Mercenary work didn't always fit the Monk's usual playstyle, but it sure as hell was a good way to make some quick cash. Maybe not so much for experience, since he really just needed the money for now. Now, he wasn't tight on cash, but he could always use some more. That being said, he didn't think he'd have to resort to beating up some people in order to make it happen. Luckily enough, it wasn't the job to kill the people, just incapacitate them. They weren't going to be Landers, either. It was actually a band of Adventurers who had taken to the streets, mugging people for their money and whatnot. Somebody had to come in and stop this rampant attack on people, but Hiro sure as hell wasn't gonna come here all on his own. No, it was a good idea to call in a bit of reinforcement from a good friend of his. As he walked along in one of the streets, he had managed to put up a message to his bro, Oxford, and asked for just a bit of help. He promised a good cut of the pay to his friend, while more importantly promising a damn good time of kicking the asses of pompous players who thought they could do what they wanted.
Hiro had a bit of intel on this band of people, and had found out that there was a Guardian who led the pack, filled with the idea that they were the best person in the game given their class choices. They also had a huge ego about their horse, which was actually supposedly much stronger than the Guardian themselves. Though, how much damage could a horse cause to a couple of higher-leveled Adventurers, such as Hiro and Ox? All that aside, the rest of the band of muggers were just a bunch of angst-filled people who wanted to cause more trouble than help prevent it, following their 'leader' and their mentality towards life in general. They loved to pick on Landers, since Landers couldn't defend themselves quite as well as Adventurers, and stole their money, items, and every so often they'd hold a child for ransom money. A group of low-life degenerates, for sure, who couldn't even grow a pair to actually do anything with their lives enough to get money a legitimate way. But, then again, Hiro had to be thankful for this group, since he wouldn't be getting as much money as a result if they didn't exist. So, he should probably thank the group of people after he beats them up.
His thought process was cut short, when three ruffians sprung from one of the side alleyways, charging directly at him. Instinctively, Hiro jumped backwards to avoid their first attacks, and immediately got into his battle stance. The ruffians stood nearby, waiting for something. Suddenly, a voice boomed from everywhere at once, yet nowhere. "STAGE 1, START!" The voice shouted, and a graphic of the words appeared in front of Hiro and the ruffians. The words vanished, Hiro stared confusedly, but the enemies began to move slowly toward him again. Remembering that he was in a fighting situation, the Monk struck his stance again, and began to punch the closest enemy in the jaw. He followed it up with a powerful right-legged kick to the torso, and used the momentum of the attack to swing his left leg around himself up into the ruffian's head, following through and knocking him to the side. Hiro extended his arms toward the ground, and vaulted back a few feet in finishing the small combo. He didn't want to use any skills for this fight, since that would likely be overkill. Nah, he'd just beat them up, fisticuffs style. This whole situation began to remind him of an old side-scrolling 2D fighter game, which he had seen a few times before.
His reminiscence was cut short by a pipe being forced down toward him. Dodging it perfectly, as one would expect of the level 90 Monk, he retaliated very quickly by grabbing onto the guy's arm and flipping him over himself, causing him to land on his back on the other side. Hiro knew that this guy was being followed up by another, which he responded by forcefully kicking backward into the second man's midsection. Hiro let go of the first guy's arm, letting him lay there for a few seconds, and proceeded to combo off the second guy. A punch to the stomach, followed up by another punch to the head, a low sweeping kick to knock him to the ground, and then a leap into the air. Hiro planted his elbow into the second enemy's chest, which would've surely crushed a few bones. The second guy now paralyzed from the impact, Hiro had enough time to see the one whom he had attacked earlier swinging their leg to connect with his stomach, and counter exactly. He rolled backward, stood on his hands, and whipped his legs around like a helicopter, knocking the enemy off balance again. Quickly flipping himself back upright onto the guy on the ground's chest, Hiro caused the guy to start blinking in and out of existence. It was alright to beat up people like this, since they deserved it for attacking those who cannot revive.
Hiro charged over to the one nearest him, still knocked back by his helicopter attack, and forced his hand onto his head. He charged the guy into a nearby wall, and, after connecting with the brick face, he lunged his knee forward into the enemy's stomach. Stepping back a few feet, Hiro reared his arm back, and punched the guy straight in the face, now causing him to blink, until he disappeared. Turning around, Hiro saw a pipe swinging right into his stomach, without enough time to react. Taking the full force of the pipe, Hiro lurched toward the ground slightly, noticing only a small decrease in his health. Hiro grabbed onto the pipe, and looked at the last remaining ruffian with a grin. "Nice try, hotshot." He said in a mocking fashion, wrenching the pipe from the guy's hand. Throwing it to the side, Hiro caught the guy's arm as he threw it all into a punch. Hiro brought his right leg up and to the side, colliding with the ruffian's midsection, and used the momentum of the kick to swing the guy around by his arm. He slammed the ruffian into the wall, brought his other elbow up into his face, and kicked him in the nuts right afterward. "Game over, kid!" Hiro shouted, as he picked him up over his head. As if to add insult to injury, Hiro threw him into a dumpster, as the final ruffian also disappeared. Dusting his hands off, he stood and watched as his score above his head ticked all the way up to 1500 Points. A good start, for sure, but that one hit took a few points away. "Damn."
