blind Bet: Tier I Skill Attempting to hit a pressure point, the Swashbuckler thrusts the weapon forward as its blade glows a faint blue color. This motion has an animation time of 2 seconds, 1 seconds each strike if dual-wielding. If it makes direct unguarded contact with an opponent, their vision becomes blurry for the next 10 seconds, resulting in an accuracy debuff. The degree of blindness is most effective at the moment of contact, clearing up as the debuff wears off. For single-weapon and throwing weapon users, the debuff is dependent upon a single weapon's hit. A dual weapon user must strike the opponent successfully with both weapons to ensure the maximum effect. Even still, they have two chances at hitting, so stability is sacrificed for consistency. Nevertheless, the cooldown of this technique is also 10 seconds, meaning that an experienced user can sustain the effect as long as they can manage to pierce the opponent's defense each time. Viper Raise: Tier I Skill An attack that targets the arm tendons. A successful hit will result in gradual damage over time due to a bleeding effect, which is accommodated by the wound area seeping out a constant trail of blood. Despite the move's somewhat gory animation, this bleeding effect is fairly minor and scales in a manner similarly to a poison effect. Also, for the next 10 seconds, the target's attack speed will be decreased by 10% due to the pain associated with moving the arms. This skill has a 2 second animation time and a 9 second cooldown. [attr="class","column"] High Jump: Level 1 Skill One of the most basic tricks of the Acrobat's specialty is their ability to jump greater heights than any average person. The Acrobat's maximum jumping height is doubled. While this skill might seem otherwise mundane, it can allow one to reach places that would be difficult for many others. (Passive) [attr="class","column"] Toxicity Tolerance: Level 1 Skill Pharmacists have developed a certain resistance around drugs. This skill can be toggled to make a pharmacist immune to status debuffs caused by potions. Additionally, they passively recover twice as fast from poison status effects. |
