People were talking to space. Or rather, people dressed up like space. A large crowd of adventurers had gathered these curious-looking individuals, their garments appearing as if they were made from the canvas of the universe itself. One of them was currently talking, an elderly voice that felt like it could be heard no matter where you stood in the city. "Ahh...ye Adventurers. We, of the Messier Order of Alvs, have discovered an ancient relic...a stone tablet carved by our ancestors that contain the knowledge and ruminations of an order of magic that we thought was long lost." He spoke with firm, yet gentle tone as he spoke to the crowd. It was the kind of voice that an experienced story-teller would have, one that would draw you in until they've finished, leaving you hanging on their every word. Oxford stood motionless as he listened, curious as to what this type of discovery would lead to in the possible advancement of magic. The speaker cleared his throat before speaking again. "Alas...we have come across a hindrance upon our journey. The tablet...it remains incomplete." Some of the adventurers amongst themselves began to murmur while a couple others looked impatient. Probably ready to start whatever epic quest this was all leading up to. "Man, wish he'd hurry up with his monologue." "Dude, where can I get a cloak like that? That'd be awesome glamour." "I'm hungry, I thought there would be food at this event." While the adventurers had been talking amongst themselves, the Messier Sages had all pulled out long, thin, wooden rods, the speaker pulling out a small fragment of rock as well. The wands all emitted a faint shine of light, the wands of the speaker and those near him glowing noticably brighter. He held his arms above him, silencing the adventurers and bringing the two objects closer together. The shine of the wand increased the closer he held the fragment to the wand. "Lo, for the wood of this tree reacts in a peculiar way to the properties of the tablet. This is such a piece that was missing from it, claimed by us by way of these wands. However, there are many fragments to find, and not nearly enough of us to search for them. Should any of ye adventurers help us on our quest, the reward you will receive shall be most...divine." |
