Shizu was starting to grasp the fact that she was not trapped in some form of cruel, misleading dream. She thought that she really was trapped within the video game that she loved to play. She might have seen the good in not being an invalid, but it seemed to real to last very long. She expected to simply collapse one day on broken bones. It wouldn't be the first time that she did, but it seemed like it would be even worse when she was trapped here. Around her she saw people begin to buy into the dream too, they talked about things like cooking and leveling. Its not like Shizu really cared about any of that. She hasn't eaten since she had entered the game, which was about a week ago.
She felt like she was starting to slow down in her walking around town, so she tried it. She went to a store and expected to see generic npc dialogue. Something like "Here are my wares" or "Welcome to my humble shop." She was surprised when the person actually asked her about how she didn't look well, and offered to sell some food to her specifically. She thought the update would have improved the flavor text, but this seemed to be too weird. She got some food and went around to tasting it. And she tasted mush. Just cold, tasteless and flavorless mush, disguised as the normal food people eat every day. Shizu didn't have the greatest selection of food in the real world, but most of it was better than this. Shizu didn't know what to feel in this moment. She told herself that she wouldn't get too invested in a fake world, but this just didn't feel right to her. She felt offended and disappointed, at fake food.
As she walked away from the store, she debated her feelings. It was only natural that this dream would be easy to lose yourself in, given the realism of it and the people around her. Yet with each step she took she was proving why she was clearly dreaming. After a while she decided that she may as well try to do something with her time. She walked around the city and tried to gain information on the other people around her. They seemed to be just as confused as her, but were establishing groups together. They were starting to act as if this were the actual game. Shizu debated as to whether or not they were wrong. What she was seeing around her certainly seemed to be real, and it was suspicious that she had never seen people before. When a person dreams, the dream is almost always populated with things and people that they have already seen in their life. Such as a random person you pass by at the grocery store. The scale of the dream was curious as well, given how the world seemed to be completely alive and populated.
Shizu thought about her old life and managed to bring a frown to her face. If only she could actually walk like this in the real world. What she wouldn't give for this dream to be real right now. Then she started to get doubtful, maybe she could be wrong. Maybe the world finally decided to cut her some slack. People's dreams just dont come true, not matter what fairy tales tell you. Shizu has had similar dreams in the past, but none of them were as vivid as her current one. It was in that moment she decided, she had nothing to live for in real life, so why not try to live an actual life in this world. She could wake up at any moment, but it was the same in the real world, she could die at any moment. Heck, the doctors said with was a miracle she lived long enough to be 17.
But that was Sakura. The sad excuse for a girl with no soul was Sakura. She was Shizu. Shizu was a powerful assassin, a great person, and everything that Sakura wasn't. She was the thing that Sakura had always dreamed she could be. But now, Sakura became Shizu. When that realization dawned on her, she felt a surge of energy rush through her. She was Shizu, the great hero of her dreams. So she ran. She did one thing that she never was able to do in her room, she ran. She didn't fear tripping and cracking her skull, she didn't fear accidently popping a joint loose with every move. She was free.
After running around like a lunatic for a while, she managed to calm down. The emotions she felt were so positive that she wasn't even sure where to start. The world was her oyster now and she could do just about anything that she wanted to do. Thats what she felt anyway. She thought and thought about what she always wanted to do should her dreams come true, though she came to a surprising blank. She had always wanted this, but had never stopped to consider what she would actually do if her fantasy came true. She then resumed just exploring the city, unknowingly keeping her dead eyes as she really wasnt trying to express a certain emotion.
Shizu looked curious as she stared inside what she assumed to be a clothing store. She didn't really have much experience in terms of shopping so she entered the store and walked up to the register. The woman there seemed to be a nice older lady, and definitely not a player. Shizu examined the racks upon racks of clothes before turning back to the lady and trying to sound stern, yet coming off being a crazy person, "Ma'am. I demand you show me your finest clothes." Shizu said saying the words very awkwardly and loudly, causing almost all of the stores denizens to look over at the blushing girl. That went all wrong, She was trying to sound normal, or what she thought normal was. The eyes managed to completely terrify her, causing her to run out of the store trying to hide the tears in her eyes.
Once she reached a tree where there was a distinct lack of denizens, she cried her eyes out. She wasn't ready for this. She didn't know what to say, what to do, how to react. She just saw pretty clothes and wanted to wear them. She didn't really get to wear much in the real world. Occasionally her parents would help her change pajamas, but that was about it. She hadn't thought much about it really, but now she was Shizu. She was actual person, someone with a life to try and live. How was she supposed to do it? Was she supposed to go in and wait to be helped? Was she supposed to go in and point to a pair of clothes? She had no idea. She decided that she needed to observe.
Shizu went back to the store once she dried her tears. She needed to get the eyes away from her. She saw a bush next to a window and very "stealthily" dove into it, breaking a few branches as she did. She then poked her head out, looking into the store to try and understand how it worked. She saw something that confused her, the people were taking the clothes themselves and then walking to the older lady. Shizu desperately wanted to learn more about this mysterious store, but she was growing more and more weary by the minute. Apparently walking around for days with no rest wasn't the best thing for your body. Shizu managed to fall asleep in the bushes, with her snoring only adding to the stealth of her mission.
Shizu slept there for hours, only awake the next day with something strangely soft on her. As she got her bearings she stood up again, remembering that she attempted to spy on the clothing store of that old lady. Shizu looked at the red fabric and decided that she should probably get away from that store. Once she reached that tree again, she examined the fabric. It was soft and reminded her of the pajamas she always wore when she was in the real world. But upon closer inspection, she determined that it was not in fact her pajamas, because the fabric was red. She stretched it out and saw that it was actually a coat. She instinctively put the coat on, feeling its warmth all over again.
As Shizu began to walk away from the tree, she looked at the coat some more. She could have sworn she recognized it from somewhere, but she wasn't sure. As she walked down the street, she looked back into the window of the clothing store. She noticed something was missing from the display shelves, and then put the pieces together. She recognized the coat because she saw it in the window of the store. Why did she have that coat? Did she steal it? She didn't remember stealing anything. Maybe it fell out the window and onto her? Maybe the coat chose Shizu as its master? She couldn't discern it.
It was in that moment that she felt something inside the right sleeve of the coat. It was a small piece of paper, smaller than an index card. After a moment, Shizu was able to read the mere two words that were written on it, "Good Luck." As Shizu stared there in confusion, she looked into the store to see a very kind smile on the face of the old lady. Now it all made sense, and Shizu felt good. She did it, it may have not been the way she intended, but she got some clothes. She would have prefered if a woman hadn't taken pity on her for looking insane, but whatever works. The newly cloaked adventurer Shizu looked on in wonder as she was ready to actually start her adventure. She knew she had a lot to learn but buying clothes was a good start right? Well if you call that buying clothes. She made a mental note to herself to increase her stealth.
Shizu set out on her journey, ready to try and become the hero of her dreams. While she still wasn't sure if this was even a dream or not, she didn't care at this point. she enjoyed the feeling of walking on her two legs so that is what she is gonna do.
