Appearance Dubois has a lithe body, fairly typical of elves, standing at six feet and four inches but weighing in at only around a hundred and sixty pounds. He has a fair, almost milky white complexion, with golden wheat blond hair that falls down halfway between the center of his back and the bottom of his shoulder blades. Most of his hair is kept tied back so that its more manageable. This also happens to show off his pointed ears, one of the most easily recognizable features of his race and something he is proud to show off. He only unties his hair and legs it hang down when he either alone or with someone he feels very comfortable around. His soft green eyes possess epicanthic folds that give them a canted appearance. Although he tends to act aloof or relaxed at times, looking around with half-lidded eyes, when he is hunting or going into combat his gaze becomes sharp and predatory. He dresses in earth tones to better blend in to the forested areas where he spends a great deal of time hunting. Most often that means thigh-high leather boots, simple brown britches and a forest green tunic. To better fit the Elf theme, he chose to become a ranged focused Assassin rather than a melee combatant. Because of that, he often keeps his bow and quiver on him, within easy drawing range. When hunting he tends to move while holding the bow and an arrow already knocked. | Personality Generally speaking Dubois attempts to project an aura of calm detachment and disinterest in what is happening around him. He doesn't like to let people see him get shaken by new developments. Because of that he usually has an easy going attitude and doesnt take things too seriously. He chats superficially with people, even in times of stress, and is fairly difficult to aggravate. In reality though Dubois is fairly introverted. Although he finds it easy to talk to people about superficial or meaningless things it is unusual for him to talk about anything he actually has a deep, vested interest in. In particular, he prefers to avoid talking about life outside of the game. This has led to him having a bit of a reputation as an avid roleplayer, a rumor he has made no effort to discourage. But really its just because he'd rather not share his worries with others, scared it would make him look weak. Appearing strong and independent is important to him and because of this he has yet to join any large guilds, afraid both of being let down and letting down others who would rely on him. He wants to better himself before he commits to any one group. When it comes time to make a tough decision he becomes very analytic, breaking down the pros and cons of a situation as fairly and impartially as possible. He tries to not get too emotional in his decisions and that is another reason he has been so negligent about joining a guild or bigger group of players. He doesn't really trust people to behave fairly when they have a vested interest in something, and past experience has given him reason to be cautious on that front. Add that to the fact that in a group he becomes fairly competitive. Having played mmos in the past he was often involved in high end raiding and was generally one of the top damage dealers in any party composition. His drive to compete and raid has fallen off somewhat in the new environment of a game where you dont just play your character but you are your character. In its place he has found a new love for crafting and trading. In Dubois' mind it is the first game that really allows you to contribute meaningfully to other's survival in a non-combat way. Players really depend on each other and although that interaction makes Dubois somewhat nervous it also fascinates him. |
Extra
Dubois secretly dreams of founding or joining a merchant guild that focuses on crafting and acquiring rare crafting materials.
Biography
Audun had a relatively easy going childhood. He was the middle child, with a sister two years older and a brother born a year after he was. His mother was a florist who owned her own shop and his father was an accountant. Audun was always intelligent but very shy and withdrawn. In school he picked things up fairly quickly but often didn't speak up about it. His favorite projects were ones where he could write reports on topics of his choosing. Audun tended to be very passionate about whatever he happened to be interested in at the time, although those interests themselves often changed somewhat erratically. His interest in computers started when he was thirteen and his father's computer broke and Audun helped him fix it. He enjoyed picking out the parts and putting it together and so he started to spend more time on and around computers. When he turned sixteen he used money he'd saved up from his birthday and working at his mother's flower shop to buy some parts to build his own computer and buy a game that all his friends had been telling him about. At the time that game was a moderately popular mmo with a sci-fi theme. Audun and his friends got really invested in the game and over the years built up a raiding guild together. But the company who owned the game was bought out and the game didn't receive the attention it needed to stay current and active, and the player base quickly fled to other options. That was when Audun first heard of Elder Tale, although he did not start playing it until much later. He hopped around from game to game but always kept his eye on Elder Tale, wishing that there was a European server to play on. So during summer of 2018, when discussion really kicked up about the possibility of that happening Audun got involved. The depth of the game was what drew him to it. He'd loved his old sci-fi mmo but at the end of the day it was just a series of raid after raid with no real depth or variety. He wanted something more and he got it when he logged into the game on December 11th, 2018. Unfortunately he got a lot more than he asked for. For the first few years it was hard on him but Audun has slowly gotten use to his new life and has more and more assumed the identity of his character as a way of coping. Only recently though has he decided to get serious about leveling. For a long time he was too worried about trying to escape or just survive to worry about planning for the future in the game. But as time passed and the new reality set in he realized he would have to at some point. After seeing the evolution of crafting in the world Audun now hopes to be a part of the game's strange industrial revolution, either by starting or joining a merchant or trade based guild.

CLASS SKILLS
Main Class: Assassin
Bank Shot: An Assassin's skill that expends mana to allow the Assassin to change the trajectory of a fired arrow to adjust for a target's change in position. The arrow will now redirect its movement in an attempt to strike the target directly. Understandably, this skill is most effective against opponents who like to dodge but is near useless against enemies who prefer to block the attack altogether. This skill has an casting time of 1.5 seconds and a cooldown of 5 seconds.
Fatal Ambush: Physical Attack. Assassins are known for their deadly strikes, often being able to slay in a single strike. This technique is the first of the many massive damage attacks the Assassins have under their repertoire. It is a crude version however, a novice skill that serves more as the basis and foundation for future, more poetic, techniques. Requiring a long preparation time, the Assassin must focus onto their target, limiting their perception and leaving them vulnerable to other attacks, as they search for a weak point. Then by focusing all of their strength into one strike, the assassin strikes their target with all of their might into a single point, dealing critical damage. The mental exertion required taxes the mind heavily however, and the technique can only be used sparingly. This skill has an casting time of 5 seconds before it may be used. When it is used, Fatal Ambush has an animation time of 1 second and a cooldown of 60 seconds.
Hiding Entry: Self Buff. One of the basic stealth magics of the Assassin. A signature move of the Assassins, known for being able to hide in plain sight, that allows them to bend light around them and become invisible to the naked eye for an extended period of time, up to ten minutes. Offensive actions, stabbing a target for instance, immediately break the magic used to hide the Assassin. The spell itself can be a bit taxing to the Assassin and can only be used sparingly. This skill has a casting time of 2 seconds, lightly draining the user's MP upon use. It has a cooldown of 30 seconds the moment it is canceled.
Level 4 Tier I Skill: A Tier I skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. Unlocked at Level 4.
Level 7 Tier I Skill: A Tier I skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. Unlocked at Level 7.

Level 28 Tier I Skill: A Tier I skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. Unlocked at Level 28.
Level 31 Tier II Skill: A skill slot that can be occupied with either an Adventurer or Main Class skill. The skill may be either a Tier I or II skill. Unlocked at Level 31.
Roleplay Class: Hunter
Marksmanship: Passive skill. The Hunter's bow damage passively increases by 10% to all monsters and an additional 10% to beast-type monsters. Additionally, if the Hunter's main class would normally penalize them from using bows, this skill allows them to use bows without penalty.
Crafting Class: Chef
Iron Stomach: Not even food poisoning can stop a dedicated chef! This skill can be toggled, allowing chefs to become immune to status debuffs caused by drinks and food. They also passively recover from sickness status effects twice as quickly.
